What is resolution for uploading photos to Walgreens?

Hi:
I just bought my first Mac computer and am trying to do the proper upload to Walgreens.  I successfully installed the automated uploader.  My question is from a PC, when I upload photos I have the option of choosing to upload in both a medium and high resolution mode.  With my iMac, when I do an upload, the Walgreens' software does not give my a choice of high or medium resolution.
Do any of you know what the default upload to Walgreens is or how I choose the option?
Thanks very much!

Hi!
Walgreens will take whatever uploads you send and will resize accordingly. I use walgreens a lot and I don't bother to resize my pics.
However, if you do have super-high-res JPG's and you want to save upload time, you should account for 300dpi and export your photos accordingly.
For example, if you only want 4x6's you want to export your selected photos to a folder, and choose a limit of 1800 pixels (6 x 300 = 1800) or if you want 8 x 10 you can go for (10 x 300 = 3000 pixels)
Resizing locally will save you upload time since DSL/Cable upload much slower than they download. And don't worry, 300dpi here isn't the same as on inkjets. The pictures are still way clearer and more robust (conventional photo paper) than, say, "1200 dpi" types of printers.

  • What format and size must I use for uploading photos in Creative Cloud?

I don't know what format (TIF, JPG etc.) and size to use for uploading photos into the cloud.

    Hi John,
There are no restrictions on the file types you can store in Creative Cloud. However, you’ll be unable to share some file types, such as audio, video, fonts, executable, and application extensions. Sharing of these files is restricted for copyright and security reasons.

In that page is shows a link you should see for a "basic upload tool". Their service may use Java so you may have to "enable" it in Safari.

  • Why does it take so long for uploaded photos to appear in the photos folder?

It takes too long for uploaded photos to appear in the photos folders.  I do not like the "new" photos.  I much prefer iPhoto.  Can I make iPhoto my default or am I stuck with this stupid Photos???  Editing is lousy, too.

Can I make iPhoto my default or am I stuck with this stupid Photos?
You can continue using iPhoto depending on what version your have?  Currently the only version that runs with 10.10.3 is iPhoto 9.6.1.  What version do you have?  Also do you have a backup copy of your iPhoto library made just prior to upgrading to 10.10.3?

  • What Print Resolution for Epson R800?

I wonder what the value for "Print Resolution" in the Printer module should be to print with an Epson R800 on glossy or luster paper at the highest quality settings (Photo RPM).
I would rather not have LR do any re-sampling... but given it asks for a resolution, I am unsure what is the best value to provide.

    Antonio,
LR is limited to 480 dpi, not printer ppi:
"This number of ink drops a printer can put on paper is called the printer resolution dpi. So if a printer has a resolution of 1200 dpi but requires 16 drops of ink to display a color, the actual resolution is much lower. Since ink drops are used in both directions (length and width: 16 drops made up of 4 rows of 4 drops), you could say that the effective resolution would be 1200 divided by 4 (or 300) dpi. Practically this isn't entirely true since modern inkjet printer can spray tiny ink drops that overlap each other. Roughly you can say that the higher the printer dpi, the higher the print quality, but it also depends on how the printer forms the dots on paper."

  • Are JPEG 3504x2336 pixel pictures too high resolution for the photo books?

    Hi,
I am done creating my photo book and I am ready to order, but I'd like to know if my pictures are too high resolution. They are professional wedding pictures so they are 7.4 mb each JPEG 3504x2336 pixel pictures. (Last time, I printed through MyPublisher but the pages with multiple pictures didn't turn out well and they said it was because the resolution was too high so when they compressed the file for the pages with multiple pictures it didn't turn out well.) Will I run into the same problem if I print directly through Iphoto?
If I do need to lower the resolution, how do I do it, given that I've aready created the book?
Thanks for any help you can give me!

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
When you order the book it will be compressed and a PDF will be created. That PDF is what gets uploaded to Apple (via Kodak) for printing. So the best way to check your book before ordering is to create a PDF, then inspect it. Chances are, what you see in your PDF is what you will get printed.
To do this, select your book and do File > Print. You'll get an "Assembling book" progress bar. That can take several minutes. When done, you get the Print Dialog box. Click the PDF button and choose "Save as PDF..." Choose a name and location for the file (the Desktop is convenient) and Save. Then switch to the Finder and open that PDF in Preview. You might select a page or two and do a test print yourself, to see if the quality looks good. The PDF saves you from having to print out the whole book yourself to check for errors.

