What is the best way to deploy an applet using iWeb

I have an applet with a very standard applet tag.
I don't see any way to deploy that directly.
So instead, I just create an html snippet widget, and paste in the applet tag.
Very simple standard stuff
<applet codebase="xx" code="xx.class" etc>
<parameter ...>
<parameter ...>
etc
</applet>
iWeb has not seen my applet yet, so it is just a bunch of html code.
The problem is that it is hanging forever.
Apparently it is throwing some kind of exception.
Give it a try and you will see.
Whatever shall I do to get my applet deployed?
Thanks, Victor

  • What is the best way to deploy application that uses web services?

    Hi all,
    I'm having some problems figuring out the best way to deploy our app now that we've switched over to using web services.
    I'm fairly new to Java and web services. From what I understand, JNLP and WebStart are methods to deploy Java clients to users and not for creating war files and the like.
    Here's a little background:
    We have a large PowerBuilder/Oracle application. The db consists of over 500 tables and the client consists of several thousand PB components. A user creates "transactions" which contain a series of "sub-transactions" within. Most of the data is collected and stored locally in the client in a series of datastores. When the "finalize" happens, the records are validated and sent to the database.
    We are in the process of moving each of the subtransactions (currently in the PB client) into subPROCESSES on a java project. We are using the JAX-WS framework to develop the web services in Netbeans. These web services aren't much more than remote xml as the messaging technology. For writing data back to the database, we are using the Java Persistence API to function outside of an EJB container but will shortly be migrating to the Glassfish application server to use several of the EJB container frameworks including the EntityManager.
    We haven't attempted any type of deployment and are unsure of where to start. Any suggestions would be so helpful and appreciated!
    Thanks!

It is for launching rich client GUI based (AWT, Swing, SWT..) applications onto the end-user's desktop.
    There are some parts of JWS that might seem peripherally useful to the installation of a web-app., but it is really not a 'good fit'.

    In the page I simply referenced the facescontext directly... no need for a custom servlet.
    public void createcookie() {
    FacesContext fc = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    HttpServletResponse resp = (HttpServletResponse)fc.getExternalContext().getResponse();
    Cookie userCookie = new Cookie("cookiename", "cookievalue");
    userCookie.setMaxAge(-1);
    userCookie.setMaxAge(3600);
    resp.addCookie(userCookie);
    return null;
    public String readcookie() {
    FacesContext fc = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    ExternalContext ec = fc.getExternalContext();
    Map cookiemap = ec.getRequestCookieMap();
    if (cookiemap != null) {
    Cookie cookie = (Cookie) cookiemap.get("cookievalue");
    return cookievalue;
    For reference I could not get getCookies() method of HttpServletRequest to work.. it would only return JSESSIONID.

  • What is the best way to deploy/update custom security realm classes to WLS 6.0?

    From the WLS 6.0 console, I see that I can specify the Java class that
    implements my custom security realm but I am wondering what is the best way
    to deploy/update this code. I don't see a way to do this from the console.
    Does this mean that I have to manually copy the class files over that
    implement my custom security realm?

    Thanks Danut,
    A jar file seems to be a good way to package it up but it sounds like it
    still needs to be manually copied to each Weblogic server install directory
    post-installation and whenever it is updated. I thought it would be nice to

    You have to have your Custom Realm class in the class path. I usually havea

  • What is the best way to manage multiple ipods using the same itunes?

    Hi Everyone
    i am trying to manage three different ipods through the one Itunes, all with very different tastes, not sure if I am doing it the best or easiest way so does anybody have a simple solution on what you're supposed to do, to keep it all simple!
    Cheers
    Liv

    If you have created a new Windows user account you need to log out and then log back in with your original user name. By default each Windows profile will have an independent iTunes library.
    If instead you managed to create a new library within the same profile. click the icon to start iTunes and immediately press and hold down the shift key, keep holding until asked to create or choose a library. Click Choose and navigte back to your original which should be at <User's Music>\iTunes.
    Your question as posed was:
    What is the best way to manage multiple iPods using the same iTunes {library}?
    in which case Selected Playlists is probably the best approach. Simply create a playlist for each device, Alice's iPod, Bob's iPhone etc. and sync the device with the appropriate list.

