What is the best 24-frame camera under $30,000?

Sorry to post this topic twice. Somehow my previous thread was deleted? - and contained very useful information from Shane and others, with specific recommendations, such as the Panasonic P2 DVDPro HD camera. Again, this is for an extended project to edit in Final Cut Pro.

Hmmm. Well, if it was deleted, it was deleted for a reason. I cannot say I know what that reason is (it seems odd to me too), but posting it again might only lead to it being yanked again.
Odd. It did't violate any rules as far as I could tell. Maybe we were getting too chatty.

  • What is the BEST gaming laptop for under $3,000.00

I am looking around and comparing gaming PCs and laptops.  I am strongly leaning toward a laptop because I already have a fairly nice PC, but it really isn't built for gaming.  Any advice or suggestions are appreciated.  I like:

  • What is the best home security cam?

what is the best home security cam that works with an iPhone 6

Ignore RichmondDan, he is not a moderator here.
Your question is far too broad. This is like asking what is the best car that works with the iPhone. You might want to narrow your choices to a smaller number of devices, like 3, by using Google or other sites and then ask here again if anyone has used any of these with an iPhone 6 and how well they work and if they have had technical issues. This would be a technical issue and there are lots of similar ones here such as what stylus people recommend, which AirPrint printer, etc.

  • What is the best simple prosumer camera for FCE?

What is the simplest high quality camera to shoot, import to FCE with the least amount of conversion of footage time? Currently have Canon Vixia and all the conversions to get a simple output for the web are wearing on me! Your experience and expertise is appreciated. I work on PowerMacs, no intel processors.

Depending on your needs a DSLR might be a good way to go. You can get a Canon T3i for around $600. It's a great camera, I've outlined the pros and cons I've found after working with everything from bottom-of-the-line Rebels to the 5D Mk III. I love them for what I do, but you'll have to try one out and see for yourself.
    The cons:
Battery consumption. My canon battery lasts about an hour of shooting at the most. Buy lots of batteries and keep them charged!
Overheating. They do warm up quick and they will overheat in sunlight. Have some sort of shade for them and you'll be fine!
12 minute record time. Shooting at the highest quality, you cannot shoot more than 12 minutes at a time. If you're doing an interview, you will be taking lots of breaks.
No autofocus. If you shoot scripted material this is no problem, as you should be manually focusing anyways. However, keep in mind that most DSLR's do not have proper autofocus during recording. Those that do have a LONG way to go before they will really be useful. These cameras are just not made to do it.
    The benefits are:
Shooting MOV format, though it is compressed in H.264 which is not very edit friendly. You can do it, just make sure that once you finish editing your sequence, change your sequence settings to Apple Intermediate Codec and re-render the whole sequence before you export.
Interchangeable lenses. You get the whole lineup of Canon lenses to choose from, plus any other companies lens with an adapter.
Depth of field. The larger image sensor lets you blur out your background for cinematic looks that add another level of professionalism.
Low Light performance. Large sensors also are great in dark conditions as they capture much more light, giving better colors and lower noise.
SD card recording. They're fast, reliable and cheap. You can buy 10 and just keep switching them out once they're full, no dealing with tapes or discs.
Plus, you can shoot stills too! I know its a lot of information but I hope it helps!

  • What is the best accessories that are under £30?

I have £30 to spend what is the bast accessorie to get?

Sounds to me like you don't really lack anything so you could add to your music and video collection, or you could put it  your 30 pounds in money market or what have you, wait for it to compound in value than have money to by the next version of the latest and greatest apple iPod or ipad5 (the life force) which no doubt you will be drooling and venting for when we come down the road to it.

  • What is the best 24-frame DV cam for under $30,000?

If you plan on theatrical release, HD looks better on screen blown up than SD.
But that really depends on your DP too.
And if you need the expertise...get it. Learn it. 8 months ago I knew darn little about HD. I still don't know half what I should, expecially in the higher end...but I know lots about the format I am working in.
Take your $30,000 and instead of buying a camera, rent a Varicam package and operator for your shoot.

  • What is the best Wi-Fi camera for the iPad

What camera company makes a Wi-Fi camera it's easy to use with the iPad.

If money aint a problem, I would go with a GoPro(Black Edition). It gives its own wi-fi signal and is almost everything proof, and really hi-def.

  • What are the best ear-bud headphones under $50?

I’m going to Europe for about a year and (of course) taking my iPod with me. The problem is, Apple’s ear-buds that come with the iPod get pretty uncomfortable after about an hour. I’m looking for a pair of ear-buds headphones that are good quality, provide good sound, are comfortable, but aren’t too expensive.
The main two that I have been looking at are the Koss "Plug" portable headphones and the Sony Fontopia headphones. Does anyone have any other suggestions or are one of these good?