  • Acceptable File Size and Resolution for Still Photos in Keyframe Motion

    Hello Hello
I know that FCE HD (as other Video Editors), will automatically fit a still photo's size to it's default capability of 720 x 480 Correct?
Well, in regard to making the best possible ZOOMS, and Pans from Still Photos, is it neccessary to re-size all your photos (from an external editor like photoshop), to a specfic size?
According to an older book for FCE, it sez that actually photos re-sized to 720x534 with a resolution of 72 are best. *The proper proportion for NTSC.
And I noticed that when I inserted larger JPG still sizes (like about a meg), on the FCE timline, and when applying Panning, or Zooms, some of the rendered images with motion didn't pan or zoom smoothly.
Is that because those file sizes were TOO large?
Well I have soooo many stills that need to be imported into this particular project that it would be a lot easier for me to just generally reduce these stills (by percentage).
And is the magic resolution amount supposed to be 72?
Because if that's the case I can re-size all my photos to 72, and try to keep the file sizes down to say 300 KB's or so.
    Sound like a plan?

    Thank you guys
"basically, you should try to make your images large enough so they never have to be scaled beyond 100% in the motion tab in fcp."
Actually as I mentioned some of these file sizes are very large. About 800-900 KB's - and what as a result, what I've noticed is that I actually had to DECREASE the viewing area in both the Browser Window, and the Canvas Winbow just to be able to see the whole image.
Ok - so the 72 DPI is not as important as the dimensions of the photo. But as I said I have soooooo many of these that it would take me forever to manually re-size them all not to mention the fact that re-sizing some of them (odd shapes),would throw the images out of balance.
So again I ask - if there is NO motion applied to the photo, file sizes of about 200 to 350 KB's appear just beautifully ....
    BUT
If I need to PAN or ZOOM, is it ok to laod a 1 MEG sized JPG onto the timeline and start working with Keyframe?????
In fact in some cases I'm actually using these larger file JPS's (1 meg or more), so that they TOTALLLY fit the canvas window (cropping them by enlargment)
*With some clipping of the original image of course ...
    Why do I do this?
So that you don't see the usual border with horizontal images, or vertical images - know what I mean?
    Thanx

  • Image Resolution for Printing Photos

I am not sure if the resolution/files size requirements are the same for both inkjets (e.g. Epson) and taking your camera's SD card to a local self-serve kiosk (e.g. CVS).
I have been taking photos at the larger file size with my Canon Powershot and importing them into iPhoto. But I just realize that I am going to have a gigantic iPhoto library a lot sooner then expected.
But let's say I wanted to print theses images to a typical 4" x 6" dimension gloss paper stock. What is the rule of thumb in terms of minimum/ideal resolution and file size of the image(s) that I want to print? What about 8.5" x 11"?
Below is the available settings for my camera:
    L = 4000 x 3000 = 12MB file
    M1 = 3264 x 2448 = 8MB file
    M2 = 2592 x 1944 = 5 MB file
    M3 = 1600 x 1200 = 2MB file
    S = 640 x 480 = 0.3 MB file
Sometime when I open the original JPG in Photoshop the resolution is at 72 lpi. Other times it will be 180 lpi. I guess I am trying to get a sense of what resolution I should set my camera at and what adjustments do I need to make (if any) when it is time to print to paper stock.

The rule of thumb is 300 dpi. But it's  rule of thumb and you can get excellent images from 180 or less with a: a good printer and b: (most importantly) a good shot, well focused and exposed.
    So to find out the maximum you'll get at 300dpi from your list, just divide the numbers by 300: 4000 x 3000 / 300 = 13.3 x 10 print.
For my money: set your camera to the best quality and size always. It's easy to through throw away bits og a photo, but you can't add in missing bits after the fact. Maximum everything gives you most margin for error.
If you're worried about space then remember you can run a Library from an external drive:
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

  • Resolution for Still Photos for film

    Greetings,
I have a full length Digital Video film and want to add still photos to it. I have been using Photo to Movie software to add a Ken Burns effect to the photo, then exporting it under the movie format- DV(NTSC) 720x480, then importing that to the final cut time line. My question is what is the best resolution in the first place for the still photo before I do this process or is it okay to use the final render size from the Photo to Movie export? Or do you have a better idea.

