What is the Data flow in SAP-BPC NW

Hi All,
Could any body explain me how the data is flowing in SAP-BPC NW.
and what are the steps for Planning
and what are the steps for Consolidation
Regards,
Setty

Hi,
1) Attributes describe master data like a customer. The country where the customer resides, the industry etc. describe and classify the customer. Attributes are not just the structure/metadata of the characteristics. They are also the content. The following table should visualize what i mean:
customer-no. | name
112 | mcpherson inc.
113 | donalds inc.
2) I think, you are asking about the laods from infopackage. We dont have types of infopackage. But we have one thing called Infopackage group, You can create the IPG with the selction of all infopackages in RSA1-Modelling Area to automate those loads automatically. That means it will trigger only those IP's which have been pooled up in that IGP...
Basically there are three types of loads in Infopackage
Full Upload: This will bring all the records in the BW irrespective of how many times you load.
Init Delta: In this you have 2 options: a) Init with data transfer and b) Init without data transfer. Init without data transfer will just setup your delta and when you do the delta load it will bring all the records. Init with data transfer is similar to the full upload. This brings all the records for the first time and will also setup the delta process. Once the Init is done; you have to do delta for all the subsequent loads.
Delta: This will bring only the changed / modified / added / deleted records from the source to BW.
Hope it helps..

  • What is the Returns flow in SAP?

I want to know the flow in SAP SD/MM modules in details as how the goods are returned from Store and how are received at DC and then how these are stored in DC (Storage Locations, Movement Types, Reason Codes etc).
Does anyone have any information on this?

    Hi,
    Incase of Return Sales Order:
    T.Code for copy control: VTAF
    Source Document: F2
    Target Document: RE
    Item category REN
Considering the above settings are done:
Create return sales order RE (with Reference to Billing Document) & the data will be copied as it is in Return Sales Order - RE. For Eg: here you require to change to quantity from 10 to 2, as you want to take back into Inventory of only 2.
    Incase of Return Delivery:
    T.Code for copy control: VTLA
    Source Document: RE
    Target Document: LR
    Item category REN
Considering the above settings are done:
Create Return Delivery through T.Code VL01N & do PGR (Post Goods Receipt). This will add the stock to blocked stock. This will take care of Inventory.
To address the issue of how to take Credit for Excise, use T.Code: J1IH --> other Adjustment & based on the credit to be taken, make the necessary entry.
    Incase of Credit Memo:
    T.Code for copy control: VTFA
    Source Document: RE
    Target Document: Credit Memo
Item category G2N (Check in System)
First in VA02, remove the Billing Block in Return Sales Order - RE & save the document. Now in T.Code: VF01, enter Return Sales Order Number & select the appropriate Billing Type (Credit Memo) & Enter& Save. This will create Credit Memo.

  • In Order To Cash cycle what is the data flow.

    hi,
I want to know that Bank Reconciliation Statement (BRS) in Cash Management, do they come back to AR in any form and data goes to GL direct from Cash Management or it comes back to AR and then goes to GL.
    Thanks,
    Magesh

    Hi Magesh,
    Here is how it works
    1) Accounting entry for Create transactions
    DR Receivables
    CR Revenue
    2) Create Receipt and apply this receipt to the above transaction
DR Cash Clearing ( Here we are assuming that the receipt will be cleared after reconciling with the Bank Statement)
    CR Receivables
    3) When you reconcilie this receipt with the Bank Statement using Bank Reconciliation, the accounting entry is
    DR Cash
    CR Cash Clearing
(The net effect of Cash Clearing is Zero after reconciliation)
Entry no: 3 is created in AR. Cash Management does not transfer any accounting entry to GL.
    Hope this helps.

  • What is the best expression to name the planning flow on SAP?

I am working on my graduating project in this topic: configuring the planning flow on SAP for the different types of industries.
By planning flow, I am talking about S&OP -> Demand Management -> MRP. But what's the best way to refer to this flow?
    I already thought about:
"industrial planning" but it's too general and not precise.
"production planning" but it already refers to the PP module, which deals with other functions than what i am meaning.
"logistic planning" but it refers mainly to the operational level (ressources, workshop management, scheduling) while my work stops at MRP (tactical level)
Can you help me to find the best designation?

