What is the correct way of quieting down the CPU fan?

Hello,
Let me first ask for recomendations on an aftermarket CPU Heatsink and Fan to replace the stock one on my AMD x4 965 Black edition CPU please, My profile on this forum has my computers equipment and case etc.  But if you need more info please just ask..
Would somebody please give me instructions on how to make the stock CPU cooling fan run at a more appropriate RPM when at idle and or when running with a load on it please.
The stock CPU cooling fan usually runs up there at about 5,000 to 5,500 CPM even when at idle and it's seriously insanely loud, too loud to be sitting next to it and trying to concentrate on work or even playing a game.
I've been loading up the Overclockers Center program and choosing the default profile since that seems to have the CPU fan set to around 3500 RPM which produces an acceptable noise level for the fan.  But I figure that having to load up Overclockers Center program and choosing a profile each time I load my computer is probably not the way I should be doing it, so if somebody wouldn't mind, please explain what I need to set in the Bios or elsewhere so that the CPU cooling fan is not blowing my head off with noise all the time.
Thanks

Hello
1-This mobo is strong enough to support such a heavy coolers.Now i have i installed TUNIQ TOWER EXTREM( because of porformance/price here) that is as heavy as v8. although the company dosnt gauranty the failure but it works very well on my case and i rotate and opening the case  many times for some experiments!!
2- ZALMAN is a famous cooler producer.I said the rules for choosing a cooler . You can buy one of them .The reviews on net can help you for best choise.BUt v8 is a good proven cooler because the more surface that has and material and big fan.although i didnt have another choice in IRAN.You may find so better coolers.
the fluid mechanic rules say that the surface-material-shape of heat sinks and temperature-velocity-amount of air that moves on the heat sinks are the parameters of a heat sink.
i have a bad experience.In my old case with P4 3 GHZ i bought a good cooler from THERMALTAKE .But the fans is rotating very much and made noise. There was some truth that i didnt mentioned.
The cpu is produce a lot of heat ( more than phenom) and  the fan is 10 cmm i think . I replaced the fan with a 12 cmm fan but the system in loads crashed. The heat sink designed for such a fan and it must rotate very much to cool cpu .12 cm fans cant go beyond 2000 rpm i think and this amount of air wasnt enough for cooling.
3- you have a lot of wind in your case!!. I dont know that greater fan than 12 cm is safe because they use more current .But 8 and 12 cm fans works very well with onboard ports and SPEEDFAN program.
After all cooling and making the pc make less noise is a long story .You must have a target . There is a limit that you cant go beyond that so i think you must have a plan and use your money and time on it.
For my new system i had a dream: most powerful-silent-upgradable system so i choosed these parts:
POWER=CM SILENT PRO- for the design and big fan that they have.
CPU=ATHLON II 635 -I knew that phenom is very powerful but make more heat so i used this cpu and have plan for upgrading with a 6 core cpu.
VGA= 1-GIGABYTE 9800GT SILENT
         2-ZOTAC 9800GT SYNERGY
choosing a gpu was very hard. 9800gt silent was the most powerful silent cpu that i could buy. but for future i bought a zotac. because it has a single cooler and dosnt occupy a PCI slot that i need.
you may say why you dont buy another 9800 silent? because this card is warm in loads and i had a fear two of them in a case may harm them. I count on HYBRID SLI technology that could shut down the second card but it is not working and i am a little disappoint .
two 9800gt in sli have as power as a GTS 270 in reviews.
CPU COOLER=TUNIQ TOWER EXTREM- According to my counts cooler was silent in ideal but in loads it was noisy so i replaced that
MOBO=NF980-G65-It uses the last chipset from nvidia with sli enabled and ddr3 and phenomii x6 support. (The mobo is hot. According to some reviews it is cooler than AMD chipset motherboards and faster but i hope it was cooler)
Good luck

  • Attn - The correct way to connect to the repository

    From iFS Product Management.
    Many people appear to be having trouble connecting to the repository and are using the wrong API calls to do. The recommended API calls changed between beta and production. For the production release here is the correct way to connect:
    1. Four pieces of information are need to connect to the repository
    1. The iFS User Name
    2. The iFS User's password
    3. The properties file to be used
    4. The database password of the user who owns the iFS Schema
    This is different from the beta where the database password was hardcoded into the properties file.
    Note that any TNSNAMES information is still containing in the databaseURL entry in the properties file.

