What is the best way to PDF an entire website

I have Adobe Acrobat XI.  I tried to create a PDF of an entire website, but after spending almost a day, the program crashed at around 14,000 pages.  There were also some pages that it seemed to capture more than once.  However, the file is corrupt, so I can't open it.
I am trying to PDF an entire blog.  I could use another program, such as HTTRACK or programs like it, however, I want the pages PDFed.
Is there any way that in running the PDF entire website feature that it splits each separate page into a separate PDF?  This way I could end up with a folder of each page all separately PDFed and should anything crash, I don't lose everything.
Another option?
I am using a Mac OS X 10.9.4, Intel Core i7, with 16 DDR3 ram, with plenty of hard drive space.

Thanks.  However, I did restrict to the same path.  As to the number of levels down, wouldn't I want the maximum as I want the entire blog.  Blogs have this "older stories" link at the end of the page which leads to the older stories.  I want to get all articles on the site.
If I can't use the entire site feature, not automatically have each URL as a different PDF, is there another solution? Rather than doing it by hand?

  • What is the best way to port a entire website?

I need to elevate my test site to the production site...  Can anyone tell me if there is an "easy way to just copy the site from one remote ftp to another ftp w/ dreamweaver?
This would include any subdirectories, jquery, images, PHP, etc... at one time.  Can I just select the root and have it copy everything underneath over?
What is the best practice for transferring the new site?  Bring down the old site and erase from the production server?  If I leave the old site live like the client wants I could run into conflicts and then need to go back and delete any remnants of the old site (Which would be a major hassle).
    Thanks!

If you have root access (dedicated,VPS, etc) or some way to host multiple sites on the same server I'd upload the new site right along side the old site and then point the domain to the new folder/account.  If you don't have that access, first thing I would do is setup a catch-all redirect to push everything at first to a construction page, and then afterwards to the new homepage in case paths have changed with the new site.  Something like the following in htaccess will do the trick:
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !=/index.php
    RewriteRule .* /index.php
And I will second what Ken said about a 3rd party FTP client.  Personally I use Transmit as an alternative FTP client and would highly recommend them for a stand-alone client.

What is the best way to share an entire photo folder with lots of photos from iPhoto '09 with both Mac and PC Users?
I got over a 100 photos in just 1 of my photo folders.
I really don't want to have to email these photos individually...
There's gotta be an easier way to share an entire photo folder...

    Awesome, thx for clarifying it

  • Hello-i have an i-mac; on the bookmark bar it has sites like news, google maps, etc.  Can i add sites to that bar like craigslist or aol mail?  what is the best way to go to  frequent websites?

what is the best way to mark a frequent website other than a bookmark?

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. If you click the book icon on the left end of the bookmarks bar you can manage all of your bookmarks. Bookmarks can be added individually to the bar (the shorter the name the more room for bookmarks) or you can create folders of bookmarks that can be accessed from the bookmarks bar.

  • What's the best way to pack a small website for the iPad?

I have my little personal archive in HTML and images and a few audio & video clips. Let's say it is 10GB. I want to pack it into an App for offline viewing. Any suggestions? I'm will to do a lot of glue translation hacking to make something good.
Or is there and glue format that can reference iPhoto images from a different app?
    Thanx for any input!  -jch

If you're planning on doing some programming as part of that packing, then I'd head over to the developer forums with this question.  (If you're creating an app for iOS, then you have that access.)  Another option is one of the iOS-related mailing lists (maybe Cocoa-Dev).   And yes, APIs for accessing photos are available.
A somewhat left-field option is the iBook Author tool.
Or are you looking for an app that does this?

  • I am trying to make a pdf of a file and I need to get the file size to be no bigger than 10MB. What is the best way to do this

I am trying to make a pdf of a file and I need to get the file size to be no bigger than 10MB. Even when I save it, the image quality at minimum the file size is 10.9 MB. What is the best way to do this

@Barbara – What purpose is that PDF for? Print? Web?
If web purpose, you could convert CMYK images to sRGB. That would reduce the file size as well.
A final resort to bring down file size is:
    1. Print to PostScript
    2. Distill to PDF
That would bring file size down even more. About 20%, depending on the images and other contents you are using, compared with the Acrobat Pro method. If you like you could send me a personal message, so we could exchange mail addresses. I could test for you. Just provide the highres PDF without any downsampling and transparency intact. Best provide a PDF/X-4.
I will place the PDF in InDesign, print to PostScript, distill to PDF.

  • In Acrobat Professional 8, what is the best way to insert/combine multiple pdf's together in a large

In Acrobat Professional 8, what is the best way to insert/combine multiple pdf's together in a large volume?
We have 300 pdf reports and need to insert a 2 page cover page infront of each report. Not sure if Batch processing is best???
    Thanks for any tips.

