?? WHAT IS  SIMPLEST G4 OS 10 HARDWARE CONFIGURATION FOR A LOCAL NETWORK ??

I want to local network my 3 G4 Macs so I can transfer files like with FIREWIRE;
?? What is the most BASIC REFERENCE for doing this outside of Firewire,
(rather than various opinions) ??
I will appreciate any REFERENCES.

Hi Ken,
Pretty simple, take a gander at this, then come back with questions if you have them...

    Hi ,
The note is currently for internal checking as it has undergone some internal checking.I am just pasting the note info in this reply.
The Business Explorer of SAP NetWeaver 2004s is supported for the Win XP and win2000 platforms. The hardware and software requirements under the different platforms are given below.
    software requirement for Windows XP
       OS    : Windows XP
       Browser : IE 6.0
       Excel : 2002 and 2003
    software requirement for Windows 2000
       OS    : Windows 2000
       Browser : IE 6.0
       Excel : 2002 and 2003
.Net Framework version 1.1 is a pre-requisite for the Business Explorer  of SAP NetWeaver 2004s in both the platforms. It's a freeware, which can  be downloaded from the Microsoft site.
Older versions of Microsoft Excel, for example Microsoft Excel 97 and 2000, are not supported. On the browser side Firefox is not supported at present.
Hardware used in this case is Pentium 4, 2.8 GHz,1 GB memory and 40 GB HDD. The Hard disk space and Min and recommended Memory usage for the Business Explorer of SAP NetWeaver 2004s is mentioned below
        HDD Space   : 380 MB
        Memory Min  : 384 MB
        Recommended : 512 MB
Note: The actual memory used under Windows XP platform is 146 MB.The amount of memory used by OS before SAP GUI installation is 137 MB The amount of memory used by OS after SAP GUI installation is 283 MB
(256 MB is still sufficient for XP, but sometimes when SAP GUI is executed the system may start swapping)

  • Need hardware configuration for server

    Hi All,
Need server hardware configuration for deploying and maintaining SSAS cube. Consider OLTP size as 100 GB
    Thanks,
    ATRSAMS

    Hi Atrsams,
According to your description, you need some hardware recommendations for deploying and maintaining a SQL Server Analysis Services cube, right?
Though this isn't a sizing recommendation, I'd encourage you to buy as much memory as you can afford. This is generally the choke point I've seen on servers, especially when using SSAS. For the detail information about it, please refer to the links below.

  • Hardware configuration for 5.5

    Hello Everyone!
    I am a total newbie......
Anyway, I just purchased a new computer.  Although many of you would laugh at what I bought, it was all I could afford.  There are some good things about it and some probably not.  My question is, I bought a 1.5 Tb hard drive (only 1) and I am wondering what is the best configuration for it?  Should I partition it, etc.
As I said, I am a total newb at this and I am just beginning so I will not be making re-editing any motion pictures anytime soon but just taking old 8mm family stuff and working with this as my practice stage.
    Thanks,
    -myParkster

NEVER EVER do a partition !!!
    Read http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708?tstart=0
My 3 hard drives are configured as... (WD = Western Digital)
    1 - 320G WD Win7 64bit Pro and all program installs
2 - 320G WD Win7 swap file and video project files
3 - 1T WD all video files... input & output files
Search Microsoft to find out how to redirect your Windows swap file

Trying to use only ONE Hard Drive for Video Editing
You are a music conductor, with a baton that you use to point to various parts of the orchestra... this is like Windows pointing to various parts of the hard drive to do Windows housekeeping or to load program segments for various functions
Now, at the same time and with the same hand... while still using the baton to conduct the orchestra... pick up a bow and play a fiddle... this would be doing something with your video file at the same time as all the other work
You as a person cannot do both at the same time with the same hand
A computer is a LITTLE better, in that it can switch from one kind of task to another very quickly... but not quickly enough for EASY video editing
You need AT LEAST two hard drives (separate drives, never a partition http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708?tstart=0 for more) with Windows (or Mac OS) and software on your boot drive, and video files on a 2nd drive so the boot drive is not slowed down by trying to do everything
I find that the three drives I use work very well for me, for editing AVCHD video... some people use a 4th drive, so video INPUT files are on drive three and all OUTPUT files are on drive four... I only bought a mid-tower case instead of a full tower case (my bad... but had to fit in the space available on my office desk!) so I use the three drives that will fit
Depending on your exact hardware (motherboard brand & model AND USB2 enclosure brand & model AND external hard drive brand & model) AND the type of video file, you may... or may NOT... be able to use an external USB2 hard drive for video editing
Steve Grisetti in the Premiere Elements forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/856208?tstart=0 and Jim Simon in the Premiere Pro forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/856433?tstart=0 use USB externals for editing
A USB3 hard drive connected to a motherboard with USB3 is supposed to be fast enough for video editing (I don't have such, so don't know) but eSata DOES have a fast enough data transfer for video editing... I have not used this eSata Dock... for reference only, YMMV and all the usual disclaimers

