  • What is SAP best practice for SU24 "no check" indicators

    Hi Experts,
Let's say during testing if we find a t-code needs some authorization objects for end to end execution, and those objects are maintained as "CHECK" "NO" in USOBX_C.
    Please suggest the best practice...
Should we change the proposal in USOBX_C to "CHECK" "YES" and populate specific values in USOBT_C or we can insert those authorization objects manually in the roles without changing proposals??
As far as I know, it makes upgrade activities more difficult when there is more customization in these tables....However manual insert of auth objects are not impacted during upgrade and also any SU24 maintenance of custom t-codes.
    Thanks,
    Deb

    Subject title made more meaingful.

Normally there is some thought which went into the "no check" flag so you should put some thought into it before testing it to turn it on. It might force you to grant access for that transaction context but have the implication that in other transactions the user can access too much again.
There are however some authorization objects which were added with support packs with this "no check" in the hope of adding the authority-checks into the code to make them possible, but deliver them as backward compatible with existing roles. This is a work-around for not being able to deliver it as deactivated globally in transaction AUTH_SWITCH_OBJECTS.
You can find the candidates by sorting the + 12k entries in USOBX_C by object name and finding those which were dealt with in a very liberal way. Check the docs and OSS notes for them.
Other than that I can only say that a best practice which I believe in is to remove some of the odd things in SU24 immediately after the installation. This means that you later (and as required) only need to add proposals and checks. That is much less error-prone than removing proposals and checks again!

  • What’s the best practice for this scenario?

    Hi,
My users want the ability to change the WHERE and/or ORDER BY clause at runtime. They may define user preferences on each screen ( which is bind to a view object). They want to see the same records based on WHERE/ORDER BY defined on the last visit. That is why I keep the users preferences and load the screen based on that, using :
    View.setWhereClause(...);
    View.setOrderByClause(...);
    View.executeQuery();
This works good when only one user working with the application but faced low performance when more than one user working with the application.
What are the points to increase the performance and what is the best practice for this scenario?
Thanks for your help in advance.

    Sung,
I am talking only about 2 users in my testing. I am sure i missed something but could not recognize that.
This page is my custom query page including a tag to instantiate app module in stateful mode at the top <jbo:ApplicationModule..> and a tag to instantiate data source <jbo:Datasource...> and release tag at the bottom <jbo:ReleasePageResources..> and some java code in the middle(body). The java code constructed the query statement and then fires the query to set the view object based on the query statement using the above methods.
So, I am facing very slow performance(speed) when two clients load this page at the same time. Looks like the entire application locks for others when one client load this page and fire the query. i realized the battle neck is where executeQuery() is executing.
    what do you think.
Thanks in advance for your comments.

  • SAP Best Practice for Document Type./Item category/Acc assignment cat.

What is the Best Practice for the document Type & Item category
    I want to use NB -  Item category  - B & K ( Blanket PO) , D ( Service)  and T( Text) .
Is sap recommends to use FO Only for the Blanket Purchase Order.
We want to use service contract (with / without service entry sheet) for all our services.
We want to buy asset for our office equipments .
Which is the best one to use NB or FO ?
Please give me any OSS notes or reference for this
    Thanks
    Nick

Thank you very much for your response.
I hope I can provide some clarity on how the accounting needs to be handle per FERC  Regulations.  The G/L balance on the utility that is selling the assets will be in the following accounts (standard accounts across all FERC Regulated Utilities):
101 - Acquisition Value for the assets
108 - Accumulated Depreciation Value for the assets
For an example, there is Debit $60,000,000 in FERC Account 101 and a credit $30,000,000 in FERC Account 108.  When the purchase occurs, the net book value for the asset will be on our G/L in FERC Account 102.  Once we have FERC Approval to acquire the plant assets, we will need to enter the Acquisition Value and associated Accumulated Depreciation onto our G/L to FERC Account 101 and FERC Account 108 respectively with an offset to FERC Account 102.
The method that I came up with is to purchase the NBV of the assets to a clearing account.  I then set up account assignments that will track the Acquisition Value and respective Accumulated Depreciation for each asset that is being purchased.  I load the respective asset values using t-code AS91 and then make an entry to the 2 respective accounts with the offset against the clearing account using t-code OASV.  Once my company receives FERC approval, I will transfer the asset to new assets that has the account assignments for FERC Account 101 and FERC Account 108 using t-code ABUMN or FB01.

