The IT scenario Authentication and Single Sign-On describes an example for integrating different systems into a single sign-on (SSO) environment. Single sign-on not only reduces complexity for end users, saving them valuable time, but also reduces administration effort for resetting passwords, thereby contributing to TCO reduction.
When implementing this scenario, users are initially authenticated in the SAP NetWeaver Portal using information that is stored in an external LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) directory. After being authenticated, they are issued a logon ticket from the portal that they can use to access the various systems (SAP or non-SAP) in the backend.

OBIEE SSO with On Demand

Hello,
Has anyone attempted to integrate Oracle CRM On Demand with OBIEE before? I know CRM On Demand has a built in Analytics function, but we are looking at analyzing a large volume of sales data, and it would not be feasible (or possible?) to load that data into CRM On Demand. I want to embed OBIEE reports/dashboards within CRM On Demand using web applets.
1) Is there a way to create action links between OBIEE and CRM on Demand?
2) What about SSO between the two systems? I can easily pass the username to OBIEE via the URL if I'm using a web applet, but what about the password? I know I can bypass the password by using the DB username/password instead of :USER and :PASSWORD in the connection pool, but since this will be exposed to the internet, that's not such a good idea.

Problem with SAP log-in using VBA with Excel Bexanalyzer add-in

I am trying to login in to SAP using VBA code but the code fails as indicated below .

Here's what I'm trying to achieve: on demand I'd like to execute VBA code that will use Bexanalyzer.xla functions to log in and then refresh a query that exists in the Excel workbook. Ultimately I'll want to apply parameters / variables to the query when it is refreshed. I may then automatically execute VBA code to manipulate the resulting data in the workbook. Basically I want to be able to do all of this without any user input.

With respect to the SAP Business One Integration for SAP NetWeaver product ... this technology is not providing a portal in which to access SAP Business One from a web interface. The SAP Business One Integration for SAP NetWeaver is a technology that seamlessly integrates SAP Business One with mySAP with respect to the integration of transactions and master data flow between the two systems from a headquarters/subsidiary(s) standpoint.

User Management for e-Commerce ERP

Hello Experts,
I am working on e-Commerce ECC6.0 version.
Had some questions in the area of user management:
A)
The scenario is that the e-commerce application needs to be integrated to Poral, now my doubt is which userType option is the best to be chosen for such cases.
Is it mandatory to use user type "ERP e-Commerce logon via UME"?
I have not worked with UME before and hence if you can also share some links / pointers in that area?
what other SSO logon options are available?
B) In case there is no portal and e-Commerce is working as standalone application:
There is already a ECC6.0 system in place where until now customers have been maintained. The client has been using a custom Online Store application on which login was via the customer id. Now they want to use e-Commerce for ERP, but still want the logon to be via the customer id only. In such case the only option that I can think of is via "R3_SU05Customer_LoginCustomerNo" userType. But since su05 type is not recommended now, I was wondering if there could be some other option as well? Can you guide..

UME makes the user management simple and central to the Security / System group.
have not worked with UME before and hence if you can also share some links / pointers in that area?

I’m working on an events management application. The purpose of this application is to handle multipurpose events organized by my organization. Not sure what is the best practice to handle the following
1-     On-line registration will be allowed for selected organization, therefore we would like to create user id and password for each organization and send it to them by e-mail an organization could register one or more of their employees I want them to be able to add or update their information
2-     I want to allow the users to be able to upload personal photo and a copy of their passport for visa purposes.
3-     I want to notify them by e-mail (automatically) when they successfully register.
4-     Is it a better practice to write to live data or to a separate table and then update my database.
I’m looking for experts opinion in the above questions.

1 – The major event is an annual meeting of 5 Arab financial organization, people invited for this event are governors and head of departments of participating countries the number usually between 400 – 500 participants. Currently we have a form which we send to organizations 2 months before meetings, received information is re-entered in an access database.
2- Not sure what is SSO products, OID, AD .
3- I would like to learn more about current mail package, I’m not gonna use any attachments for this time
4- Regarding live data my question was is it better to create a separate database where the registration information will be written or write on the production database directly.

Weblogic SSO with AD - My Try - What's wrong?

I'm trying to setup Weblogic to Authenticate using AD and have SSO with a Windows workstation(joined to the domain).
I just setup an Active Directory(Win2K3), a Windows XP(SP2) and a Linux System(CentOS5) with Weblogic 10.3.
I'm wondering what is wrong with my configuration. I can only logon on Adminstration Console using weblogics local users, and even with entering username(those which created on AD) and password AD Authentication does not work.
Anyone has simliar experiance or any clue?

Here is the setup:
The domain is: example.com and machines are: dc.example.com (AD), winclient.example.com (Windows XP joined to the example.com domain) and weblogic.example.com (CentOS with Weblogic 10.3 installed)
The hosts file on all three machines are filled with their FQDN, Machine Name and corresponding IP addresses. They all have ping working successfully between each two of them. Firewalls are checked to be off.

What kind of SSO shall I use ?

We would like to use SSO while logging on through SAPGUI, on SAP systems. The systems are running on both Unix and Windows family. It is important that, they are not attached into the domain. We are using Active Directory on Windows 2003 as domain controller. First question is, can I use SSO between cross domain Unix and Windows SAP servers. And the second question is what SSO shall I use?

For this you need to take advantage of the SNC interface provided in SAP GUI and on most versions of SAP app server (later than 3.1I). The SNC interface requires a compatable GSS-API library, which you can obtain from a third part vendor. There is a library available from SAP for this, but it only works if you are using SAP on Windows. Since you have SAP on both Windows and UNIX you will need a product which supports this range of operating systems. What does OBIEE sign on look like with SSO?

Dumb question, we may be using SSO with OBIEE in the near future. When that is turned on, and a user goes to the OBIEE URL - does it just automatically log in without showing the sign on page (this is what I'm assuming)?

Hi Scott,
If you have a valid session then it would log you in. But if there is no valid session then it depends on OBI Version. If you are using OBI 10g it would show not logged in page. If you are using a OBI 11g it would show the default login page.

What is the general cost for NW SSO 2.0 solutions?

Besides "Account Manager on SAP side" mentioned in OSS Note 1876552 could somebody be able to share some experiences/ideas what the general cost is about each NW SSO 2.0 solution? As different solution need different components, right? So I would understand how to license each solution? Is it number of user based or component based or other approaches to calculate?

HELP! SSO in V1 works in V2 SSO to the same site fails - whats happening?

I am trying to perform SSO to a site. In V1 it works fine, in V2 it fails.

Before you can answer that question, you have to answer the question "what is the zip format"? It is a trick quesetion. There has never been such a thing. Zip was invented by the proverbial "some dude" (Phil Katz) who was a good at coding. The Zip format was never standardized so there is really no such thing as a zip file. There are many zip variants that use different forms of encryption.
The original zip encryption was a homemade algorithm written by Roger Shalfly. He has a PhD in math but this was an early attempt before the field was mature and people starting giving names to individual algorithms. 1,SSO using LOGON tickets.
2,SSO Using UIDPW
what is the third type and need of the third type.

             - Without user mapping
             - With user mapping
     (ii) SSO with User ID and Password
2) Outside SAP Portal Framework
    - X.509 digital certificates
    - Enterprise Access Management (EAM) Products
    - Windows Integrated Authentication (NTLM)
