What is the best way to be sure that there is no virus

Hi guys,
thanks for your responds,
I believe my laptop has a virus or spyware. It is slow and take ages to comes up. Also during using internet exploring it is very slow in internet browsing.
During use of msn chat voice sometime it freeze.
What is the best way to be sure that there is no virus.
I already have Norton 2007 with the latest update.
thanks

Hi
> What is the best way to be sure that there is no virus?
The best way is to use an Antivirus application and some Anti malware and Trojan applications.
You use already the Norton Antivirus program. This is great. Be sure that this application is always up-to-date.
Additional you could install Adaware. This is freeware tool and it scans your OS for malware.
But the virus or malware is not always a reason for an OS freezing.
Please check your processes which are running in the OS background. You can use additionally the application called CClean.
It scans you OS for troubles and repair the registry.
Maybe it helps

  • What is the best way to handle collections that contains different object

    Hi
    Suppose i have two class as below
    class Parent {
           private String name;
    class Child extends Parent {
          private int childAge;
    }I have a list that can contains both Child and Parent Object but in my jsp i want to display a childAge attribute ( preferrably not to use scriplet )
    what is the best way to achieve this?

    Having a collection containing different object types is already a bad start.
    How are parent and child related to each other? Shouldn't Child be a property of Parent?
    E.g.public class Parent {
        private Child child;
    }In any way, you could in theory just check Object#getClass()#getName(), but this is a nasty design.

  • What's the best way to ID machines that need Jave SE 6 Update 14?

    I've just read the update release notes ( http://java.sun.com/javase/6/webnotes/6u14.html ) for the Java SE 6 Update 14 and I want to deploy it to our systems. I've never been real good at knowing just how to identify what version of Java a machine had. Because we're all Windows here, we usually look for products that are registered in Add / Remove Programs and that does the job for us. However, I'm not sure what the versioning should be for this update. Does anyone have the answer to this?

    Yes, that looks like the best way to identify the verison. I just get confused about the various versions and how they may or may not be related. For example, in the release notes, they talk about the 6u14 baseline and they mention other related version numbers
    Security Baseline
    6u14 specifies the following security baselines for use with Java Plug-in technology: JRE Family Version Java SE
    Security Baseline Java SE for Business
    Security Baseline
    5.0 1.5.0_18 1.5.0_18
    1.4.2 1.4.2_19 1.4.2_20
    I guess my question should have been worded, what "numbers" should I be searching for in Add/Remove Programs? 6.0, 5.0, 1.5.x or 1.4x?

  • What is the best way to deploy application that uses web services?

    Hi all,
    I'm having some problems figuring out the best way to deploy our app now that we've switched over to using web services.
    I'm fairly new to Java and web services. From what I understand, JNLP and WebStart are methods to deploy Java clients to users and not for creating war files and the like.
    Here's a little background:
    We have a large PowerBuilder/Oracle application. The db consists of over 500 tables and the client consists of several thousand PB components. A user creates "transactions" which contain a series of "sub-transactions" within. Most of the data is collected and stored locally in the client in a series of datastores. When the "finalize" happens, the records are validated and sent to the database.
    We are in the process of moving each of the subtransactions (currently in the PB client) into subPROCESSES on a java project. We are using the JAX-WS framework to develop the web services in Netbeans. These web services aren't much more than remote xml as the messaging technology. For writing data back to the database, we are using the Java Persistence API to function outside of an EJB container but will shortly be migrating to the Glassfish application server to use several of the EJB container frameworks including the EntityManager.
    We haven't attempted any type of deployment and are unsure of where to start. Any suggestions would be so helpful and appreciated!
    Thanks!

It is for launching rich client GUI based (AWT, Swing, SWT..) applications onto the end-user's desktop.
    There are some parts of JWS that might seem peripherally useful to the installation of a web-app., but it is really not a 'good fit'.

  • After updating my ipad, it won't come back on, it has the itunes plug in on screen, what is the best way to restore everything that was on my ipad?

    after doing an apple update, my ipad will not respond, all i get is the itunes plug in.  I want to make sure to restore everthing that was on my ipad?

    The iTunes and plug icons are telling you that the iPad is in recovery mode. Connect the iPad to the computer you normally sync with and restore the iPad. You can use your most recent backup to restore your content. If you haven't backed up your iPad then your content is lost.

  • What's the best way to check whether a user is logged in or not?