  • What is the Best practice for ceramic industry?

    Dear All;
i would like to ask two questions:
1- which manufacturing category (process or discrete) fit ceramic industry?
2- what is the Best practice for ceramic industry?
please note from the below link
    [https://websmp103.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=011000358700000409682008E ]
i recognized that ceramic industry is under category called building material which in turn under mill product and mining
but there is no best practices for building material or even mill product and only fabricated meta and mining best practices is available.
    thanks in advance

    Hi,
I understand that you refer to production of ceramic tiles. The solution for PP was process, with these setps: raw materials preparation (glazes and frits), dry pressing (I don't know extrusion process), glazing, firing (single fire), sorting and packing. In Spain, usually are All-in-one solutions (R/3 o ECC solutions). Perhaps the production of decors have fast firing and additional processes.
In my opinion, the curiosity is in batch determination in SD, that you must determine in sales order because builders want that the order will be homogeneus in tone and caliber, and he/she can split the order in diferents deliveries. You must think that batch is tone (diferents colours in firing and so on) and in caliber.
    I hope this helps you
    Regards,
    Eduardo

  • Best practice for test reports location -multiple installers

    Hi,
What is recommended best practice for saving test reports with multiple installers of different applications:
For example, if I have 3 different teststand installers: Installer1, Installer2 and Installer3 and I want to save test reports of each installer at:
    1. C:\Reports\Installer1\TestReportfilename
    2. C:\Reports\Installer2\TestReportfilename
    3. C:\Reports\Installer3\TestReportfilename
How could I do this programatically as to have all reports at the proper folder when teststand installers are deployed to a test PC?
    Thanks,
    Frank

There's no recommended best practice for what you're suggesting. The example here shows how to programmatically modify a report path. And, this Knowledge Base describes how you can change a report's filepath based on test results.

  • What is a good strategy for keeping the OEM GRID up and running?

    Hi,
What is a good strategy for keeping OEM GRID up and running? Currently, we have grid installed on one linux64bit box with 4 cpus and 8 gigs of RAM, oms 10204, repdb 10204, agent 10204. In addition to using this oem grid for notifications and performance monitring, we are also using this oem grid for scheduling over 700 jobs running over 30 targets.
What is a good strategy to have to backup the grid so that when this box goes down, we can restore and then recover the grid? Please lead to white papers or documentations. Thank you.

  • What is the best practice for creating primary key on fact table?

what is the best practice for primary key on fact table?
    1. Using composite key
    2. Create a surrogate key
    3. No primary key
In document, i can only find "From a modeling standpoint, the primary key of the fact table is usually a composite key that is made up of all of its foreign keys."
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e16579/logical.htm#i1006423
I also found a relevant thread states that primary key on fact table is necessary.
    Primary Key on Fact Table.
But, if no business requires the uniqueness of the records and there is no materilized view, do we still need primary key? is there any other bad affect if there is no primary key on fact table? and any benifits from not creating primary key?

Well, natural combination of dimensions connected to the fact would be a natural primary key and it would be composite.
Having an artificial PK might simplify things a bit.
Having no PK leads to a major mess. Fact should represent a business transaction, or some general event. If you're loading data you want to be able to identify the records that are processed. Also without PK if you forget to make an unique key the access to this fact table will be slow. Plus, having no PK will mean that if you want to used different tools, like Data Modeller in Jbuilder or OWB insert / update functionality it won't function, since there's no PK. Defining a PK for every table is a good practice. Not defining PK is asking for a load of problems, from performance to functionality and data quality.

  • What are the best practices for generating an EPS logo from InDesign?

