What is Temp File etilqs xKTXRBvWnu6?

Every time I open my Firefox browser Win Patrol reports a hidden file. I'm using XP Pro with SP2 and they are always in C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp. These files always have etilqs as the prefix with the last group of numbers and letters changing at the next time I open Firefox. This is beyond inconvenient, it is more annoying almost harassment, having to respond to WinPatrol's report. There is no way to ignore it in Win Patrol's settings so I have to either uninstall Win Patrol or Firefox. Do you know what these hidden temp files are and how I can stop them from being a constant nuisance every time I try to use Firefox? Thank you for any help you can give me.

WinPatrol is nagging you about those because you enabled the Monitor Hidden Files option, which isn't recommended.
* http://www.winpatrol.com/us_hidden.html
For instance, you may see many files that start as '''etilqs_''' followed by random names. These are database files used by the public domain database called SQLite. Both Chrome and FireFox use SQLite to store data including cookies. Another common hidden legitimate file will start with '''api-ms-win-''' or '''ext-ms-win'''.

  • Whats the best program to clean temp files on a mac?

My macpro is running slow, I assume its all the temp files, since I've never done a sweep.  Anyone recommend a specific app or program?

Corrupt directory or disk drive, bad sectors, too many background apps, not enough memory, too old for what you want to run, lack of SSD boot drive....
And 10GB of free space is old, not a reason - a disk drive that is even 20% free can be highly fragmented free space and other issues.
    Clone your drive.
    Repair it.
Move all the user and media files off the boot drive to another "data' drive.
You posted in Mac Pro - not laptop - what model? what OS? what hardware.

  • \iPod_Control\iTunes\Temp file corrupted -- what now?

I'm using my new iPod with iTunes 7.0.2.16 on Windows XP.
For the first few days I used this iPod, it synchronized just fine when I connected it to my PC via the USB cable.
However, yesterday I got an error message at the end of the synch. It read:
    Windows -- No Disk
There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive E:
Then, after I pressed Continue, I'd get what appeared to be an iTunes error, stating that the iPod "cannnot be updated. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."
Finally, today, after getting that iTunes message, a different warning box popped up in the lower right corner of my screeen. It read:
    iTunes.exe -- Corrupt File
The file or directory \iPod_Control\iTunes\Temp file is corrupted and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility.
Now, from what I can gather, the chkdsk utility is a command line Windows utility that I might not even have on my PC, and don't really want to mess with.
Does anyone know how I might have gotten into this mess, or might possibly get out of it, without messing with the innards of Windows?
Are the three error messages, described above, somehow related?
Would downloading the latest version of Itunes and installing it be a solution?
    iPod   Windows XP   Windows
    iPod     Windows

Running chkdsk is not "messing with Window's innards." It's just a command line utility that checks and can correct directory issues on a drive.
Click on Start and go to Run (this is with your iPod connected, of course.).
In the Run prompt type "cmd" without the quotes, and hit okay.
At the command prompt, type the following:
    chkdsk E: /r
and then hit enter. The computer will scan the iPod disk and fix any directory mistakes it can. When that is finished, eject the iPod and disconnect it, then reopen iTunes and reconnect it. Hopefully it should be working fine after that.

  • What effect does resizing temp file on primary have on standby database?

We have a weekly job on Primary that resizes the temp tablespace.
STANDBY_FILE_MANAGEMENT='AUTO' so am I correct in the assumption that the changes will be passed on and replicated on standby, even though they are temp files?
I am going live with DG in 2 weeks and keep thinking about questions such as this!
    Thanks

Writes to tempfiles aren't logged, so aren't shipped to the standby database. Writes to the tempfile on the primary causing the tempfile to extend won't cause the tempfile on the standby to extend. Tempfiles on the standby can be added/dropped/resized independently to the primary, even with STANDBY_FILE_MANAGEMENT='AUTO'.
If the standby is purely for disaster recovery and left permanently in managed recovery mode, then the standby won't even need a tempfile until after it has been activated in a failover/switchover situation.

  • Crystal Server 2013: How to troubleshoot "Can not create temp file---- Error code:-2147215357"

We have a Java7 web app, which generate PDF report by calling Crystal Server 2013 SP4.
The app is being deployed on many different servers. We sometimes got the error below when generating report:
com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.lib.ReportSDKException: Can not create temp file---- Error code:-2147215357 [CRSDK00000615] Error code name:internal

    at com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.application.PrintOutputController.export(PrintOutputController.java:113)
Problem is, this seems to be  a pretty generic exception. It could be caused by many different reasons.
e.g. network connection problem, wrong DB login, wrong folder path, lack of folder access right, etc.
Each time we could only guess what's wrong.
We are running into it again, and this time everything seems correctly configured so far.
We wonder if there are more info we can get to troubleshoot? For example, any log file of Crystal Server we should look into? Or does Crystal Server has debug mode which prints more details to tell us what goes wrong?

