What is the batterry spc in the latest iPod classic?

Hi All,
I'm new to the forums due to the fact I cab't find the info on ipod battery anywhere on the entire interweb!
Basically, have a new ipod classic (1 month old), going travelling and bought a power adapter, there are 2 usb ports on the power adapter, one for 500mah and the other for 1200mah. Anyone have any idea which one I should use?
Any help appreciated!

"The "other" category is for files that are not covered by the other listed categories. It is normally for about 1/4 to 1 GB. If larger that indicates that the "other" included corrupted files.  Usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.
To restore from backup see:

To restore to factory settings/new iPod see:

  • Does the latest Ipod Classic use the same charging pins as the earlier versions?

Does the latest Ipod Classic use the same charging pin positons as the earlier versions as I want to use it in my Audi where my 5th gen Nano will play but not charge as the pin configuration for charging changed from that of the earlier models.

If your 5th gen nano doesn't change, then a new iPod Classic will not either.
The "change" was that older iPods used firewire to charge the iPod. But that's 12volts (the same voltage as a car's battery). Then along came charging by USB, which is 5volts. So car manufacturers who were on the ball, introduced electronics to drop the 12v car battery voltage to 5v and put that 5v on the appropriate USB pins. (I would hope, that by now, every car manufacturer has sorted this out, but of course that doesn't help anyone with an older model car.)
The incredibly obvious - to anyone with technical knowledge - was that one day, Apple would stop the 12v charging method on newer models of iPod. But somehow, a lot of manufacturers of devices that charge iPods failed to see this. (It really was incredibly obvious, believe me!)
It wasn't just car manufacturers who were caught out by this, so were Docking Station devices. I know of one make, where the manufacturer recalled the ones still in shops so that they could re-work them to charge using the 5v USB pins.
In my car, made around 2006, I had an external device fitted so that I could plug my iPod into the car stereo through the Dock Connector. But hey, guess what? That device will charge my iPod Classic, but not my iPod Touch.
A long-ish answer, but hopefully it not only answers the question, but tells you why too.

  • Does the latest ipod classic have wifi

Hello everyone, I need to know if the latest ipod classic has wifi capabilities. I know that all previous generations do not come with it, the ipod touch I know it does. But Im interested in purchasing the latest ipod classic, on the apple website when checking the tech specs nowhere does it say it does. And is the latest generation called 7th Generation? Let me know please, thanks.

iPod Classic's main advantage is its 36 hour battery life. Having minimal wireless contact is what makes this possible, so if you're fine with syncing you iPod classic to your laptop/Mac whenever you want tunes then by all means purchase the iPod Classic, if not then the 32 GB or 64GB iPod touch I your best bet.

  • Have iTunes version 10 .3 but do not understand cloud in iTunes 11.03 can someone explain it and also how do you find duplicates in new version and will the new version sync with my iPod Classic which I have had for 4 years

I have iTunes version 10.03 which I love but my iPad Apple mini has iOS 7 but I don't understand the new iTunes what is the cloud shown next to the music and how can I find duplicates can anyone help me navigate the new iTunes and will the new version sync with my iPod Classic which is 4 years old

The main differences between iTunes 11 and earlier versions are the loss of coverflow and ability to have multiple windows open.
In Windows, you can restore much of the look & feel of iTunes 10.7 with these shortcuts:
ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album (Grid) view use Edit > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
With iTunes 11.0.3 and later you can enable artwork in the Songs view from View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) making it more like the old Album List view
View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) also contains options to change the sorting of grid based views
The cloud icons give you access to stream or download any qualifying past purchases that you don't currently have downloaded to the library.
Regarding duplicates, things haven't really changed. Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin. Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed)
Yes, iTunes 11 will support your iPod classic.

  • I had ITunes on a Dell laptop.  I copied it all to a Compaq laptop via external hard drive.  The Dell is deauthorized. The Compaq is authorized.  My IPod Classic will not Sync on the Compaq.  I have transferred purchases, but "Sync" is greyed out.

If the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
The iPod should appear in the sidebar, under DEVICES.  Select it there.  To the right, its Summary screen is shown.  Toward the top, there is a bar of buttons starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This Music screen is where you tell iTunes how to sync songs ot the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music.  This is the switch to enable automatic syncing.  If your iTunes music library fits on the iPod, you can choose to sync Entire music library.  Otherwise, you can choose to sync Select playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Then select what you want on the iPod from the lists below.
Click Apply to intiate automatic syncing between that iTunes library and your iPod (based on how the iPod's Music screen is set up in iTunes).

  • TS4124 Hi, do you know how can I upload inelegible songs from itunes to Icloud. They are songs added from original CDs. Another question would be how can I transfer all the music I have in my Ipod Classic to my Itunes or ICloud as I want to back it up.

Depends on why it's ineligible.  If it's under 96 Kpbs, try right-clicking on the file and choosing Create AAC Version.  (If you don't see this option, go to iTunes>Preferences, click "Import Settings..." then choose "Import Using: AAC Encoder" and "Setting: iTunes Plus".)  Then rescan your library to see if this version will add to iTunes Match.  Or, after changing your import setting, just re-import the song to your iTunes library.
If the song is over 200 MB you would have to reduce it's size to make it eligible.

  • HT4539 I do not have all my music on my computer or I phone. How can I transfer the music that is on my ipod classic to my computer?

I am missing some music on my computer and Iphone. I do have the music on my ipod classic. How do I transfer the music from my ipod to my computer?

If it's music purchased from iTunes then connect the iPod to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases, or you may be able to redownload it on your computer's iTunes via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage (whether you can redownload music depends upon what country that you are in, and whether it's still in your store).
For music from other source (e.g. copied from sources), then if you don't have a copy of it anywhere (e.g. on an external drive) then there are some programs listed half-way down this page which should be able to copy them back : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

  • TS1891 is there a way to invoke the disk scan mode on an ipod classic 80GB formatted on a PC?

I have tried to understand what the diagnostic information says under HDSmartData option, and apparantly there are:
    Reallocs: 392
    Pending: 40
So, I assume that 392 reallocs are bad. The 40, umm well, are about to be reallocated? What can I do to fiqure that out and to take action and fix the errors. My iPod is way out of warranty. This iPod classic is the one from 2007 by the way.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Andrew Joseph Poulain

I would, but swap the HD with a SSD, which besides lower power consumtion, dont gives HD problems like bad cluster, worn drive.
And I prefer the older iPods (I'm still using my flawless 80GB iPod 5th Gen Enhanced) and Original iPod Classic ( 6th Gen), which is showing some age, as the Realloc has creep up to 2650, but other numbers are low). I guess the newer hardisk are less durable.
