  • Why does my music have a red circle with a square dot beside it?

On my iPad 3, in music, some of my songs have a red circle with a square dot, the songs are grayed out and I am unable to play them. Is there a new setting with ios 7? Does it no longer play mp3's?

Here's what I had to do, no thanks to the others on here who go at it like Apple, delete and restore.
No, you don't have to delete and restore. Just open a folder on  your computer, call it something like iPad music, keep it open, open iTunes, select all your music, copy and paste it in the folder you just created, delete all your music from iTunes (relax, you just copied it into that folder). Select all the music in that folder, drop it back onto your playlist. Now, I renamed my playlist, because it was called untitled, originally, so if that doesn't work, rename, or delete and recreate your playlist, copy the music back over, sync, and they will play.
Worked for me, anyhow. Good luck!

  • I just tried to download the Wheel Of Fortune app. A cloud with a downward arrow appeared, and when I clicked on it it appeared to download, and a circle with a square in it appeared. I clicked on that, and the cloud with the arrow came back.  What to do?

I just tried to download the Wheel Of Fortune app. A cloud with a downward arrow appeared next to it. When I clicked on it, it appeared to download, then a circle with a square inside it appeared. When I clicked on that, the cloud with the arrow came back. What's going on?

Don't click on the circle, that is just telling you it's downloading. When you click it, it stops downloading.

Try resetting you phone by holding the power and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then release.  If no change you might need to try syncing all your music and TV shows off your iPhone, then sync them back on (be sure they are in your iTunes library before doing so).

  • HT5137 what does the circle with a lock in it mean?

What does the circle with a lock in it mean? And how do I make it go away?

What circle with a lock? Can you be a littel more specific? It usually mean the rotation lock is on. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open Control Center and tap the icon there (looks the same - its on the top right).

  • What does the icon with the red circle with a square inside (much like a power button) mean?

I've copied much of my home CD collection to iTunes but some of the albums will not play.  They are shown in my libraries but when opened each song in the album has a redcircle with a square inside icon displayed.  When I go to play an album with the red icons listed next to each song the app quickly scans through the list of songs - no audio and that's it.
What does this icon mean?  And how can I correct the problem?

screen rotation lock has been enabled.

  • What does a circle with slash mean on screen?

My MacMini server has been giving me problems. It won't stay on. First I got the folder with the question mark. Now, I'm getting a symbol of a circle with a line through it. I've been to the Genius Bar. They put the two disk drives as one, and put a clean copy of the system on it. I brought it home, updated the system as per the Apple store notification, put on Filemaker server, 1Password, and Dropbox. It's still not working. The tests they've run in the Apple store haven't come up with anything. But what does the circle/slash mean?
    Thanks.

But what does the circle/slash mean?
It means that the the partition you're trying to boot is unusable.
Boot to the Recovery partition, run disk utility and repair your normal boot drive. Then try a restart.

  • IPhone will not play songs that previously worked. Red circle with stop square in the middle.

What should i do to get my iphone to find these songs again. They work fine on itunes, and as i said, they used to work fine on my phone. recently I synced my phone and added a few new songs, once i did that i noticed that about 50-100 different songs or so just no longer play. this is ********! It seems the iphone thinks theyre there but not fully transfered to my phone.... ive resynced my phone several times and its still not helping.... WAY TO GO APPLE!

Try restoring the iPhone to factory settings via iTunes and then to re-sync.
Before you attempt this, restart your iPhone and see whetehr issue is sorted.

