Hi all inDesigners.. i have a i hope simple question...
Lets say i have a DB with category of ads's for instance Cars.. and we have ca1-add,car2-add and so on.. in the db...
so i want to c what is the best format to export the db so i can import it in in design to look like these attachments below.
the first pic you have the category name i guess this ill do all manually... with the color coding that's all ok but if you notice
basically you have 4 columns , that contain normal ads yellow background ads and banners... so my question is what is the best format to export so i get add1 and then a separator line under add2 and a separator line under.. and so on..
and is there something like this functionality..
any line that begins with the phrase for instance Yellow_add make the add txt frame yellow so it will look like in the attached jpg?
is the idea to make the ads like 160 char limited and do an export for each add 160 char (fill in the blanks) and make in inDesign equal space lines so when i paste the txt it will take the shape like in the jpg's?

I don't like changing batteries so I would buy a separate Apple keyboard with numeric pad since it only comes with wireless keyboard. I'm a trackpad enthusiast having been using my macbook pro trackpad with current set up; and I am prepared to buy the Apple trackpad and replace batteries every 2 months but I would greatly prefer USB connection and rechargeable trackpact. Is it possoble to transfer my itunes library from my pc onto my wifes Imac which has her itunes library and establish two accounts on her Imac? If so what is the best method to accomplish this? I have a itouch player.
There are many ways to accomplish this, depending on how you want it. Setting up multiple accounts is easy under System Preferences:Accounts. After that open iTunes on your newly created account.
Now, is where you could do a couple of different things. If your PC is sharing the same network and you are able to see the files on the PC from the iMac, then just drag and drop the iTunes Library music folder structure (just the part that contains the actual music) into the iTunes window. If you can't access the PC files, then you need to copy them all to an external hard drive, and import them w/ the same method.
If you don't want to create a second root-level account for yourself, but want to keep the music library separate, create another iTunes Library. You do this by holding down the Option key while starting iTunes, then click on the Create Library option. Then import the music using either method above. -

When you add a gift card balance to the Apple ID, it's available for the Apple ID.

I'm not sure what APIs/setup to use for this situation:
A company wants to store data projects they do for clients. Each year, the data fields are set (as a result of gov't requirements) and they won't change for any client project for that year. however, the fields required can (and usually do) change every year. So things they require this year, might not be needed the next year and new fields might be introduced.
While there are likely to be many common fields from year to year, there's no way to guarantee which ones will remain consistent. They also want to be able to do searches on the data and fields, for projects within a year and across years.
What's the best framework/API/configuration to handle this? EJB? Simple JDBC? If so, how should the database be handled? Won't it have to constantly create new fields in a table? Or is there another way to handle this?
What's the best way from a "clean architecture" standpoint?dang, I really have to start over? I finally got all this stuff working again. well, hopefully it won't be as big a pain this time since the data won't be coming from a different machine. After completing the Migration Assistant process, I had to reinput a bunch of serial numbers for apps, reinstall print and mouse drivers, etc... I've finally got the new machine up and running smoothly and now I gotta start over? Sigh.
I was hoping that either I could rename the current account after deleting the other one, or just move everything from one account to the other and then delete the 'RJM' account.
ok, so it sounds like here are the steps I need to take:
- make another full cloned backup of this current machine in Super Duper
- reboot this machine using the advice in the first post, wipe everything clean and reinstall the OS
- create a new account like 'user1' and re-do software update (which is like 2.5 gig worth of stuff) and takes like an hour even on a high speed connection
- then re-do the migration assistant process to the properly named account
- then delete the 'user1' account

If web purpose, you could convert CMYK images to sRGB. That would reduce the file size as well.
A final resort to bring down file size is:
1. Print to PostScript
2. Distill to PDF
That would bring file size down even more. About 20%, depending on the images and other contents you are using, compared with the Acrobat Pro method. If you like you could send me a personal message, so we could exchange mail addresses. I could test for you. Just provide the highres PDF without any downsampling and transparency intact. Best provide a PDF/X-4.
I will place the PDF in InDesign, print to PostScript, distill to PDF.

