  • What is the purpose of standby redo log files

    Hi,
    What is the purpose of the standby redo log files in DR?
    what if the standby redo log files are created? or else not created?
    Please explain
    Thanks

    3.1.3 Configure a Standby Redo LogA standby redo log is required for the maximum protection and maximum availability modes and the LGWR ASYNC transport mode is recommended for all databases. Data Guard can recover and apply more redo data from a standby redo log than from archived redo log files alone.
    You should plan the standby redo log configuration and create all required log groups and group members when you create the standby database. For increased availability, consider multiplexing the standby redo log files, similar to the way that online redo log files are multiplexed.>

    I see its content mirrors the same stuff that's currently in my Creative Cloud Files folder on my Mac finder.

    This effectively a back up of your Creative Cloud folder if you uninstall and re install Creative Cloud. The Creative Cloud folder is not deleted during an uninstall to preserve your data.

    0Did you ever have a business scenario where a Numerical column should store values only with a fixed precision and scale ?Lots of business requirements for specific precisions and scales.
    A persons Age may required to be stored as whole numbers of no more than 3 digits.
    A sum of money may required to be stored with no more than 2 decimal places of accuracy e.g. GB Pounds and Pence or US Dollars and Cents
    A unit of length may required to be stored in metres with 2 decimal places for centimetres
    A shoe size may be required to be stored with one decimal place for half sizes
    etc.
    etc.
    Yes, you may just create all of them as generic NUMBER datatype, but creating them with precision and scale can provide additional information about the limitations expected for the values stored, especially for things like reporting tools that may use the specified precision and scale to determine how to display the values automatically (by default).
    If you start questioning "what's the point?" then you may as well say what's the point in having a NUMBER datatype when we can store numbers in a VARCHAR2 datatype? or what's the point in having a DATE datatype when we can stored dates as VARCHAR2 datatype? etc.
    No point in asking such a question because there's almost always a point to these things (and if there isn't they get deprecated in later versions).

  • What is the Correct T420 U.S. Keyboard FRU Number?

    Hi,
    Want to replace my T420 (U.S.) keyboard, and the online documentation lists three FRU's:
    45N2071 (IBM parts doesn't know about it)
    45N2141 (IBM parts has it, $60)
    45N2211 (IBM parts has it, $72)
    I'm a little bit lost.  Questions:
    a)Why does Lenovo list three distinct FRU numbers for a U.S. keyboard?
    b)What is the difference between the latter two above, and why do they have different prices?
    c)What is the "right" part number to get a replacement keyboard for my T420?
    Thanks, Dave.

    Any will work. Lenovo uses 3 suppliers to provide keyboards. I tend to look for whatever one is cheapest. BTW, T410, T420, T510, T520 and some others all use the same keyboard

  • What is the best way to show/hide n number of columns ?

    Hi,
    I have a dynamic report that I have show/hide columns working using the below code. But when there are 500 or more rows it takes about a minute or more just waiting to see the columns toggle.
    What is the best way to do this?
    // Existing Javascript
    [script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"]
    var maxcnt= mymonths.length;
    function hideMaxEarn(){
    for(var j=0;j[maxcnt;j++){
    hideColumn('MON'+mymonths[j],'MAXCOL'+mymonths[j]);
    hideColumn('MON'+mymonths[j],'EARNCOL'+mymonths[j]);
    hideColumn('MON13','MAXCOL13');
    hideColumn('MON13','EARNCOL13');
    function showMaxEarn(){
    for(var j=0;j[maxcnt;j++){
    showColumn('MON'+mymonths[j],'MAXCOL'+mymonths[j]);
    showColumn('MON'+mymonths[j],'EARNCOL'+mymonths[j]);
    showColumn('MON13','MAXCOL13');
    showColumn('MON13','EARNCOL13');
    function getCellIndex(pRow,pCell){
    for(var i=0, n=pRow.cells.length;i[n;i++){
        if(pRow.cells[i] == pCell) return i;
    function hideColumn(pMon,pCol){
    var l_Cell = $x(pCol);
    var l_Table = html_CascadeUpTill(l_Cell,'TABLE');
    var l_Rows = l_Table.rows;
    l_CellI = getCellIndex(l_Cell.parentNode,l_Cell);
    for (var i=0, n=l_Rows.length;i[n;i++){
        if(i != 0) {
           html_HideElement(l_Rows[i].cells[l_CellI]);
    } else {
    $x(pMon).colSpan = $x(pMon).colSpan - 1;
    function showColumn(pMon,pCol){
    var l_Cell = $x(pCol);
    var l_Table = html_CascadeUpTill(l_Cell,'TABLE');
    var l_Rows = l_Table.rows;
    l_CellI = getCellIndex(l_Cell.parentNode,l_Cell);
    for (var i=0, n=l_Rows.length;i[n;i++){
        if(i != 0) {
           html_ShowElement(l_Rows[i].cells[l_CellI]);
    } else {
    $x(pMon).colSpan = 3;
    return;
    [script]

