What is the correct boot camp support driver for late 2009 Macbook for windows 8.1

I have late 2009 Macbook with OS X 10.9.4.  I want to run boot camp for windows 8.1, but unable to due to the fact that it can only run Windows 7.  What is the correct Boot Camp Support Software so that I can run Windows 8.1?

Thanks for the info, but unfortunately there is no current support software or update for my issue at this time.  I found the information under Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows operating system.  Hopefully Apple will fix this issue promptly!

  • What is the correct boot camp version to use with an early 2009 iMac 24 inch?  Boot Camp assistant says software not currently available?

I have an early 2009 24 inch iMac.  It is running mavericks.  When I attempt to download using the boot camp assistant i get the message " software not currently available from server"  So I went to the Boot Camp support website and there are about half a dozen versions of the boot camp download.  None of them match my hardware.  I tried the one closest, but when I went to run the setup in windows, it says my machine does not support x64.  I have installed windows 7 home premium x64....It works, sort of.  I cant get sound and my magic mouse behaves badly.
Do I need a different version of windows or is there a compatible version of boot camp for my system?  Thanks for reading.

If you installed Mavericks then you had Boot Camp 5 installed automatically. If you have tried downloading from Apple's download site you won't find a version other than 4 or 5 that provide a total package.

  • The umpteenth Boot Camp fan driver topic.

    Hello all,
This is a Boot Camp question, but as it specifically relates to the Mac Pro, so I'm posting it here.
I recently upgraded from 10.4.11 to 10.5.6, and from Boot Camp Beta to Boot Camp 2.0. I had previously used Boot Camp Beta, primarily and rather extensively for gaming, in XP, until it became obvious that my X1900XT was experiencing real problems. After some research, I realized that these problems likely stemmed from the fact that the MP's actual fans weren't doing anything while in XP, and the only thing preventing a total meltdown inside the case was the 1900's own onboard fan, which worked at full capacity nearly all the time, but still didn't manage to prevent the card's slow, untimely demise.
Nothing so far that hasn't been reported by dozens of other users...
I've since purchased a reflashed 8800GTS (G92) from Bruinmacs on eBay, and I'm hoping to get back into PC gaming... Now, it had been my understanding at the time (pre-Leopard) that the full version of Boot Camp was meant to include XP drivers for the MP's fans, but I have been unable to track down any relevant information as to whether or not that promise ever became a reality. I've found multiple topics by people with Macbooks where it is clear that fan control in Windows is still a distant fantasy, but I've seen nothing from any Mac Pro users either way, and have found no official word either.
I have SMC Fan Control, and I know how to use it, but it seems like a wrecking-ball-for-a-nail type solution. I certainly don't want to fry another GPU, though. So, my question is obvious...
    Thanks for the help.

Well, I certainly don't have a good picture of what it should do, which is why I asked about how it works. I did Google for info, and I also did see the developer's site before I posted back, however. Frankly, I found the official site and every other source of info I landed on to be less than explicit about specifically the things I was enquiring on. All it says is "fan control" here and there, which doesn't necessarily mean variable fan control using hardware temperature monitors as a reference for fan speed. Besides, most of the info on the site is dedicated to Macbooks - including the remapping functions, so there's precious little for a Mac Pro owner to go by.
Also, as I'd written in my first post, I am familiar with SMC Fan Control and how it works. I was just specifying that, as far as I can tell, Input Remapper seems to do more or less the same thing, except that it does it directly from the Windows side of things. If that's the case, I'll just stick with SMC.
If there's a pertinent bit of info on that page or anywhere else that I've missed, I would certainly like to be more specifically directed to it. Otherwise, I suppose I'll just have to bite the bullet and install IR so I can figure it out for myself. That usually seems to be the best method regardless.

  • What are the normal Boot time?/Wake from sleep time? for MB?

Looking to buy a MacBook for my wife to replace her old Dell D-420. The Dell still works fine but takes forever to boot and to wake from hibernation. I was given an old iBook a few weeks ago and was amazed at how fast it woke from sleep mode (the boot times were pretty snappy too). So my question is. What is the "normal" wake from sleep time on a MacBook? How long does a cold boot take?
BTW: Steve isn't going to surprise us with an updated MacBook next week is he??
    Thanks
    Soon to be MacBook owner.

lancia is right- 56 second sound about right, my 2.0 GHz MacBook boots in about 49 seconds.
If you want your MacBook to boot up faster, you can reset the PRAM (parameter random access memory). What this does is that it resets all the devices it searches for when it starts up: forgets about them, literally
To do this, press down the command (the buttons next to the space bar) , option, P, and R keys at the same time when you turn on your MacBook. Press these keys until you hear the tone a second time. Make sure to do it quick, because after you hear the tone it won't work.
    Hope this helps,
    Wookams
    To your BTW question:
Almost certainly not, but I still recommend waiting a couple months extra because Apple notebooks usually update themselves every 200 days or so. I was disappointed from learning this, but hey...