  • What's the best way to prevent KDE from using pulseaudio?

    What's the best way to prevent KDE from using pulseaudio if it is required to be installed for gnome?

    KDE system Settings > Mulitmedia  (in Hardware category) > Audio and Video options > Audio Playback
    the default device shown there is the pulseaudio device, move it to the bottom of the list
    Check all sub entries under Audio Playback to make sure they all have default at the bottom.
    This SHOULD make KDE sound subsystem use the real hardware directly through Alsa instead of pulseaudio.

  • What is the best way to deploy an application ??

    Hi,
    Please advise me how to automate in a best way to Deploy 10 different applications(.ear/.war)
    to 10 different Clusters(containing 40 Managed servers) in wls6.1......and that
    too in a Production environment.
    I know that we can use weblogic Console to deploy an application BUT if i have
    2 unix boxes and each box contains 4-4 clusters(each containing 16-20 managed
    servers) .....then i have to open up 2 Admin server consoles to deploy each of
    the respective applications and that too deploying these application to 8 clusters.....OR
    i can use deploy commad to do the same.
    AND if i have like 100 clusters .....then i would have to "deploy" 100 times ......
    is there any way that we can BEST AUTOMATE this process.
    Thanks a lot.

    Thanks Tommy. but i would like to know a very important point here: this is using
    the weblogic.utility that you just talkd about.
    Suppose iam having an ADMIN server that has say 10 clusters and 50 managed servers
    underneath to take care.
    1 cluster each = 5 managed server
    now iam deploying a simple .war file to say a single managed server, i have found
    out that it takes a looot of time to get the application deployed.
    what do you say about this situation ?
    what is the best approach ??????

    To deploy the application from the command prompt in WebLogic 6.1 you
    use the
    following command
    $JAVA_HOME/bin/java -cp $WL_HOME/weblogic.jar weblogic.deploy -port $WEBLOGIC_PORT
    -host $WL_HOST_IP $WEBLOGIC_CMD $WEBLOGIC_PWD -component $WL_Server_NAME:$WL_Server_NAME
    $WL_APPLICATION_NAME YourApplication.war
    $WEBLOGIC_CMD sould be DEPLOY for the first time deployment and UPDATE
    for redeployment
    For deploying in a cluster you better create a shell script which call
    the above
    command with different cluster ip address as a parameter.

    do you see any advantages using [ANT + weblogic.deploy]..... over

  • What is the best way to deploy Web Dynrpo DC without NWDI?

    Hi, SDN Fellow.
    We are currently developed our WDP DC without using NWDI (we are just creating local DC of the Web Dynpro project.)
    Now, we need to send our deployment archive to the sys. admin team to transport them to Dev from Sandbox.
    I just wonder should I just deploy the ear file that located in the .../dc_name/gen/default/deploy/xxx.ear by using SDM? Or there is a more proper way for us to deploy our WDP DC works?
    I know that I can just set up the J2EE engine of the Dev / QA box and deploy them, but it doesn't seems like the right procedure to do so.
    Please suggest, thanks.
    Thanks.

    Hi, Maksim
    > >>but it doesn't seems like the right procedure to do

    What I means it does not make sense is deployment through NWDS.
    System admin usually will not install a NWDS to deploy the ear, but they will use SDM to deploy the ear files.
    I just need to verify there is the best practice to do so.
    Thanks for your answer.

  • What is the best way to manage itunes content using an external hard drive connected to airport extreme?

      Just a little history on what I've already tried. I have my itunes folder on my external hard drive with an alias linking to my macbook pro. My hard drive is networked from airport extreme. Streaming content is not a problem. Syncing my iphone is the problem. I just get the pinwheel and a message stating sync unsuccessful because itunes was unable to connect. It takes a very long time to change any settings in itunes for mu phone.I have 8g of ram so that shouldn't be a problem. Any help would be appricated.