In my humble opinion... Sony MDR-EX51LP Studio Monitor Headphones (Blue) $39.95 Quantity: 1.
I use them and enjoy them for the price!
... of course, for over the price... Bose TriPort Headphones - Silver or any Sennheiser (HD497, HD590, etc.) pair will work fantastically.
Oh, yeah, the PX100, PX200, PMX60 by Sennheiser are good portables ones, too... highly recommended!

  • What is the best Macbook case/bag under 50$?

...and why do you think so?

(those 2 come in different colors too)
    But let me say this:
I have a Targus bag, and it's about medium size. I find it too big. Sleves are nice, but don't leave you any room. That's why I am going to find a slim case but with a handle and a pocect or too, just for CDs and a charger- or mouse. I have not spent too much time looking for cases, but there are soooo many out there- I am sure there is one for you. Also make sure the case is light. You don't actually realize how mich these things caan wieghuntil you use them. Another thing about small cases, they prevent you from throwing extra junk into the case. I end up putting, oh this in "just in case" and this in "just in case" And pretty soon the case is very heavy. I know know I will never need an extra USB cable- or the telephone cord.
    That's just my opinion.

  • Best consumer HD camera under $1,000

Hey guys this is kind of off topic but i was looking into getting a small HD camcorder for personal use (family functions, vacations, etc.)
    Qualities:
    1. I'm looking for one that's hard drive based cause I hate messing with tapes. Preferably at least 60GB
    2. Easily transfer the footage to a Mac to edit with either iMovie or preferably FCP 6.0.3
I'm aware that most cameras at this price will have difficulty with faster motion stuff like sports. And that's okay, my family doesn't play a lot of sports.
Thanks in advance for the advice.
    James

I recently purchased the Canon HF100 - it records to SDHC memory cards. 16gig will give you 2+ hours at best resolution. $687 from Amazon. $80 for the memory card, so less than $800 bucks. It's compatible with iMovie08 and FCP 6.0.1
I'm VERY happy with my purchase. Here's some stills from my first time using it:

  • What is the best step to transferring over 40,000 photos to photoshop?

I just installed photoshop elements 10.  All the pictures are on my external hard drive.  Should I transfer all of them or do a little at a time?

You can import the images directly inside Elements Organizer from the external hard disk. The files can be imported from Files->Get Photos and Videos from hard disk. You can choose the external hard disk and then import the images. In this way, the images will remain on you hard disk. You would need to connect the hard disk, whenever you want to work on your images in Elements Organizer.

  • What is the BEST way to get my macbook with lion on it, to communicate with my Canon 40D camera?

What is the BEST way to get my macbook with lion on it, to communicate with my Canon 40D camera? It says the utility disk is a PowerPC app and that is no longer supported. What do I do now? I can't upload photos from my camera.

Also, I had the same problem happen when I tried to install an older version of Corel Painter. Are Macbook Pro users just NOT supposed to be able to use their laptops for the purposes they are best designed for?

What is the best wireless camera that will work with my mac?

Any reliable brand that claims Mac compatibility.
Different wireless cams (wi-fi versus BlueTooth) may work better for different purposes, so ask your retailer for one that best does what you want to do with it.  For some examples of all kinds and types, click the link at the end of this sentence to see results of this search for your posted question.

  • What is the best way to back-up and load Hi-8 video onto my i-Mac so I can edit it on i-movie? A camera store will convert it to DVD for $32/120min.ll

What is the best way to back-up my Hi-8 video tapes and then load them onto my i-Mac so I can edit them on i-movie? A camera store will convert them to DVD for $32/120min. Will I lose a lot of quality that way?

Quality is not much of an issue with Hi8, the main issue is age of the tapes.  The older the tapes, the more degraded the images are going to be.  Regardless of how you transfer the video, the quality is going to be pretty much the same.
The "best" way depends on how valuable the images are to you and how many tapes you have.  I did a similar project last winter with a collection of 14 Hi8 tapes that dated from 1994 to 2002.  I bought a converter bridge (Canopus), maximum RAM for my Mac, and a huge hard drive.  I also decided to get Final Cut Express because it had more ability to enhance the pictures after downloading them.  I am very happy with the results, but it cost me nearly $1200 for the upgrades, equipment, and software.
The only other thing to consider is to be sure that if you go with an outside vendor (like the Camera Store) that the files they provide for you will be in a format that iMovie can recognize.
    Good luck.