Probably each cover page is different too. I would probably just bite the bullet and do each individually. I would create the 2 cover pages in WORD or other word processor and print to cover.pdf. Then open a PDF and Pages>Insert Pages or the cover.pdf to the front of the open PDF and save as to the current PDF. Then repeat 299 times. Each time you would make the appropriate change to the DOC file and print a new cover.pdf file (you might want to turn off open in Acrobat for this processing in the printer properties to save time). Probably a good idea to keep a list of the files to check off what has been done (you can generate a list in DOS by Start>cmd, change the directory to your location [cd path], and do "dir >>list.txt". That will give you a list to use.). There may be an easier way, but by the time you get it figured out you might be done this way.

  • What's the best way to output a high quality ready to send to the printer PDF?

I'm designing a photo book for a friend and we're having output issues. We're working with a professional printer but for some reason our prints keep coming out soft or pixelated. The images are 300 dpi and formatted correctly for an InDesign document so the issue is likely output.
What's the best way to output the HIGHEST quality PDF you can out of InDesign? Everyone seems to have different answers.
    Thanks in advance!

    Check a couple things.
One would be for broken links. If there are broken links then ID will use the preview image instead of the linked image.
Another would be to select an image that prints poorly in the Links Panel and check the effective resolution. If it is below your stated 300 dpi then the image has been enlarged greater than 100%.
Then just use the PDF/X-4 profile for your PDF.

  • What's the best way to save an 8.5 x 11 image for use as a page background in a PDF?

What's the best way to save an 8.5 x 11 image for use as a page background in a PDF? My goal is to have a relatively small final .pdf file size that includes numerous pages with full 8.5 x 11 images as backgrounds in the document. If I save at 8.5 x 11 and 72dpi (example), the image is not 8.5 x 11, and the quality is not good enough. I need help with size, dpi, and file format to save as before I place it in InDesign and then save as a .pdf.
    Thanks,
    Jim

Do exactly what I said then.  Create the InDesign document of the required dimension, and chose whether it will be high quality print, or Interactive PDF.  It really doesn't mater what format you bring the image into that document.  It can be JPG, PNG, but I usually use native Photoshop PSD.  The image does have to be of high enough resolution, but it can be many times bigger than iis required for the final export.  (InDesign does not import the image, but rather references it on your hard drive.)
When you have placed your text and finished your page, then export it to PDF, but go through the tabs chosing suitable settings.  If the image needs to be downsized, InDesign will do that at this stage while building the PDF.
If you can tell us how this presentation will be made (Projector, overhead projector, printed page etc. or just emailed to the end users) we can help you more with the final output settings.

  • What is the best way to send multiple pdf files to my ipad

what is the best way or app to send multiple pdf files to my ipad, so that I can then combine them into one folder

I have the app Readdle Docs. It allows you to move PDF files to your device and to move them around on your device. Might check it out. ( I think there's an iPad version of the app, but I have the iPhone version and it works, just not as pretty)
THere's also Goodreader, but I don't have experience with it to know if it has folder abilities.

  • What's the best way to back up laptop?

    Hi all,
This is probably a dumb question, but I'm going to ask it anyway. What's the best way to back up a laptop: hooking up a hard drive manually, or via WiFi?
In the past, I've just hooked up a hard drive to my MacBook Pro, and manually synced it with Time Machine. But, of course, sometimes I'm busy and I don't get around to doing that as faithfully as I should. So, I'm thinking of hooking up a hard drive to my AirPort so that my laptop will automatically sync over WiFi whenever I'm home.
Before I do that, however, two questions:
    1) Is that easier to do than the way I'm currently backing up? Or are there problems with that route that I'm not foreseeing right now? How do you all back up your laptops?
    2) I also have a Mac Pro on my network at home. Will I have a problem with my Mac Pro seeing the WiFi "Time Machine" hard drive and wanting to back up to it, rather than the Time Machine hard drive I already have physically hooked up to it?
    Thanks for your advice!

learn about backups VS. archives, and data protection:
Methodology to protect your data. Backups vs. Archives. Long-term data protection
    excerpt:
Four words: "compartmentalized autonomous redundancy of data" or C.A.R.D. What this means regarding your data is “centralize it, isolate it, and multiply it”. This easy acronym to remember about how to approach your data is a great first approach to keep in mind.
Compartmentalized: separating out your data from your system files, centralizing all static and active files into a location or two to make backups, and archived data easier to update and locate. Centralizing your data collection is the primary hazard to overcome for what usually is the case of data that is scattered everywhere throughout your internal hard drive.
Autonomous: Isolation of data from changes, theft, decentralizing data to safes, fire boxes, offsite and online locations. Importantly ‘freezing’ data onto independent storage media for protection and from alterations, such as DVDs, hard drives, and online encrypted files, or .DMG created files of static data collections.
Redundancy: making copies of all autonomous isolated data such that data is decentralized not only in place and in media storage type (DVD, HD, online) for safety and protection as a failsafe, but each aspect of that failsafe has at the very least two redundant copies.
Data: all files made, saved, created, modified or working on. Important pictures, documents, videos, PDF, financial, personal. Any data large or small which you would not dare lose, which is private, important, hard or impossible to recreate, or most importantly, would take tremendous time to regenerate. Essentially anything important to you, your company, your loved ones (will, medical records, financial information, etc.), friends or otherwise.