    Note that in this example "gking" is the iFS user name, "ifs" is the gking user's ifs password. "manager" is the password of the database user who owns the iFS Schema.
    "IfsDefault" is the server properties file that describes the ifs connection. This file is in called "IfsDefault.properties" and is located in the package oracle.ifs.server.properties". This means that the folder that contains the 'oracle' folder that is the root of this package must be referenced in the class path when running this example.
    Note, if you use the older, 3 argument form of the connect you will get an unable to connect exception as the iFS will not have the Schema Password.

    When I run the example below on Solaris (after setting the CLASSPATH etc., I get a oracle.ifs.common.IfsException: IFS-21008: Login Failure

  • What is the correct way to dynamically change the View?

    hi @,
    In my application I have a radiobuttonbyKey UI element and based upon the key I have to hide and/or show a particular UI combination placed in the group UI element basically dynamicallly modifying the view.
    I have 2 option one on radio button action I will change the visibilkity property of the group or in the wdModifyView method of the View.
    I want to know which is the best way in such situation as per MVC concepts to dynamically modify view in UI action or in wdModifyView method.
    Regards,
    Amit

    I would just bind the "visible"-property of the Group to a context attribute (DDIC type "Visibility") and set the value of that attribute from the onSelect-handler of the drop-down list. No need for code in wdDoModifyView().

  • What is the correct way to upgrade 5.0.4 to 5.1 Universal?

    I just received Final Cut Studio Universal, and I have Final Cut Pro 5.0.4 installed what is the correct way to upgrade all the Final Cut Studio applications? Do install over or delete each application and then reinstall?
    As always thanks in advance for reading and replying to my Post,
    Sebastian

    WHEN I do it, I'm going to archive what's necessary and desirable to keep, erase my hard drive, reinstall Tiger, do the upgrades, then install 5.1 clean and do the upgrades.
    Might sound like overkill, but I really love a clean, fast machine and nothing does it better!

  • I have a macbook air late 2010 and keep getting a warning that my hard drive is full and to delete things so I purchased a external hard drive (1TB) but I'm just not sure what the correct way to transfer and store files to the external drive is. First MAC

    I purchased a macbook air about 5 months ago and lately i keep recieving a warning that the hard drive or disk is full and that I will need to move items to trash in order to free up space on it. I purchased a external hard drive 1 TB but I'm very new to mac and ios and unsure as to how I'm suppose to transfer my files (video, pics, music etc.) from my mac over to the external hard drive in the correct way so I won't end up deleting them permenately or screwing anything up with my mac as far as the applications and programs being able to run. Am I supposed to just copy to the external hard drive and then move to and empty the trash? That's pretty much all I could come up with, but then what if i need or want to access that file again at a later time. Also, I have an i Phone and i pad so with i cloud it automatically syncs all my purcheses and if i delete something from itunes on my mac it deletes from my ipad.
    I'd appreciate any kind of input i think im just a little lost here. I have to say i love my Mac and wouldn't trade it for anything (except maybe a macbook pro w/more memory)... Is there something I'm missing???

    To free up hard drive space the best bet is to move data files that you don't need access to all the time. Likely candidates are music, video, and photos. Things like word processing and spreadsheet files can also be moved but they tend not to be very large and so don't free up much space. The problem with moving the above mentioned files is that iTunes and iPhoto need to know where the files are stored.
    Here's an article explaining how to move the iTunes folder. You can move the iPhoto library using the Finder but there is a slight complication. Start iPhoto, open the Preferences and click on the Advanced tab. The first option is "Copy items to the iPhoto Library". If this option is checked, copy the iPhoto library to your external folder (drag it from the Pictures folder to your external drive) and then delete it from your Picture folder. If this option is not checked, it is a bit more complicated and we'll need to talk a bit.

  • What is the correct way to add styling to drag-and-drop created calendars?

