I just got CS6 Cloud in April,
Sorry for this dumb question, I have not found a satisfactory answer anywhere so I'm asking...
What is Premiere CC?
is it CS6 cloud?
is it a new version?
What about CS6? Is it going to stay?
When was CC released?
Was it announced? and when?
Should I switch to CC and abandon CS6?
If you compared what do you think ?

What About Premiere Pro Export to Final Cut?
I went to a presentation about Adobe Fremont in about March. We were told that in April Premiere would be updated to enable export to Final Cut. I have seen nothing. I tried to call support, after talking to two guys evidently in India, I was put ON HOLD FOR ONE HOUR before I gave up.
I have a project to cut...I would like to a rough cut and pass it to my editor, who is on a Final Cut machine. Exporting an EDL does not work very well; all you can do is move an EDL with a single layer and no transitions.Obviously, being able to export to Final Cut would be a major plus for me. I feel that the builders of Premiere Pro should not fear Final Cut...Premiere Pro is a great program. With Apple seemingly devoting energy into gadgets instead of their professional level tools, Adobe has the opportunity to attract more attention among professional video people. Being able to move both ways between Premiere Pro and Final Cut indicates they are peers...no need to be afraid of competition.
Thanks for the kind words - we agree. We've got many other wins in progress such as Hearst TV, Turner and others. Clearly Apple is focused on the iPhone (and they should be because it makes a lot of money!) and even hard core FCP'ers in a moment of honesty wonder about the long term future of FCP. I hope that none of our customers have that fear because they shouldn't.
Anyway....enough of this theorizing!!!....does anyone have any facts about export to Final Cut?
Here are the facts - Adobe has FCP export as a kind of beta and I have it loaded on my laptop. It is always our intention to 'play nice' with others which is why we already have FCP import and AAF import/export.
FCP export though is of less overall usefulness simply because FCP doesn't like anything other than QT. So, if you're shooting P2 MXF and you want to hand it over to a FCP editor, FCP is going to wig out.
Still, it is our intention to provide Premiere Pro to FCP integration in the future. -

The important information that I do not see mentioned nor offered by you.
1.What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system it is running? What version of Premiere Pro do you want to use?
The Premiere Pro Import Supported Formats seem to indicate that it will accept the Premiere Elements project.prel (project file) on Windows Only.

This may or may not be possible depending on damaged projects or outdated elements.
2. If you want to export your Premiere Elements Timeline to a file saved to the computer hard drive and subsequently import that into your Premiere Pro version, that "should" work. You would go to the Premiere Elements Publish+Share/Computer/ and make a selection based on what the Premiere Pro Import Supported file formats are and what you need. I can help you with that. But, details first.
But, just a "beware"...when you get to Premiere Elements 11 or 12 (if that is the version involved) Publish+Share/Computer/ there are several categories, but all you see is Adobe Flash Video, MPEG, and AVCHD. The rest of the list that includes AVI and QuickTime which both need to be scrolled to all of the time to see them, not just sometimes, with the thin scroll bar to the right of the list of choices. You can export files
with AVI file extension, under Publish+Share/Computer/AVI
with MOV file extension, under Publish + Share/Computer/QuickTime
And, if you do not have QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements, you are not going to have presets for the QuickTime export.
Remember, there is more to an export than just its file extension. Know your other export properties as well.
In many cases, you can customize the export settings to suit your requirements.
Problems will exist if you are trying to go from Premiere Elements Windows to Premiere Pro Mac or vice versa.
I would be glad for the opportunity to help you with this issue, but details are needed.

Best Training Materials for Premiere Pro?
I'm a long time pro veteran of Photoshop, but fairly new to video editing and a total noob w Premiere Pro CC (and after effects) I want to get on the fast track learning Premiere Pro and guess that taking an online video course is the most efficient path.
I don't know if there are any courses yet for Premiere Pro CC 2014, but I suspect that I can make do with a good CC course. There's Lynda.com, and the Pearson/Adobe Press/Peachpit series (perhaps others that I haven't found yet) I'm not seeing much in the way of online reviews for these. Any forum denizens have useful opinions to share?
I have only used iMovie, and GoPro Studio2. I prefer video training for general learning, with printed books (or PDF) for reference.

ArtTook a look at the Premiere Pro splash screen as the program loads; the version number will be displayed. If you don't catch it there, go Help > About Adobe Premiere Pro. And, if you're running anything other than at least 4.2 (the current version is 4.2.1), you'll want to update by selecting Help > Updates.

