What is replace powerpc application
what is replacing Powerpc application I just change my G5 10,6 for a macbookpro later 2011 I put Lion 10.8 and I use Logic I upgrade in 9.7 the prob now (@#$?%?$&?) I try tu put some plug in in Logic I cant because is no Powerpc app in lion... where is something or what is replace that app ??? I need to finish my progect and again Im very sad about that.
It's like the commercial Déjà.. Déjà.. Déjà.. Déjà.. Déjà.. Vue
You either have to Upgrade your previously based PPC App to a new Mountain Lion compatible version, OR you need to make a backup of your internal hard drive to an external drive, then erase the internal hard drive and reinstall an older version of OS X that can run PPC based Apps (basically OS X 10.6.8 or before). That's about the extent of your options.
Hope this helps

So I've been trying to open some Microsoft Word Documents and it says it can't be opened because PowerPC applications are no longer supported. What do I do about this?
Workarounds:
1. Restore the OS X that you formerly used to run Word 2004;
2. Partition your hard drive or attach an external hard drive and install Snow Leopard (and Rosetta) so that you can "dual-boot" into Microsoft Word 2004;
3. Upgrade to Word 2011 or use an alternative program; or
4. The solution I use: Install Snow Leopard (and Rosetta) into Parallels 7 or 8:

I can't install my old logic 8 on my new macbook pro. It says it does not support powerpc applications anymore. what do i need to do?? this is ridiculous!!!
Logic 8 will probably run on your new machine but the installation program contains some older PPC code for pre Intel Macs. This was not a problem as all OSX versions contained the "Rosetta" PPC emulation, that is, up until Lion when all PPC emulation was dropped.
There are ways to do this however, try searching Google for: Installing Logic 8 under Lion or Mountain Lion. -
I am getting a message "can't open because PowerPC applications are no longer supported." What do I do about these programs?
In defense of the original poster, I just went through the Lion page (http://www.apple.com/macosx/) and the sub-pages linked on the top (including the 250 new features) and nowhere does it say anything about dropping Rosetta/PowerPC compatibility. A simple compatibility line in the tech specs page could help these kinds of threads. Nevertheless, the argument that Apple should have made this change more prominent is quite valid IMO.
Remember that Apple prides itself on being simple so don't expect everyone to be as up to date on compatibility issues as you. With the big uptake of new users in the last couple of years, these kind of questions should be expected, especially since most users are coming from Windows where compatibility is king (I can run apps from 10+ years ago with almost no issues).
Complicating the issue further is that there is no obvious way to see which older applications are PPC and which are not (who knew Warcraft 3 was PPC and not universal??).
A simple solution could be for Apple to provide copy of Rosetta that users can purchase if they want compatibility. Who knows, maybe such a solution is going to come from a third party -
I just updated to Lion and my Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint will not open because PowerPC applications are no longer supported. I bought this software from Apple and the store installed it when I bought the MAC. What do I do?
Buy version 2011 of MS Office.
Or you can download OpenOffice, LibreOffice or NeoOffice, which all come very close to working with MS files just like MS Office does.
Or iWord, I have heard, you can purchase. -
ok so I have OS X Lion now and this is what I get:
"You can't open the application Lexmark All In One Center because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."look for the latest drivers on the maker's website.
check it in your list. this is a lexmark issue not a lion issue.

I just download mountain lion to my mac, now microsoft office suite doesn't work....it says 'you can't open the application 'microsoft word' because PowerPC applications are no longer supported. What does this mean and what do I have to do to fix it?? HELP!!
Install Snow Leopard on another boot partition, or upgrade Microsoft Office to a newer version, or use any number of better alternatives. Some of them are free.
Consider
LibreOffice (donation-supported)
NeoOffice ($10)
OpenOffice (completely free)
In addition to the above I also recommend Apple's Pages ($19.99). I use OpenOffice and Pages and have been completely Microsoft - free for over a year now. Life is better without Microsoft. -

I have a disc for Final Draft 7 screenwriting software. My attempt to use it today failed because "PowerPC applications are no longer supported." I don't even know what this really means. Can anyone please tell me how to work around this or get those applications supported (as they must have been before)? Thanks.
PowerPC was the processor type for Macs prior to 2006. It was coded in a way that is not compatible with the 2006 and later Intel-based Macs. To ease the transition, Apple included a way for the OS to "translate older programs coded for PwoerPC Macs so they would run on Intel Macs.
This lasted about six years. PowerPC Support for pre-Intel Mac software, which through OS 10.6.8 was handled by Rosetta emulation, disappeared with OS 10.7 in 2011.
You either need to upgrade Final Draft to a version that supports Macs with Intel Processors, or use your current software on an older Mac. -
When trying to open a word document, I get the error message that PowerPC applications are no longer supported. What can I do?
Thanks.IMHO the free apps are a band aid fix. If the OP uses Office on a regular basis he will need to upgrade anyway. Personally I have used neooffice and found it substandard however that was just my take. I haven't tried Google's solution.
We both forgot to mention the OP could also use Pages and Numbers to open their Word and Excel files. If he uses Entourage then Mail and iCal would be viable substitutes. -
"powerPC applications are no longer supported" what can i do??
I'm trying to download Sims3 Island Paradise, available for Mac, and I keep getting the message "powerPC applications are no longer supported" what can i do?? All other Sims3 downloads have worked. I have the right disc etc and its not an illegal download.
The Lion OS does not support PPC applications. Check with the vendor if they have a version compatible with Lion.

i purchased dvd studio pro and im trying to install it but when i go to click continue it gives me this "you cant open the application gestalt tool becasue powerpc applications are no longer supported" what does that mean and how can i fix this ?
I note this information from Wikipedia: "DVD Studio Pro was a high-end software tool published by Apple Inc. to allow users to create DVD masters to be sent out for replication at production houses. Its tight integration with other Apple applications allows users to take Final Cut Pro and Motion projects and render them into the DVD format without encoding to intermediary formats. This streamlines the production workflow and reduces overhead."
If that is your intent, finding a substitute program that will run on your Mac may not be as efficient. Others can advise you on alternatives, or you can post a new thread specifically with that question.
BTW: what Mac and what version of OS X?
If it is important to you to continue to use DVD Studio Pro, consider the option of installing Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels on your Mac:

What is powerpc application?
I am trying to install a DVD-ROM into my MacBook Pro. The message I received when I clicked on the Install button is " Finder: you can't open the application install.osx because PowerPC applications are no longer supported". What does this mean and what do I have to do to correct this problem? Thanks in advance
It's a DVD put out by a texbook publisher which contains powerpoints of all of the images in the book - to be used for teaching. It corresponds to the most recent edition of the book which came out last year. It's called PHDAL.APP
Although I wasn't able to run it on my Mac (which really bugs), I was able to open it up on a PC here in the library & then copy the PPT's to my flash & open them on my Mac ... nothing like adding extra steps to something that supposed to make your life easier! -
Using our Enterprise License key Design Standard, and Design Premium, Design Web, and Web Premium don't show up as applications we can package in Creative Cloud Packager. What apps replaces these in CC?
If your machine does not meet the tech specs for an application, the application will not be listed/offered in the manager. In this case Premiere Pro CC is a 64-bit application and your machine is 32-bit.