  • What is the "correct" way to point iTunes to an NAS disk for my music library

    I have a 3.2ghz Core i5 Mac running OSX 10.9.2, iTunes 11.3.
My music library is over 600mb, taking up a very large portion of my hard drive.  I have moved my music library to NAS in order to free up space.  The "keep library organized" box is checked.  Every time the computer loses connection with the NAS, it moves the location of the iTunes library back to the default.
There are several suggestions or "answers" in the communities, but I have not been able to get any of them to work.  They all seem like workarounds.  Is there a correct way to do this?
    Thank you for the help.

Best is to keep the entire library on the NAS unless you have some pressing reason for not doing so.  turingtest2 article: Make a split library portable - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-7392
If the NAS is disconnecting while iTunes is open that is something not built into the programming of iTunes and is a fundeamental problem of using a NAS with iTunes.  Actually best is not to use a NAS.  iTunes and NAS do not always play nicely together and a good number of problem posts on this forum with unrepairable broken links are from users of NAS.  I know NAS owners do not like to hear this but a simple external drive is likely as far as iTunes can handle reliably.  Some have gotten NAS to work but there isn't a magic solution.

  • Windows 8 Boot Camp support software

Good day, I have installed Windows 8 successfully on my Macbook, [OS X Mountain Lion] using Boot Camp assistant. When I got to the step to install the Boot Camp Support software with the CD I created during installation through bootcamp, a pop up message appeared: "This version of Boot Camp is not intended for this computer model." I am stuck in Windows at the moment, there is no way to restart in Mac OS X now, I have tried the hold down the option key while restarting too, it doesn't work.
    1. how can I get to restart in Mac again?
    2. where can I download the correct Boot Camp support software for this computer for Windows 8? [macbook pro with retina display; OS X Mountain Lion]

Reboot, hold the X key when you hear the chime, hold it until the computer starts to boot in OSX

Windows 8 is not yet supported, there are no drivers, wait for them or use Windows 7.

  • Boot camp support for windows 7 /2009. Now will be released when ready 2010

Boot camp support end of year 2009 has now been revised to the following
Apple is working to support Microsoft Windows 7 (Home Premium, Professional, and Ultimate) with Boot Camp in Mac OS X. This support will require a software update to Boot Camp that we plan to release as soon as it's ready.

And they ain't sayin nothin like Charlie Brown's teacher - waa waa waa waa waa.
    Actually let me translate:
"We are incompitent and inept. We are working as slow as possible given our distain for Microsoft. Even though we have the resources to develop these drivers in a few weeks, we are going to drag our feet hoping to frustrate our customers into using OS X even though half the software out there does not run on our OS. We are sorry you are a premium customer willing to pay more than anyone else for a laptop and you did so for customer service and quality. Unfortunately, we are going to totally ignore you on this issue".

  • Where is iso file in boot camp support download to copy to usb drive?

I am attempting to install Windows 7 professional 64 bit on a 21" imac. I have downloaded boot camp support software 5.0.5033. I have a 4gb flash drive installed. When I run boot camp I am asked to install a iso image. I can not find an iso image. I have tried using msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/x17-59186.iso and let it run for up to 4 hours and I get a message that the server cannot be found.
Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?

Hi and welcome to the forum pythonscript!
If it's driver issue then you should see yellow marks in the device manager, your post doesn't say so, but let's start with the driver. Your system has ThinkPad card and following is the correct driver that needs to be installed for your wireless card:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-73701
There is a hardware wireless radio switch on your SL410, make sure it is turned on too.

  • Windows 8 boot camp, "no driver media"

    Hi!
I have a macbook pro early 2011. I'm trying to install windows 8 via boot camp but always in the beginning of the installation i get this error message saying something about a missing driver media. I've tried different DVDs, burnt them with different speeds and tried to do it with usb as well (it didn't even recognize usb boot). What should I do?
    P.S

One Option is to just check on Download drivers, and let BA download the correct drivers. It saves them in /Library/Application\ Support/Bootcamp/windows.dmg.
Next time when you have all three boxes checked, it will pick up this .DMG and the ISO and create a USB (you need to use a USB2 flash drive, not a USB3 one). Can you try this method and see what happens?