    I have a working instance of a rich client calendar. I generated the view with the required fields (start, stop, provider, ...), put it into the App Module, and dragged it onto a JSF page to create a calendar.
    Next I created an activityScope object in a class called CalendarBean (no inheritance)
    Class CalendarBean()
    private HashMap<Set<String>, InstanceStyles> activityColorMap;
    +..+
    +public CalendarBean() {+
    super();
    activityColorMap = new HashMap<Set<String>, InstanceStyles>();
    HashSet setEd = new HashSet<String>();
    HashSet setLen = new HashSet<String>();
    setEd.add("Work");
    setLen.add("Home");
    activityColorMap.put(setEd, CalendarActivityRamp.getActivityRamp(CalendarActivityRamp.RampKey.ORANGE));
    activityColorMap.put(setLen, CalendarActivityRamp.getActivityRamp(CalendarActivityRamp.RampKey.RED));
    +}+
    +}+
    Next, I linked this up as a backing bean and associated the ActivityStyles of CalendarBean to it:
    +#{backingBeanScope.calendarBean.activityColorMap}+
    I populated some records in the database with properties "Work" and "Ed', but they show default blue.
    As I understand it, I need to do something with the getTags() method of the underlying CalendarActivity class, but I'm not quite sure how to do that.
    Took a stab at creating a class, CalendarActivityBean, that extended CalendarActivity, and pointed all the CalendarActivity references I had to the new class, but it didn't seem to fire (in debug), and I got into trouble, when inserting records, with
    public void calendarActivityListener(CalendarActivityEvent calendarActivityEvent) {
    currActivity = (CalendarActivityBean) calendarActivityEvent.getCalendarActivity();
    being an illegal cast
    What is the correct way to add provider-based styling to drag-and-drop create calendars?
    Ed Schechter

    A colleague of mine was kind enough to solve this:
    The calendar has ActivityStyles property = #{calendarBean.activityStyles}
    CalendarBean looks something like this:
    package com.hub.appointmentscheduler.ui.schedule;
    import java.util.HashMap;
    import java.util.HashSet;
    import java.util.Set;
    import oracle.adf.view.rich.util.CalendarActivityRamp;
    import oracle.adf.view.rich.util.InstanceStyles;
    +public class CalendarBean {+
    private HashMap activityStyles;
    private String dummy;
    +public CalendarBean() {+
    +// Define colors+
    activityStyles = new HashMap<Set<String>, InstanceStyles>();
    HashSet setPending = new HashSet<String>();
    HashSet setArrived = new HashSet<String>();
    HashSet setApproved = new HashSet<String>();
    HashSet setCompleted = new HashSet<String>();
    setApproved.add("APPROVED");
    setPending.add("PENDING");
    setArrived.add("ARRIVED");
    setCompleted.add("COMPLETED");
    activityStyles.put(setApproved, CalendarActivityRamp.getActivityRamp(CalendarActivityRamp.RampKey.GREEN));
    activityStyles.put(setPending, CalendarActivityRamp.getActivityRamp(CalendarActivityRamp.RampKey.ORANGE));
    activityStyles.put(setArrived, CalendarActivityRamp.getActivityRamp(CalendarActivityRamp.RampKey.PLUM));
    activityStyles.put(setCompleted, CalendarActivityRamp.getActivityRamp(CalendarActivityRamp.RampKey.LAVENDAR));
    +}+
    +public void setactivityStyles(HashMap activityStyles) {+
    this.activityStyles = activityStyles;
    +}+
    +public HashMap getactivityStyles() {+
    return activityStyles;
    +}+
    +}+
    Now, go into the Bindings tab on the calendar page, double click the calendar binding, and specify the column you've defined as the calendar's Provider in the Tags dropdown.
    Should show colors.

  • What is the correct way to inform the controller of an exception in MVC?

    Hi this question has been on my mind for a while.
    Imagine you have a an application based on MVC (mode, view controller) design pattern.
    If a non-fatel exception is thrown in the model (e.g. a number format exception) what is the standard way to of informing the controller so that it can do something useful like display an error pop-up or 'gracefully' shut-down the application.
    The two ideas I came up with are:
    -Return -1 or some other variable in the 'catch' of the try/catch.
    Could be messy, every time you called a risky method you would have to wrap it in an if statement.
    -Declare the model as throwing the exception - that way the controller can 'catch' it and do something useful.
    Possibly makes the controller less cohesive.
    -Handle the error directly from the model by having it display a pop-up error message or forward to an error page etc.
    This would make the model less cohesive.
    The controller should still be informed for the exception so it can decide what to do next - if the exception occurred during form validation shouldnt the controller e responsible for redisplaying the form with an error message?
    Is there a 'best practice' of handling exceptions?
    Thanks
    Edited by: vijizzle on May 12, 2010 8:25 PM

    Just have it throw an Exception and let the Controller deal with it.
    Using a pop-up in the Model makes no sense to me. User interface is the View's job. Ultimately, an error pop-up may be presented, but the problem will be passed back to the View before that happens.

