  • What is the use of delta in BW side when we have delta in R/3

    Hi,
what is the use of delta in BW side when we are already using delta in R/3 side?
    Like,
    Generic extraction:-
with different delta extractions (Time stamp, Calendar day, Numeric pointer).
Lo-Cockpit extraction with change log method.
Co/Pa extraction with time stamp method.
So from this delta activation first time full data will be loaded and after that only changed data will be loaded because of these deltas in R/3 side.
So now my question is what is the exact use of delta in BW side with ODS/DSO because data already reached to BW with delta activation right.
Can you please explain me what is the exact use of BW delta?
    Thanks in advance.
    Points to be added.
    Regards,
    Shyam.

The purpose of Delta Queue is same in R/3 and BW.
In BW, Delta Queue is used to capture changes made to objects within BW. (for Eg: BW Statastics)or Update data from one BW system to another BW system (if you have multiple BW systems).

  • What is the difference between Delta Upgrade and Supplementary Upgrade

What is the difference between Delta Upgrade and Supplementary Upgrade?
    thanks
    druva

    Hi,
Delta Upgrade - means installing the different add-on release on the same BASIS release.
ex: If you have add-on ERECRUIT 600 on SAP_BASIS 700 and want to upgrade to ERECRUIT 603 on SAP_BASIS 700, then its called Delta- Upgrade
Supplementary Upgrade - means installing the different add-on release on the different BASIS release.

  • What is Pseudo Delta

    Hi,
Can anyone throw light on Pseudo Delta Concept ??
    Thanks in Advance,
    Vishali.G

    Hi Vishali,
Pseudo Delta processing is achieved by filtering dates in the InfoPackages. This is not the same as normal delta process that we do to extract the newly updated/ modified records. if you look at the data load it would say FULL LOAD instead of DELTA. But as a matter of fact, its only pulling the records that are changed or created after the previous load. This can be achieved multiple ways like logic in infopackage routine, selections identifying only the changed records and so on.
    1) Normal delta (change log table will identify the changed records) with the option of Delta in the update tab of IP.
    2) Psuedo Delta: This is a full load with calendar day selected as today's date in the selection tab of infopackage.
Realize that in both the cases you would be sending the same records, but the second method uses full load with restrictions (psuedo delta) while the first load is a straight delta.

  • Fake Delta

    Dear All,
I am have the following requirement to satisfy customer needs but I am not sure how to proceed.
    1. Data is extracted using Delta update to target A.
    2. Again, target A the data is uploaded to target B using Full. (This is fine so far)
    3. Now, Customer says, they don't want to have full load always, instead, they want to have Fake Delat(6 months). There is
no date used except posting date in my Infopackage data selection tab.
How should I proceed this task?
FYI: In my case both targets are ODS and I am in 3.5 version.
    Best Regards,
    Kanagaraj.S

    Hi Kanag,
As you said you have posting date in your infopackage selection then you can easily populate the 6month range for posting date so that only that specific 6month data will be extracted.
So as to make this range dynamic you can populate From and To value using Routine.  You can put the to date as system date and subtract 180 days from current date so as to get 6month old data or you can put some similar logic to formulate your data range.
Refer the below article for writing Routine,

  • What is differences extraction queue, delta queue and uddate queue ?

    hi guru's
What is differences  between extraction queue, delta queue and uddate queue ? can u describe briefly?
    Thanks & Regards
    nandi

    Dear Prabha,
Basically when any document is posted in R/3, it is updated to the update table, from there it is taken to our delta queue for send it to BW side.
When extraction starts, data is sent to BW from delta queue. then again this cycle starts.
When you post any document in OLTP system (eg SAP R3),
say create sales order by VA01, then posting is made to application tables (VBAK/VBAP) through V1 and also to sm other tables through V2, Communication structure written to update queue/extraction queue/delta queue(directly) as per the update mode selected. V3 is always followed by V2 and we are supposed to schedule it.
From this delta queue, data is extracted by BW infopackages.
There are various update methods according to which extraction or delta queue are used, so when document posting takes place it also write data into extraction queue (through V1 update) and if we use queued delta method then this data is collected in collection run and written to delta queue and from this delta queue we request for data from BW.
There are lots of posts on SDN for this, please have a look on those.
    one for your reference...

  • What is "copy as linked delta"?

When assigning an iView to a role, there are 2 options: copy and copy
    as linked delta.
What is the difference between the 2?
    I'll give points. Thanks!

    hi ,
1.In contrast to the delta link, the copied object is an independent object that is no longer dependent or linked to the object from which it was copied.but in delta link,it is a relationship between two objects in the Portal Content Directory that is established when one object (the target object) is based on another object (the source object).
2.The copied objects (the new object instance) and the object from which it was copied have a sibling relationship and not a parent-child relationship, as is the case for the delta link. The delta link operates on hierarchies and property values of objects.
3.The main Adv of Delta Link concept is that objects can be reused or changed without changing the original or source object. You can make changes to delta link objects (target objects), such as deleting or adding entries in role hierarchies or changing property values for iViews and pages, without having to change the source object.
4.With the delta link concept, you can protect your own objects and the content objects shipped by SAP and other vendors against modifications.