OK, I got it now... You are going to love this!
"Advanced Planner and Optimizer", or in short "APO".
The abbreviation even has a website shortcut already www.sap.com/apo and there is a whole instant community already there waiting for you.
    What a bargain!  :-)
    Cheers,
    Julius

what is the business processflow in sap xi ?.
    Check this link:

    Understanding message flow in XI
    /people/siva.maranani/blog/2005/05/25/understanding-message-flow-in-xi
what are the different technical systems are there in the landscape.
The technical system describes the physical view and the business system the logical view, respectively.
So in most cases you must define both but while a technical system can only link to one WEB AS, more than one business systems can link to the same technical system.
Tech System - Holds the tech details like installation no, db instance.
Technical Systems are of following types:
Technical systems are application systems that are installed in your system landscape. An example of an application system is a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) server. In the SLD, there are five types of technical systems:
    1.)WEBas java,
    2.)Standalone JAVA
    3.)Third party
    4.)Web as ABAP
    1) Web AS Java
Web AS Java systems consist of one or more instances and each instance is installed on a separate host. An instance itself consists of cluster nodes that can communicate with each other.
    2.)Standalone Java
Standalone Java technical systems are standalone Java applications that are installed in a computer system from an administration perspective. They can also be installed as an operating system service or as a daemon
Web AS java belongs to the NetWeaver Comes with both ABAP and Java, Standalone instread comes separate from the netWeaver.
    3) Third party technical sytem
It can be any of the technical sytem. let us say if you want to send a file to R/3, here the file reside in your local system. for that you can define your local system as a third party technical system.
All those machines that comes under non sap, belongs to the third party.
4.) Web AS ABAP technical systems, ranging from any SAP system to an APO server or CRM server, are based on the same Basis Component (BC), which includes the ABAP interpreter, ABAP Dictionary, ABAP Workbench, and so on. A dedicated database, which stores most of the data of the BC and the application components, is associated with the system.
    Also refer : http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/24/8fa93e08503614e10000000a114084/content.htm
What is your file size and how many records are there in your file ? which idoc your using ?
The file size that your server can process depends on various different aspects like the server hardware sizing, total available memory form both Java and ABAP side, the kind of interfacing you are trying to achieve, if your interface needs a complex mapping etc. Although there is no correct picture on theoritical Max file size, it will depend on the specifics of your landscape.
I personally feel that, processing a 2 GB file is not a good idea as the message when converted to XML its size multiplies atleast 3.5 times to 7 times, which gets persisted at various stages of logging that the system does. You may want to consider other options like splitting the messages into smaller chunks, having no or minimal mapping and configuring the recordset per message property.
Personally in one of the implementations we have had to process a Max file size of 350MB which gets processed once a month and that too during non-peak working hours.

Selecting an IDOC depends on your requirement.
example: if it is purchase order then the idoc would be orders.orders05
if it is invoice, idoc would be invoic.invoic02.
    Reward points if this helps

  • How to run just the data flow

We are in the process of converting from one ETL tool to Data Services 3.0.  I have a workflow with several data flows underneath it and have to make a change to the data flow.  Is there a way to run just the dataflow without executing the whole job?  For example, I just want to run DF4 below.
    WF --> DF1 --> DF2 --> DF3 --> DF4 --> DF5
    Thanks,
    Dan

Although this topic is solved, just a few clarifications:
When you create a new job and drag 'n drop the workflow/dataflow into it, you are not creating a second object (class), you are calling the object a second time (instantiate). It is like a BASIC program. I created a sub-procedure and called in DF1. In my filesystem I can see that sub-procedure as a seperate file in the folder object_library -> dataflow_procedures.
Then I have two main programs, both just calling that sub-procedure with "gosub DF1".
In the job you see the calls, when you drill into DF1 you see its definition and what object it calls.
Using a conditional is okay but not adviced in my opinion. You are losing too much, the handling is complex and development takes a few seconds longer. my two cents only.