    Hi Andy,
    Yes, I replaced the code calling the same things in a loop to one loop getting the Table reference once and I build an array of column numbers at the time the report is built so I don't have to get the column number each time....
    it is a couple of seconds faster in about a 30 second response time. It will have to do it for now, no more time unless you see something in this new code...
    Thank you! Bill

    A dedicated phone line is one of the many benefits that included when a member has Elite or Elite Plus status; however, the agents that have been assigned to take those phone calls primary address My Best Buy™ questions/concerns.  As you may read in similar threads on the forum, I have offered to provide the dedicated phone number to any eligible members that send me a private message with the information listed below.
    Since you recently qualified for Elite Plus status, you will not receive a physical membership card.  We officially stopped mailing out physical membership cards and went digital back on 2/1/2015.  I have provided a link below that will show you step-by-step how to access your digital membership card; however, you don't actually need any sort of membership card because we should be able to look up your My Best Buy™ account in the register using your name and phone number.

  • Z87 XPower -- What's the third 6-pin power connector for?

    I'm a happy new owner of a Z87 XPower, currently getting it installed and I'm seeing a six-pin power connector between the CPU and PCI-E slots (this is in addition to the two 8-power traditional motherboard power connectors).  I'm assuming it's a PCI-E power connector but can't find any documentation about whether it's required or optional or under what circumstances I would use it.  Is there any documentation out there about this power connector?  It's in a bit of a problematic area as far as cable routing goes, it's next to the rear end of the expansion slots which is as far away from cable management routes as you can get and requires routing a connection over at least third of the motherboard no matter how you run it.

    that 6 pin is only needed if your running 2 or more graphics cards to supply extra power to the PCI-E lanes as its draw will exceed the limits that they have causing instability!
    it is an optional connector and if you only have 1 graphics card its not needed at all (I usually connect it anyway if I plan on going SLI or crossfire in he future!)

  • What Is the best 650w modular power supply on the market

    I have looked at the evga supernova 650g but read a lot of bad reviews, I have also looked at the corsair hx650, although it is not fully modular they are said to be made for gaming and have good reviews. I think I am willing to spend around £110.  Here are my important PC specs.
    Intel core i7 4770 3.4ghz (socket 1150)
    Asus sabertooth z87
    EVGA gtx 760 FTW w/ acx cooling
    Samsung spin point 1tb 7200rpm hard disk drive
    I would prefer to buy a 650w i case I ever SLI my gtx 760

    a i7 4770 and i7 4770k difference is the K version is unlocked that's the difference!
    rule of thumb with them is non k skews are locked to a single frequency and are limited as a result to close to intel specs and the K versions are unlocked and can be pushed harder as a result...

  • What is the best way to add a large number dynamic VI's in the application builder?

    Is there a way to add all the VI's in a directory tree or library file as "Dynamic VI's" in the application builder (7.1 on Windows XP SP2)?
    Thanks,
    Mark Moss

    LabVIEW 7.1: From what I can tell, you can only add dynamic VIs one file at a time, while for support files, you can add entire folder contents.
    Have you considered uprading to LabVIEW 8.0? Things like this have been improved dramatically! You can keep all your dynamic VIs in a project folder, then add it to the build specification in one click.