    The best solution would be two different types of backups, one local (in your own home) and one elsewhere. So, option 3 is the "best" solution.
    I, personally, use Crashplan to backup all of my computers because it's much more convenient than an external hard drive.
    With an external hard drive, you can either use Time Machine to create the historical/incremental backups OR you can create a bootable clone periodically using SuperDuper! or Carbon Copy Cloner.
    I don't know of any way to make the machines mirror images of one another - as far as I know, the best you could do is transfer data from one to the other at time of purchase and then use something like DropBox to keep files in sync.

  • What is the best way to configure AE for use as a wireless bridge?

    I am using an AE to provide airtunes to my living room receiver as well as getting internet connection to my living room PC. The way I have it set up is that I am connecting to my existing wireless network (provided by a dlink dir-655) and then plug in the minijack for airtunes and plug in ethernet cable between AE and PC. I don't have a wireless card in the PC so that's why I connect via ethernet cable/AE.
    The problem is that the speed with the AE connected PC when it comes to the web, is quite slow. Many times Youtube just freezes and sometimes never catches back up.
    I've checked speeds with speedtest.net and my speeds fluctuate an extreme amount.
    Is there a way I should configure the AE better to act as a bridge for my ethernet/AE connected PC?
    BTW, I'm only about 25 feet from the dlink wireless router so connection quality should be fine. As both devices support N, I think things should work better!
    any suggestions?
    Thanks

    The newer 802.11n version of the AirPort Express offer an option to configure the base station as a wireless Ethernet bridge. Again, Apple calls this ProxySTA. You configure for a ProxySTA by having the base station join an existing wireless network AND by enabling the "Allow Ethernet Clients" option, located on the Wireless tab within the AirPort Utility.
    My point is that, as a ProxySTA, the Express will NOT extend the wireless range of your D-Link router. Instead, it WILL allow wired clients to connect to its Ethernet port for network/Internet access.
    In the manual setup settings, I see that there is a wireless setting to extend a wireless network and to participate in a WDS network. Would either of these two be better for what I'm trying to accomplish?
    In this scenario, no ... as a WDS would not work because very few non-Apple routers are WDS-compatible. Most likely, your D-Link is not as well ... so your current configuration is the only option for what you are trying to do.
    It seems that this current configuration should be rock solid, but perhaps I'm not using the proper setup.
    The #1 problem with a ProxySTA is that it does not provide the highest level of bandwidth performance. Typically, for the AXn, the best-to-worst performance would be the following configurations: 1) Wired-to-wireless, 2) Wireless-to-wireless (WDS), and 3) Wireless-to-wired (ProxySTA)
    As you can see, the first option would be the best, but it would require that you connect the AXn directly to the D-Link by Ethernet ... which, of course, would tie-up its only Ethernet port so that you could not connect the PC to it as you require.

  • What's the best way to create a portfolio in iWeb?

    I'm a freelance writer. I'm creating my website using iWeb. Now I'm trying to add my portfolio. I don't think the album page will work. Does anyone have any advice?

    There are several ways you can go about it. If the documents are single pages it would be easier to create an image file of the document and add it to the web page for the visitor to read.  For a downloadable pdf version of it first make a pdf version and then zip/compress it:
    Then create a text based hyperlnk like "Click to download" and link it to the zipped file via the Inspector/Link/Hyperlink pane and the Link to a File option:
    Click to view full size
    Another approach would be to create image files of each document you want to display.  Then upload them to a folder on your server titled "docs".  Then use the method in this demo page to let visitors click on a button under a thumbnail version of the document to open it in a new, separate window for reading: Opening Item in a New, Precisely Sized Window.
    Then add a hyperlink under each thumbnail titled "Download" and link to the zipped png version.  You could add many docs to one page and not have to create a separate page to display each document.  An example of multiple items on a page that open in their own windows can be seen in this demo page: PhotoPresenter Animated Slideshow Themes.
    It's just what you're comfortable with as far as iWeb is concerned.