  • 1.4.2 - What is the correct way to format output in the java.io.PrintStream

    With Java 1.4.2:
    What is the correct way to format output in the java.io.PrintStream?
    The following is incorrect, even though it is still used in the The JavaTM Tutorial at: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/essential/
    System.out.formatThis returns "cannot resolve the method 'format'"
    Any detailed suggestions or information is greatly appreciated.

    The following is incorrect, even though it is still
    used in the The JavaTM Tutorial at:
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/essential/
    The whole format thing has been introduced in 1.5. The tutorial also states it's been "updated to 1.5.".
    That's all I've got to say for I don't know how you can format a PrintWriter, let alone a PrintStream, prior to 1.5. I'm not really sure there is any way. Any "legacy way", that is. There almost certainly are third-party API which achieve similar results.

  • What's the correct way to handle changes in RDBMS/DBadapter?

    In my project all changes to the database are not done via Jdeveloper but via TOAD. This means DBadapters must be made aware of changes in the database.
    I tried to re-run the DBad.apter wizard twice (2 different services) - to make it aware of changes in the DB. Both times it failed. I think was after the import database tab. The next tab was just blank.
    So what's the correct way of reconile changes in the db backwards into Jdev?
    BTW, in the DBadapter wiz its not possible the remove a already imported table. How do I come across the situation where I want the DBadapter to point to af different table? - and possibly remove old references to another one - which might have been removed in the DB.
    As It is now - I have to re-work all my DBadapters, which is not very much fun...
    Rgds, Henrik

    Trust me, I hv done that umpteen nbr of times.
    I hate BA's coming to me with changes, for which I hv to modify the DB adapter.
    One big loop-hole with BPEL is if we try to modify the adapters/toplink, it doesnt tend to work properly.
    The manthra for such modifications is ... "recreate", which is definetely not a good practise.
    You may not like but gottu live with it, my friend.
    Pointing to a different table, I achieve it by doing a "Shift+Delete" to all the references of the old table in the BPEL project ... :|
    There isnt a specific provision in the wzd (I am not sure of the latest version, though).

  • What is the correct way to call older version of Adober Reader?

    What is the correct way to call older version of Adober Reader? Specifically version 8? Acrobar Reader 8 or Adober Reader 8? Is is necessary to include "Reader"? We are creating a form and are adding instructions that it works with version 8 and newer. We want to make sure it is worded correctly!
    Thanks!
    Danielle

    When you "Save as" and you select the "compatibility with" for older versions, the document will be compatible with whatever version you choose, be it 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, or higher. If you want to "test it", you'll need a computer with Reader 8 installed, but I've never seen the "Save as" make something that was incompatible with the version it was saving for.

  • XFI Drivers - Whats the correct way

    Considering that after I installed my XFI Extreme music card into my PC and installed the drivers from the CD played games, rebooted and it asks me to reinstall the drivers for the multimedia device.
    What is the correct way to install drivers for these cards so that you can reboot your computer without it freaking out?
    The only way i've been able to successfully keep the XFI installed is by doing these things in order.
    Uninstalling the software
    Uninstall the drivers via the CD uninstall tool
    Cleaning the registry with aggressi've options (JV 6 power tools)
    Using Driver Cleaner Pro and removing all creative audio and Creative audio lite files.
    turning the machine off and moving the Sound blaster card to another PCI slot.
    Turning back on and using the drivers off the CD.
    If i use any other drivers, the Web update 2 or Beta 3, the card will not install.
    this is on this system:
    AMD Barton CPU 2500+
    ASUS A7n8X-x motherboard 00 bios rev
    WD800 80 GB hard dri've
    Nvidia Geforce 6600 GT vid-card
    GB IBM ram

    Well this is a strange problem... So what you are essentially saying, is that Windows doen't keep the the records of your newly installed hardware... Or the hardware may be assigned to new resources after restart, which might cause the Installation to commence.
    The 2nd can happen pretty often on an ACPI System, or if you change the "Plug and Play OS" section in your BIOS Setup. But even if this happens, Windows should have still kept the Installation Information in its registry, so it wouldn't bother you searching for the drivers.
    So I believe it has to lie with your Windows installation...
    What exactly do you mean with "the card will not install" with the newer drivers? Are you getting an error message?
    Have you tried the?infamous manual installation? (Extract your downloaded drivers, then go to the \Drivers subfolder and execute Setup from there. Select the "...Creative shared files" option.)

  • What is the correct way to format file paths and names in the structapp file?

