It's because they have over 60% of the memory of my computer and i dont know why because i dont have any backups in my computer

It doesn't. "Real" Time Machine backups are entirely different and separate from Local snapshots, although they're usually made at the same time, and displayed on the same "Star Wars" display. But the daily Locals will be deleted after about a week (and all are subject to deletion for space reasons).
Because of a quirk in my current configuration, I have automatic Time Machine backups disabled on my Lion system, so I'm not able to see how it works in "normal" operation.
You can turn Local snapshots on separately, via the Terminal command in #30 (I usually have them running on my iMac). They may get turned back off unexpectedly, though, in some reboot situations. I haven't figured it out exactly, but it seems to be if you boot to the Recovery HD, then back to Lion. Sometimes.

Lion disables system info and software update in about this mac

hey guys I have problem with lion when I reboot lion,
it disables system info and software update in "about this mac"
actually it says "this button is disabled because there is no system profiler application" or "this button is disabled because there is no software update application"
and also everytime when I reboot my computer it always changes default applicatons. for example
it changes from VLC player to quicktime, from Archive utility to textEdit and so on.
each time i got to reinstall "Afloat application" if i want to use it.
for making them ok I just need to open software updater from system pref. and the button becomes visible again.
it is same with the system info. I gotto search system profiler via spotlight search and I run, button becomes visible again.
for the archieve utility i got to go to coreservices and open Archieve utility then automatically it becomes default app for .zip files again.

Did you just install Lion? If so, you might need to try to reinstall as something got messed up.
Alfoat uses SIMBL which will break at just about every update. The reason you may have to keep installing Afloat is because the Resume feature of Lion is not compatible with SIMBL. See here: http://roaringapps.com/app:383
SIMBL is a low-level system hack and may be causing your problems.

What does "Backups" mean in the "About this Mac" storage graphic?

I just migrated the contents of one Mac to a new MacBook Air and discovered something I had never seen before. I had 37MB of storage taken up with "Backups." What is that? What is the best way to reduce or manage it?
One other question, while I am at it. What is included in the category of "Other?"

How can I have ext hard disks show on "About this Mac/Storage" that are ousted and show on screen

I have Mac 10.9.5, Intel. I was working in iMovie, when message came up and said I do not have enough space on my hard disk.. I have several hundred GB available. All my ext. HD's appear on my screen. In "About this mac/storage" only my HD and two of the four external drives show up. The two ext. drives that show on "about This Mac" are full. I have done a disk utility check on every drive and they are fine. Also, the whole machine is very slow. I have rebooted also.

I looked up serial number in About This Mac and Support site says it isn't

I can't find my Apple Care plan or read the bottom of the computer but I looked up the serial number on my iMac under About This Mac. I copied and pasted it into the box to get a call for technical support and I get a message saying it is not the right number. Now what? How can I call them to get support without the number?

A valid Apple product serial number is eleven characters long, does not contain the letters I or O—though the numerals 1 and 0 are valid characters—contains the numeral 0 though 9 in the third position and the numeric string 01 through 52 in the fourth and fifth positions.
On your model, it's found screened beneath a barcode on the underside of your foot, or can be found as you were instructed using About This Mac or using the System Profiler application. If your logic board has been replaced and is not the original unit installed at the time of manufacture, your logic board may not have the serial number embedded in firmware. Right-click context menu on tabs shows Lock Tab and Protect Tab, but I cannot find any information on what each choice actually does. Can someone explain them to me?

If you press Ctrl+n to open a new window, does it have all the menus and toolbars?
If you restart Firefox, does the display return to normal?
If those don't work, you could try Firefox's Safe Mode. This will let you temporarily disable add-ons to work around any problem there.
You might want to back up Firefox before using Safe Mode. For help with that, see [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information].
Next, try starting Firefox in Firefox

I have downloaded itunes 10.3.1.55, when my device connects and syncs, the Summary, Info and Music tabs display, but no text is shown.

I can see buttons, but no text is on the box, so I don't remember what it does. I can see check boxes, but no text.

Don't reset your phone. Resetting will return the phone to factory settings and you will loose everything. Spend some time working toward a fix.
You might want to try a different USB cable. It is possible that your cable conincedentally went bad. I have had this problem before - even cables that will chrage the phone sometimes stop working for data purposes.

Yes, it doesn't work. I ran in safe mode. nothing changed. I uninstalled Mozilla firefox with only standard removal, no change. I finally uninstalled Mozilla with complete removal and reinstalled it, then it return to normal. Why does this happen? Thanks for your reply.