  • Blue screen while installing Boot Camp support software in Win7 Ultimate x64

2012 macbook pro with OSX Mavericks. Installing Win7 ultimate x64 using boot camp assistant and a USB drive went flawlessly. Then I downloaded and installed the boot camp support software from support.apple.com/kb/DL1638
Running setup.exe bluescreens my computer and makes the windows partition unbootable after that, even in safe mode. I performed a system restore to roll back the boot camp software and booted again, and checked the log file. It pointed to an intel USB driver. I then deleted IntelxHCI from the Drivers/Intel folder, ran setup.exe again, and everything installed perfectly.
My question is: what is the Intel usb 3 extensible host controller, why is it included in the support software, and why does it immediately brick my Windows partition?

I have re-installed Windows 7 about 20 times already, I am experiencing the same problem as you are. The issue must be some kind of driver being installed by Boot Camp. When I leave my fresh Windows 7 install with no Boot Camp, the error or blue screen never occurs. This is weird.
    Help please Apple...

  • Erased boot camps hard drive with time machine?

so, i completely erased windows by erasing what was on boot camps hard drive. Boot camp cannot read my "start up" harddrive now. and the harddrive will not turn into a jornaled macintosh hard drive. i checked it with disk utility and it claims to be ok. is there a way i canget back the hard drive and my windows 7 to start up all over again?

I am having a similar problem.  I use a  Lacie external hard drive connected to an Airport Time Capsule via USB to store my itunes library.  Yesterday I disconnected the external drive from the ATC and connected it to my macbook pro via fire wire to transfer 40 gigabytes of media files from my laptop to the external drive directly rather than over wifi.  When I reattached the external drive to the ATC the Lacie drive didn't show up even after rebooting everything. I then disconnected from the ATC and reconnected to the laptop and now I get an error message saying the Lacie disk is unrecognizable and needs to be reformated.  The Lacie drive was being included in the time machine backups so the files should be available through time machine but I don't see anyway to access them because the Lacie disk icon doesn't appear in the time machine backups.  Is there another way to browse the files?
I have had issues with Lacie disks not showing up on the desktop before, particularly when transferring files from one computer to another.  The transfer usually goes fine but then when I reattach the drive to the first computer it isn't recognized anymore until I reboot and it sometimes requires a couple of reboots.  I initially tried to connect the external drive to both the ATC and the laptop but that didn't work, although now I'm wondering if that was because the connection to the laptop was firewire rather than USB like the ATC.  In any case I currently have over a terabyte of data on my lacie that I can't access which includes my entire itunes library and backup files from multiple computers which were "cleaned" but not restored.
Disk utility sees the drive but can't verify or repair and tells me to backup as many files as possible and then reformat.  Unfortunately I can't see ANY files to backup because the disk won't mount anywhere.  If anyone has a recommendation for utilities to recover the files I'd be most grateful to get them.

  • What is the correct procedure for upgrading to aperture 3.4

I am working in South Sudan and am shortly going to be in a place where I can download all the updates. The last time I did an update was around 2 weeks ago.
I presume that there will be updates for Mountain Lion, iPhoto and Aperture, plus a whole pile of iOS updates. From the support questions I see that there is a number of people having problems.
I presume that the first thing to do will be to rebuild the library of aperture.
What is the correct procedure after that?

If I do an upgrade through AppStore, and find it does not work, do I uninstall first by removing to trash? What do you mean by revert to an earlier version, and which previous version of Aperture should I use.
    Neville,
So you did buy Aperture from the AppStore?
Then move the Aperture application to the Trash, but do not empty it, just in case
Sign into the AppStore and reinstall. In this case you do not need to revert to an earlier version. If the AppStore installer does not find an Aperture in your Applications folder, it will have to make a full install, and no incompatible frameworks should remain, as is the problem with the partial upgrades right now.
Yes, I have a bootable clone,
And have you checked, if you really can boot from your clone? Just being very cautious.
Do you use facebook? Some posters are having problems, even after reinstalling, if the want to publish to Facebook. Post back, if you encounter that problem.
    Good Luck

  • HT5634 Boot Camp support drivers install unsupported MacBook Air 11inch

I successfully installed WIndows 7 64bit from a USB on my 2013 MacBook Air 11inch and it seems to function properly. When I tried to install WIndows support software I keep getting "Boot Camp x64 is unsupported on this compter model" message.  The Boot Camp support site states that this install is supported using Boot Camp 5 (which is the version I used). I've found a few workarounds on-line that mention doing something via the disc in the CD/DVD drive, but I didn't go that route so I am unsure how to proceed. Anyone have any guesses on how to make this work?

This sounds weird to me. I just installed 64x on your model macbook air at work today and everything went off with out a hitch. Perhaps you could try to redownload the drivers from boot camp assistant? I have had issues occasionally with boot camp drivers and redownloading usually works out for me.