  • A reasonable hardware configuration for Linux OAS

Has anyone out there tried to run
Oracle 8 for Linux and OAS 3.02
all on the same toasted PC/pentium server?
Could you tell me the nature of your
hardware configuration (processor speed, ram, etc)
if you feel the performance is acceptable for
development (not for actual business operation).
The technical FAQ lists 48 megs and any
Pentium to run Oracle 8 for Linux which
    verges on ridiculously low.
I just want to know a reasonable
configuration to run both Oracle 8 and OAS .

    I have been runnig OAS/O8 on a Pii/300Mhz system with 128mb of
ram, and so far I have no real complaints on speed. I even tuned
the SGA to give a little better performance and still have around
40 or so MB free. BTW, I haven't really tried to mess around
with the Linux version of OAS, but have used the Solaris version
previously, have you noticed any problems with the wrb starting
up? I have seen some error messages saying "No processes..." or
something, looks like an error.. have you experienced this?

    HI,
For your home testing you might need a latest technology to get a smooth and fast installation. i7 processor might be the ideal with memory at least 8GB. if you're planning to have more than 3 VMs running at the same time than you need 12-16GB memory at least.
From my experience installing on vm and allocated memory 2.5GB each VM the installation could take 15-30minutes

  • What is the recommenden access port QoS configuration for 8900/9900 video enabled phones

    Hi all,
we are currently starting to roll out some video enabled 9900 and 8900 phones in our network. In the past we did not use video and configured the access ports on our Catalyst 2960 switches with "auto qos voip ciscp-phone". This however creates a policy which does not include a class-map to correctly handle the AF41 video traffic coming from those phones. I have thougth about extending the autoqos policy with a AF41 class-map but am not sure if this is the right way to do it.
That's what I have in mind:
    class-map match-all AUTOQOS_VIDEO_DATA_CLASS
      match ip dscp af41
    class-map match-all AUTOQOS_VOIP_DATA_CLASS
      match ip dscp ef
    class-map match-all AUTOQOS_DEFAULT_CLASS
      match access-group name AUTOQOS-ACL-DEFAULT
    class-map match-all AUTOQOS_VOIP_SIGNAL_CLASS
      match ip dscp cs3
    policy-map AUTOQOS-SRND4-CISCOPHONE-POLICY
     class AUTOQOS_VOIP_DATA_CLASS
       set dscp ef
      police 128000 8000 exceed-action policed-dscp-transmit
     class AUTOQOS_VIDEO_DATA_CLASS
       set dscp af41
      police 1500000 8000 exceed-action policed-dscp-transmit
     class AUTOQOS_VOIP_SIGNAL_CLASS
       set dscp cs3
      police 32000 8000 exceed-action policed-dscp-transmit
     class AUTOQOS_DEFAULT_CLASS
       set dscp default
      police 10000000 8000 exceed-action policed-dscp-transmit
How do you guys do it ? Is there some documentation for this ?
Thank you for your kind help

    Hi
You have to keep this table on your mind. Your configuration is fine if your configuration for SD video , but if for HD video , it is not ok you have to change video bandwidth at least 5M.
    Traffic Type
    Layer 2 CoS
    Layer 3 IP Precedence
    Layer 3 DSCP
    Voice RTP1
    5
    5
    EF
    Voice control
    3
    3
    AF31
    Video conference
    4
    4
    AF41
    Streaming video (IP/TV)
    1
    1
    AF13
    Data
    0-2
    0-2
    0-AF23
*Interactive Video "AF41"- Sensitive but can tolerate packet loss of about 1% and latency almost same as voice.
*Streaming Video "AF13" - Less sensitive - can tolerate about 4-5% packet loss and latency of about 4-5 seconds.
*HD video conference will require between 5M to 16M , but SD video conference will use 384K to 1 M
Note:-Video QOS , if you will assume that your video conference will use around 384K , you have to add 20% because video conference include voice so the total bandwidth 460K.
    Kindly check the below link

  • Hardware Configurations for Oracle 10g AS

    Hi,
I'm looking for Hardware Configurations on various platforms which Oracle AS 10g supports. Basically i'm looking for details for these on each supported platforms.
    No. Of CPUs
    CPU Speed
    RAM
    Disk Space
I would appreciate if someone point me some document on this.
    Thanks,

Those parameters are more of a function of intended use (ie the application and which components of AS involved). There are absolute minimum values to enable installation (not use) of the software in each platforms Install Guide.

