What is the currently supported Apple-compatable bluetooth adapter?

I just purchased an Apple Wireless Keyboard and an Apple Wireless Trackpad for my Mac Pro (early 2008). I have an Asus Bluetooth USB Dongle which I use to connect the two devices through and everything seems to be working fine, except that neither device will wake my Mac Pro from sleep. As you can imagine this would cause me much grief.
I searched though the forums and found that there is a checkbox in the Bluetooth Preference Pane (By the way, currently running OS X 10.6.8 but I'm going to upgrade to Lion in a few months). In the Advanced... menu, I noticed that there is an "Allow Bluetoothe devices to wake this computer" checkbox but it is not selected and worse grayed out and unselectable. According to this article, when this box is grayed out it means that the setting is already in effect (See Section 10, Bullet 3). Well this is now really baffling.
After more research, I discovered that if you didn't purchase your Mac with Bluetooth already installed, then you need to use an Apple-supported Bluetooth USB Adapter in order to use some Apple-specific functions such as iSync and Wake From Sleep. I bet you can deduce that my Asus USB Dongle is not the supported device. According to this Apple Support Page, only the D-Link DBT-120 USB Bluetooth adapter (rev. B2 or later) is designated as such. So I continued my search.
The DBT-120 itself is not an expensive part, as I could find it anywhere from $12 to $60, but my is it ugly and big. But according to this D-Link page, the adapter is at it's End-of-Life as of May 1, 2011. Sigh.
Being that it is now several months later than that, does anyone know what the replacement Bluetooth USB Adapter is that will support Apple-Specific functions such as Wake From Sleep?

The problem is not your BT adaptor.  Almost any USB BT adaptor is "compatible (I use a IOGear GBU421).  The problem is it's, well, a usb adaptor.  It's a chicken and egg problem.  You have an adaptor plugged into usb.  But if you sleep your machine there's not power on the usb so the adaptor is turned off.  No power, no usb, no adaptor, no way for a BT device using it to wake the machine up.
I can see your "grief".  I use a wired keyboard so pushing any key on the keyboard will wake my machine.  I also know that unplugging and plugging the dongle back in will wake the machine.  But that is some "grief" waiting for the devices to repair with the BT.
One solution would just be to get a cheap wired usb mouse.  It's probably a good idea anyhow as a backup for the "moody" BT anyhow.  Then just click that mouse to turn you machine back on.
Another scheme, and this is just a untested theory, is based on the reasoning that any active operation (clicking a key, plugging unplugging something) on the usb wakes the machine up.  So perhaps a usb switch would have the same effect.  Specifically I am thinking of this usb A/B switch.  Perhaps just plugging it into a usb port, even not switching anything, is sufficient to wake the machine up.  But like I said it is only a theory.  Hey, a cheap $9 mouse is easier!

  • What is the current status of compatibility of OS X with Logic 9 & Final Cut Studio 3

With the impending demise of Mobile Me, I'll be making some changes.  In order to utilize the full capabiliteis of new Mobile Me I'd need to upgrade to OS X.  I have not yet done so because I have and use FCS 3 and Logic 9, both of which have been reported as having compatibility problems with Lion.  I write to ask the status  especially of compatibility between Lion and Logic 9.  With sadness I understand that FCS 3 will never work with Lion, so  I'll also ask of any FCS 3 users who have upgraded: what have you done to be able to work with your video created in FCS 3?  Thanks.

If they originally had compatibility problems with Lion that has not changed. Apple has done nothing to make older programs run in their newest OS. This will never change, in fact it will only get worse. Even some Adobe software released last year does not run properly on Lion. Has Apple done anything about that? No they have not. They, Apple, expects the software companies to update their software to work correctly with Lion and their user base to upgrade to the newer versions to run properly on Lion. That is with No concern for the Mac user.

    Hi,
As far as my view there is no  such dependancy as our customers are running  in same Environemnt (R/3 4.7 EE and BI 7.0) .
Are you facing any problem durng extraction or its just a proactive approarch .
I hope extraction will work with your current landscape.

what is the worldwide supports iphone 5s models?

Currently, the only unlocked iPhone 5s sold by Apple is the T-Mobile phone which is shipped with an incactive T-Mobile SIM card which can be replaced with any standard GSM nano-SIM.
In addition to LTE incompatibility, if the carrier you use is not an official iPhone carrier, other iPhone features such as FaceTime, iMessage, Visual Voicemail may not work properly.

Airport is a router, Apple TV is a set-top box.

Original Apple TV had a hard-drive, and has been discontinued for quite some time.
ATV2 is a streaming only device, smaller, and use less power. It is also now discontinued
The current model, ATV 3, has a better chip allowing for 1080P playback.

  • What is the difference  between apple care protection plan and apple care

What is the difference between apple care protection plan and apple care +

    apple care protection plan
That is the extended warranty (total of 3 years including the standard warranty for the first year) for any Mac computer.
    apple care +
That is the extended warranty (total of 2 years including the standard warranty for the first year) for any iDevice (iPad, iPhone, etc).
For either, the standard warranty is usually referred to as hardware warranty (not Applecare); see an example for the warranty for an iMac:

whereas the extended Applecare is referred to as that:

  • What is the current operating system on a Mac laptop?

