What is the Best upgrade: X-Fi Titanium or X-Fi Titanium HD?

I have a 5. Surround sound speaker setup with my currently X-Fi Extreme Gamer PCI sound card. But I want ot upgrade to a newer model that utilizes a PCi-e x slot. I'm stuck between the X-Fi Titanium or X-Fi Titanium HD. I like the HD model, BUT i'm not sure if my minijacks will work with the HD? I also have a Turtle Beach HPA2 5.1 Headsets which has 3 minijacks.
Will the HD model be able to accept minijack connectors, like is there a RCA to minijack-female converter?
Or
would the X-Fi Titanium of last generation work better? I just like protecti've shroud of both models, but does the first generation titanium protect against EMI?
BTW, I have a Asus P8P67 Deluxe w/ a i5-2500k @ 5.ghz w/ 6 GB's of Corsair DDR3 XMS3 with dual GTX 580's.

I am looking for a new Macbook Air for college and was wondering what upgrade would be the smartest decision. I was thinking of a 13" air with:
1.7GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz

128GB PCIe-based Flash Storage
or a 13" Air with:

The former option would save me approximately $60. What are the benefits of an upgraded processor? I have heard they would make my computer overheat more easily and the fan would be significantly louder. This is making me question if the processor is worth it. In addition, I am unsure of how beneficial the 8GB as opposed to 4GB of RAM would be. How can I optimize the speed of my laptop if I want to run Windows through Parallels? That is essential.

Back in June 2010, I developed a website for a client which included some interactive forms created with LiveCycle Designer 8.0 (came with Adobe CS3.) He recently brought to my attention the fact that the data filled in by his customers on the forms does not display in PDF docs on his iPhone or Android smartphone (the PDFs and filled-in data display fine via desktop browsers.) Can anyone suggest the best (least expensive, least painful... I don't want to rewrite his site in HTML5) solution? E.g., upgrade my LiveCycle Designer 8.0 version and reinstall the forms on his site? Would that be to Acrobat X Pro? Does a second set of forms need to be created for mobile format? Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate it. Since my post, I noticed that Adobe offers free apps for iOS and android devices "to view and work with PDF files." Called: Adobe Reader X for mobile. Any idea whether these apps would resolve the issue described above? (Filled-in data on forms created on desktops not displaying on mobile devices?) When I bought my iBook I initially installed OS X 10.3.4. I was then given an upgrade CD a year or so later as part of a deal to buy my partner an iBook. I have since lost the upgrade CD but still have the original startup disk, which I have recently had to use to do an erase and restore after a problem.
As my computer still works fine, I want to upgrade the OS.
I am aware that I cannot get Snow Leopard because it uses Intel and obviously my iBook isn't as fast as modern Macs, but what is the most up-to-date OS I can get?
Also, does anyone know where I can get this upgrade?

If it shipped OS X 10.3.4 installed it is likely the Early 2004 model with a 1.0 GHz or 1.2 GHz processor. If your computer meets the other Leopard installation system requirements you can install Leopard Mac OS X 10.5.8.
Note that Leopard requires 9 GB of disk capacity for installation. In addition you should have a minimum of 15% of your total disk capacity as contiguous free space to avoid directory corruption. Besides, the HDD in your computer, if it is the original with which it shipped, is getting old and liable to failure without notice as the average life of an internal HDD is approximately 3 to 5 years. A newer, larger capacity HDD is advisable.
I would also suggest maxxing out your RAM to 1.25 GB by adding a 1 GB module in the user serviceable slot.

Hello Everyone, We create E-books nothing to do with designing and some time (Maths-Equations). Currently, We using PM 6.5 on win:98 with all that old software installed. However, We looking for upgrade either Win7 or Win-Xp. I tried on windows 7 to open my old PM 6.5 files in In-design CS5 everything worked fine. Just got stuck with "No fill patterns are supported right now. That patterns are those maths equation in that old 6.5 files which are not showing up right now in In-Design. So, if anyone could help me to fix this. I'll be glad. If there is no fix for this as of now. So at-least give me some alternative to fix this issue or some suggestion on what to do next. What are my options...? Because those old 6.5 files are very important for us and we use those files every time for reference in our new books or model papers. Our main concern is to upgrade to what we have no cue...? Thanks.

If I understand you, the bad news is you'll need to recreate those equations in ID, or in some other application and then place them.

There are many variables, so no one can say for sure. That said, one way to get an idea whether more RAM will help or not, is to check Page outs and Swap used. First, use your Mac as you normally would, the longer the better (checking this right after starting up isn’t likely to show you anything). After you’ve used your Mac for awhile (again, the longer the better), go to Applications > Utilities > open ActivityMonitor > in the top menu at right, select All Processes in the drop down menu > near the bottom of the window click on System Memory. If Page outs is more that about 10% of Page ins, and/or Swap used is large, chances are good that adding RAM will help.

Okay so I am looking to purchase a new iMac. I do a little video editing and a decent amount of photo editing and music editing. I will probably do some gaming also, but I know most of the hardware upgrades don't really affect the gaming ability. So here is my question. I want to get a 27" iMac, and I'm wondering what are the best upgrades for the money? I want the best performing system possible without spending too much money. Basically, what system setup (Ghz, RAM, drive type/size, i5 vs i7, etc) will give me the most noticeable difference in performance. I don't want to invest $200 more for i7, $200 more for bigger RAM, etc if there is only going to be a very minor performance improvment. I would say any of the 27" iMacs would be a great solution. If you tend to keep computers for 4-5 years then it's wise to invest in the most power iMac today. In 4 years you will have a 18, 16, 15 and a 11 year old and you can be sure their interests will change. In that case I'd probably opt for the i7 CTO iMac with a 2TB HD. Do not buy additional RAM from Apple, buy that from reputable vendors such as OWC (www.macsales.com) or Crucial. Upgrading RAM is incredibly simple taking less than 10 minutes to do. I would upgrade the RAM to 12 or 16GB. I would stay with the base graphics card and consider getting the SSD option which will enhance speed.
If your habits are to keep computer for 1-2 years and then recycle them then either of then I'd probably opt for the base 27" iMac with the same HD noted above and RAM recommendations.

