What is supposed to happen with Junk Emails

Hi, i have just switched from Windows (and i am NEVER GOING BACK), in MS Outlook in Windows, when stuff is marked as Spam/Junk that address is remembered and sent to the Junk Folder when it is received again.
Using the Mac program "MAIL" this doesn't seem to happen, if i mark an email address as junk, it makes no difference when i receive mail from that address again, i still have to mark it as Junk again and again.
In Windows, junk mail could be sent to a Junk/Spam folder, it created a Black List and it tried to remember Junk addresses.

Filtering spam based on the sending address is wasted effort because the address is phony and changes constantly. Mail's junk filter works by doing a sophisticated analysis of the text of the message. Training the filter improves its ability to recognize spam from its contents. The address has nothing to do with it.

What is SUPPOSED to happen to accepted invitations

I sent some invitations from iCal and got an email from one person accepting that invitation. What is supposed to happen to that? Am I supposed to be able to view the invitation in iCal and see that the person has accepted the invitation? That didn't happen ... or at least I can't see anything in iCal to that effect. I do get the email telling me that they have accepted the invitation. I looked at the notifications window but there is nothing there.

You have asked a super question. I, too, have no idea what receiving an iCal evite confirmation is supposed to do. I look to the event, and see that the invited person still has a question mark next to their name. Also, the evite doesn't get sent automatically, I have to open the appointment manually, and then click on the send button. iCal is an interesting program in that it doesn't do what one would expect the program to do automatically... automatically.

What is supposed to happen when a tethered Blackberry Tour receives an incoming call?

I have a blackberry tour on an enterprise system. Can anyone tell me what is supposed to happen when tethered and an incoming call comes in to the phone? My company will soon be getting rid of our aircards, and activating the tethering feature on the blackberrys. We use VPN to connect to the intranet. Also, can I make an outgoing phone call without disconnecting from the internet?

When you are using the tethering feature on your Blackberry device, the in coming call could interfere with your data connection. Also, when you make an outbound call, it would disconnect from your internet tethering feature. This is because the device would not be able to make and receive calls as its connected to the internet.

What's supposed to happen to SharePoint when the IIS blob cache is full?

Can someone possibly point me at a description of what's supposed to happen to SharePoint if the IIS blob cache directory fills up?
I've seen postings from MS saying that you need to keep the directory 20% bigger than the amount of files you might end up storing in there, but that's clearly not the whole answer.
I ask because we've had a problem today on SP2010 with files disappearing from people's sites as soon as they are uploaded, or being replaced with files of 0 bytes. It seems to be caused by the blob cache directory being full, and SharePoint not making
any attempt to free up space in it.

For me, on Mac, the second (or more) time I open an image from Bridge or from Photoshop's Recent menu, it opens the image in ACR (7.2) a second time and appends a -2 to the file name once opened in Photoshop. Each time the image is opened up again, it adds an appended -x number. I'm pretty sure this is the expected behavior...

OK. I have had a few of those in the past.
I don't know what will happen. How do you know that you overdraw on the card? Did you get a receipt from Apple via email? I'm not sure how the transaction can go through without the funds being on the card, but I have no clue as to how Apple processes those types of payments.
I realize that you are trying to do the right thing, so short of contacting Apple - I don't know what else to tell you.

To get a new iCloud address you would have to create a new iCloud account and migrate your iCloud data to the new account. If you want to do this, go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account, and when prompted about what to do with the iCloud data choose Keep on [My iDevice]. Then set up a new iCloud account with a new ID, turn you iCloud data syncing back to On, and when prompted choose Merge to upload your data to the new account. When you turn Mail to On you will get a new @icloud email address (@mac and @me addresses are no longer available). Once your data is in the new account, you can just delete the old account from your other devices without saving the data on the device, then sign into the new one and the migrated data in the new account will be synced back to them.
If you need to, you can change your iTunes ID to this new email address. This guide explains how to change an Apple ID name, but you can follow this and edit the primary email address instead to change it: http://support.apple.com/kb/HE40.

Content of screen moves to right of screen and truncates, scroll bar missing. Full screen restores display but hides all other functionality. Does not happen with IE, email or Office Suite

FF 5 screen display shifted to the right, leaving left side of screen blank. The full screen option restores the display to normal but the menu bars are no longer visible. Exiting full screen moves the screen to the right another quarter, leaving 3/4 of the screen to the left blank. This only happens with the Firefox browser. Explorer, email and all other applications (Office, i.e.) display correctly.

