What is recommended Jrockit  GC policy for Webcenter sites

Currently we are using jrockit-jdk1.6.0_45-R28.2.7-4.1.0 for fatwire webcenter sites and its currently uses Genparpar GC, we would like to know What is recommended Jrockit  GC policy for Webcenter sites.
Thanks
Sumanth

Hello Sumanth,
We do not have any specific garbage collector recommendations for JDKs earlier than 1.7 except that G1GC is not recommended for JDK1.6.
See also Doc ID 1956788.1 and Doc ID 1495193.1.
Kind regards,
Stephan.

    See my Mac Malware Guide. Although you certainly can do without anti-virus software, there is malware out there, so you do need to be aware of how to stay safe online.

  • Jump Start Kit for Webcenter sites - Where is the download URL?

    Hi All,
    I would like to download the Jump start Kit (JSK) for WebCenter Sites. I read in online that it is under Oracle support under Patches and Updates. But i didn't see any tab called Patches and Updates under www.support.oracle.com. I already registered with oracle.com, so when i try to login, it is asking for Support Identifier number. Please help me to download JSK.
    regards
    Sri

    Hi,
    you need to provide the support id and get the appropriate permissions to download the JSK and other webcenter products.
    I have downloaded it from Oracle support site only. But only after my customer has authorized me with their support id and gave me the permissions to download.
    Many Thanks.

  • Hardware requirements for WebCenter Sites?

    Hi,
    I didn't found hardware requirements/recommendations for this product.
    Is there any official document somewhere?
    Other opinions?
    Best Regards,
    Martins

    There isn't a generic sizing document as such, you would be best advised to speak with your Oracle sales representative as there are very many factors involved in sizing. To give a rough indication of lowest requirements, a bare-bones single instance of Webcenter Sites (not Gadget, Community, etc) for development/testing could run on a single 32bit or 64bit core with 2gb heap, with a small application server like tomcat, and Oracle Database standard/express.

  • How to go on production system for webcenter sites

    Hi,
    I have installed the webcenter sites and deployed them on weblogic. AVISports and FirstSiteII sample sites also been configured, now how can I go on delivery/production url?
    IF we need to install gadgets on top of it then how can we proceed?
    Thanks,
    Rajiv Jain

    For Gadgets installation you can follow:
    https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E29495_01/doc.1111/gadgets_11gr1_installation_guide.pdf
    Please make sure you install gadgets in separate machines (not even separate server on same machine) pointing to the installed cs. This is not documented but we got this info through Oracle SR.
    For the production url, I'm also waiting for a response:
    Actual site URL in the production server?
    Thanks

  • What is apple's replacement policy for a macbook pro?

    Macbook Pro, 13" from Summer 2011 running Mavericks
    Still under applecare, but will run out in approximately a month.
    As stated above, I bought the computer in the summer. A couple months later, I took it in to the store and ended up having the logic board and entire screen replaced because there were issues with both.
    This past march (2014) I took it into the store and had the hard drive cable replaced because my hard drive was "missing"
    Afterwards, I was having issues with the computer shutting down randomly. I would close the lid - putting it to sleep - and then I would sometimes hear later on (not immediately afterwards) the disks start going again or the fan start blowing as if the computer was turning on again and working on something. Sometimes I would put it in my backpack and 20 minutes later take it back out and find that it was super hot and the battery had completely drained. The computer also got a lot slower. I talked with apple on the phone and the person I talked to even commented on how slow it was going as she had me open up certain things to check settings, etc. That resolved nothing so I took it in to the store. The store technicians took it and then gave me a call later and told me they found nothing wrong with it. They offered to send it in to the factory or some other repair center for a more thorough search and repair. Due to certain work circumstances, I said that I would see if things got better. A few days later, things got a lot worse and I ended up taking it to the store and having it sent out to the factory. Both times I was at the store I could see exactly what the technicians were writing down, and despite me telling them over and over again, they wrote down things that weren't really the issue. Maybe this is minor, but for example, I would tell them that my battery heated up when the computer was supposed to be asleep and it would get hot and drain completely in a very short time while it was supposed to be asleep. They would write down "battery drains quickly." They also just didn't seem to care very much - walking away and helping other people despite my appointment, etc. Well they sent it off to the factory and then shipped it back to me after replacing the logic board, battery, fan, and ram. I called apple as it was being shipped back to me and asked to talk to a manager because I thought it was rather ridiculous that my computer was having so many issues - I felt like as soon as my warranty was up it was just going to have another problem and I would end up paying for it. He to me he would extend the warranty some and he alluded to possible a possible replacement of the computer down the line if I was still having issues. The day I got the computer back, it kept trying to shut down. It froze once. I wasn't even doing much with the computer - it shouldn't have been overloaded by a long shot. I called and left a message for the manager. He called me back a couple days later and I told him what the issues were as soon as I got the computer back. However, they abated between the time I got it back and the time he called me back, so he attributed it to the fact that I had been using google chrome and said I should check my updates. I switched browsers and made sure I was updated and for a time it was ok-ish (still slow). Then I had an issue where I was copying files to my desktop. The copying went on forever and ever and my computer started freezing. I tried shutting down and I couldn't. I hit the power button and it wouldn't turn off. After forever, I finally got it to turn off and restarted. Then the random shut downs started again. And then, finally, I was left looking at a folder on a gray screen. Called the manager again and he said it was probably the hard drive cable. He said that if the cable replacement didn't fix it, we would probably be looking at replacing the computer. I took it in to the store and had it replaced. It didn't do any good. Now the manager wants me to send it to the factory again. He says that I almost had reached the amount of repair issues that would get me a new computer, but the first issues right after I got it didn't count since they weren't very recent. What is apple's policy on replacing laptops that seem to just be lemons?

