What is the best pdf converter

HI, I have downloaded some PDF files, but I would like to alter them. I was wondering what is the best way to go about it? Is there a decent App on the store? I am not looking to spend a lot, as I really do not create a lot of PDF's.

I think PDF Converter Professional will allow you to do this. Not 100% sure though. Even so, its ridiculous someone in this day and age can't open a pdf. Its as good as an industry standard by now. Every computer should have the software to open pdfs, just download it.

What is the best PDF to Word OCR editor for Mac?

"Best easy" could be a different answer for everyone.
I'd suggest starting with the basic editing capabilities in iPhoto.  It's already on your Mac.
If that doesn't meet your needs then you should probably consider Photoshop Elements, Graphic Converter or GIMP.
If you need even more "editing power" then consider Pixelmator.  Maybe even Aperture.  Aperture's basic editing capabilities are pretty powerful, and there are many great plugins that add more capabilities.
You don't see Adobe Photoshop in this list for a reason ... that is Adobe's recent change making all its professional apps available only by subscription (called the Adobe Creative Cloud).   Photoshop was always an expensive product, but the subscription fee makes it outrageously expensive - $240/year forever just for the one app.  And if you subscribe and use Adobe's cloud storage and then quit the plan you lose everything you may have saved in their cloud storage service.  "Buyer beware!"

  • What is the best video converter for DVD to iMovie? Either free or to purchase.

What is the best video converter for DVD to iMovie? Either free or to purchase.  And one that is 'fool-proof' and very easy to use.  Many thanks, anyone who can advise.

You want to 'reverse engineer' the compressed mpeg2 DVD file back to something iMovie can use?
You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
which is free, but you must also have the  Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
(unless you are running Lion in which case see below))
    which is a mere $20.
Another possibility is to use DVDxDV:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.overview.htm
    which costs $25.
For the benefit of others who may read this thread:
Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.
And from the TOU of these forums:
    Keep within the Law
No material may be submitted that is intended to promote or commit an illegal act.
Do not submit software or descriptions of processes that break or otherwise ‘work around’ digital rights management software or hardware. This includes conversations about ‘ripping’ DVDs or working around FairPlay software used on the iTunes Store.
    If you are running Lion:
    From the MPEG Streamclip homepage
The installer of the MPEG-2 Playback Component may refuse to install the component in Lion. Apple states the component is unnecessary in Lion, however MPEG Streamclip still needs it.
To install the component in Lion, please download MPEG Streamclip 1.9.3b7 beta above; inside the disk image you will find the Utility MPEG2 Component Lion: use it to install the MPEG-2 Playback Component in Lion. The original installer's disk image (QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg) is required.
The current versions of MPEG Streamclip cannot take advantage of the built-in MPEG-2 functionality of Lion. For MPEG-2 files you still need to install the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which is not preinstalled in Lion. You don't have to install QuickTime 7.

Friends can you tell me what is the best video converter (asf into AVI) for mac ox 10.5.8 leopard ppc?
    Thanks

Hi Mazdauk, To convert ASF to AVI, I recommend you the iorgsoft video converter which I have been using. It claims to support ASF as input and AVI as output. Anyway, I haven't converted ASF to AVI, most of the time, I convert MTS to MP4. You can have a try first.

What is the best file converter for Panasonic HC-X900M Camcorder Mts  files for use with Final Cut Pro?

This camcorder records in several ways, including AVCHD2, mpeg4 iframe, and 3d, at least that seems to be the case from a quick reading of its specs.
If you get the latest update for fcpx, it will handle video shot in 60P. That is 10.0.4
Here is what Apple says it supports, and one version of the 900 seems to be supported.
I think the Apple site is a little behind its own software update, as one advantage of the new update is that it handles 60P.
Maybe I am missing something, but I wonder what would happen if you get the latest update for fcpx, and try your card again. I did find that fcpx now supports my sony dslr at 60P.
Here is a thread with one person saying they can now use their 900.

  • What is the best video converter for high quality MPEG-4 for Apple TV?

What is the best video converter for high quality MPEG-4 for Apple TV?