Since from 15 days I am working on one Dashboard with BEX query, now I have completed that I am able to run that till yesterday. But today my SAP USER ID expired(every 15 days it expires). I have updated same password in all places(CMC OLAP, UNV,IDT) and tried to open the same XLF (which was running fine till yesterday ) after opening that if I tried to edit query or tried to add query or clicked on preview....all ending with locking of my SAP USER ID(SBOP) ..............Don't know what the damn thing happening please seng if you know any solution.
Experts need help to solve this issue urgently .........:)

We have faced same scenario,this is happening due to SAP User ID password change.
Stop all the BO work and change the password of SAP everywhere used.Any single point will lock it again.

Multifolio app with iTunes Subscription - What is supposed to happen

OK so I have built an iOS multi folio app with iTunes Subscription and downloaded the developer app for testing.
I load and launch the app on my iPad and am presented with:
1. the subscription banner
2. The latest folio with two buttons (Free) and (Subscribe)
3. All other folios in a grid below with a (Free) button.
When I tap either the banner or the (Subscribe) button I see the Purchasing Subscription title appear for a few seconds and then the title reverts to the name of the viewer app.
The Subscribe banner and button are still there. Is that the behaviour I should be expecting? If not what should I expect to happen?

When testing an iOS app for subscriptions, your should:
- Log out of the App store
- Make sure you are creating a test user in iTunes Connect to be able to test in the SandBox environment (with ipa)
- Open your App and tap the subscription, it will ask you if you want to subscribe and also will ask that you log in with an existing Apple ID (that should be your test account)
- If all is set up properly and working, you will get a confirmation and the banner should go away
As I mentioned, make sure you are referencing the product ID of the subscription itself.

What just happened with my email settings?

Whenever I have composed an email in the past, I would always be able to change the font size to make the print larger. The options for that would be right there on the screen.
Now it's not there anymore. Is there a way I can pull it back up again and if so, how do I do it?
I am only able to change the default settings which doesn't seem to do anything for the font size.

Without knowing your browser and/or OS I would guess if you run Internet explorer it could be the recent update to version 11, try running this site in compatibility mode

Setting up new user home dir -- what is *supposed* to happen"

Folks:
Could someone tell me what Workgroup Mgr is supposed to do when you tell it to set up new home dir?
Right now it creates the dir, but sets the perms to drwxr-xr-x, owner root, and it's empty.
This means the new user can't do anything with the dir, and I'm fairly certain Wkg Mgr is supposed to have put some files in there?
Any clues appreciated,

I've been having some trouble with creating home directories on my server, and others are no doubt more expert in this field than I am, but what should be created are the Documents, Movies, Music, Pictures, Public, and Sites directories that you expect to see. If you create those (or whatever subset you want) and set the ownership of the directory to the correct user, Library and Desktop will be automatically created when they log in.
In my case, for a while now "Create Home Now" hasn't been working and the home directory is not automatically created when the user logs in. If I set it up manually everything works out, but I'd like to know why this is happening. I can't figure out what's wrong with the share point if that's the problem.

What is supposed to happen if the font for a control on the startup form does not exist on the system?

Say you put a button on a form and dont change the font ie ms san serif, then the app is installed on a system that does not have the font ms san serif installed. Is it supposed to throw an error when the form initializes? Since this happens before any user
code the error can go untrapped in the start up form and crashes to the system.
I discovered it does this if you specify the font in the designer to be "Arial Narrow" and it is not installed. But whats funny is the error is not font does not exist, it is "Arial Narrow" does not support style Regular. Even though
I set the font in the IDE for the control. How can I be setting it with the IDE to something that does not exist for the font I set (Arial Narrow is on the IDE system)?
I have always thought that vb would just use a different font if the control font did not exist without an error. In my case it was a secondary form so the error was trapped. But, I don't see how to trap the error if it is the startup form.

I don't suppose you're being picky specifically although I think I got a headache attempting to do the below.
I do think this is a bug though which you should probably report.
However I tried this and it worked fine. Except I had to alter the Form1.Designer.vb file to do this. I tested this. I didn't test without this to see if I would get the exception you received.
I downloaded a Font called Kingsthings Christmas from the second link in my post for links to download fonts. Added that to my systems Fonts and tested the code. Removed that from my systems fonts and tested the code. It worked in both instances.
I suspect that the Font in the Form1.Designer.VB file for the New Font for the TabControl and TreeView would work with the default system font set to use 21.75! and font style regular but if the default system font didn't support both of those then an issue
could occur obviously. So if somebody used Control Panel to set the default system font to something that doesn't support those two things then you will need to alter the code to detect what the default system font can use for those two settings
possibly.