I would suggest you to check your export preferences but it is my understanding that if you render the movie file, and then export, it you should be able to set the QT option for NTSC DV.

  • Where is a right place for uploaded photos: in/out of a container?

I have an impression that the type of directory shalln't be context related since a web application can be deployed in the form of .war file without expansion at least from the Tomcat 4.
A problem of this setting is that a web server (on the top of the container) appends the scheme ("http:") and the server name in the front of the phyical path to yield a invalid path.
So what is the right way to have a photo upload directory?
    Thanks for your input.
    v.

    Hi,
I think there are three ways for a File Upload Functionality.
    1. Uploading the files to the Web Server's Path (which obviously has the problem that you have quoted)
    2. Uploading the files to temporary directory and then writing them to the database in teh form of Binary content. This has the overhead of the file being stored in the DB.
    3. Uploading the files to a predefined directory. It could be any directory in the Application Server where you want to store it. it could be something like D:\Uploads. Now you need to write a Servlet which picks up the File from the Directory and then displays it with the respective Content Type.
I think the third Method is more flexible but it has its disadvantage. The predeined directory should be loacted in the same machine where the Application Server is located.
Hope this gives an idea how to do it.
If you still have doubts, let me know.

  • Step by step procedure for uploading photos from iPhone to a PC

I have over 4000 pictures taken with iPhone, but still not yet be able to upload them to a PC.
    1) When connected to my IBM Thinkpad X40 with Windows XP, it says "device not on" when iPhone is off, and says "device is in use" when iPhone is on.
    2) When connected to my IBM Thinkpad Lenovo T60p, it says "camera detected succssefully", but just does not upload.
Can any one help me with a specific stepwise procedure? Do we need to install some special iPhone driver for the uploading? As you know, the iPhone manual says that the iTune is only one way sync for album.
    Many thanks,

    Hi Nathan,
Thanks for the reply. I could see "Apple iPhone" when I plugged it in (not as a removable device), but it alwayse says "the device is being used" when I turn the iPhone on, and says "device is off" when I leave the iPhone off, which is a paradox. What mode do you leave your iPhone on when you do the transfer? Any setting is needed in iPhone itself? Do I need to install a specific driver for iPhone (I do not recall one with the purchase)?

  • Drag and drop photo files into photo lab website for uploading photos, worked in old version but not in new version.

drag and drop ability not available in new version. I am trying to upload a large number of photo file to an online photo site for processing and the drag and drop does not work it did on the old version.

Nothing to be fixed. Just a little learning for you.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Poor screen resolution for wallpaper photos

I used a picture of my son for the wallpaper but the resolution is terrible.  Very blurry.  I tried a number of high res photos but they all were blurry as wallpaper.  How can you get the resolution improved.  My Droid X looks great.

I am experiencing the same thing. My Droid X looks 100x better for picture viewing than the Bionic. Yet, specs say the bionic has a better resolution. Are we missing something? I viewed the same picture on Facebook on both cameras, and hands down the droid X is superior...

  • IPhoto seems to have lost photo resolution for some photos

I recently upgrade to iPhoto8. I have set of photos in 2006 which now have only about 50KB file size. It is if they are thumbnails, not the orignal photos whose file size was 500KB to + 1MB etc.
I noticed that in my orignals folder I sometimes have multiple folders for the same day or roll. i.e. Roll 1, Roll 1_2, Roll13. These folders seem to be duplicates of the pictures, and the folder with the underscore naming sometimes has the photo with the bigger file size.
Any understadning how this could have happened or how/where iPhoto stores the orignal files so I might locate and recover, is appreciated.
    Thanks
    MikeK

Can anyone comment on why iPhoto is creating these additional directories?
    ie. Roll 1, "Roll 1_2", "Roll 1_3"
    ie. "November 18, 2006", "November 18, 2006_2"
I guess as an adjunct, if I want to back up my photo's an guarantee I have the actual origianls, should I back up the "Originals" folder?
    Thanks
