What is the "best" swing book or e-book?

I am looking for a good book that will teach me the basics of creating simple swing GUI's. I want the book to have good examples and not move too fast, as well as give a detailed explanation of what's going on. I am familiar with basic java so I want a book that only covers swing concepts.
What swing books have you read and were they good? Please suggest any books and why you suggest them.
Thank You for your time.

its true that there is nothing better than the JAVA TUTORIALS but for examples
you can go to [JAVA2s|http://www.java2s.com/Tutorial/Java/0240__Swing/Catalog0240__Swing.htm] swing section which is a good place to have examples that will clear your idea/concepts
but prefer SUN tutorial as first place to start.

  • What is the best way to create Aperture book from Pages '09 document?

What is the best way to create Aperture book from Pages '09 document?

There is no way to import pages documents to Aperture and convert them to an Aperture book. Aperture books can only be created by manually adding images and text to the pages of a book, and using the layout of the predefined templates.
The best you could do, would be to print your pages document to pdf and import the resulting pdf file into Aperture as a new project. This will create one image for each page. Then select the page images all at once and  create a new book. Select a theme with fullsize page images, like "picture Book", and then add the images of the pages to the empty pages of the book.
But probably would you get a much better quality and layout, when you recreate your pages document in Aperture, by starting with an empty book and copying and pasting the text from your Pages document. But don't paste the photos from the document - try to use the originals of those photos.

  • What is the best way to sync Address Book contacts?

    Please help!
I run a small Mac network and I need to sync all (we have 8 Macs) the Mac's Address Book's with each other and also with 5 different iPhones. We have a Mac Server running Tiger and all the Macs are running Tiger. 4 of the Macs are Intel. The server is PowerPC.
At the moment I am just using 1 .Mac account to sync to them all, but this is causing many problems with duplications, errors and 'stress!'
The reason for the above setup is money. But, as the problems continue and the syncing become more important, money is now allowed to be spent.
My question really is, as the subject header says, 'What is the best way to sync Address Book contacts?' In the past I have tried XC Connect, and a few other apps, but with the introduction of the iPhones, the setup has become more complex.
If I were to buy all new Intel Macs and an Intel Mac Server all running Snow Leopard, would the 'Address Book Server' do the job? I have found very little information on the net and the information I did find was all negative.
Is there something Leopard can do that Tiger can't? Is Tiger nolonger a good enough system to try and run an Address Book network?
Does anybody else out there in the Mac world have a similar setup to mine, and if so, how do you have your setup.
Incidentally, ALL users, incuding iPhone users, need read & write access to the Address Book!!
Any solutions or suggestions would be most welcome.
    Thanks in advance

Oh, I meant Leopard does do more than Tiger Server.
I don't know enough about Server, even less abut Syncing.
SL is to new, not enough time to iron out the kinks yet imho.
One day SL will be better than Leo, but...

  • What's the best overall solution for managing books and eBooks?

I have a lot of eBooks (in .mobi and PDF format). I'd like to find a solution (software/system/scheme) such that
    1) The actual content syncs to several devices (Mac, iPad, iPhone) and can be read even when network is not present.
    2) There is a searchable, convenient database of what books are there.
    3) The database can be added to by barcode scanning the ISBN tag
    4) Some entries in the database are linked to full content. That is, I'd enter books that I have in electronic format, but also books from my library that exist only in paper form.
I'm looking for a total solution to manage all my books - list them all, plus enable ready access to the content for the ones I have. I'd like to have it sync to several devices. What's the best system - anyone have it set up like this? What's the best reader, database app, and way to hang it all together (with iTunes?). Thanks in advance,
    Mike

I am currently using WD 2TB Thunderbolt hard drive for my iTunes, which i love and is works great.  i am connected directly to my Mac Book Pro. I am running low on Memory and thinking of buying a bigger Hard drive.  My question is should I buy 6TB thunderbolt HD or 6TB NAS drive to work solely for iTunes.  I have home sharing enabled for my Apple TV
I also have my time capsule connected just as back up only.

  • What is the best way to resize a book?

I have InDesign CC and I am designing a culture book for my company. It’s about 100 pages and full of pictures, shapes, and text.
The book is almost completed, but I just got word today that we are changing the size. The original size was 7x9 and the new size is 6x9. This throws off the whole layout.
What is the best/ fastest way to scale down the book? Because all I know right now is manually re-laying out each page.
I also have acrobat XI pro, just in case I can use this software to help in the resizing process.
    Thanks.

@fcgpublishing – the "easiest" way would be to scale the contents only in x-axis to fit the new size.
You can do it on the InDesign pages with all objects selected.
You can do it with exported PDF pages placed into a new InDesign file and scale these.
But this would do harm to your aestetic preferences…
Sigh. No easy question. There is no magic way to do it without losing something on its way. Time and effort is needed to refine the process and the results. Whatever you like to chose: Alternate Layout, Layout Adjustment, writing a script…
"Best" and "fastest" are not compatible here.
Define "best" and you'll see it's not "fastest".

  • What is the best way to backup Address Book to external HD?

    Hello there
I would like to backup my Address Book on an external HD. How do I go about doing and what's the best way to doing it?
I have a vague idea but not sure if it's the correct folder to drag to the external HD. I went to ~/Library/Application Support/Address Book. My question is this: Is that Address Book folder the correct one to drag to the external HD? Am I missing other important folders to drag along to the external HD in order for both the Address Book folders to be the same in my internal and external HD?
    Thanks in advance!!