  • Couldn't get to the login scrn. Circle with slash symbol. S-mode not helpin

System: *PowerMac G4 DDR 1GHz with 1.25GB RAM and Tiger 10.4.10 (or .11 not sure)*
At first, I could not get the Mac to get to the login screen i.e. it boots up but the timer symbol thing (you know that clockwise 'loading' icon thingy) keeps cycling for hours (eventually I switched it off not to waste electricity).
Tried second time using OS X install disk and check + repair disk, then boot up - still the same symptoms. (NB. Looks like I can do the fresh install though but that is not my intention just now).
Then, did the reset PRAM thing (cmdalt+PR), second chime - folder/question mark (no startup disk screen), then it shows the circle with slash icon on screen, eventually shut it down.
In single user mode, it stops after the 'got bootdisk...' and no flashing of the keyboard cursor.
In verbose mode, almost the same as above.
+Have not changed the PRAM battery or reset PMU. Have been off the grid (off at socket for quite a long period but does not normally do this).+
+In single user mode, one of the line says clock is wrong or reset. After PRAM reset, one line says PMU was reset.+
    My questions are:
    1. What is that circle with slash icon mean? (can only find on Intel Mac pages - could not load boot.efi, or some other issue)
    - ref: <http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2674>
    2. Is installing a new system folder the only solution?
    3. Do I need to get a new battery?
    4. Is my startup hard disk at fault?
    Thanks.
    dean

    Hi Dean,
Have been off the grid (off at socket for quite a long period but does not normally do this).
I'm pretty sure the battery is extremely dead if the computer has been off the grid. Remove the PRAM battery and see if it starts. A new battery is always a good place to begin. We've seen plenty of posters here say their MDD startup problems cleared up with the installation ofa new battery. I get my batteries here:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer%20Technology/BAA36VPRAM/
I don't know your geographic location; if you are not in an area served by the above reseller, you can use the specs in that link to shop locally. Bottom line--you need to eliminate the battery as a suspect before proceeding with troubleshooting.
If a battery is over a year old I don't bother testing it. I've had too many PRAM batteries test 3.6V in my hand yet did not perform well enough under load to propelr work in teh computer.
Another easy thing to try is a Safe Boot. Info here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455
Be sure to give the computer time to get to a desktop--takes longer is safe mode.

  • Red circle with red square inside- what does it mean in iTunes next to songs?

I can't play songs on iTunes that have a red circle with a small red square inside it. What does the symbol mean and how do I get rid of it. I have one iPad 2, one iPhone 5 and one ip[hone 6 plus bit only one iTunes account and one computer where all the songs are stored. The same song will play on the phones but not the iPad!! I really don't want to keep upgrading the software cos really it just creates more problems!!

! = iTunes cannot find the file that contains the media associated with the entry in the iTunes database.  iTunes itself does not contain your music, it just uses a reference to play a file on your computer.  Something happened to break that link.  Many reasons. Your computer may be having directory problems (directory = computer's database of what files it thinks are on the drive).  You may have renamed a folder or file  or moved a folder or file related to iTunes.
When you try to play the file iTunes will ask you if you want to associate a file with that entry.  You can answer yes and look for the file that you think it should play.  If the file is truly missing then you have bigger worries because who knows what else could be missing - the whole reason for computer backups and periodic maintenance.

  • My songs on ipad have a red circle with a red square in the middle and they don't play anyone know what is happening?

Several  songs have the cloud symbol with a red arrow and I think they play. But the ones with the red circle and red square in the center do not play. Can this be fixed> What does it mean?
    Thanks in advance,

    See this Apple support document.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1463
You'll notice that the problem is usually associated with a failed/damaged hard drive, meaning you'll likely need to have your iPod serviced if you want to get it working again.

  • What does a red circle with a stop (square) in it mean next to a song on your iphone?

HI, i just updated both my itunes and my iphones to the newest update relased on 10/23/2013. as i was updating it, my phone said there was an error and i had to restore it, terible huh? it gets worse. I synced all my music back into my phone, but next to each song there was a red circle with a stop sign in the middle, i clicked on the song and it just skipped to the next song. what does it mean ??

    Here is what I tried.
1)Plug your phone into your computer and let it sync
    2) Go through your songs and fast forward through each and everyone of them on your phone, that way all the ones that wont play will have stop signs next to them.
    3) Then go into intunes and go to "file" then "devices" then click transfer purchases from "..."
That's what I did and it helped

  • HT4623 What are the red circles with a red square in the middle by most of my music since the latest up date?

SInce the last iso up date I have red circles with a red square in the middle by most of my music. The music is now greyed out!
    WHy?

Sounds like it is attempting to download the tacks an is hung up.
Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.
You might also try opening Settings > iTunes and app store and signing out then back into you AppleID.
Tapping on the icon you described should also stop the download.
