What is SSO , SSL, and other terms?

Hi,
I always hear the terms SSO, SSL and some other terms, but I am not aware of the exact meaning of them.
Can anyone focus some light on this ?

What's the difference between END-TO-END SSL and other SSL?

Hi,
SSL end-to-end means that the web dispatcher is just forwarding the
HTTPS requests to the backend system without unpacking / decrypting the data.
This can be configured by icm/server_port_<XX> = ...,PROT=ROUTER,..
To be able to configure the ROUTER protocol on the web dispatcher you also
must have configured HTTPS / SSL on the relevant backend system.
Configuring SSL "only" means that the web dispatcher is listening to HTTPS and you can decide with the relevant parameters, if the communication to the backend is HTTP or if it is again reencrypted using HTTPS.
This would end up in using the parameter icm/server_port_<xx> = ...,PROT=HTTPS,....

You are right. WLAN card in your notebook is Intel (Golan) Intel 3945ABG and the driver can be downloaded from http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/?page=downloads
As I can see there is version 12.2.0.11.3 available for download.
Download driver for Vista and with exe files extract it to some folder. Later look check this folder and go into folder Vista32Drv.
Drivers are there and install them manually with WLAN properties > install new driver.
Does this method works?
What so say about BT? The latest version is the newest and you can install it on your Satellite notebook.
What you want to do with BIOS settings exactly? some certain hardware components can be also disabled in device manager.

What about web standards and other browsers?

I am not using MS IE (for good reasons) and everytime i stumple upon statements like

I get really mad.
It just recently happened when I wanted to have a look at the SAP TechEd Featured Lecture of the Week that a colleague notified me of.
I know that there is a certain Microsoft affinity at SAP but c'mon guys:
This is the internet and it's the 21st century!
Why not obey web standards or at least use something platform independent?
No offence, but this is really disappointing!
I (and certainly many others too) would really appreciate web standards compliance on sap.com.

What are the advantages of end to end ssl vs. server term'd ssl

what would be the advantage of having the ACE terminate ssl and than initating an ssl connection to the backend server
instead of just having the server terminate the ssl connection?
we are currently discussing this..and even from a resource perspective...the server would seem to be using
the same amount of resources

The real advantage with end to end SSL is that the ACE can make layer 7 decisions but still keep the traffic encrypted from client to server. This would be the case if you needed to use cookies as the sticky method or make a load balance decision on URL or host header. Most of the time it is financial or government institutions that use this feature to keep the data secure even on the inside of the network.
This is much more resource intensive on the ACE. You are correct about the performance on the server. From the server perspective it would be no different if the ACE just load balanced SSL, or terminated it first then encrypted it going back to the server.

What protections against side-jacking and other threats on open networks?

I'm sure many of us find open "free" networks while traveling - in some airport lounges, in coffee shops, bookstores, etc.
When connectivity is available, it seems tempting to sign into Facebook, or Twitter to update status or see what is going on. But last year, I read a bit about firesheep and other similar applications that could be used to sniff data and allow another person to potentailly capture the login / passwords of those around them.
How prevalent is this danger and what actions can we take to protect ourselves other than just not using open networks?

This actually talks about how cookies can be captured OTA (Over the Air). The only true way is to use an https:// connection when going through any Social Networking site i.e: Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc. etc. since data is streamed or transferred through a TLS/SSL (Transport Layer Security/Secure Socket Layer). Though this will not be enough I seek also a Public Connection with a higher level of Wi-Fi security or authentication using WPA2 with an AES encryption standard.
Also, we need to take note of that we also need to make sure that when on a Public Network that we disable any File and Printer Sharing and Network Discovery. In Windows 7, the Network Location Awareness (NLA) feature found in the Network and Sharing Center does this automatically on Public Networks if the settings were left on default.
In most browsers right now, there's an option to disallow websites to track your location. All the better will be to use InPrivate browsing when in IE, Incognito when in Google Chrome or Private Browsing in Firefox, these modes will not keep any session cookies without you worrying to delete them manually once you close the browser.