It would copy the information into a single file... The same as if you wanted to share your contacts with someone else-you could email the vCard to them, they would import it and have the all the same contact information imported into their address book.
For your own use, it's pretty much the same and works through the File>Import>vCards option in AddressBook.

  • What r the best sites to download e books for ipad

What r the recco web sites to download books to read on my iPad. I have downloaded iBooks but the store has a  only an archaic collection

If you buy books from another site then they will probably have digital rights management on them, meaning that they can only be read in that store's own app (if they have one) or e-reader - so you won't be able to read them in the iBooks app, unless the site says that they are compatible with it.
Have you looked to see what other ebook apps/stores exist in the iTunes app store in India e.g. is there Kindle, Kobo, etc ?

  • What is the best way to share Address book between 5 Macs that are networked?

We have 5 Macs in the office, using 10.6.x or higher, and linked by a network. One Mac has the company database, and needs to be viewed and updated by the other users. What is the simplest way of doing this?

Oh, I meant Leopard does do more than Tiger Server.

  • What's the best way to copy a book?

I want to SAVE AS to copy a book to new folder with new name, and have all the referenced graphics and text insets still linked. I am using FM 8 on Windows 7. Is there a good method to do this without purchasing a third-party plug-in?
    Thanks,
    Roger

    Thanks for all your replies.
I used Error7130's suggestion. I'm glad I made a backup first. One file got transferred to the new directory. I would add after your 3rd bullet, to close FM and re-open. Until I did that it opened the old book when I clicked on the new book. All in all, quite messy but it's done. Now I'm ready to buy third-party SW.
Has anyon tried SQUIDDS TOOLBOX? It looks like it is what used to be Systec Toolbox. They say:
'If you will decide for the feature “Book Transfer for FrameMaker 8” (99.00 USD).'
This keeps all the links but does not create copies of all the images and text insets like Bruce Foster's Archive plug-in that Arnis and Jeff suggested (I think).

  • What's the best way of reading PDF books in iPhone? Please, name software.

    Hey all,
I have a PC but a friend of mine has MAC, and we're both looking for best way to view pdf documents, but not through e-mail savings. Can you please help us, by naming any good APP or anything like that.

If the app store is not available then no one can recommend an app to read PDFs except as email attachments.

  • What is the best Premiere CS6 reference/tutorial book for an experienced editor?

Greetings all. I am a working professional editor here in Los Angeles, doing mostly short-form promos, trailers. and web videos. I have years of experience with both Avid and Final Cut Pro, and switch back and forth between them from job to job.
Lately I've noticed that more and more jobs are popping up that want you to know Premiere, and I'd like to teach myself. When I learned Final Cut I bought an excellent book called, "Final Cut Pro for Avid Editors" by Diana Weynand. Does anyone know if there's something similar for Premiere?
But failing that, a good general reference with advanced tutorials would be good! My preference is to have an actual book (as opposed to videos) so that I can leaf back through it to look something up. In the last few months I taught myself After Effects using the book, "After Effects Apprentice" by Trish and Chris Meyer. That was a great book, and I'd love to find something similar for Premiere.
Do you folks recommend the "Classroom in a Book" item, or is there something else better out there.
        Any advice welcome!
                    -Dennis

  • What is the Best way To Copy and paste data from 1 book to another

I have 18 sheets in 5 different books that I want to extract data from specific cells.  What is the best way to do this?  Example:  1 sheet is called Numbers E-O1 data in 13:WXYZ. The data updates and moves up 1 row every time I enter
a new number. So let's say I enter the number 12. Through a lot of calculations the output goes in 13:WXYZ. To what I call a counter which is a 4 digit number.  Anyways, how can I send that 4 digit number to a totally different sheet?  To bullet
    what I'm talking about
data in cells Row 13:WXYZ in book called Numbers sheet E-O1
send data to book called "Vortex Numbers" Sheet E-O row 2001:CDEF
What formula or Macro can I use to make this work?
    thank you!

    Hello Larbec,
    Syntax:
    '[BookName]SheetName'!Range
    Enter in cell  2001:CDEF:
    ='[Numbers]E-O1'!13:WXYZ
This assumes that the file is open in Excel. Otherwise you need to add the path:
    'ThePath[BookName]SheetName'!Range
    Best regards George

  • What is the best external hard drive for the MAC Book Pro with Retina?

What is the best external hard drive for the MAC Book Pro with Retina?
I was looking at WD MY PASSPORT FOR MAC and Toshiba. I want something that will work best with time capsule! Suggestions on the best external hard drive would be greatly appreciated!!!

A Time Machine backup drive should be substantially larger than the system drive.  If you have a 128 or 256 GB SSD then a 1 TB drive will suffice.  If you have a 512 GB SSD then a 2 TB drive will suffice.  As leroydouglas indicated any brand other than WD will do.
For 1 TB drives PlotinusVeritas gives some great suggestions here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5602141?tstart=0
A 2 TB drive sold by Apple:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/H9378ZM/A/lacie-2tb-usb-30-porsche-design-p923 3-desktop-hard-drive
    $130
A 2 TB drive just as good for only $92.