I'm shopping for a Mac laptop...what is the current operating system for a mac laptop?

Mavericks is no longer available from Apple — unless you purchase an older refurb unit from Apple that still has it installed. Yosemite 10.10.0 (now 10.10.2) superseded it. Mavericks came with my May 2014 MacBook Air, and I had no issues with Mavericks, or applications on it. I subsequently upgraded to Yosemite, because I prefer to stay current — and have had no issues with Yosemite either.

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can get a clue to what it is, and potentially use it, by going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and clicking 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you should see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have, or don't want to use, your rescue email address (you won't be able to add/change it until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you will need to contact iTunes Support or Apple to get them reset (which will be by phone as they need to verify your id - we are fellow users here on these forums).
e.g. you can try contacting iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management , and then 'Forgotten Apple ID security questions'
or try ringing Apple in your country and ask to talk to the Accounts Security Team : http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
When they've been reset you can then use the steps half-way down this page to add/change rescue email address for potential future use : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312 . Or you could change to 2-step verification : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5570

  • What is the current Rev for the 12in?

Just curious about the current 12inch Powerbooks. How many revisions have they had? What is the current revision?
    thanks again!!

    Hi Michael,
The whole Rev A, B, C etc etc business thingy is something that was labelled by us users and I'm just as guilty as anyone else in using them. Apple do not label them with rev. letters.
With regards to your question, there were 4 revisions of the 12" PowerBook:
    1. PowerBook G4 (12" 867MHz) - Introduced Jan 2003, Discontinued Sep 2003 - This we labelled as Rev A
    2. PowerBook G4 (12" DVI, 1GHz) - Introduced Sep 2003, Discontinued April 2004 -This we labelled Rev B
    3. PowerBook G4 (12" 1.33GHz) - Introduced April 2004, Discontinued Jan 2005 - This we labelled Rev C
    4. PowerBook G4 (12" 1.5GHz) - Current model, introduced Jan 2005 - This we labelled Rev D
So the answer would be Rev D
I supposed the next 12" model if/when introduced will be a 12" MacBook Pro and true to form we will label that as Rev. A

  • What features are currently supported?

    Hello,
I am new to SAP Business Rules and I am interested in an overview of the currently supported functionalities provided by the EHP 1 NetWeaver CE 7.1 Business Rule Engine. I am a bit confused since the Yasu website seems to be no longer maintained and not all features have already been integrated into NW that have been provided by QuickRules.
I already found out that decision flows will be supported with EHP 2.
I give you a few examples, so you know the kind of information I am interested in:
    - support for decision trees
    - web-based BRMS that allows versioning of rule sets
    - access / authorization control for rule sets, to control who can modify them
    - support for DB data retrieval within rule conditions
    - support for accumulation functions within rule conditions
    - debugging or rules in the IDE (breakpoints, analysis of facts currently in the rule engine's working memory)
I guess this kind of information is somewhere around here, but I could not find it after 3 hours of browsing through the tutorials and info material.
Would be great if you point me to the right location.
    Many thanks,
    John

  • What are the features supported in Cisco Prime Infrastructure for WLAN for autonomous AP's?

What are the features supported in Cisco Prime Infrastructure for WLAN for autonomous AP’s?

    • PI provides visibility for autonomous  clients within the same list view as lightweight and wired clients (client list  page).
    • Rogue AP detection for autonomous AP's is not supported (it's  supported in CUWN).
    • Alarms/events for client authentication issues (e.g.  authentication failure) are displayed in PI.
    • Config management for  autonomous AP's is via CLI template.  Config comparison and archiving  functionality in PI leverages these same features that were brought in from LMS,  so need to defer to others in terms of whether this is a cross-platform feature  in PI or is only supported on a subset of platforms.  Config comparison/archive  is supported in CUWN.PI supports both infrastructure (e.g. AP Tx Power and  Channel, busiest AP, AP utilization, etc.) and client (e.g. client count, client  sessions, etc.) reports, and there are extensive reports for CUWN

what are the meanings of Apple Hardware Test error codes 4m0t/4/40000003:hdd-1300 and 4m0t/4/40000003:hdd-1308?

Thanks - Even though I'm years out of warranty I got chat help from Apple (I said they should help me since the codes aren't published.)  We covered three different questions, and although I didn't get a specific decoding of the error code, I got confirmation of what other comments here imply - it might have helped that I indicated I'd already been here - and useful links to how to do back ups, including to CD(s). (I don't have a lot of data on this computer yet)
Now I need to figure out how to decide how hot-to-the-touch is "too hot" for the metal frame at the top of the iMac to decide whether I'm getting adequate fan performance or insufficient.  While chatting I initially reported it was cool at the bottom and warm at the top.  Apple hadn't asked, but their response prompted me to feel it again, and I'd say the top was hot, not warm - I updated but Apple didn't comment further except to conclude after addressing the other questions that I should take it in for further assessment - don't really want to bother with that.
