I have created an image with multiple layers and many of the
layers are the text I would like to use as links. When I sliced up
the image using layer based slices, the end result was a degraded
image.

Where did you get this page? It is a melange of ImageReady,

knows what else, loaded with invalid usages, and other
oddities....
Anyhow, the first link shows me no slice marks - what am I
looking for
there?
Normally, one would use an image map (use DW's F1 help to
look for
"hotspot") to do something like this.

What is the best way to put various songs into one album?

I have been adding album information and album artwork within iTunes to take advantage of cover flow, but i have a lot of songs in my music library that are "stand alone" songs - it is the only song from that artist. I want to put all of these songs together in one album, so all of my miscellaneous rock songs will be put into a Rock Music album or file. I want to do this to eliminate all of the grey boxes within cover flow for all of these songs. When i give the files all the same album name (Rock Music) and album artist (Various Artists) it still does not put them all together within iTunes. It will do it for some, but not all.

Try marking all the tracks as part of a compilation. Click on the first track in your list, hold down the shift key and click on the last. Right click anywhere in the selection and choose Get Info, when you are asked if you want to edit multiple items say yes. Change compilation at the bottom of the window to Yes.

APDivs will kill your design unless you fully understand the css behind the scenes and plan accordingly. They really are completely unnecessary in the vast majority of situations.
An easy way to add "web text over an image" would be to use the background-image attribute in css for a standard <div> tag, then just add the text within that same <div>.
Something like this in the css (if you are using a 300x300 pixel image)...

     width:300px;
     height:300px;
And then this in the html...
<div id="yourdiv">Your text here</div>
You would then position the <div> using css margins, floats and padding. Using position:absolute (APDivs) is typically something that will blow your design to pieces if the viewer changes their browser settings.

I want to put my movie on a DVD and show it on the TV. What is the best way to do this?

Yes, you can put more than one movie on a DVD, as long as the total length of both together is not over 2hrs for single-layer DVDs.
I know what you mean about it taking so long for the burning....my DVDs are usually just close to 2hrs, so taking 12-14hrs to burn is not unusual for me. I just do it overnight, and it is finished in the morning. I 'save to disc image' first, and then do the burning from Disk Utility.
Trust me, I've tried everything I can think of to be able to.
I am surprised that you cannot get your movies exported back to DV tapes with your camcorder. I looked up its specs, and it shows it has Firewire port, so you should be able to export. I would pursue this further....
Have you tried saving your movies as QuickTime Full-Quality and then importing that into a new iMovie and exporting that? You will need to have more free space to copy the movie, but once you have made the QT movie, you can delete the original one, and you can delete the QT one after the export. Also, it may take a LOOOONNNGGG time for the compression/process necessary to create the QT movie, and somewhat long for the import into iMovie, but I have found that iMovies that would not export to my camcorder in their original form exported easily after I made the QT one.

The best luck I had with item 2 was with a boolean custom control with an imported image. However, this control does not have a programmatic method for importing an image, so the image had to be manually cut&pasted into the custom control.

If the image is static, it's possible. You can drop a metafile on the front
panel, and use Panel>Decorations> to get a reference to the image. Resize it
as desired.
Changing the image (e.g. from file) is not possible this way, but you can
put multiple images on the screen and change the visibility...
If you want to make a picture viewer, I'd consider an activex control (this
way you can load several picture formats without any programming).

I know a little Flash, a little Dreamweaver, a little PHP,
pretty much a little of everything. I'm an artist and would like to
publish a slideshow, which I would update often, smack on the front
of my personal website. What is the easiest, most painless, least
complicated, and most easy to update way to do it? And why? I've
found a lot of tutorials and posts on this, but which do you think,
as a matter of opinion, would be the best?

What's The Best Way to Assign Keywords to Multiple Images?