    Hi Henry,
I believe you are using RAS SDKs to export the reports to PDF.
Apply trace on RAS server and check what you find in RAS logs.
Check whether you can see timeout error is RAS logs. Usually if connection is lost and the RAS server no more have the session to write to the temp directory, we do see these errors.
Also, does the account that runs RAS have permissions to create a file in RAS's default temp directory? Are you getting any out of memory or out of disk space exceptions on App server or RAS, tracing RAS server is the way to move forward.

  • Lost document on my new MAC because I accidentally saved on another account that I had no permission to save to..now I don't know where the doc is but I just know its somewhere on the computer..maybe the temp files or something?!sos! please help me!!

I saved a document, while logged in as a Guest, to another user account [it was set up for some reason to save like that (I guess the person who used computer last did that) and I didn't check before "saving"] on accident. Of course I didn't have permission to save on the other user's account but I was in a rush and so I figured everything was fine but later I found that there was a message warning me saying it did not save because it couldn't save because I had no permission to save on that account and gave me the option to duplicate or cancel.. I wasn't paying attention so I can't remember which button I hit but clearly it wasn't "duplicate"
I took hours perfecting this document and now I can't find it.. anywhere!
Where do these types of things go when this happens.. I know it's somewhere on the computer but where?? SOS I need the doc and I'm hoping I can find it
I guess it's the same as someone who accidnetly hits "don't save"... question still stands.. please anyone help me!!!
I'm trying to use Disk Drill but I only found things from November and it seems like it only shows files that have been physically/manually deleted..and my TIME MACHINE WAS NOT SET UP..because we recently got this MAC computer and had no clue what it was
maybe its in some temp files somewhere..where do not saved documents go.. i know that it is probably writable but I know that is probably still exists
ANYONE WITH INFO PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!

    tis true
I know, I always do that but I was in a rush to get somewhere and I was relying on my thousand dollar Mac to do some kind of recovery or something. I know Microsoft always keeps temporary files (I think Mac does too, part of me asking here in this forum was for someone to tell me where I can find those files) and when you go to open Office Works then it gives you the option of opening the last recent documents, saved or not saved.
I usually copy paste into my emial just in case something goes wrong with the created document but I just didn't have the time to login and do all that My loss, you live and you learn, BUT still if ANYONE got any info on this, PLEASE DO CHIME IN *keeping the hope alive*

Question asked and answered several times.
If you didn't save, nothing is recoverable.
iWork apps don't create temp files so, as far as you on't save something, Time Machine can't archive it.

  • ITunes Library.itl file, and temp files after Time Machine retrieval

Hi - I messed up a playlist and got it back fine using Time Machine, but I'm left with temp files as well as iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Library.xml files on my desktop (that's where I placed the needed file for playlist re-import).  Can't delete them, can't move them....what do I do with them?!  Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Thanks, but with iTunes closed, I get this when I try to delete.

  • The 2 year old fix for changing temp files is no longer valid, I need to change the temp file location in the latest firefox.

In 3.6.3 I'm unable to find the parent cache to change where the temp files are located. I have an SSD drive, and I need to get the temp file off, and onto my platter drive. I have read the previous fix of about:config and changing the parent cache location, but it no longer seems to be there. I'm unable to locate anything relating to my SSD drive location in about:config.
    == User Agent ==
    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US) AppleWebKit/533.4 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/5.0.375.70 Safari/533.4

Unfortunately, it appears that what I wrote about not being able to find the location IN about:config of the cache to change it from my C: drive to a different location, was mildly misunderstood that I didn't know how to get into about:config.
The location of browser.cache.disk.parent_directory does not currently exist in 3.6.3. I'm assuming it's under a different location. Also using the simple string of "cache" lists several options, but none of them appear to be where firefox is currently dumping the temp files onto my C:
I merely need to know how to switch the temp file location from 1 drive, to another. Not downloads, the temp file.

  • CS6 temp file blunder - can you repeat this problem?

