What is the best way to open close and pass instrument handles from labview in teststand parallel model?

I have a number of test systems that use a parallel model with labview. We have a good number of instruments(PXI).
What is the prefered method for open, closing and passing instrument handles in teststand using labview?

Hi,
No, Below is a bit from the Session Manager Help
Currently, Session Manager supports the following instrument session types:
IVI Sessions—Use an IVI session to obtain the C-based instance handle for an IVI logical or virtual instrument name. NI Session Manager does not support IVI-COM drivers at this time. When IVI-COM drivers are available, you can use an IVI session to obtain an ActiveX interface reference to an IVI-COM driver.
VXIplug&play Sessions—Use a VXIplug&play session to obtain a C-based instance handle for a VXIplug&play logical or virtual instrument name. Configure VXIplug&play names in the <VXIplug&play directory>\<Platform directory>\NISessionMgr.ini file.
VISA Sessions—Use a VISA instrument session to obtain a C-based viSession handle to a VISA resource or logical name. Configure VISA logical names in the <VXIplug&play directory>\<Platform directory>\NISessionMgr.ini file.
Custom Sessions—Use a custom session to create a data container object that shares ActiveX objects you create or other data between software components you write. Use the Attach and Get methods to attach data to and retrieve data from a session. A custom session does not initialize, close, or own an instrument handle. The data you share with a custom session does not have to be instrumentation related. You can create a custom session with any name you request.

  • What is the best way to open emails and attachments without using wifi?

For I-phone and I-pad, what is the best way to open emails and attachments without using wifi?  I turned off wifi in my settings but my boss thinks there may be another way and a better way to use something else instead of wifi.  Any help would be appreciated!  Thank you!

Thanks!  That is a very good question you post.  My boss asked me that and I am assuming that he is having issues with using wifi wherever he is at.  My boss is the kind of person that when he asks something you look into it and ask him no questions...he's the only one asking questions!  But thank you for your response I will tell him the information you told me and hopefully that will help!

  • What is the best way to open a HTTPS connection?

What is the best way to open a HTTPS connection and retrieve the content as XML? This is how most of the online API is done nowadays, how can this be done on the iphone SDK?
    Thanks

Have a look at the SeismicXML example that comes with the iPhone SDK. It uses http instead of https but it may work for you.
You can also look at the NSURLRequest and NSURLConnection classes.
    Enjoy.

  • What is the best way to manage tasks?  I have moved from outlook and only have mail and ical

What is the best way to manage tasks.  I have moved from a pc with outlook and have lost 'tasks' in that programme.  Do I have to rely on ical or can I download an app to manage business tasks?

iCal does have reminders but its implementation of tasks is pretty wimpy. There are a number of programs that are better geared to the job. I was a level 4 procrastinator until I discovered Getting Things Done and for me Things is perfect. It lets me handle projects which are dependent upon multiple tasks in a no-nonsense easy fashion. Much less expensive and really not much more than a list maker is Wunderlist. Thankfully there's a ton of shareware offerings - check out MacUpdate.com and see what works for you.

With supervised ipads, what is the best way to transfer photos and videos to the PC? Wireless transfer is not an option in our circumstances.

There are only two ways of transfering things on the iPad.
      - via WiFi
      - via usb cable
From what I have read, you need to connect to iTunes on the supervising PC.

  • HT1473 What is the best way to covert Cassettes and LPs to CD so it will be recognized on iTunes?

What is the best way to convert cassettes and records to digital so it can be recognized on iTunes?

I think hhgttg27 has made a couple of very good points. Perhaps it's worth expanding the discussion.
    hhgttg27 wrote:
I'd be tempted to say that unless you already have audiophile equipment and/or the LPs and tapes involved are not available in digital format you'd spend a lot less time and get better results just re-buying the music on CD or in a downloadable format.  Trying to deal with defects in the source (particularly the pops and clicks that are present in a lot of LPs) can be incredibly time consuming, and any of the tools that claim to clean up such sources automatically generally do so to the detriment of the overall audio quality.
I have made these conversions myself in the past, and I can confirm, it is a very time consuming process. I usually clean my audio of the clicks and pops manually, which makes the process even longer. As also stated, if the music is available in digital form, it is probably easier to simply buy the digital file. Consider the benefits:
Since you are creating digital files, ignore the cost of a CD and consider the cost of ready made digital files. Digital albums usually cost less than a CD, and if you don't want a complete album, it's possible (with most albums) to buy only the songs you want, which reduces unnecessary costs
It will be much less work. (In many countries, the cost of one digital version of a song is probably equivalent to about six minutes of paid employment. When I first started creating digital versions of my vinyl, it was taking me up to four-and-a-half hours to turn one album {of 60 minutes} into digital files. So to create a decent quality file of a four minute song could take me 10 minutes or longer. I could probably do it in less time now, but I'm experienced.)
Higher Bit Rate songs are available for some music, if 256Kbps (as supplied by iTunes and Amazon, among others) isn't good enough for you
The time taken to create a decent digital version of a song includes:
The time to record it (real time, so a four minute song takes four minutes)
Editing the start and finish times, so that you have a clean start and finish to the song
Editing out faults, such as clicks and pops (this is probably the most time consuming task)
    Typing in the song information
    song title
    album title
    artist
    track number
    genre
    year
extra information for compilation (various artist) albums
Saving the file - giving it a filename
Finding the artwork for the song/album and adding that to the digital file