  • Your Hardware configuration for RAC.

    Hi,
What would be the best hardware solution for your regarding RAC? or put in another way, what hardware configuraton you are using for your RAC?
    regards,

    hi
As good as you could provide for your RAC. RAC could be built on simple
P IV machines having a shared storage and two NICs with 100Mb speed connected via low speed network.
If i would be using a 2 node RAC, i would use two 64-bit server class machines with 4G RAM each, high speed shared storage, and Nodes connected through GB speed NICs with fiber optics.
It would really give me a lot of satisfaction.

  • Recommended Hardware Configurations for EP5.0 SP6

    Hi all,
What is the Recommended RAM and HARDDISC sizes for EP 5.0 SP6 for DEV, QTY and PROD servers.
    Help can be appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Sudhir

    Hi Sudhir,
It is impossible to say with out knowing what you are going to be doing with the portal.  SAP doesn't recommend specific sizes.  I believe you will find the minimums in the installation guid or the technical infrastructure guide.
Personally I have a NW portal running on a windows laptop with two Gb of memory and a 40 gig drive.  Depending on the number of users, you could possibly run a portal on a windows box with two Gb of RAM.  For an It organization a dual processor 4Gb of Ram and 40 Gb drive sould work for a Development or Sandbox system unless you are expecting to be doing a lot of development on it.
As far as sizing a QA and production system, that should be left to you working with your hardware provider.  they will want to know things like how many users will there be on the system.  # of concurrent, locations.
Hopefully this give you a little something to start with.

  • Better hardware configuration for using JDeveloper

    Hi,
What is the better configuration for using such since every time I felt absolutely slow when using it?
    Thks & Rgds,
    HuaMin

    HuaMin,
Kind of hard to say what's better, since you don't tell us what you currently have. However, I find that RAM is your friend when running JDeveloper. I've run JDeveloper 10.1.3.x on various laptops (both single and dual core) with 2GB of RAM and performance is quite good. The CPU speeds that I've used are generally in the 2GHz range. My current setup is a dual core 2 GHZ with 2 GB of RAM and I'm quite happy

  • What is the criteria for a local network with RDS Gateway 2012?

I have a hard time finding out what the criteria are how RDS 2012 detemines that the network the client is on is a local network or an external one.  I have one subnet within our network that isn't recognised as a local network and all RDS traffic is
passed to the gateway server. This is something we don't want for internal addresses. Can anyone enlighten me how RDS determines whether you are on an internal or external network?
    Thanks!
    Leo

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
As per my research I can say that RDS when getting any connection it looks for DNS to verify as all the usage for internal\external entries is made under DNS for his environment through RD Gateway.
The RD Gateway role service provides secure access by establishing an SSL tunnel from the client to the RD Gateway. The RD Gateway acts as the middleman. It passes traffic to and from the client over port 443, and to and from the internal resource over port
3389. Any communication between the RD Gateway and the external client is also encrypted. The RD Gateway uses authorization policies to determine who can use the service and the specific resources to which they’re allowed access. You can configure different
permission sets for people depending on whether they’re connecting from within or outside the network.
You can get more details from beneath link.
How To Work with RD Gateway in Windows Server 2012

  • Hardware Configuration for Oracle DB on DELL Server

We are currently running Oracle 8.0.5 on Windows 2000 Advanced Server. This is a DELL PowerEdge 6600 server with 8 73GB Ultra SCSI Hard Drives. We will be upgrading to Oracle 9i in the future. Question: What would be the recommended Hardware RAID Configuration? We've heard that RAID 10 would be a good configuration to implement. What would be the best way for us to configure our server? We would like a high fault tolerance, good performance system. Our database isn't very large in size (10GB) but, we do require 24 x 7 availability. By the way, switching to a different operating system is not an option for us.

You've probably read this already; but, the documentation has some minimums: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26996_01/e18548/CHDJCIFD.html
The management server doesn't require anything special.