What is the best way to organise remote collaborative editing with Premiere Pro CC
I am writing to enquire about a solution for a collaborative project between two filmmakers in different countries. Ideally, we would be able to have a cloud media library that could be referenced by both of us as well as a project folder with work in progress that would allow one of us to review the other’s progress or pick up editing where the other left off.
It is a relatively small scale project and I’m not sure what would be the best platform on which to base it. We are currently both using Adobe Premiere Pro CC but it is the cloud library aspect which concerns me. We would need approximately 2TB of space in order to accommodate all of the footage and work in progress sequences.
My immediate thought was to use the cloud storage integrated with CC, but as far as I'm aware there is not an option to increase storage size to the amount we would need. My second thought was to use something like Google Drive or Dropbox, but someone has told me that it is not suitable due to issues in Premiere Pro referencing the files? I'm not sure I completely understand the issue, hence the reason for writing.
ThanksAdobe sells the Adobe Anywhere platform for collaborative editing, but it's not a realistic option for small-scale projects due to the huge investment in hardware required for the servers. Premiere in desktop mode isn't designed for parallel editing - two people cannot have the same PRPROJ file open at the same time, and you cannot merge changes from two separate copies - so if you're sharing the project file on a cloud service you will have to ensure that only one editor is working at any moment. Without active file locking, that has to be done through a manual process (phoning to confirm handover, etc.).
Sharing your original source footage on a cloud service isn't necessary as Premiere won't be changing those files - so the inexpensive option is to distribute copies on hard drives to both editors, and/or for the primary editor to set up a proxy workflow so the project files are much smaller. Both editors then work of locally-saved copies of the footage and download the updated PRPROJ file from the cloud service when the work hands over. Premiere can rebuild its preview/cache files provided it has the source material and the project file in the same place, so both editors would set up the same absolute folder names - don't work from a My Documents or ~library folder! -
There is an error that says when I am open my project: 'Sorry a serious error has occured that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project'. What is the solution? (mac)
This happens to me all the time too. When I attempt to reopen, it makes a "copy of" my project. This is frustrating and happiness often.

Laptop editing with Premiere Pro CS4: what are the most important specs

Hello everybody, I have been a long time lurker, but I decided to join in and share my voice.
I've been editing, for a while now, various projects of various lenghts shot on my HV20, on an IMac using Adobe Premiere Pro. Actually, I bought the CS4 Extended Production Suite last year thinking that it made sense to be able to edit, do the coloring and effects+ sound all within the same suite.
AND, it came with OnLocation, wich is, I think, a fantastic tool. I really want to be able to record and monitor my future shoots using OnLocation. I've seen how useful monitors and scopes are on set, and the idea of being able to shoot in HD and actually checking the focus on something larger than a few inches is very appealling!
So a laptop is in my future. Now, what are the most important specs?
I could buy 1) a barely used Macbook pro early 08- 17" HD led display ,4g Ram ddr2 ,nvidia 8600M GT 512 VRAM ,800Mhz BUS, 200G 7200HD
and have enough money left to buy an Apple Display 30" refurb
OR 2) a new Macbook pro 17, 4 g Ram ddr3, 512 VRAm, 4g Ram ddr3, double procsessors 9400M+9600M GT 512 VRAM, 1066 BUS, 500G 7200HD
and wait for a second display!
Plus, of course, a portable External Scratch Drive on the Express Card. Now, if that fast drive is handling the footage, could'nt I settle for a 5400HD in the laptop,, they seem much less prone to problems-clicking noise, heat-than the 7200, especially in the new unibody model. Is 800 versus 1066 BUS a terrible trade-off? In terms of secondary displays , I've heard less than lukewarm things about the new Apple 24 LED (glossy is no-no for me).
My intentions are to make documentaries and short fictions as well. I make a living as an actor so I don't need to be performing as a director/editor business wise!
I do want to explore that side of the craft, in a professional and enjoyable way though. I know that, in addition to the laptop, I will get a MacPro in a few years.

I'm not sure about software, but everything I've ever read in this forum says 5400 is NOT fast enough for the data drive

4K footage to DVD: what are the best settings for exporting in Premiere Pro CC v7.2.2?