DO NOT delete files in your Home Folder -> Library tree as there are things like your iPhone backups, your email messages, your application preferences, etc...
DO NOT delete files outside your home folder, as you may end up deleting something essential to Mac OS X, and turn your Mac into an expensive “Door Stop”.
I will point out that you will find some very large files in private -> var -> vm (these are the Mac OS X virtual memory paging files (swapfiles) and where Mac OS X stores the copy of RAM when your Mac is put to sleep).  The swapfiles get deleted on reboot, and the sleep image is just going to be created again when you put your Mac to sleep.
If you think you have found something to delete outside your home folder, it would be best to ask first before deleting.  There are many examples of people deleting files outside their home folder, or renaming files, or changing the ownership or permissions of files, and then their Mac stops running.  Do not be one of those people.  Ask first.
PS.  Please do not use ALL CAPS for your entire messages.  In the world of text messages, forums, etc... ALL CAPS is shouting, and we haven't done anything that annoying yet

  • What's the best way to delete 2.4 million of records from table?

We are having two tables one is production one and another is temp table which data we want to insert into production table. temp table having 2.5 million of records and on the other side production table is having billions of records. the thing which we want to do just simple delete already existed records from production table and then insert the remaining records from temp to production table.
Can anyone guide what's the best way to do this?
    Thanks,
    Waheed.

If you really just want to insert the records and don't want to update the matching ones and you're already on 10g you could use the "DML error logging" facility of the INSERT command, which would log all failed records but succeeds for the remaining ones.
You can create a suitable exception table using the DBMS_ERRLOG.CREATE_ERROR_LOG procedure and then use the "LOG ERRORS INTO" clause of the INSERT command. Note that you can't use the "direct-path" insert mode (APPEND hint) if you expect to encounter UNIQUE CONSTRAINT violations, because this can't be logged and cause the direct-path insert to fail. Since this is a "live" table you probably don't want to use the direct-path insert anyway.
See the manuals for more information: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14200/statements_9014.htm#BGBEIACB
    Sample taken from 10g manuals:
CREATE TABLE raises (emp_id NUMBER, sal NUMBER
       CONSTRAINT check_sal CHECK(sal > 8000));
    EXECUTE DBMS_ERRLOG.CREATE_ERROR_LOG('raises', 'errlog');
    INSERT INTO raises
       SELECT employee_id, salary*1.1 FROM employees
       WHERE commission_pct > .2
       LOG ERRORS INTO errlog ('my_bad') REJECT LIMIT 10;
    SELECT ORA_ERR_MESG$, ORA_ERR_TAG$, emp_id, sal FROM errlog;
    ORA_ERR_MESG$               ORA_ERR_TAG$         EMP_ID SAL
    ORA-02290: check constraint my_bad               161    7700
(HR.SYS_C004266) violatedIf the number of rows in the temp table is not too large and you have a suitable index on the large table for the lookup you could also try to use a NOT EXISTS clause in the insert command:
    INSERT INTO <large_table>
    SELECT ...
    FROM TEMP A
    WHERE NOT EXISTS (
    SELECT NULL
    FROM <large_table> B
    WHERE B.<lookup> = A.<key>
);But you need to check the execution plan, because a hash join using a full table scan on the <large_table> is probably something you want to avoid.

  • What is the best way to make video and audio the same lengths for posting on Web?

YouTube recommends doing this to avoid sync problems. Maybe it will also make my videos run more smoothly. I'm talking here about random pauses I see in my movies on YouTube, not the uniform stuttering problem which I pretty much solved by redoing the movie at 30 fps instead of 24 fps. (Original is 18 fps Super 8 movie film.)
Anyway, there is no sound during my titles. The soundtrack starts about 17 seconds in, and ends when the ending titles begin. So what's the best way to add silent audio? The best I can figure is to take some existing sound, put it in where the titles are, and turn the volume down to zero. Seems real workaround-ish, so to speak, to me. It seems to work. I even cranked it up on headphones to make sure there was no residual noice. But I'm curious if there's a better way? No biggie if not.
    Thanks.