    I have a question about basic session handling.
    I'm running Tomcat 5.0.30 and have a web application where users can register with a username and password, and then log into a "member site".
    What is the best way of making sure that a user actually has logged in or not?
    What I've done in previous applications I've made is that I've just put a simple variable into the users session after he has successfully entered his password (i.e. Boolean loggedIn=true). Then I just test if this flag is true to grant him access to the member site. Is that a smart way of doing it?
    Are there any libraries I can use which handles sessions for me in a secure way?
    All comments and suggestions are appreciated!

    Maintain a flag using session attributes it to one when the user is logs in set it to value.... and change set it zero or invalidate that session... when the user is logged out...
    use something like this while user had logged in
    session.setAttribute("flag",<unique_number>);
    for checking whether the user had logged in or not...
    if(Integer.parseInt(session.getAttribute("flag").toString())=!<unique_number>){
    out.println("The session had expired");
    out.close();
    }

  • What is the best way to organize a tree-like structure of constants?

    Hello everone!
    Need help with organizing my constants structrure.
    I have several tables, and each of them need a list of column names to define the fields returned after query, and also a corresponding list of hashmap keys because that columnnames are ugly. Hashmap is where I store the result of searching through the table. This question is not about JDBC because I search through tables via COM interface, no JDBC ResultSets and other stuff here.
    Finally, for each table I have two constant lists and I have a list of tables. What is the best way to store this?
    My first idea was to create a enum and store column data in it as String array attributes: String[] columnNames; etc.
    But in this case I cannot use each column and key separately.
    Another option is to create two separate enums for each table: columnNames enum and keys enum. That doesn't look great also.
    The third option is to create inner class for each table and store two enums in each of that classes.
    Also I can store all data in hashmaps, Strings etc.
    (1) Finally, from your experience, what is the best way to organize all that stuff?
    (2) I have heard that smart Java programmer should avoid using the enums by any means. Do you agree?
    (3) Generally what will you prefer when creating a constant which has two values: two final Integers or enum?
    Edited by: Dmitry_MSK on Jul 8, 2010 5:22 AM

    I'm not sure why you don't just invent a generic data structure (e.g., table name, list of column names and aliases of column names) such as:
    class QueryMetaData {
      private final String tableName;
      private final String[] columnNames;
      private final String[] columnAliases;
    }Read into the above structure from a properties file, database table, etc. You can store meta-data itself in places other than enum constants, particularly if would like to change the meta-data without requiring a new build of your application.
    That having been said, WRT to your specific questions:

    (2) I have heard that smart Java programmer should avoid using the enums by any means. Do you agree?Enums are better than simple constants using int or String or something similar. If there are known, discrete values unlikely to change frequently, I see no issues with an enum. They improve the readability of code, and there are enough syntactic sugar features in the language (switch statements come to mind) to make them appealing.
    (3) Generally what will you prefer when creating a constant which has two values: two final Integers or enum?
    See above. Enums were introduced (in large part) to do away with storing constants as integers.

  • What is the best way to organize queue in R/3?

    Hi,
    I'm in a middle of a project, where I should implement queue in order to sync data between 2 systems - r/3 and legasy one. I have few user exits (or bussiness events), which could be rised concurently in time, and I need only 1 instance of the sync module to run at a time. Well, I know the technique to prevent a program from running in multiple processes, and I have an idea how to organize a queue (my idea is to use transparent table to track actions which should be sync-ed), but there allways are some 'bottlenecks' that should be considered in such an implementation.
    That's why it might be of great help if someone could share his/her knowledge on this topic or point me to the right paper/docu, if available.
    I just don't want to reinvent the wheel, if possible
    Many thanks in advance.

  • What is the best way of Exception Handling

    There are many ways to handle the exceptions of a program.
    1: You could put every exception handler in the most upper abstract classes.
    2: You could write a generic exception that handles a lot of things.
    3: You could write exceptions handling for every class.
    4: you could group the exception handling.
    many, many more ways.
    Question:
    What is the best way to do this?