Handbrake won't convert AVI files, But there are many more than those mentioned that will
The choice of conversion software is a personal choice, I have around a dozen applications that will tackle AVI's, however VisualHub is not one of them, not because there is anything wrong with it but rather I have enough such applications in my arsenal already.
I would use mpegstreamclip in most scenarios for what you are wanting to do but maybe not always. It is a good idea to have a few applications to choose from as not all do the same thing. mpegstreamclip has a few more options than some bog standard applications without becoming overburdening with choices.
You might want to try a few applications yourself before deciding on the software for you. isquint is a free limited version of visualhub, you might want to give that a whirl to get a feeling for visualhub.
Be aware though that quality conversions do not happen quickly, claims of being faster than other applications may well be correct, but are usually a trade off against quality. Again you need to choose your software to reflect your preferred balance between speed and quality.
Here's how I use mpegstreamclip, http://web.me.com/gartside1104/z008/Mpegstreamclip.html but your AVI's may well be low quality, you shouldn't set the bitrate any higher than your source file and likely lower, you shouldn't increase the frame size either.

  • What is the best video converter for iPhone?

My last question was deleted I guess because I was not specific enough. I have a Sony DCR-DVD108 DVD Handycam® Camcorder which writes everything onto mini DVDs. I am looking for a good video converter to convert my home movies with. I am using Roxio Crunch, but it doesn't do as good of a job as I had hoped. What is the best video converter to use?
P.S. Please don't delete my question again Apple.

It was probably deleted because you said that it was in violation of the TOU, which I have read. I own all rights to DVDs which I myself have created, and I give myself permission to copy said DVDs for whatever reasons I wish. I am in no way violating the TOU: "Do not submit software or descriptions of processes that break or otherwise ‘work around’ digital rights management software or hardware. This includes conversations about ‘ripping’ DVDs or working around FairPlay software used on the iTunes Store" because I am in no way trying to "work around" any sort of DRM, and I created the home movies and in no way was the iTunes Store involved; that is unless somehow a movie of my nephew's birthday is now available on iTunes. And I don't own an iPod video, I own an iPhone, which is why the question says "What is the best video converter FOR IPHONE?" and is why I am in an iPhone forum.

It depends on what you need in a PDF. If you just need to convert documents to basic PDFs, just use the Print -> PDF facility built into Mac OS X. If you need more, it will help if you tell us what features or capabilities you need.

  • What is the best VHS converter to DVD for mac

Ready to convert old VHS tapes to DVD.  What is considered to be the best on the market now for Macs?  Thank you for your help.

    Grassvalley ADVC300
I've played around with countless other conversion systems, ranging in price from $79 to $399. Short verison, this is the ONLY unit to own. No dropped frames at all, even with questionable quality tapes, no jitter, great color, excellent sound quality. Zero setup with iMovie 06 and iDVD 09/11.
This is a prosumer deck. The time code function is alone worth the price if you have old analog footage. Absolutely NO "Out Of Sync" audio.
ADVC300 is for anyone who wants to do editing and is concerned about quality of color and speed, for the novice it is an incredible gizmo that will restore VHS tapes to a state close to the original fixing midtones, highlights and shadows on the fly. Not only can you simply convert analog to digital you can actually manipulate the signal going in (if you want to).
A bit pricey but it WORKS.
The program that comes with the ADVC300 has some nice filters that can improve video and audio of the source material.
I would use iMovie 06 with iDVD 09/11. VERY easy and 100% "lossless"

  • What is the best way convert lps to digital on Mac

I've been getting completely awful audio using an Ion USB turntable (via Audacity and Lame) to record on a Mac OS 10.2.8.
Can you recommend another way that will convert an lp into digitial via a Mac? iMic? Below is an e-mail I sent before that got n response -- it details my problem with the Ion USB turntable.
Previous e-mail that got no response.
Macsters: Is the Ion turntable supposed to be plug in play when it comes to recording lps on a Mac -- in my case a 10.2.8 with a G4 tower. I plug to USB cable directly into the tower, use the Audacity software and get some of the worst sounding audio you can imagine.
I tried the turntable downstairs with my regular stereo console and speakers and it sounds comparable.
I've had a bunch of e-mails from the Audacity support group but they can offer support but no solutions.
Is the Ion turntable simply not what it's cracked up to be. With Audacity, I cannot control the input volume. Adjusting the gain in the back and the tone arm with needle hasn't made any difference either. Any ideas?
    Paul in Chicagoland

For LP to Cd I used line out from my stereo's amp to the line in of my G4 tower, and then used audio software such as Amadeus or Peak to record. Works fine.
I can't help but think you have some basic setting wrong. Or maybe the Ion's drivers (did it come with drivers?) need a more recent OS than 10.2.8.
Isn't Lame for converting to mp3? Try going to aiff first, and see how the quality is.