After re-install, strange things are happening with my emails

I had a crash during an optimization adventure with TechTool Pro when I was running 10.4.10. Since I had problems with this version (another issue), I did an archive and install for 10.4.8, with a subsequent upgrade to 10.4.9, and stopped there. So when I moved the mailboxes from the previous system folders to the active ones, my emails "disappeared". The mailbox windows are completely empty. In one mailbox, I "lost" nearly 2000 messages that I needed to archive. On my iMac, I have about 60% of those emails saved and backed up.
I put quotes around "lost" and "disappeared" because I can open the files with TextEdit. They're complete and intact. But I can't open them up within Mail.
I rebuilt the mailboxes, with no success.
So what can I do to get Mail to recognize these invisible email files? Can anyone suggest a way to get Mail to recognize these files?

Rather than tinkering with the contents of ~/Library/Mail/, you should have either restored the whole ~/Library/Mail folder as if it was a monolithic entity, or import the mailboxes by means of File > Import Mailboxes.
That said, if Mail doesn’t recognize the messages in those mailboxes even after rebuilding them, chances are that importing them by normal means wouldn’t have worked either. In that case, you may try using emlx to mbox Converter or Emailchemy to convert the *.emlx files to standard mbox format, then import that in Mail as Other.

What in the world happened with X-Fi softwa

What happened to all the EAX effects that were in Audigy 2? The EAX effects are mostly "HALL" type effects!!! What happened to those cool EAX sounds like "bathroom", "Small Room", "Cave" etc? What did creative do with software? Was the entire Audigy 2 software development team fired or something?
What happened to CMSS & CMSS 2 that I had in Audigy 2? Bass & Treble on a pebble sized knob is not a good idea. I much perfer using sliders.
What happened to Front Center volume and Subwoofer volume?
What happened to all the basics? You guys removed all the essentials!
Right now, I'm using X-Fi mode changer cause the orginal software is lacking so many options. Why can't I set bass and treble in GAME MODE creative? Did you guys get lazy or did you feel it wasn't necessary? We pay premium prices for your hardware and we expect the best. You guys give consumers all these flashy advertising and statements that X-Fi is "THE" sound card to get and when we do upgrade most of us are not suprised but disappointed. Just look at all the X-Fi problem threads on this board.
Listening to music with headphones sounds great, much improvement over Audigy 2 (all effects are off or default), but once I launch a game everything sounds so muffled.

don't take your childish grief out on me. You're angry that's fine, I was only trying to help you use your software, your beef is with Creative, not me.
Weather I owned an Audigy or not doesn't make my points any less valid. I was asking you what CMSS/2 where in the Audigy, you didn't even have the decency to explain. Somebody else did and it looks like they are still in the X-Fi just named differently.
No idea how your PC is set-up but I don't have to go into control panel to set bass/treble, I just double click the volume icon and do it in there. Unless the Audigy gave you some kind of acti've desktop with these functions permanently on it you're going to have to do some kind of interaction with something to set these settings, so where's the problem?
OK, no % in the windows sliders but the creative s/w does still show the % and I can't see what the big deal is if it's a slider or a knob, you still use the mouse to set it.
OK, you didn't understand about THX, again not my problem, I was trying to help. Maybe you should read up on what you have just payed money for instead of taking it out on people.
Creative, the X-Fi and it's drivers are far from perfect but I think you are making a mountain out of the wrong mole hill. There really isn't that much, if any, reduced functionality. Things have just been renamed, moved, re imaged. And if you have a problem with that, god help you when you upgrade to Vista!

What Is Supposed to Happen After Restart 15 Mins into Installation?

OK, so I determined that "After the first 15 minutes, or so, it will reboot, and then continue the installation."
But that doesn't happen. My MacBook reboots, but there is no evidence that the installation is continuing.
What should I be seeing after this 15-minute-into-the-installation reboot? I see nothing, and my "About this Mac" tells me I still have Mac OS 10.5.8.
I thought the issue might be something to do with my external keyboard, so I detached that; in fact detached all external devices except an external mouse (because I have a trackpad issue). Same result. MacBook restarts 15 minutes into install with no evidence of further installation of Snow Leopard.
Could the failure to install have anything to do with my trackpad issue?
Someone in this forum advised "Hopefully you didn't interrupt it at a critical moment." I don't know what I would be interrupting since no installation seems to be taking place after the 15-mins-in restart.
Anyone know a trick, workaround, or troubleshooting tip for the failure to install I'm experiencing?

Boot up from the DVD and run Disk Utility from the Utilities option, Katharine.
Select "Repair Disk" , let it do its job (its is not a bad idea to run it again if it fixes anything the first time, until you get a completely clean run)
Once that is done, "repair permissions" reboot and try the installation again.
Make sure you have plenty of free space on the HD before the installation, too. When doing an OS installation a good rule of thumb is to make sure you have 25% of your HD free. If not, get a bigger disk, or free up some room. You are going too need it pretty soon anyway if you don't!