I am editing a big bunch of short 4K clips (XAVC in MP4) which will then go onto DVDs. The idea is to get as many of those clips on a DVD as possible. Using Premiere Pro 7.2.2 on Windows 8.
What I would like to know is whether I'm actually using the best possible settings for this case, because the video exported to MPEG2-DVD doesn't look that good. Or maybe it needs to be exported to a different format and rather converted to DVD format after?
The sequence setting are the following:
RED Cinema
Frame rate: 29,97 fps
3840x2160 (16:9)
Square pixels
The export settings I've been using:
MPEG2-DVD
Aspect ratio: 16:9
TV Format: PAL
Field order: progressive
Frame rate: 25
Video quality: 100
Bitrate: VBR
1, I've tried different bitrates, also setting minimum at 9, but this blows up the file size too much (as i mentioned, the idea is to get at many clips as possible on a DVD)
GOP: M - 3, N - 15 (haven't touched those)
Multiplexer: none (should i put DVD?)
I'm using maximum render quality
Have I given all the information?

Why are you also going from NTSC to a PAL output?
Premiere will drop frames to get from 29.97 to 25.
PAL DVD players read NTSC discs fine as long as they are region 0
Why are you trying to produce a DVD anyway?
A Bluray would be far better quality.
Also a minimum 9 is way wrong, c9.6 is the max in the spec and hence avoided as your system is trying to push the spec limits to close.
I used to use 6 - 7.5 - 8.8 in my VBR and they looked fine, now I am all HD. -
What are the hardware requirements to run Premiere Pro CS 5.5 suite?
A couple of years ago, I purchased a high-end HP desktop specifically for working with Premiere Pro CS 5.5. My local computer store who has helped me with my computer is in awe of my machine -- powerful processors, massive storage, etc. Yet, there is very little I can do with Premiere Pro on my machine. Encore simply locks up my machine and forces a restart with no resolution hints available so I can't do much in the way of output, etc. I get a lot of messages that Premiere "can't do this and can't do that".
What I'd like to know is EXACTLY what Adobe Premiere CS 5.5 needs in the way of a hardware configuration, so I can get my desktop corrected so I can do professional video work? If I can't do anything with my system, there doesn't seem much value in upgrading to the online version. Indicate your CPU, how much memory,current video card,and disk system,( how many drives,what each is, speed of each,etc.).
Also indicate the types of video you are trying to edit........what codecs....and if you are trying to apply non-CUDA accelated effects to your clips.
If changes are recommended here to improve performance, you can visit the PPBM 7 website to run a performance test BEFORE and AFTER, to compare results. As you are using the " older" 5.5 version....I believe you can still run the PPBM 5 test that was made for your PPro version. Beware if you are using Canon generated MOV files on the timeline, a slow 32 bit process is introduced, ( Quicktime ), that cripples the 64 bit PPro and limits memory use to 4 GB....it is better to transcode to the free cineform codec obtainable on the go pro site...especially if using CS5.... -
Premiere pro cc crashes on mountain lion, what to do?
I've been running CS6 perfectly on OSX 10.8.4. but decided to update to a trial CC. That's when all the fuss began.
Trying to play AVCHD material in the browser and it good stuck. Forced quit and then opened again. Then it good stuck in the startingwindow already.
Reinstalled CC, because it might have been the installation. But again failed.
Then used Adobe cleaner tool. But still failed.
Then decided to go back to cs6. But now that one gets stuck too.
Again deinstalled everything with Cleaner tool, and installed my CC trial again. Still gets stuck.
Tried to make a new user without any Adobe on it, but still fails.
What can I do? Because of all this mess I'm a week late on my editing-schedule, which is very frustrating. I might have to go back to FCP, and I don't want to.

Thanks for your response. I appear to have solved the problem, albeit inconveniently. I found out that the module causing the crash was related to PTC's Desktop Integration. Uninstalling Desktop Integration has solved the crashes. However, this is a bit of a pain as none of the other CC apps were having any problems with PTC's Desktop Integration, only Photoshop, and it would be handy to be able to have it installed. Do you have any idea why that would be? Is this a known issue?
Hopefully anyone else having this problem will find this post here.

What other options are there for burning a dvd outside of premiere pro?
I tried the downloading of PPCS6 which included encoder. That didn't work, the dynamic link library did not contain a link to send something to encoder. Whats the procedure in buring a project from PP to a dvd not using encoder?