I want to force SSL on some pages and NO SSL on other pages

I have looked at webflow and it is not obviously clear to me how to:
1. Enforce NON SSL on some pages ... (like search page, catalog, product list pages ) to improve performance.
2. Force SSL on other pages .... (like account edit page, beyond the obvious checkout pages)
One way I was thinking off was to use a URL rewrite intercept to do that.
The webflow seems to be a mechanism to build page flows enforcing SSL on the next page called. But what if the user is the person directly clicking on a link that should be SSL'ed say Account Update.
Currently ... we are ssl'ing the whole site.

I have it within an ascx control which appears on each page. Alternatively, within the common.master.master codebehind page load event. I think the problem with the webflow is that you need to know which page a user is coming from to be able to take them into (and then out of) secure mode. This code ensures that certain pages are secure and others are not.
Also, Fname in the above example is the name of the page that is being requested:

First, I would avoid listening to NBC as a source for tech news. They've proven that they are not a responsible source for that kind of thing. See:

Second, the SSL issue is solved by upgrading to iOS 7.0.6, as Allan points out. Plug in your phone, open the Settings app and go to General, then Software Update. Download and install the update from there. You can also download it on your computer, in iTunes, and install through sync, but that download will be larger, since it's not specific to your device.
Finally, note that you still cannot trust e-mail... anything you put in an e-mail might as well be put on a postcard. SSL encryption only protects the transmission of username and password, when it comes to e-mail... the contents of the messages sent and received are not encrypted, and can be read (or even modified) by anyone between you and the sender/recipient. The only way to protect your e-mail is through some kind of signing and encryption, such as S/MIME.

ACE Appliance SSL Offload: IE 7 / and other browser issues

I'm using a pait of ACE's to offload SSL from our web sites. I'm using the server reuse function on the ACE, I have the SSL certifiates working, in that you can connect to the site using SSL and the certs check out, etc..
The problem is: Some of our customers are experiencing issues particularly in IE7, where they will get partial page loads. I have reproduced it, and what I see is the page never seems to finish loading, When I sniff the outside stream I see resets coming back from the server side (ie the ACE.). Anyone have any thoughts? Or things to look at?

further information: I turned off server reuse and the problem diminished. there are still some long pauses in page updates but that could be server wait times. So anyone have any idea how I can tune server-reuse? or check what might be causing this issue.

App Store, Pages 5.0, Evernote, and other Apps will not fully function after installing Mavericks. What is the issue and how can this be solved?

Hello all, I could use some serious help on some major issues I have been having after installing Mavericks on my system (specs stated below). Never has a mac felt ever so rebelious and broken before in my lifelong period of using these systems. Anyway, after installing system 10.9, I had opened the mac App Store upon seeing that applications such as my iWork suite all had free updates. However, when I would attempt to navigate to the updates window, it would not respond to my various attempts. I then tried to get there by the system's menu bar and to my dismay, nothing would work when I clicked on it, not even the apple logo menu. I later quit the application using Command-Q and opened up the App Store by the apple menu option 'Software Update...' instead. Though it looked promising since the updates window did open, all update buttons or even '...more' info buttons were unresponsive. These same problems persisted even after restarting my computer. I had also attempted to see if repairing definitions would help by booting from the recovery start-disk and using disk utility but the repairs it carried out apparently had nothing to do with my issue. Finally, I was able to update to the new iWorks suite (which interestingly did not replace the iWorks '09 suite) by following the notification that asked about allowing automatic updates which I did.
Once trying to use Pages 5.0, I soon noticed that all I could do was merely type in a new document and change various options via key commands. Neither the inspector or top bar menus would respond to any place I click. Similarly, Evernote only starts up on the last used note and merely allows me to scroll through it. The top bar menus, the note select pane, and even clicking inside the note to input text are all not functioning and uninfluenced by any mouse clicks.
I have noticed other apps that will not respond to any sort of input, but I still have not explored all applications to know what the issues of each may be. However there are some applications that work such as Safari, Google Chrome, dolphin, iWork '09 including Pages '09, and others.
I do hope that I can avoid rolling back my system, but in the meantime, it has been quite the obticle course to use my computer for all of my school purposes.

I also forgot to note that this problem also persists with the new iBooks application. I cannot get past the 'Get Started' screen or access the iBooks Store. Again, all top bar menus are unresponsive.
