What is the ACTUAL storage space?
I'm considering getting an MBA, but what is the actual storage space available on MBA with all the standard applications of leopard installed? I seem to remember my imac had 20 to 40 gb already taken up by standard software when i unpacked it last summer.
If you are planning to get the SSD version at 60GB, be aware that the formatted space is about 55GB, You would need to find a separate usb drive for your vast music library unless you can pare it down as one does for inclusion on the iPhone. You can get the Leopard install down to maybe 11GB by eliminating language and printer support. You need to realize that you can use external storage and that you need to maintain at least ten percent or more free space on the internal drive.

what is the actual size of the record of type XXX when 'myRefs' is empty? For some reason, select data_length from all_tab_cols where table_name = YYY seems always to return 3K as the length of column myrefs.... is that correct? If not, what is the correct size?A tad late here...

The size of your REF attribute (or element, in your case) will depend on whether it is primary key-based or system-generated, whether it is scoped or not, and whether it carries with it a rowid hint. The overall size of your VARRAY attribute as it grows will also depend on whether you allow null REF values or not, but essentially will be the size of your REF multiplied times the number of elements in your VARRAY (plus a small, constant amount of storage for internal housekeeping, both for the attribute and for each element).
You could try the VSIZE function as an appromixation...

What are the best storage systems to archive inactive (but still used) apps and files of all types? I already have a Time Casule which I back up on and I'm needing to create more space in my flash drive in my Mac Pro, so I need another external storage system I can use to archive all that I don't currently need. I may still wish to edit and use the files, and I am not very techy and am a broke student... so anything grossly expensive is a no-no for me (between $50 and $200 is idyllic). If you could simply post links of different good/useful hard-drives that I can use, I'd be thankful.

Buy two external drives. Use one for Time Machine. Be sure this drive is at least twice the capacity of your computer's hard drive. Use the second drive as a bootable clone of your computer's hard drive. Should something happen you can immediately get the computer up and running from the clone until your restore from the Time Machine backup. This is what is called redundancy. Should either backup drive fail, there's another to take its place. Backup redundancy is very important. You can never have too many backups. -

We have installed OVM 3.2.1 in a server , which has 1TB HDD and 350GB RAM and we have installed the OVM manager in a seperate machine.
I am able to identified the server in the manager console but how can i use the local storage space.
Kindly help us to solve this issue.

if you want to import an ISO image, why you mount it?
after you complete your installation.
1- discover server. (if your installation is finished good, then you found your server in Onglet Servers and VMs / unassigned servers)
2- Go to Perspective / Physical Disk to verify that detect the second partition
3- if it's good, then crearte a pool with no Clustered Server Pool.
4- create a repository on your physical disk.
5- Go to ISOs in your repository and click import iso image.
Now, verify that your apache/httpd server it is working or not.
1- after you install apache/httpd
2- you shoud verify if it is running or not (pgrep httpd) if not start it (e.g. service httpd start )
3- copy the ISO file under /var/www/html
4- open your browser and verify.
and at this point i think it is good.
then copy the url to import the iso file with Oracle VM Manager
the URL Look's like http://IP-Address/image-iso.iso
you should verify that the IP-Address is reached from the Oracle VM Server.
and that's it
I tested it: and in my case:
i have copied the windows iso image:
cp ../windowsXP.iso /var/www/html/
and now my URL is like * http://IP-Address/windowsXP.iso*

i have an ipod nano 5th generation. the problem with it's that it doesn't show in itunes when connected to the laptop and it switches on on its own and songs start playing the battery gets consumed too fast after full charge. what is the actual problem?
What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue? Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?

my 16 gig ipad had 13-14 open, so the ratio is right. The 'real' capacity is 31 gig and change I believe, which is rounded to 32. Then add in a few gig for the operating system and the equivalent of drivers and you're down to 27 and change.
Just like when you buy a 4 gig flash drive it's really 3.7 or something like that. -

Normally when you execute a job in the back ground say like time taking reports or daily Scheduled background jobs, system will create a spool request for that so that you would be able to view the output of the report later and further take the printout etc. Hence, it is asking for print parameters.
Print parameters are those where you specify the output device, print preview, spool retention period etc, Basically those are the settings required for the way a print job needs to be triggered.