Thanks for your response's, I appreciate it. let me explain what I am trying to do and have tried: The objective end result is to make a dvd with go pro footage I shot edited together in ppcc.
I went golfing with my Father and Brother recently, took my gopro hero silver 4 and shot some video. I have imported all that footage into premiere procc 2014 and have done editing on a limited extent of the footage and created a timeline sequence. This is the first time I have tried to make a dvd from footage edited in ppcc. After the composition was done I rendered the video, went to burn a dvd thru my neuro express lite software and could not locate the saved files, it appears the only dvd extensions options in neuor express lite are looking for are bup, vod and ifo. So it could never find the rendered video from ppcc. Then I read about PP CS6 which contains Encore and thought this will work! I download PPCS6 and install, novice me thinking ppcc 2014 will have the dynamic " send to encore "............not! Before I downloaded PPCS6 I see a video from adobe tv of a tutorial on what I was doing, he said to uninstall ppcs6 after and keep enocre unchecked in the uninstall process, which I did. In premiere pro it said to put things in a " que " and it should link to encore, for me it linked to adobe media encoder.
I uninstalled encore and reinstalled PPCS6 with Encore this morning to try again, when I go to import from with in PPCS6 a PPprogfile everything looks like it's working then stops, I see a progress bar and it just stops and hangs up? I tried dragging and dropping two files I rendered from PPCC ( aud and vid files ) into encore and it looked as if it was going thru the burning process, I got a progress bar and everything and it just stops after about 15-20 minutes, I have 32 minutes of golf footage.
Ideally I would like to use encore for my burning needs, I dont think neuro 2012 lite is up to what I need. I thought the dragging and dropping into it was gonna solve my problem, it didnt! Just made me more frustrated then what I am.
What is the work flow in something like this? Compile in PPCC render to the specs of it being shot, then import into encore with the dvd instructions? Can someone steer me in the right direction? What I thought was gonna be a simple process has turned into a frustrating process.
Why cant I import PPCC files into PPCS6? What kind of files can I import into encore for burning? Do they have to rendered first? Or just the completed project?
When you say export to mpeg2 dvd, after it is rendered how is it burned to a disc, thru something like Neuro?
I am a novice at this so if these questions sound stupid, I apologize now.

What is the best laptop to run Premiere Pro cc?

I've been having a lot of problems with Premiere cc since I downloaded it a few months ago and am now realising the problem is with my computer. I have a late 2012 Macbook Pro, 2.5 ghz, 8gb Ram, intel hd 4000 processor which just doesn't seem to have the juice to run Premiere pro smoothly. If I do any kind of editing, even just colour correction, the footage gets very sticky when playing back in Premiere. if I try anything advanced like adding warp stabilier the program crashes. I also bought magic bullet looks and I can barely open it without the whole computer having a meltdown.
This has been extremely frustrating and has made working with Premiere pro a nightmare. I am now planning to buy a new laptop/pc and am looking for suggestions on what to buy. i am looking for best bang for my buck. While I would be willing to spend over a £1000 I would obviously prefer not to if I don't have to. I thought my Macbook Pro would have more than enough horsepower to handle it and have been left dissapointed and frustrated so would really appreciate some advice from the wider Adobe community on this. I am also open to suggestions on desktops, not just laptops.

I am using it solely for wedding videography so it quite basic stuff. I am filming on a canon 7d and really just looking or something that I can edit the footage with and put on some light effect/colour grading. I am not able to say what level of effects I will be needing to use as at the minute when i try anything other than basic editing the programme has a stroke. Like I mentioned I have Magic Bullet Looks suite sitting waiting for me but I haven't even had a chance to try it out. One effect I really like but know that it is processor draining is some warp stabiliation . There are certain shots it really lends itself to but I just bought myself a nice monpod and fluid head so shouldn't need that anymore.
Last night I tried downloading Premiere cc onto my girlfriends £500 basic desktop and to my great surprise everthing ran like a dream! (compared to my computer anyway). Is this normal, that a cheap desktop would so comprehensively outperform a 12 month old Macbook Pro? I am wondering if there is an unresolved problem with the macbook itself.
To give you an example, if i have put warp stabilisation on a clip on my macbook I have to put it at 1/4 resolution for it to playback and even then it is extremely choppy and sticky and sometimes crashes the programme. Last night on the budget desktop I was able to put it to full resolution and it played smoothly, just like it would if it had been exported.
Any advice you could give on this would be much appreciated. ive been round the traps with apple and adobe tech guys and neither of them can find anything wrong with the computer or the programme.