I should have included the following:
1.) Why can't I make a silent project in GarageBand? I have to instead find a project with a long enough song, make an "iLife preview" of it (see (2) below), copy it from the iMovie Music and Sound Effects browser to the end of the movie, and then open the audio panel and turn the volume to zero. And all this so that video websites don't get confused by a soundtrack that starts in mid-movie.
2.) Why do I have to "render" them by the following process: Double-click a song in the iMovie Music and Sound Effects browser. You get a dialog box saying "The project "The Great Race" cannot be used because it was not prepared with an iLife preview. Would you like to open "The Great Race" in GB so you can save it with an iLife preview?" What I don't understand is why this new thing was introduced and why I have to do it via iMovie.

  • Upgrading to SSD, what is the best way to clean install and transfer my files over?

I am upgrading to an SSD and I would like to start clean by doing a fresh installation of Yosemite on the new drive. However, I still want all of my personal files from my current hard drive, like my music, music libraries, photos, and Home folder, transferred over to the new drive. What is the best way of doing this?
I have Time Machine and a Time Capsule. Could I simply restore a Time Machine backup, or will that defeat the purpose of doing a clean install?
Should I just back up the home folder and transfer the home folder onto an external drive, then drag the home folder to my new drive? Will that save my iTunes playlists and music?
I don't need to transfer apps over so I'm not worried about that. Just my documents, files, pictures, music.

How to replace or upgrade a drive in a laptop
Step One: Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot From An OS X Installer Disc
    1. Insert OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive.
      2. Restart the computer.
      3. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the "C" key.
      4. Release the key when the spinning gear below the dark gray Apple
          logo appears.
      5. Wait for installer to finish loading.
    Boot From a Recovery HD:
      1. Restart the computer.
      2. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the
"COMMAND" and the "R" keys together.
      3. Release the keys when the Utilities Menu appears.
After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger, Leopard, Snow Leopard and later.)
For Lion or later select Disk Utility from the Utilities Main Menu.
After Disk Utility loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the Disk Utility status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If Disk Utility reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Step Two: Remove the old drive and install the new drive.  Place the old drive in an external USB enclosure.  You can buy one at OWC who is also a good vendor for drives.
Step Three: Boot from the external drive.  Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager appears.  Select the icon for the Recovery HD on the external drive, then click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Step Four: New Hard Drive Preparation
      1. Open Disk Utility from the Utility Main Menu, then click on the Continue button.
      2. After Disk Utility loads select your new hard drive (this is the entry with the
mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of
the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive
is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  Otherwise, click on the
Partition tab in the Disk Utility main window.
      3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from
the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended
(Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to
GUID  then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition/Apply button and
wait until the process has completed.
      4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the
drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main
          window.
      5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the
Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to
          return to the Erase window.
      6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several
hours depending upon the drive size.
Step Five: Clone the old drive to the new drive
      1. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
      2. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
      3. Check the box labeled Erase destination.
      4. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the
          Destination entry field.
      5. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the
          Source entry field.
      7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the new internal drive. Source means the old external drive.
Step Six: Open the Startup Disk preferences and select the new internal volume.  Click on the Restart button.  You should boot from the new drive.  Eject the external drive and disconnect it from the computer.

  • What's the best way to sync video and sound?

If I'm going to make a music video with performance shots (lip-syncing) interspersed with story-line shots, what's the best way to line them up. I mean, I start with some video shot from a car while the song is playing, then transition to a shot of me singing. Say I get the singing clip lined up perfect, then when I add the transition, isn't that going to mess with the timing? And of course, I'll be doing this multiple times throughout the video. Say I get the first one right, then add some more storyline video and another performance clip and I lock that (second) clip to the audio. Isn't that going to shift my first performance clip when I add a transition? Am I making sense?

