What is the best way to split large blocks of text into smaller blocks?

Hello, I have several pages with 2,000 word articles of text. As you can imagine these pages are not terribly interesting design-wise, something I plan to change.
The first thing I need to do is split up these blocks of text into much smaller blocks so that they can easily be moved around and independently manipulated. What's the quickest way to do this in Muse?

You can create different text frames and copy the text, which if you wish you can group them together which will help in moving them around on page.
Thanks,
Sanjit

  • What is the Best way to move large mailboxes between datacenters?

What is the Best way to move large mailboxes between datacenters?

    Hi,
Are you asking with regards to on-premises Exchange? With Microsoft Online SaaS services (aka Exchange Online) there is no control and no need to control which data center a mailbox resides in.
With regard to on-premises Exchange, you have two choices: you can move it over the WAN in which case you would either do a native mailbox move (assuming you have Exchange 2010 or later you can suspend the move after the copy so you can control the
time of the cutover) or create a database copy in the second data center and once the database copies have synchronized change the active copy.
The other choice is to move is out of band which would usually involve an offline seed of the database (you could conceivably move via PST file but that would disrupt access to the mailbox and is not really the 'best way').
In general, Exchange on-premises questions are best asked on the Exchange forum: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/home?category=exchangeserver

  • What is the best way to import pictures from Lightroom 5 into FCP X

What is the  best way to transfer pictures from Lightroom 5 into Final Cut Pro X?

There is no one best way.  If, for instance, you want to be able to zoom into the picture with a Ken Burns effect then you may want to save out a very high res version that will be larger than your video resolution. Just use Lightroom to export a jpg file wherever you want it. You could export it into the Events folder and then choose not to copy it when you import it within FCPx. You could import the picture into iPhoto and then access it directly from within FCPx. Those are two simple, "regular" ways to get it into FCPx but if you are not going to Ken Burns the image by zooming into it and such you will want to crop it in Lightroom to the same size you will be using ie if you are making 720HD video then crop the image to that size and proportion before you export it from Lightroom.

  • What is the best way of converting a Top Level VI into a 'sub vi' - or function ( without duplicating programming)

    Hi,
General question here about design architecture, which i keep running into, but haven't found a really good solution.  If i write a 'Top Level VI' to do something, what is the best way of converting it into a subVI - which is call-able from other VIs, while still allowing the top level VI to have synchronised feedback/indicator updates.
I guess the point is that when something is a top level VI you write gui logic about what happens when someone clicks buttons or whatever - which you don't want in the 'sub vi' version.
I did at one point try having a hidden boolean button that was an input to the subVI which would let the VI know if it was supposed to be doing the front panel stuff - or simply running as a subVI.  This isn't really ideal though - since it would be better to be able to hive off the grizzly useful stuff from the fluffy - front panel updating stuff - having them together makes the VIs rather untidy.  More annoyingly though, if you have the front panel version of it running - say waiting for you to hit 'go', it breaks all the other VIs that use it as a sub vi - since they can't compile when a sub vi is already running.
Another possibility that i tried was to basically duplicate the vi so that there was a backend part, and a front end part - and when i click 'go' the backend part is called as a sub vi.  The problem with this is that it really limits the interface that the user gets - since none of the controls on the front panel update with the results untill the sub vi is over.  I guess again i could solve this by passing references to some of the controls to update them in the subvi - but this doesn't really seem like the ideal situation if the subvi is called by something else without the same types of controls etc.
One final idea i had was to essentially paste all the controls in the VI into a global variable file, and make the sub vi update them, and the front panel VI read from them.  This seems to 'work' - although clearly it is a work around rather than a proper solution - since i spend loads of time worrying about how i update cluster variables in the global - reading and writing.
Does anyone have any guidance on what they do to solve this problem?
    JP

You could run a subvis in a Subpanel on your top level.  Lets you see the current data while the subvi is running.

  • What is the best way to import photos from iPhoto 9 into PSE 11?

