Yes, download a version of AudioHijack pro, and hijack the sound from your computer into a file. Once in file form convert it to anything you like. the program will even allow you to auto-split along 2 second pauses to separate tracks for each chapter. Alternatively use a program such as Fusion to search for the chapter divisions and split it after the fact. Non-mac computers have similar hijacking software available. It simply diverts your audio into a file instead of sending it to a speaker. It will convert anything. The alternative can also be done with two computers and a simple audio jack taking sound out of one computer and recording it with another. If your home is like mine, it is not a stretch to come up with two computers. I could even play it on my main laptop and record it on my iPhone, this is not a big stretch these days. This is the reason most large audio sellers have abandoned DRM, since sooner or later all sound has to be converted to audio and any audio can be recorded as a new recording. I do purchase the original and support the authors, but if I buy it, I want to use it and that often means fair use rules must apply no matter what the seller states.

ID does not load QXD files. There is a respective commercial third-party plug-in to that effect, but it's rather pricey and I'm not up to speed which versions of Quark and ID it supports and which features come over. Inquire in the ID forum.

I have a MBP 2.66 core duo and a canon hf200 (with a transcend 16gb class6 sd card).
I shot 90 minutes of footage and then tried the sd reader in the MBP, and even connected the camcorder via usb cable but the only files that are found are VLC or rather .mts
The MBP wont see the camcorder when linked by cable, and my imovie 09 and Final cut express wont read or import the .mts files.
So will quicktimepro open them and work smoothly? the page from apple does not list .mts as files supported.

but it costs about the same price of $30
I just tried handbrake and it worked??? but is it a functional conversion or will any imovies i try to make have coding errors from some incompatabilities?

Obviouslly, Adobe Media Encoder does not export to .ogg so I would need an external program to do this. Does anyone have any input? Would I export to a high quality AVI or Quicktime and the use some kind of external converter? any recomendations?

I want to load data from a flat file, convert dates, numbers and some fields with custom logic (e.g. 0,1 into N,Y) to the correct format.
The rows where all to_number, to_date and custom conversions succeed should go into table STG_OK. If some conversion fails (due to an illegal format in the flat file), those rows (where the conversion raises some exception) should go into table STG_ERR.
What is the best and easiest way to archive this?

thanks for your answers so far!
I gave them a thought and came up with two different alternatives:
Alternative 1
I load the data from the flat file into a staging table using sqlldr. I convert the data to the target format using sqlldr expressions.
The columns of the staging table have the target format (date, number).
The rows that cannot be loaded go into a bad file. I manually load the data from the bad file (without any conversion) into the error table.
Alternative 2
The columns of the staging table are all of type varchar2 regardless of the target format.
I define data rules for all columns that require a later conversion.
I load the data from the flat file into the staging table using external table or sqlldr without any data conversion.
The rows that cannot be loaded go automatically into the error table.
When I read the data from the staging table, I can safely convert it since it is already checked by the rules.
What I dislike in alternative 1 is that I manually have to create a second file and a second mapping (ok, I can automate this using OMB*Plus).
Further, I would prefer using expressions in the mapping for converting the data.
What I dislike in alternative 2 is that I have to create a data rule and a conversion expression and then keep the data rule and the conversion expression in sync (in case of changes of the file format).
I also would prefer to have the data in the staging table in the target format. Well, I might load it into a second staging table with columns having the target format. But that's another mapping and a lot of i/o.
As far as I know I need the data quality option for using data rules, is that true?
Is there another alternative without any of these drawbacks?
Otherwise I think I will go for alternative 1.

What is the best way of converting a Top Level VI into a 'sub vi' - or function ( without duplicating programming)

General question here about design architecture, which i keep running into, but haven't found a really good solution. If i write a 'Top Level VI' to do something, what is the best way of converting it into a subVI - which is call-able from other VIs, while still allowing the top level VI to have synchronised feedback/indicator updates.
I guess the point is that when something is a top level VI you write gui logic about what happens when someone clicks buttons or whatever - which you don't want in the 'sub vi' version.
I did at one point try having a hidden boolean button that was an input to the subVI which would let the VI know if it was supposed to be doing the front panel stuff - or simply running as a subVI. This isn't really ideal though - since it would be better to be able to hive off the grizzly useful stuff from the fluffy - front panel updating stuff - having them together makes the VIs rather untidy. More annoyingly though, if you have the front panel version of it running - say waiting for you to hit 'go', it breaks all the other VIs that use it as a sub vi - since they can't compile when a sub vi is already running.
Another possibility that i tried was to basically duplicate the vi so that there was a backend part, and a front end part - and when i click 'go' the backend part is called as a sub vi. The problem with this is that it really limits the interface that the user gets - since none of the controls on the front panel update with the results untill the sub vi is over. I guess again i could solve this by passing references to some of the controls to update them in the subvi - but this doesn't really seem like the ideal situation if the subvi is called by something else without the same types of controls etc.
One final idea i had was to essentially paste all the controls in the VI into a global variable file, and make the sub vi update them, and the front panel VI read from them. This seems to 'work' - although clearly it is a work around rather than a proper solution - since i spend loads of time worrying about how i update cluster variables in the global - reading and writing.
Does anyone have any guidance on what they do to solve this problem?

You could run a subvis in a Subpanel on your top level. Lets you see the current data while the subvi is running.