    I am trying to create a structured application to export fm files as xml, and probably read the xml back to fm.
    In the structured application file (structapp), I need to specify the locations of the various files (DTD, read/write, template, etc). I would like to place these files on a shared server so others can use the same structapp file (that is, a cop of it). What is the correct way to format the file paths and names? Can folders folder names and file names have spaces in them? I tried the following, for example:
    \\serverName\shareName\folder 1\folder 2\file name.dtd
    I use the same format for the template file and the read/write rules file.
    When I try to save an fm file to xml, FrameMaker says that it cannot read the DTD; however, the resulting xml file appears to be well-formed. The DOCTYPE element in the resulting xml is formatted with forward slashes and spaces replaced with %20.
    I tried using forward slashes and replacing spaces with %20, but then I get an error about reading the read/write rules.
    NOTE: I have another structured application to read xml into fm. This application does not have a DTD file. The template and read/write rules files are specified as above. Except for complaining about a lack of a DTD, the application works fine; it even applies an XSLT in the process. Again, when I DO add a DTD to this latter application, I get the same complaint about not being able to read the DTD.
    I am using fully patched FrameMaker 9 in Windows XP.
    Thanks,
    Van

    Hi Van,
    The XML parser and FrameMaker are not the same thing. The Error Log says which component created which message. The XSL processor is another option that can throw messages. The "\\server\path\some.dtd" syntax in structapps.fm seems to be fine for some tools, as Internet Explorer with XML tools successfully finds the DTD which appears as "//server/path/some.dtd" in the XML. But apparently Xerxes, the XML parser bundled with FrameMaker, does not like this notation.
    If you have a path with a drive letter, "H:\path\some.dtd", FrameMaker turns that into "file:///H:/path/some.dtd". It seems, Xerces would like to see "file:/" in front of absolute paths.
    This is what I have in structapps.fm:
    Template: \\server\path\projecttemplate.fm
    DTD: some.dtd
    Read/write rules: \\server\path\projectrules.txt
    DOCTYPE: …
    Entity locations
      Entity search paths
        1: \\server\path\
    In the structapps.fm I have the DTD without path information. The resulting XML (without XSL postprocessing) then contains just the file name with a relative path back to the book folder (when saving a book as XML). It therefore requires the DTD to be available at this place. I handle this using an event script that fires for NotePreSaveXml and copies the DTD to the folder of the original document.
    As I always use XSL postprocessing and using XSLT1 it is not possible to have the doctype-system as a parameter I have this in my XSL stylesheet:
    <xsl:output doctype-system="some.dtd" />
    For the resulting XML the DTD is expected to be in the same folder as the XML file. This is handled by the same event script as above, it therefore copies the DTD to the source and the target folder.
    Bottom line: If you want/have to use UNC paths, you have to do some programming to work around a FrameMaker bug.

  • What is the correct way to add behaviors to text?

    I seem to be having trouble adding behaviors properly.
    What I'd like to do is select a few words of text and apply a behavior to them, in particular the behavior Open Browser Window when a user clicks on the selected text. I've gotten this work in what I'm sure is not the correct way. The only way I can get it to work is if the text link also has an a href link set up (through the Properties Inspector) pointing back to this same page. Now if I simply select some text and go to add a behavior to it through the tag inspector panel a lot of my choices are greyed out. I'm not super code-savy but do I understand that these behaviors should / can only be applied to tags?
    You can see samples of what I'm talking about here: http://www.philasecurities.com/luncheon_meetings.html. In the luncheon schedule, click on the "more…" links and a new, small browser window should open.
    How should I be applying these correctly?
    Thanks,
    John

    Pop-up Window in Dreamweaver (Behaviors Panel)
    1.  Insert an image or type some text.
    2.  Select it and go to the Properties Panel link field.  Browse for the file or type the full URL (http://example.com).
    3.  Go to the Behaviors Panel and hit the plus sign to add a new behavior.
    4.  Select Open Browser Window.
    5.  Browse to file or type the URL (Yes, a 2nd time).
    6.  Set the height, width and other optional attributes for your pop-up window. (See link below for details)

    7.  Hit OK.
    8.  Verify that the behavior's trigger event is onClick.  If it's not, click the event box to show other trigger options.
    9.  IMPORTANT!  Go back to the Properties Panel and replace the first URL in the link field with javascript:() which makes the primary link into a null link.  If you don't do this, the link will open twice: once in the pop-up window and again in the parent window.
    Save your page and preview in browsers.
    PS. It takes longer to explain all these steps than it does to do it.