I just installed PSE 11 and I would like to move the pictures from my iPhoto 9 Library in to PSE 11.
What is the best way to accomplish this as far as accuracy of data?
    Thank you!
    Len

There is a direct option in Organizer which lets you import from iPhoto. This is under Import dropdown menu in left panel.
If you are importing from iPhoto'09, your Tags, Albums Events, captions, star rating would also get imported apart from your media. This works differently for iPhoto'011 where you can get only the media to the Organizer,
Just a couple of things to know:
    1. If in iPhoto preferences, you have chosen to create copies of your photos in iPhoto library and your library hence refers to the media store inside the library package, then on importing from iPhoto, Organizer would create copies of all those media under your pictures folder. That means, it would not corrupt your iPhoto package or modify it in any way.
    2. However, if in iPhoto, you are organizing by using references to original location on your Hard drive i.e. you are not creating copies of media in iPhoto library then on importing from iPhoto to Organizer, the Organizer would also use the same references and would not create copies of the media.
    Hope that helps!

  • What is the best way to transfer photos currently in Shutterfly into iPhoto?

    Hi!
What is the best way (as far as highest quality and most efficient) to transfer photos currently in Shutterfly into iPhoto?  Do I need Shutterfly to make CDs of all of my current photos?
    Thanks for any help!!

How to make the best quality Sutterfly copies is a good question for ShutterFly support - eithere download the pohotos or get the CD depending on what ShutterFly support suggests and then import to iPhoto
iPhoto simply takes the quality you provide and makes an exact copy of it

  • What is the best way to send large, HD video files from the iPad?

    Hello,
My department is looking to purchase between 50 and 150 new iPads. We hold conferences where participants take short, 3-minute videos of themselves in situations they have been trained for. The idea was that after they have taken the video, they could simply email these videos to themselves, negating the need to hook the device up to a computer, transfer the video over to a flash drive, and ensure that drive gets back to the right person.
Now that I have the first one, I'm finding any video longer than 45s or so can't be sent via email because it's too large.
    Are you kidding?
The file I was just able to send was 7.5MB. That's the biggest video I can send from this thing? Why even give us the ability to take HD video if we can't *do* anything with it?
    But, I digress.
What I'm looking for is the best way to get video off the iPads and into the hands of our participants. Are there apps on the App Store which might convert whatever video we take to an emailable size? I thought about setting everyone up with Apple IDs and having them use iMessage since there is no limit on file size, but of course you must own an Apple device in order to do that, and it still doesn't solve getting it on their computers.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

You could try uploading them to a joint dropbox account that they could then download them from....but how fast it is will depend on the internet connection available.

  • What is the best way to archive large mailboxes

I am using Mail on Mavericks 10.9.5 with my corporate mail (Exchange 2007). I am getting issues trying to archive my email, and remove it from the Exchange Server. I usually divide mail into years, e.g  mailbox for 2012, 13 etc.
I have 2 years of mail with about 14000 messages, and I want to migrate it off. I have taken the usual steps of creating a new mail box local to my mac and moving mail this way. However, unless I pick a very small no of messages, this method crashes mail. I have tried this over a few different versions of Mail, 10.8.x and 10.9.x and I get the same result.
Is there a way to just move the current exchange mailbox on my mac, from a live state to a archive state at the terminal or cmd line level?
If I can do this, I will then archive that mail from the Exchange server such that I start with a fresh/empty mailbox.
    Thanks

  • What is the best way of replacing words in a text file ?

i want to read in a text file and when i come across a certain word, i want to change it to something else. Whats the best way to do this ?
If i read in a line at a time, how would i only replace one word and not the rest of the line ?
    thanks

thanks it works !!! But i wrote the contents to a new file.
How do i overwrite the same file ? I put the the input and output file as the same location but it overwrites the original file with a blank one.
i guess i have to write into another buffer and read all lines first before overwriting the file right ? how should i do that ?
also, i only want to overwrite the file ONLY if applies replaceAll method, otherwise if no replacing takes place i dont want to keep updating the file everytime.