    There are many ways to handle the exceptions of a program.
    1: You could put every exception handler in the most upper abstract classes.I woldn't do that always, a class may throw an exception if it's not able to handle it prperly, but it may, so it'll catch it. Throw Exception in abract supper clases only when you are sure the children must always throw the exception, not processing it.
    2: You could write a generic exception that handles a lot of things.Bad idea, if you always throw an Exception no informtaion is provaided about whta happened, if you throw a NullPointerException and a NumberFormatException in one of your method I (for example) colud handle properly both problems, one likely to be a programming erros, so check my cod eagain, and the other like to be an user error in introduciong some data, so I wold ask him for the data again.
    3: You could write exceptions handling for every class.Write exceptions handling for every class that needs it, throwing the exception if at that moment you don't know what to do with it and catching it if yes. Do not employ too many exception handling: execution of try catch blcks is slower than usuall code.
    4: you could group the exception handling.I don't undestand this. What do youmean?
    Question:
    What is the best way to do this? In general thrwo an exception if the class dosen't know what to do with it, the class which uses yours will handle it. If your class can process the Exception, don't be too lazy and process it.
    Employ exceptions always you need them but do not abuse; thay made the code execute slower because the VM machine must check if the exceotions occur.

  • What is the best way to back up my photos?

    My time machine has not backed up my computer for several months and the external hard drive no longer works or turns on.  I have over 20,000 photos that I need to back up.  What is the best way to make sure I don't loose them.  Do I need a another external hard drive?  What brand? How much storage?  Thanks for an expert advice out there!

    You should always back up any and all information you cannot afford to loose, or simply do not wish to loose.  So, yes, if your backup drive is dead, you should replace it, a.s.a.p.  Having an up to date backup is your only guarantee of recovering your files should your computer develop problems.
    Ideally, get the biggest drive you can afford, but at least 2-3 times your hard drive size on your iMac.  The larger the TM drive, the further back in time you will be able to keep backups.
    There are lots of good drives available - I have a WD mybook 1TB USB2 drive as my current TM drive and it has worked flawlessly since I got it in 2009.  Other world computing (http://eshop.macsales.com) also sells some great drives - I have one of their Mercury Elite Pro's (also 1TB) and it has been superb as well.

  • What is the best way to build a news system?

    Hi everyone,
    I am building a website using webcenter and I need to do a section called "News". The Editor user is going to put on this section some news about the company.
    The doubt is: What is the best way to do is? There is a way to integrate the webcenter with Content Server and store the news as a content on it? Or the best thing to do is treat each news as a page (by using the task flow - Page create new)?
    Thanks
    Daniel

    Hi Daniel,
    I'm not shure if that is the best way, but we're using the Page Service Task Flow and scope.
    If you want to use Oracle Content Server(ucm) probably your user must create a doc(news) and upload it by using something like the Library Task Flow.
    Bye...

  • Iphone 4s coming friday, what is the best way to get the notes content from iphone 4 to 4s without doing a restore? i want the new phone to be totally new but not sure how to get notes content across.

    What is the best way to get the notes content from iphone 4 to 4s without doing a restore? i want the new phone to be totally new but not sure how to get notes content across. If I do a restore as I have when previously from one iphone to another it has shown (in settings, usage) the cumulative usage from previous phones so all the hours of calls on all previous iphones will be displayed even though its brand new. Anyone know how I can get my notes (from standard iphone notes app) to my new iphone 4s without restoring from previous iphone 4. Thanks for any help offered.

    First, if you haven't updated to iTunes 10.5, please update now as you will need it for the iPhone 4S and iOS 5.
    Once you're done installing iTunes 10.5, open it. Connect your iPhone to iTunes using the USB cable. Once your iPhone pops up right click on it. For example: an iPhone will appear and it will say "Ryan's iPhone."
    Right click on it and select "Backup" from the dropdown menu. It will start backing up. This should backup your notes.
    Please tell me if you have any problems with backing up.
    Once you backup and get your iPhone 4S, you must follow these steps. If you don't follow these steps, you will not be able to get your notes on your new iPhone 4S.
    Open up iTunes again then right click on your device (iPhone 4S). Once you do you will see a dropdown menu. It will say "Restore from Backup..." Select this and it'll ask for a backup, select it from the dropdown menu. For example "Ryan's iPhone - October 12, 2011." Pick that and it will restore to your backup. Do this when you get your iPhone 4S so you will not lose anything. Even though you're restoring, you're getting back, since you're getting the previous settings, notes, contacts, mail and other settings from your old iPhone. You'll still have Siri though! So, restore when you first get it. Also frequently backup your device, as it will be worth it. You can restore from a backup if something goes wrong or save your data for a future update.
    Once you do that, you should have your notes on your new iPhone 4S and iOS 5.
    Please tell me if you need any help.
    I hoped I answered your questions and solved your problem!
