What is the 27" iMac built in camera resolution?

2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
1TB Serial ATA Drive
8x double-layer SuperDrive
ATI Radeon HD 5750 1GB GDDR5 SDRAM
Apple Wireless Keyboard (English) & User's Guide
Magic Mouse

It seems to depend what app you use with the camera. Photos with an app like PhotoBooth are limited to 640 x 480. But video taken with an app like QT Pro can be 1280 x 1024. So the iSight is 1.3 megapixel, but the app limits what it can do.
Here is a little app to test your iSight;

  • HT1338 Is there any way I can capture video of myself using the iMac built-in camera?

I would like to do a self-interview for use in a movie project. Can I capture video of myself using my iMac built-in camera? Is there an app somewhere that allows me to do this?

Use Photo Booth - and select the "film clip" icon at the lower left of the window.

  • Hi, how can I keep the same zoom level for all the pages I view in Safari and even when I close and open it.  Indeed with a 27 inch Imac I have a lot of space, most of the websites are built for smaller resolutions  and my sight is dropping !   Thx

  • What is the best imac cleaning product "cleanmymac"

what is the best imac cleaning product i have looked at cleanmymac but do not want to pay the price for something if it is not the best.   HELP!!!

Try this - no harm in doing this, and you may see some instant improvement.
Open Terminal - type this in (without quotes) "sudo periodic daily weekly monthly" - put in your computer password when it asks. When it finishes running (about 5 mins or so) you'll be back at a blinking cursor.
Activity Monitor was suggested and is good advice. See if anything is consuming either huge amount of CPU cycles or RAM.
Depending on how often you delete and add stuff to your drive, you might wanna defrag it. I do mine about every six months or so. This article is nice - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4032 - I use a program called iDefrag and have it run offline overnight, but I am sure there are others.

  • The quality of built-in camera on macbook pro with retina display is far worse than any other mac. Why?

I just got the new macbook pro with retina display like a week ago and I've been noticing that the quality of the built-in camera on it is so bad.
It's even worse than my 2009 iMac or my sister's 2012 13" macbook pro. I don't get why this is a facetime HD built-in camera when i can obviously see that is not even near HD. Or is it just my computer. Do i have to bring it to the apple store??

it's advertised 720p so yes it is the same as all the other MBP.  it may just be the resolution of your monitor is stretching the pixels.  Don't worry about bringing it to the apple store.

  • What is the best iMac for a former PC movie/ music maker?

I'm researching Apple computers, and,my lord, I am out of touch. Actually, I was never really IN touch. Anyway, I am currently working on a short film, less than ten minutes, which will probably be eight or so hours of raw footage trimmed, cropped, flopped, color corrected, sped up, slowed down, etc.
I used Adobe Elements on my last project about six years ago, and am definitely using Adobe again. I also compose the soundtracks. I am planning on using an external hard drive to store my footage and music. So, I'd like to know what the best iMac is for my purposes, and also what iMac is acceptable (cost feasible).
What about ports for external hard drives and connections to the mini DV cam?
What about a connection to electric instruments (guitar, bass, microphone, etc)?
What about transferring video from my current external hard drive to a new one?
What about a disk drive for Burning CDs and DVDs?
I'm your vessel. Point me in the right direction.

Since you are just researching, I am going to make this as short and sweet as possible.
The 27 inch screen IMac is your only option. You need to have one with the fastest i7 CPU, fastest Graphics processor. Order one with the base 8 GBs of RAM and add additonal RAM through cheaper third party Mac RAM suppliers.
My preference is for the standard ATA 7200 rpm drives as the Fusion-type drives are not proven technology, yet.
If you want a really fast iMac and can afford it, consider an internal or external solid state drive (SSD) as these drives ard very, very fast.
For external drives fast drives are ones that use USB 3, Thunderbolt and/or FireWire 800 connections.
Stay away from external USB 2.0 external hard drives. They aren't fast enough.
You need an adapter adapter for your mini DV camera.
You are going to need some make of separate high speed audio interface box for instruments and vocals.
Look at interface boxes from M-Audio.
And you'll need to budget for a third party, good quality, high speed external FireWire 400/800 CD/DVD optical drive.
Plus, very seriously consider the purchase of extended 3-year AppleCare Warranty plan.
Something will go wrong with an iMac between 1-5 years.
Three years of warranty protection offers free repairs and replacement of you have hardware failures.
    Good Hunting!

  • IMac built in camera for video recording.

The I mac I purchased last year has a built in cam.I would like to know if I can do a short video recording using this cam.I know this is mostly used as a webcam, however I would like to know if I can do a recording on it.If so how to go about? Will the recording be like a webcam recording (not in full flow but cartoon like) or will it be  like recording on a handycam, atleast to an extent? I dont want the discontinuity woth short pauses inbetween, that we see on webcams.

You can see if you like it by using PhotoBooth's video function, the film looking icon to the left of the record button.

  • What is the effect of deleting contents camera roll

What will be the effect of photos sent to photo stream or put into albums if I clear out camera rolls on my devices in order to save icloud storage

If you do that you risk losing the photos.  Deleting them from the camera roll doesn't delete them from photo stream.  However, photo stream photos are not backed up (only camera roll photos are), and they only remain in iCloud for 30 days.  If you ever lose them from your devices, you will only be able to get back photos from the last 30 days (if any).  Also, photo stream photos are lower resolution than the original photos in your camera roll.
If you want to keep your photos, import them to your computer from the camera roll as explained here: iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer.  If you want to save space on your devices, save the photos you want to keep on them to the camera roll on all your devices first, then delete them from your photo stream.  (Don't delete them from your photo stream on any of your device until you've saved the photos you want to the camera roll on all of them.)

  • What is the initial iMac password?

i just bought the i mac and i want to download the adobe flash reader, they asked for a password and i have none yet.
    what is the initial password?

If you purchased a new iMac running Yosemite the initial setup asked for your Apple ID and password. That password was then used as the initial administrative account password. You can change the password in the Users and Groups section of the System Preferences.

  • What is the best iMac setup without spending a fortune?

Okay so I am looking to purchase a new iMac. I do a little video editing and a decent amount of photo editing and music editing. I will probably do some gaming also, but I know most of the hardware upgrades don't really affect the gaming ability. So here is my question. I want to get a 27" iMac, and I'm wondering what are the best upgrades for the money? I want the best performing system possible without spending too much money. Basically, what system setup (Ghz, RAM, drive type/size, i5 vs i7, etc) will give me the most noticeable difference in performance. I don't want to invest $200 more for i7, $200 more for bigger RAM, etc if there is only going to be a very minor performance improvment. I hope this all make sense, and ANYBODY's help is MUCH appreciated!!! Thanks guys!!!!

I would say any of the 27" iMacs would be a great solution. If you tend to keep computers for 4-5 years then it's wise to invest in the most power iMac today. In 4 years you will have a 18, 16, 15 and a 11 year old and you can be sure their interests will change. In that case I'd probably opt for the i7 CTO iMac with a 2TB HD. Do not buy additional RAM from Apple, buy that from reputable vendors such as OWC (www.macsales.com) or Crucial. Upgrading RAM is incredibly simple taking less than 10 minutes to do. I would upgrade the RAM to 12 or 16GB. I would stay with the base graphics card and consider getting the SSD option which will enhance speed.
If your habits are to keep computer for 1-2 years and then recycle them then either of then I'd probably opt for the base 27" iMac with the same HD noted above and RAM recommendations.

People on older Macs are reporting very poor experiences with Yosemite. I have been recommending a minimum of 8 GB RAM and an SSD. If your machine is too old to support that, I strongly urge caution.