  • What is the best way to integrate a sound file (mp3) into a PDF?

I saw that its possible to do it by Tools->Multimedia->Sound. This works fine on a computer but not a tablet. So what is the right way to embed a sound file into a PDF of maybe by Indesign? What i want is that people can easily open a document (PDF) on a tablet and when they click on a (play)icon that they hear a sound file. The best thing is that they can stop or put it on pause.

I think this functionality relies on Flash, so it's not likely it's going
to work on mobile devices, certainly not on iOS ones.

  • What is the best way to extract large volume of data from a BW InfoCube?

    Hello experts,
Wondering if someone can suggest the best method that is availabe in SAP BI 7.0 to extract a large amount of data (approx 70 million records) from an InfoCube.  I've tried OpenHub and APD but not working.  I always need to separate the extracts into small datasets.  Any advice is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    David

    Hi David,
We had the same issue but that was loading from an ODS to cube. We have over 50 million records. I think there is no such option like parallel loading using DTPs. As suggested earlier in the forum, the only best option is to split according to the calender year of fis yr.
But remember even with the above criteria sometimes for some cal yr you might have lot of data, even that becomes a problem.
What i can suggest you is apart from Just the cal yr/fisc, also include some other selection criteria like comp code or sales org.
yes you will end up load more requests, but the data loads would go smooth with lesser volumes.
    Regards

  • What is the best program for splitting large video files (for archiving)?

I have just finished a project and I want to back up everything to DVD-R discs, including all my capture files and completed movies exported from Final Cut. Some of the files are 5 or 6 Gb, too large for one DVD-R disc.
I tried downloading a program called MacHacha, and did a test on one file, splitting it into 3 segments and then joining it back together with the same program. The resulting file should have been a duplicate of the original, but it was not. It was not even recognized by QuickTime Player as a .mov file.
What program do you use for this purpose? What program is reliable for this and produces a joined file that is identical to the original?
    Thank you for your reply.

Thank you for your help and suggestions. I tried a couple of experiments with a video file that has chapter markers. This was created in FCE using the "Export - QuickTime Movie" command.
One experiment was to bring the file into a new, blank sequence in FCE. Then export it right back out as a QuickTime movie. The resulting movie appears to be identical to the original, except that there are no chapter markers any more.
The second experiment was to make a duplicate of the original sequence which I used to make the movie in the first place. In this duplicate, I deleted everything except the chapter markers. I then brought in the video file into that sequence and exported it. The resulting file appears to be identical, and this one does have the chapter markers.
The only problem with doing it that way is that I lose all my edits. What if I wanted to edit something or adjust one of my original edits? I can't go back to that stage, with all my original edits, if I don't have all the original source files.
In addition, it's not clear to me exactly how I would use FCE as the "splitting program." How do you split a sequence into smaller parts?
All I really want to do is take a "snapshot" of the entire project, including all the source files, capture scratch files, etc. I don't need to back up the render files because those can easily be re-rendered. The entire project is taking up about 72 Gb on my hard drive, and I want to offload the whole thing. Even if it takes me 20 DVD-R discs to do it, that's no problem. Someone must have come up with a program or solution to do this.
    Thanks!

  • What's the best way to transfer large files to a fellow Mac user?

    … ftp, file sharing, dropbox…?

    Is this a one-time transfer?
If so, what is your email file size limit?
Depending on the limit, try Compressing the file.  If that doesn't work, try splitting the file into smaller chunks with Tar.
In Terminal (assumes file is on Desktop, if not, just change cd)
Note: don't use full path in filename unless you want it stored in the Tar
This will break the file into 10MG chunks (-L10000):
      cd Desktop
      /usr/bin/gnutar -L10000 -cMv --file=tar_archive.{tar,tar-{2..25}} [FileToTar]
to Extract on the receivers end:
             /usr/bin/gnutar -xMv --file=tar_archive.{tar,tar-{2..25}}