Im wondering that you want to upgrade to 8GB RAM... Normally 3 or 4GB should be more as enough for all applicaions at the moment.
Anyway, as Jayjay said its not possible to upgrade to 8GB. A friend of me has a Satellite A300 and the user manual says that it can upgrade to 4GB or 2GB (depending on the chipset). So if you have a PM965/GM965/RS690M chipset you can upgrade it to 4GB. Otherwise you can only use up to 2GB.
I have upgraded my Toshiba notebook with Kingston RAM. This is high quality RAM and has a good compatibility. I never had problems with such modules.

What is the best sequence of upgrading: SSD, OSX Mavericks, iPhoto Library?

Working on breathing new life into / upgrading my wife's mid-2009 MacBook Pro (Macbook Pro 5,5 - Core 2 Duo, 2.26 GHz, 13"). Currently running OSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.
So far: I have upgraded the RAM to 8 GB from 2 GB, and replaced the battery which recently reached the end of its life.
Next up: SSD upgrade and possibly OSX upgrade to Mavericks.
My questions:
(a) What is my best upgrade path (order/sequence), given the few things I want to with this machine still?
(b) Are my plans and reasoning below sound?
1.Upgrade the 120 GB hard disk to a 240 GB SSD. I have a SanDisk Extreme II 240 GB (although I know this MBP won't fully utilize the SATA III, I got a good deal on it and plan to use it as an add-on drive somewhere when/if this MBP logic board fails eventually), and a USB to SATA adapter for prep work.
Plan: Attach the SSD via USB adaptor, initialize and partition with Disk Utility (Journaled, GUID Partition Map so it's bootable), clone existing hard disk using Super Duper or CCC (recommendations welcome--I'm on a budget ). Set TRIM enabler, and other recommendations per Upgrading Your MacBook Pro with a Solid State Drive
Reasoning: Doing this SSD upgrade first will give me more free space for updates/changes I plan under #2 and #3 below. (For example, current drive has 11 GB free, which is not much room to try and upgrade to Mavericks now before swapping out for SSD.) Additionally, Mavericks will perform much better on the SSD, per other threads I've read with similar MBPs.
2. Upgrade OSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard to Mavericks.
This is where some of my Mac knowledge is lacking: Is it best to upgrade here (what I've read so far indicates it's pretty seamless), or to install Mavericks freshly on the SSD and then use Migration Assistant to import from the old hard disk? I hesitate to do the latter, since this Mac still has some messes from a previous migration (see #3).
Coming from a Windows background, I have my biases, but I don't know if the jury's still out on performance differences between fresh Mavericks installs versus upgrades--any light to be shed here?
3. Fix iPhoto '09 Library and Consider Upgrading to iPhoto '11. Through reading on the great forums here I have concluded that my wife's photo collection currently exists in a weird place - 68 GB under /Previous Systems/<date of MBP upgrade from Macbook>/Users/<username>/Pictures/iPhoto Library. This seems to be left over from when she copied her iPhoto Library from her old Macbook, before this MBP. (Before I sat down to write this post, I had noticed there was an iPhoto Library (much smaller size, just a few GBs) in the normal place, under /Users/<username>/Pictures/iPhoto Library/ -- but now I don't see it, so maybe I goofed up and either lost that or imported it into the above library. Either way, that was going to be one of my questions!)
Should I move this "Previous Systems" iPhoto Library to a more normal place?
If I do again find extraneous photos or libraries outside of it, how best should I bring them back into one -- or a better question might be, how do I ensure THIS becomes the primary iPhoto Library going forward? (links to threads also appreciated -- I have come up short)
If this machine is now on Mavericks, is it a best practice to also purchase iPhoto '11? Eventually, our next Mac will come with it so it may be worthwhile eventually upgrading (I don't know if it is urgent, though).
Overall, does this process make sense? Any glaring gaps? Thank you for your time and wisdom!

Thanks Melophage. I've been looking into my options, together with the advice you gave. It seems like I can salvage quite a bit of data after a fresh install if I follow the steps here - OS X: Manually migrating data from another Mac. However, applications are my (only) concern -- for my iLife suite apps (which as I mentioned, are old -- '09 editions) how can I restore those after installing Mavericks fresh? Can I just plug in the original Snow Leopard disc that says applications on it, to install? Or would they show up in Mac App Store (I think not since they are so old and I haven't purchased '11 with this account yet).
My wife's computer also has some third party apps which would be a pain to reinstall but not end of the world, I suppose. Another route of migrating and keeping these (but still doing a fresh OS install) might possibly be according to OS X: How to migrate data from another Mac using Mavericks, which is really designed for multiple computer copying. But with the SSD external, could I install Mavericks and then take a Time Machine backup of my internal (original) HDD, including those apps, and then follow these steps to import them into the Mavericks install on the SSD, once I booted into it? Does that make sense?
After some further reading on the subject, I found a lot of difference of opinion (especially on some MacRumor threads) about whether to install fresh OS X or upgrade, but I guess if the install ends up cleaner it could be worth it to install a fresh copy.
Any comments on the above approaches, or thoughts from others here? Thanks again for your help.