Our costomer is running into technical issues with the logo we sent them, which was exported from Indesign. Images were not embedded and fonts missing. I was able to embed the images and fonts. However, we DO NOT want them to be able to make any text changes. So after exporting an eps, I opened the file in Adobe Illustrator and made all the text outlines. I hope this works. But I just wanted to post the question on what are the best practices for doing this?
The client needs the logo with transparent background, images emebdded and type in outlines. Also, they need some space around the text. When I exported the eps, the file is right up on the edge of the type.

It sounds like you are pretty far from "best practice" with regard to logo design and delivery.
These days, the very use of the EPS format should be considered bad practice, and some other terms in your post, (i.e., 'images,' 'missing fonts'), make it sound like there is not a seasoned logo designer involved.
That said, you probably already got the advice you need to get out of the immediate jam. However, without proper logo design, you and the client will soon be facing other problems. You should be delivering a 100% vector graphic in single-color (black) and corporate-color(s) versions, with no live font data, that has been test-scaled to very small and very large sizes; ensuring it will work at postage-stamp size and on the side of a truck or building, with specific spot color(s) and proportions that will enable it to be offset printed, embroidered and screen-printed on apparel, and cut into signage materials and decals.

  • What is the best practice for AppleScript deployment on several machines?

    Hi,
I am developing some AppleScripts for my colleagues at work and I don't want to visit each of them to deploy my AppleScript on their Macs.
So, what is the best practice for AppleScript deployment on several machines?
Is there an installer created by the Automator available?
I would like to have something like an App to run which puts all my AppleScript relevant files into the right place onto a destination Mac.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,

There's really no 'right place' to put applescripts.  folder action scripts nees to go in ~/Library/Scripts/Folder Action Scripts (or /Library/Scripts/Folder Action Scripts), anything you want to appear in the script menu needs to go in ~/Library/Scripts (or /Library/Scripts), script applications should probably go in the Applications folder, but otherwise scripts can be placed anywhere.  conventional places to put them are in ~/Library/Scripts or in a subfolder of ~/Library/Application Support if they are run by an application.  The more important issue is to make sure you generalize the scripts: use the path to command to get local paths rather than hard-coding them in, make sure you test to make sure applications or unic executables you call are present ont he machine, use script bundles rather tna scripts if you scripts have private resources.
You can write a quick installer script if you want to make sure scripts go where you want them.  Skeleton verion looks like this:
set scriptsFolder to path to scripts folder from user domain
set scriptsToExport to path to resource "xxx.scpt" in directory "yyy"
    tell application "Finder"
duplicate scriptsToExport to scriptsFolder with replacing
    end tell
    say "Scripts are installed"
save this as a script application, then open the application pacckage and create a folder called "yyy" in the resources folder and copy your script "xxx.scpt" into it.  other people can run the app to install the script.

  • SAP Best Practice for Chemicals in an oil refinery

Does anyone have experience in implementing the SAP Best Practice for Chemicals in an oil refinery that will also use IS-OIL?
What would be the pros and cons?
What is the implementation price of considering a best practice solution for a large complex organization?

    Hi Oded,
I don't know about any Best Practice Chemicals implementation in an refinery so far.
But you can use Best Practice Chemicals with SAP IS-Oil for the non IS-Oil functionality as well.
Best Practice Chemicals gives you benefits within standard business processes, but for the
IS-Oil business processes you have to consider the traditon implementation methods.
Best Practice Chemicals gives you a broad business process set, usually used in Chemical
corporation. If you can cover 50% of your needed business processes out of Best Practice Chemicals you save approx 50% implementation time. It is not only implemenentation you save a lot in documentation and training material as well. Most of our Best Practice Chemicals implemenations used
60-80% out of Best Practice Chemicals. At a large corporation the percentage of standard ERP processes is normally smaller, because of other additional needed SAP solutions e.g. APO, SRM, CRM etc.

  • SAP Best Practice For Unicode Upgrades - NetWeaver 2004s

    Team SAP,
I have a customer that is starting to plan for a Unicode upgrade.  The question from the customer is as follows:
What is the SAP Best Practice for Unicode Upgrades?  They will be upgrading from a BW 3.5 System to NetWeaver 2004s, and their question is ... should they:
       a) Perform the Unicode Upgrade At The Same Time As Their BW 3.5 > NetWeaver 2004s Upgrade, or