    We cannot answer the question nor will Apple. You will need to consult your state's lemon law to determine whether you have a case. Most likely you will need to go to arbitration. If you need to go to court you will need to hire an attorney or use small claims court if your case is eligible.
    If Apple has such a policy, then only Apple knows what that policy is. So you will need to take the matter up with them through the local Apple Store.

  • What is recommended / preferred design pattern for Swing?

    I have been confused by the apparent variety of design patterns used when putting together a Swing GUI application. For example, one pattern does this:
    public class myclass extends JFrame {
    myclass() {
    // do all the stuff here
    public static void main(String args[]) {
    // instantiate class here
    while another pattern goes like this:
    public class myclass extends JFrame {
    myclass() {
    super("title");
    public static void main(String args[]) {
    // do all the stuff here
    Is there a preferred way to do this stuff, or is it a matter of personal preference?

    Hi
    I txnk there are no choice : the only valid aproach is (1)
    because :
    main is a "know" entry point just for instantiate some classes
    the event thread is alive after main is completed, so your app have a GUI elements who responds to some events via some classes (the listeners for these events).
    Of course you can add listeners at main level but, what hapen if
    you need these GUI in other app (the main func is only called when you invoke the JVM to an start class)
    Normally the JFrame have some member funct or some internals classes to respond some events (at this point there are some alternatives)
    Hope this help
    Bye

  • What is the faulty returns policy for iPods?

    My iPod touch has started acting up recently (home button is sticking and it wont recognise speakers plugged into the dock). I took it into the Apple store and they agreed it was faulty and offerred me a replacement. I should be picking the replacement up in a couple of days as they had to order it in. While I was in the store I saw the new 4th generation iPods (mine is a 3rd gen) and I asked if I could get one of those as a replacement and pay the difference for it but I was told Apple only exchange faulty products like-for-like. So I was wondering, rather than getting a replacement 3rd gen, am I able to ask Apple for my money back for my faulty iPod (its still under warranty) and then use the money to buy a 4th gen, or am I only able to get the replacement?

    The refund period is 14 days. Essentially, you have a 14 days to decide if you like it.
    A good idea, if you really want to get the iPod Touch 4G, take the "like-new" replacement, and sell it to a buddy. That's how I got from 1st gen to 2nd gen.

  • Help With Setup of Tomcat for WebCenter Sites

    I'm currently trying to install WCS on my machine, and I've managed to get HelloCS to succeed, but PingDb has failed. I've revisited my Tomcat server.xml and added the <Context> section, however, I am unsure about the parameters I have entered into the text. I assume I am using the Oracle thin driver, as I have installed Oracle database 11g on my machine. However, I cannot find the exact Jar file they specify (ojdbc6.jar), instead only being able to locate ojdbc6dms.jar. Is this an issue? I am also unsure as to the db username and password. Are these the ones I set up when I installed Oracle db and chose 'create and configure a db'?  If so, how do I find out the user parameter, as I only specified a DBName and password when I created it? And for the Hostname, if I have that on my own machine, is that just localhost, or some other value? And I guess last but not least, is this the reason my pingDB is failing, or is there some other issue entirely?
    Cheers,
    Harrison

    Hi Harrison,
    You should use the ojdbc6.jar, which can be downloaded here: Oracle Database 11g Release 2 JDBC Driver Downloads.  The hostname if you are on your local should probably be 127.0.0.1. And for the db, you may need to create a user and assign to the database you've created.  I suspect you're already following the install guide for tomcat, but here it is if you need it:  http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E29542_01/doc.1111/e29632/wcs_on_tc.htm#WBCSI1567.
    Hope this helps!

  • VNIC failover policy for vMotion network

    Hi everyone,
    I'm wondering what the recommended design/configuration is for a VMware vMotion network on UCS-B Series v2.0?
    1. Create a single vNIC with A-B failover for the vSwitch
    2. Create 2 vNICs with A-B failover and make them both active for the vSwitch
    3. Create 2 vNICs, 1 with on A and 1 on B both with no failover, and make them both active for the vSwitch
    4. Create 2 vNICs, 1 with on A and 1 on B both with no failover, and make 1 active and 1 standby for the vSwitch
    The intension is to avoid the vMotion traffic from leaving the FIs, either from within a chassis or across chassis.
    Which of the above, if any, would satisfy that?
    What are some folks experiences and/or best practices in the real world?
    Thanks in advance for any responses.