First look at all your material ..'review' it.
As you say so rightly: "..then when I add the transition, isn't that going to mess with the timing?.." ..yes; but only if you haven't allowed for the length of each transition when you first line up your clips.
So watch your footage, think where you want to cut it, and then immediately think "what kind of transition there, and for how long?" ..Imagine it, in your head, so if you think "that would work best with a quick two-thirds of a second dissolve" jot down that you want to leave an extra two-thirds of a second at the start of the clip which you want to transition into.
In the US of A, at 30 frames per second of NTSC video, two-thirds of a second is 20 frames. (..The frame counter gets up to 0:29 and then changes to 1:00, because the 30th frame changes it over to the next second..)
In Europe the frame rate is 25 per second - so after 0:24 comes 1:00 - so two-thirds of a second is about 0:16.
So when you start to cut your video clips, if you're going to have a two-thirds of a second dissolve between your first two, you'll need to leave an extra 20 (NTSC) or 16 (PAL) frames at the start of your second clip, before the action you want begins onscreen, so that those frames will be "eaten away" in the dissolve between the end of the previous clip and the start of the clip which follows it.
If you definitely want to see the last few frames of "lip-sync" - for some reason - of the first (outgoing) clip, then leave the extra frames on the end of that clip, instead of at the start of the following clip, but it usually works best to ensure that the follow-on clip starts with those extra "sacrificial" frames.
If you want to use any embedded audio that's in the video clips - and you're not simply matching up the video to external sound (..such as an iTunes track or your own material which you're pre-recorded..) then be sure to Extract the audio from your clips as soon as you've cut them, and before you apply any transitions. This keeps their audio safely "marooned" on an audio track, where you can edit it separately, and then match it to the edited video.
So prepare all your video first, and cut it to have excess "tops and tails" which you can eat away during the transitions. (The only transition which doesn't eat away material is iMovie's "Overlap", which freezes the outgoing clip, and dissolves the incoming clip into that freeze-frame. But that - in my opinion -doesn't look to good with music videos, because it freezes the flow of the video, and makes it seem too pointlessly 'jerky'.)

  • What is the best way to implement Spiceworks and get started?

Yes this is the most basic question of all, how do you use it?I did search for some articles but there are tutorials that are 6 years old, or maybe a year or two old. I want to make sure I'm up to date on best practice.I've got a network of 8 PCs and 6 laptops or so as well as phones and tablets (if SW cares).I've got this community user which I created long ago when I first tried to test SW.My question is, what is the best way to get SW going? I mean, do I create a new user that is specific to the company? Is the community user different from the SW admin user? I want to separate my community user (which is me personally) from any local business/network implementation of SW.Do I need a server to run this or is something run on each workstation? Does each computer need something done to it so SW can work right?Basically I just need to...
This topic first appeared in the Spiceworks Community

In Settings tap on Reset at the bottom then tap on Erase all Content and Settings. This returns it to the condition of being "new."

  • What is the best way to sync contacts and calendars

    Advice please
I am pulling my hair out trying to determine the best way to sync my work computer using outlook and exchange, my iphone and my mac at home.
In an ideal world I want to have two calendars that is home and work, two sets of contacts that is home and work. And all appear on on outlook, iphone and my mac at home
I also have Linkedin Contacts (about 690).They appear to be pulled in separately into outlook via the LinkedIn Addin.
At the moment I have certain contacts who appear three times on my iphone, and its not obvious which database they are coming from.
I accept you cannot sync outlook secondary calendars to google, therefore what is the best way to set this all up.
Any advice would be very welcome.

The only way to do that is to use Exchange server.

  • What is the best way update similar OID and OAM LDAP attributes via OIM?

Our environment uses OIM provisioning to an OID LDAP which is used by OAM.
For legacy purposes, we need to populate both the Oracle "orcl*" attributes and OAM "ob*" in cases where they have the same or similar usage.
Example: When a user is disabled in OIM we need to set orclisenabled="false" and obUserAccountControl="DEACTIVATED" in OID
What is the best way to accomplish this in OIM? My initial thought was to write a custom adapter, similar to the out-of-the-box OID Modify User adapter, which supports modifying multiple attributes.
    Is there a better way?

You can create two tasks which will modify two attributes of OID.
On Disable user task, call task1 and on Success of task1, call Task2 (using Task to Generate Feature).
You can make use of OOTB connector only.

  • What is the best way to back-up and load Hi-8 video onto my i-Mac so I can edit it on i-movie? A camera store will convert it to DVD for $32/120min.ll

What is the best way to back-up my Hi-8 video tapes and then load them onto my i-Mac so I can edit them on i-movie? A camera store will convert them to DVD for $32/120min. Will I lose a lot of quality that way?

Quality is not much of an issue with Hi8, the main issue is age of the tapes.  The older the tapes, the more degraded the images are going to be.  Regardless of how you transfer the video, the quality is going to be pretty much the same.
The "best" way depends on how valuable the images are to you and how many tapes you have.  I did a similar project last winter with a collection of 14 Hi8 tapes that dated from 1994 to 2002.  I bought a converter bridge (Canopus), maximum RAM for my Mac, and a huge hard drive.  I also decided to get Final Cut Express because it had more ability to enhance the pictures after downloading them.  I am very happy with the results, but it cost me nearly $1200 for the upgrades, equipment, and software.
The only other thing to consider is to be sure that if you go with an outside vendor (like the Camera Store) that the files they provide for you will be in a format that iMovie can recognize.
    Good luck.