I need to move my library from my old computer to my new laptop (Windows 8). What's the best way to do this?
These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
If you have an iOS device that syncs with contact & calendar data on your computer you should migrate this information too. If that isn't possible create a dummy entry of each type in your new profile and iTunes should offer to merge the existing data from the device into the computer, otherwise the danger is that it will wipe the information from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data. If you don't have any Apple devices then see HT2519 - Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store.

I have just purchased an iphone 4 and it needs me to have the latest itunes on my computer. I have not upgraded by computer for some time and thought this is probably the time to do it. My computer is an imac intel with Tiger 10.4.11. I want to upgrade my Imac from tiger 10.4.11 to Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard or higher. What is the best way to do this? I'm buying a new Macbook Pro this week and am wondering what is the best way to copy over the software I have from my existing Macbook Pro to the new one? eg. Photoshop and Office etc. I no longer have the CDs.
Ya know what I'm on a brand new MBP just about 24 hours old and you know whats been working amazingly for me. I have a 27inch iMac as well and i've just connected it to my network and been dragging files and apps across the network onto my new MBP. Its really working fast and its flawless. You could always do that option, Just go into sharing options and turn them on for both Macs. Then just click and drag. Of course they have to both be on the same network for this to be possible.

Shared is what your looking at. I click on there see all my computers files and then drag the ones i want form its folder to my MBP folders. Hope that helps if your looking for a very simple way on a wireless network. -
I finally was successful in burning a CD of a slideshow I created in iPhoto, however, it is blurry. What is the best way to burn to a CD or DVD for clarity. Also, I realize if burned in iPhoto it will only be playable in iPhoto. Help! This is needed soon for a wedding reception!
What version of iPhoto are you using? How do you plan to view the slideshow at the wedding reception, on a TV screen? If so then you will need to send the slideshow to iDVD and burn a disk from there.
If you're in iPhoto 11 and the slideshow was created in the slideshow mode and not from an album, then go to the Share menu and select iDVD. That will create a QT movie of the slideshow and import it into iDVD.
In iDVD select your theme and setup the menu as you'd like. If you want the movie to begin plahying immediately when the disk is inserted into the DVD player go into the Gallery mode and drag the movie into the Autostart bin at the left.

When you're finished setting upb the iDVD project save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will allow you to check it with DVD Player before tryingto burn to disk. Mount the disk imnage by double clicking on it and launch DVD Player and play. If the movie plays as you want and everything is good you can burn to disk with Disk Utility at the slowest speed available to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatium, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

What's the best way for reading this binary file?
I've written a program that acquires data from a DAQmx card and writes it on a binary file (attached file and picture). The data that I'm acquiring comes from 8 channels, at 2.5MS/s for, at least, 5 seconds. What's the best way of reading this binary file, knowing that:
-I'll need it also on graphics (only after acquiring)
-I also need to see these values and use them later in Matlab.
I've tried the "Array to Spreadsheet String", but LabView goes out of memory (even if I don't use all of the 8 channels, but only 1).

I can read the file, but I get this (with only two channels):
So what I tried was, using a for loop, saving 250 elements in different arrays and then writing it to the .txt file. But it doesn't come right... I used 250 because that's what I got from the graphic: at each 250 points it plots the other channel.
Am I missing something here? How should I treat the information coming from the binary file, if not the way I'm doing?
(attached are the .vi files I'm using to save in the .txt format)
(EDITED. I just saw that I was dividing my graph's data in 4 just before plotting it... so It isn't 250 but 1000 elements for each channel... Still, the problem has not been solved)

Same
• One video on track 1 and the other on Video.track 2
• Resize to 25% and move one to the left and the other to the right
Diff
• I don't use the blade tool
• I use the Pen tool and change the transparency - then I get fast or slow transitions in same stroke and easy to fine-tune later if needed. (But this can be done with the Roll-tool if Blade is used - so it might be as easy)
Final
• Resize to 100% and Center
Video is done
Audio - very close to this by changing the level so that best audio will dominate
• Pen tool here too
But that's me - the Alchroma way is as good as this or may be better for some