  • What is an ageing report? What are the data sources used to develop an agin

    Hello BW gurus,
I was going thru some of the BW resumes. I could not understand some of the points mentioned below. Kindly go thru them and please explain each of it.
    Thank you.
    TR.
    •     Developed AR ageing report, created invoice layout and processed invoices.
What is an ageing report? What are the data sources used to develop an aging report
    •     Worked on month-end and year end processes such as Balance Sheet Statements and Profit and Loss Accounts.
What data sources does one use to get Balance sheet and P&L accounts tables and fields.
    •     Involved in the end to end implementation of BW at Reliance Group as a team member.
What are the tasks a BW consultant normally performs when he is involved in an end to end implementation project or
    a full life cycle project?
    •     Extensively worked on BW Statistics to optimize the performance of Info Cubes and to create Aggregates.
What do you mean when you say worked on BW statistics to optimize the performance of Info Cubes.
What are aggregates why do you need them?
    •     Prepared design documents from the Business Requirement documents and identified the
relevant data targets for satisfying the customer requirements.
What are the design documents does one prepare, please give an example.
    Is cube a data target?

What is an ageing report? What are the data sources used to develop an aging report
Aging refers to values in different time period ranges. Example, the customer (credit) aging report can look like this.
customer (credit)  for current period, 0 to 30 days, 30 to 90 days, 90 to 120 days. This is the way aging is classified.
What data sources does one use to get Balance sheet and P&L accounts tables and fields.
For P&L information, you may use 0FI_GL_6 datasource (or 0FI_GL_10 if you use ERP 5.0 version). This datasource reads the same information used in R/3 transaction f.01 (table glt0).
What are the tasks a BW consultant normally performs when he is involved in an end to end implementation project or a full life cycle project?
Requirement gathering, blueprint creation, development etc
Refer to posts on Sap Methodology  and Sap lifecyle
What do you mean when you say worked on BW statistics to optimize the performance of Info Cubes. What are aggregates why do you need them?

What are the design documents does one prepare, please give an example.
Design document is basically a document to say  how the design is to be developed for a particular solution ex: FI it says what is the data fow and what are the data targets  to be used and how data shld be stored  for providing the client a solution they need.
    Is cube a data target?
Yes cube is a data target.
    Hope this Helps

  • Issue in the Reporting feature of SAP BPC NW 7.0

    Hi everyone,
I am facing an issue with respect to the Reporting feature in SAP BPC NW 7.0 version. I am supposed to generate a P&L report using the EVDRE function.
    Issue-
In the report that I have generated, the system is retrieving only a subset of the broad-level P&L heads. e.g. while BPC is retrieving the EBITDA, EBIT and PAT figures, it is not retrieving the Depreciation, Interest and Tax figures in the report. All the members that are not getting displayed are members with ACCTYPE= 'EXP', while the ones getting displayed are members with ACCTYPE= 'INC'.
Even though the 'EXP' figures are not getting displayed, the amounts are getting deducted correctly. (i.e. even though Interest amount is not getting displayed in the report, the PBT figure being displayed is correctly calculated as PBT= EBIT-Interest).
Also, I am able to see the amount in Interest payments, if I drill to the base-member elements (G/Ls in my case)
Would really appreciate if someone could shed some light on what might be the probable issue.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sameer Rane

    Hi Nilanjan/All,
Thanks a lot for your reply. I suppose, I was not very clear about my problem. The issue is with regards to the value for the Account-dimension members with ACCTYPE = 'EXP' and not with the members per se.
Setting the MemberSet Filter addresses the issue of getting particular Dimension members in the report. In my case, I am already seeing all the necessary members in my report (I have explicitly created a list of all the members I want to see in my report in the MemberSet parameter). However, I am not able to see any values for these members for any of the time periods (even though the values exist).
Also, I don't get any values for some of the INC items as well (e.g. OperationsIncome) inspite of the fact that the base member G/Ls under this account hold values.
Would appreciate any help towards resolving this issue.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sameer