I'm finally starting to organize my photos with keywords, but something about the way it works in LR2 is driving me batty.
I came back from a concert Saturday night with over 1,000 photos (double coverage by me and my wife). I'm trying to use keywords to designate the 14 different performers who appeared on the stage at different times during the evening, when there could be anywhere from 1 to 7 performers on the stage at the same time.
Now, it seems to me the easiest way to assign these keywords would be:
1) select a series of photos in which one or more performers appear
2) in either the "keyword suggestions" or "keyword set" panel, click on the keyword "buttons" I've already created from the performers names.
But this doesn't always work. I note that when I highlight a number of photos, ONE is more brightly highlighted than the others, and sometimes, that's the ONLY one that gets the keywords I just clicked on. Apparently, that one image is more "selected" than the others in the series I've highlighted.
It would not be quite so infuriating if that approach didn't work at all, but the oddity seems to be that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, and I don't know what I'm doing different when it does or doesn't work.
What does work universally is to to the "Keyword List" panel and type in the name I need, and then right click when the name comes up and select "add keyword to selected photos." That seems to work every time.
Or, I can type "Click here to add keywords," type in the name I need, and hit return twice. That assigns the keyword to all the selected images. But then I have to do it again for every performer that appears in that series of frames.
Like I say, the easiest scenario would be the 1-2 step I outlined above, but I cant seem to get that to work all the time.
Anybody know the trick to getting that 1-2 scenario to work every time?

Oh, wow. I have exactly the same problem of LR not assigning keywords to all my selected images.
I will try the grid, select the grid and not the filmstrip, and look for the current image metadata checkbox as well.
BTW, Adobe told me to delete the preferences file, which I did.
They told me to optomize the catalog, which I did.
And, lastly they told me to create a new catalog and import all the data from my old catalog, which I did not do.
Stand by ...
Wow, that is it. You folks solved my problem.
Library Mode, select in the grid OR filmstrip (yep-but harder to see in the filmstrip anyway),
COULD NOT FIND-look for the current image metadata checkbox as well.

What is the best way to put LabVIEW DSC data into an Oracle database?

I have been collecting data using LabVIEW DSC 7.0 for several years and have always accessed the data from the Citadel database via the Historical Data Viewer. I would now like to begin putting this data into an Oracle database. My company stores all their data in Oracle and it would provide me all the benefits of their existing infrastructure such as automated backups, data mining tools, etc.
My initial thought is to use "Read Trace.vi" in LabVIEW to pull historical data from the citadel database at regular intervals (e.g. 1 minute) and insert this data into Oracle via ODBC. In this way, I do not need to track the value changes in order to know when to write to Oracle. I also considered replicating the citadel database using some other method, but I recall that the tables used by citadel are somewhat complicated. I only need a simple table with columns for channel, timestamp, and data. The "Read Trace.vi" will provide me data in this format.
I do not need to update the Oracle database in real time, a few minute delay is acceptable. If anyone has a better idea or additional insight please let me know. Thanks.

In terms of connectivity, you want to use ADO, not ODBC. Beyond that, it all depends on the structure of the data and what you are going to want to do with it. This is a very big question that you need to be getting some in-depth assistance.

Hi there, as an Xmas present for the grandparents, we are compiling a bunch of movies of our daughter in various stages of her 3 years thus far, and we are hoping to put them on a DVD so that they can watch it on their DVD player / television. We were thinking of just burning them as data files to a CD so that they could see them on their computer, but were hoping that we could find a way to burn them onto a DVD so that they could watch it on their television instead!
Will iDVD do the trick? We have an iMac 21.5" and the movies are all from our Panasonic point and shoot digital camera...

What is the best way to put PDF file to iBook

I've just got iPad 2 as my wedding's gift last two weeks which i have to admit that I'm very very into it.(I currently got iPhone 3G and computer knowledge)
But the problems is my computer's hdd was full of data and I can't manage to delete some of them now so, it's impossible to put more books in my iTune and sync to iPad as it's a regular way.
Any one have any suggestion to put the PDF directly to iPad without sync with iTune with the following conditions.
1. No jailbreak
2. No paid apps (Pay enough this month)
3. The file size was quite large (Over 100 Mb each)
4. Inter/Local net enabled

Where are the PDFs ? If they are already on your computer then you can add them to iTunes without a separate copy being created in the iTunes media directory - if you make sure that 'Copy File To iTunes Media Folder When Adding To Library' is unticked on the Advanced tab in Edit > Preferences then when you add them to iTunes it shouldn't create it's own copy, and should point to their current location instead. You should then be able to sync them as normal.
If they are on websites then you should be able to open them in Safari and then use 'open in' to copy them to iBooks. You can also email them to yourself as attachments and then use 'open in' in the Mail app.
There are also apps such as PDF Reader Lite iPad Edition (which is free) which you can use to transfer PDFs to your iPad via your wifi network (or via the file sharing section in iTunes). When the PDFs are then in that app on the iPad you can then copy them from there into iBooks.
