we plan to install new Oracle RAC on AIX 64 bit with 6.1 version . we need to know what is restriction on hostname ..like it should not contain dash character or not exceed X Character ...

Looking on how to change the name of installed ORACLE home on AIX

After a review of multiple database servers we noticed that the ORACLE_HOME name in the installer is wrong.
In order to get all the systems in line with each other I need to correct the faulty name. But the ora installer only shows the name.It does not have an option to rename it.
I know the name only exists to be a pointer in the ora installer. But it needs to change so the server is conform to our naming policy
currently we are using a oracle 9.2.0.8 database on a AIX server

Your referal has to do with moving the ORACLE_HOME. I do not intend to move the files. The path where the oracle soft is stored for the HOME in question is valid. I only intend to alter its name.
i'm afraid the only option open to me will be to edit the orainventory files manually and change the value stored there. Impact should be minimal as thisd is only used for th einstaller as far as i could find out. Could somebody concur that this is indeed the case

I have played with oracle toolset for last 10 years on windows environment But never run oracle on Apple computer. I would buy imac or macbook for testing purpose. I would install Oracle database and developer suit(if possible) on Apple computer. What model (minimum requirement like memory, hard dist, operating system, CPU power) I should buy for this purpose.

For installation of oracle database on apple computer, all apple systems are compatible.
you can install oracle database 10.2.0.4 on mac system.

In Windows 8, Windows easy transfer is also a built in tool to migrate user profiles and user settings, but as for the offline transfer, I suggest to use the USMT for your situation.
Because with USMT you can specify the folder that you want to migrate the files to, by using an offline.xml you can set the path just as the sample listed below:

As per my knowledge this both are completly different concepts and have different use.
SAP Livecache is used in SAP SCM/APO to increase speed of processing by using main memeory
Whereas Oracle RAC is used for HA and scalability.

If you are talking about iCloud email you shouldn't need to put anything in. Sign in in System Preferences>iCloud and check 'Mail' in the checklist there and it should set it up automatically.