  • What is difference between additive delta and new status for change record

    Hi Experts
Can any one explain me about the difference between additive delta and new status for change record with example
if any one has a document please post it iam thank full to u
    thanks
    Ahmed
Please search the forum before posting a thread

    Hi
Additive delta --- We will get the changed quantity.
say suppose you have sales order and quantity like  1111   30 which is loaded to cube(BW).
now same record qty has changed from 30 to 40. As we have additive delta, we will get new record as 1111  10.
new status for change record: This is same as like After image delta type in standard SAP data sources. for every change in record you should have new record.
say if you have any number which will be generated by system for new/changed record, then you can use this.
You can use this option when delta option set to "numeric pointer"

  • Partiotning, pseudo delta, LUW

    Hi gurus,
    could you please tell me
how PSA partiotining done. need steps to do it. How is cube partioitning done .need steps.
what is pseudo delta and where is it done , please tell me the steps to do it
What is LUW abbriviation, and whai is its functionality in BW and R/3
    thanks in advance
    regards

    Hi Chaudary,
PSA Partition will be done automatically also in the transaction RSCUSTV6 you could set Packet size and Partition size.
And you can partition InfoCubes using two characteristics –calendar month (0CALMONTH) and fiscal year/period (0FISCPER). The special feature of the fiscal year/period characteristic (0FISCPER) being compounded with the fiscal year variant (0FISCVARNT) means that you have to use a special procedure when you partition an InfoCube using 0FISCPER.
You use partitioning to split the total dataset for an InfoCube into several, smaller, physically independent and redundancy-free units.

Pseudo delta is used with generic extractors, to make a a generic extactor delta enabled ...In RSO2 after creating the datasource at the top of the screen you have "Generic delta" icon, click on this & in the following screen you need to select the field on which the delta is to be performed along with the type of delta i.e Numeric or time stamp or on 0calday.
Save the datasource & relicate it in the BW system.
A Logical Unit of Work (LUW or database transaction) is an inseparable sequence of database operations which must be executed either in its entirety or not at all. For the database system, it thus constitutes a unit.
LUWs help to guarantee database integrity. When an LUW has been successfully concluded, the database is once again in a correct state. If, however, an error occurs within an LUW, all database changes made since the beginning of the LUW are canceled and the database is then in the same state as before the LUW started.
    An LUW begins
o each time you start a transaction
o when the database changes of the previous LUW have been confirmed (database commit) or
o when the database changes of the previous LUW have been cancelled (database rollback)
    An LUW ends
o when the database changes have been confirmed (database commit) or
o when the database changes have been canceled (database rollback)
    Points = thanks,

  • What memory are you running in your KT6 Delta?

I am looking at upgrading my memory. I am going for 1GB of pc3200 with decent latency. Please post your memory configuration as i want to know what works with the KT6 Delta before making a purchase
I also wonder if i can use dual-channel memory even thought the board doesnt support it. So i wont need to upgrade my memory when i get a new dual-channel board.
    I would like to stay under/around $200

    HyperX as per sig.
Don't understand your question "can I use dual channel memory even though the board doesn't support it." Makes no sense. Since the board doesn't support it the answer is surely no.
BUT, if you mean "can I use 2 sticks which I'd normally buy for dual channel memory" then the answer is definitely yes. There's nothing special about dual channel memory kits - they are just matched pairs, that's all. The Delta series has 3 DIMM slots so go ahead and buy 2 sticks.
Apologies if I've got the wrong end of the stick!

  • What is safty delta and safety interval

    Hello,
PLease tell me What is mean by Safety Delta and Safety Interval?

    Hi,
Safety interval should be set so that no document is missed – even if it was not stored in the DB table when the extraction took place.
Example for Determining Selection Intervals with a Generic Delta:
    1. If delta field is Date (Record Create Date or change date), then use Upper Limit of 1 day.
This will load Delta in BW as of yesterday. Leave Lower limit blank.
    2. If delta field is Time Stamp, then use Upper Limit of equal to 1800 Seconds (30 minutes).
This will load Delta in BW as of 30 minutes old. Leave Lower limit blank.
    3. If delta field is a Numeric Pointer i.e. generated record # like in GLPCA table, then use Lower Limit. Use count 10-100. Leave upper limit blank. If value 10 is used then last 10 records will be loaded again. If a record is created when load was running, those records may get lost.
To prevent this situation, lower limit can be used to backup the starting sequence number. This may result in some records being processed more than once; therefore, be sure this DataSources is only feeding an ODS Object

  • What happens internally when Delta is Initialized?

    Hi..All
Can any one plz explain What happens internally when Delta is Initialized?
And Can we Intialize delta, if delta load error flagged to INTIALIZE DELTA?
    With Regards
    Jonn

    Hi John,
Delta Initialization sends all the historical data requested on the "selection screen" of the infopackage.
After the initialization, you can do the Delta loads for the same selection. After the first historical load,
delta loads bring in only the changes.
    This is what happens internally.
With delta initialization, the system is preparing for an initial full load and later only the changes.
If your delta initialization failed. You can delete the initialization. In your infopackage, on the top left hand
corner, you will find Scheduler. Drop down the menu for Scheduler, Double click on "Initialization Options for
source system". Select your previous delta initialization and delete it. The delete button is the trash can at the bottom left hand corner.
This will delete your previous delta initialization. You can now initialize your delta again.
You can also refereto the below link for further information.