There is a serious root problem with Adobe's implemented permissionless-temp-file creation methods (pun intended.) The problem is that during startup, both Bridge and Photoshop CS6 try to make temp files on the root folder of the OS drive. Its affecting many peoples' installations by crashing them on application launch if not run by the super-administrator account on the computer. Adobe says to just run as admin to fix it, which does fix the start up crash. However, for me, it creates a gigantic problem: it breaks OS-to-PS and OS-to-Bridge drag and drop functionality completely!!! I literally was slowed to a crawl in my workflow having to import photos 1 at a time through the file-> open menu because I couldn't drag and drop various files from various locations on my computer. Not everything is clumped in 1 area neatly for Bridge to open everything, and I never realized just how much I used this function until this run as admin band-aid broke it. Eventually I fixed the CS temp location after 10-12 hours of hair pulling research and trial and error, and I finally have Photoshop CS6 working without admin permissions and everything is dandy with drag and drop, but only in PS. Bridge still cannot be run without administrator privileges and cannot have files dropped in or out of it to or from Explorer, and I am getting really frustrated here.
Its kind of disheartening that I have to work for 10 hours in order for me to be able to pay and fully utilize Adobe's software. Even 3 months after being made aware of this issue in other forums, and for how many people it is affecting, they still don't fix it when all they need to do is move the default location of the temp file to somewhere without a need for admin permissions! (I.E. documents folder?)
So does anyone else find their drag and drop ability gone once running Bridge/PS CS6 in admin mode? Am I the only one? Is there a way to move the default temp creation location of Bridge as well? I'm frustrated and I think Adobe seems to be taking this permissions issue way too lightly!

I'm running Windows 7x64 Professional. Temp is actually on my RAMdisk but using a folder junction to trick the programs into thinking its on the default temp folders of the C drive. Disabling UAC will fix it yes, but I don't want to disable UAC as I travel with this computer and security is something I prefer to have with me. Its only set to minimal UAC as well, but still its nice for spotting some things. And now, I really am going to look stupid here, but some reason now I can run Bridge without admin permissions without crashing, but now I can't preview or play .mp4 files which was a problem I had before!!! So, now I have a big WTF? expression on my face right now since I've been meticulously trying to get Bridge to work with drag and drop for over a week (and I guess now it magically does once someone actually pays attention to my posts lol) but now .mp4 functionality is poof without admin rights, no matter where the files reside. I think I give up on Bridge I'll just run it as admin but sheesh...
[[ giant pointless image removed by admin ]]
But, I still can post references... these all have a problem with 'MMXCore.8BX_unloaded' on startup (there are more elsewhere but it takes time to find them all):
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/bridge_cs6_release_crashes_on_startu p
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1001298
    http://www.sjogrens.nu/?p=106
Junction points are mentioned in the second post, and that's what I have done on my system (I did it with a program not command prompt, though)
Really though, after all I've read through and tried, changing the default location of where Photoshop and Bridge intitially put their TMP files to a permission-lax folder would really fix all the problems with this, even if it is caused by changing the default temp area, it would solve the issue for everyone that does do it. A user's documents folder would work perfectly. Sorry if I'm a little inconsistent with information I'm tired and just about burnt out on this stuff (including a lack of sleep)

Thank you for your prompt reply. Unfortunately I am not that tech oriented and
cannot easily find that folder. I did notice when I was booting up the LR software
that I could accept the site where LR usually is set up or choose a place. I am
thinking that the standard location for LR software is corrupted and that if I
chose a different place it would work. I say this because whether I use my
original disc or download from adobe I get the same warning. I have 100GB of
memory on the hard drive and I have cleaned the computer with Mcaffee and free
software. What should I do next? I can't use this software and I doubt LR 5
would open up with my current problem.

  • Massive temp files - How to track the root cause?

    Hi,
On our system we have about 9-10 subject areas, each being developed by different groups. We began noticing that our temp files found in /u10/app/FNEDW3/apfnedw3/OBIEE/BIDATA/tmp are around 5gb, and filling up very quickly. At one point the entire disk became full because of this and caused some of our reports and dashboards to become corrupted.
Our guess so far is that it's either some kind of incorrect join or a bug in OBIEE that's causing this, so is there any way to track what could be causing it? Our SAs tried rebuilding and restoring the server to correct the problem but it appeared again.
We are on OBIEE 10.1.3.3.3, DB 10g, and

I checked Manage iBot Sessions, nothing there.
Checked the timestamp on the largest temp file currently in the directory (5.4gb), and looked through NQSQuery.log and NQServer.log. Unfortunately the NQSQuery.log doesn't go back that far (1 day ago), I will have to check with the SA to see where the old log files go.
