What is the details specification of the internal Mic of MBP mid-2012?

I've been wondering, what is the specs of the internal mic? It sure is great for normal chat or facetiming, but it doesn't sound very good for studio-recording tier.

The built-in mic is a very tiny mic. About 1/4" overall and the actual capsule is even smaller.  In the MBP models that I am familiar with, it's located under the left speaker grille.  As a single mic, it can only generate a mono signal but the final data stream is stereo with identical L & R channels.  Given its size and location under the grille it's an amazing performer but you cannot expect it to match a studio mic.
In AudioMidi Setup you can adjust the built-in mic's sample rate, bit rate and gain to some extent.   However, I have never found this particularly useful.
If you are doing studio recordings (or anything where you require fidelity and/or true stereo), you need to get yourself a couple of good external microphones.   MacBook Pros used to have a multipurpose stereo analog audio input (up to the mid-2012 models) but newer models do not.  Depending on the model you have, you may be able to use the analog audio input or you may have to get a USB mic, adapter or mixer.

  • What does the "Internal" value on the ASM Disk Group Usage Chart represent?

In OEM Grid Control, on the Automatic Storage Management Home page there is the Disk Group Usage Chart.
What does the "Internal (GB)" value on this pie chart represent? and how it has been calculated?
On one of our servers it is 13% of available ASM disk capacity.. and on another it is 0%.

Internal space is (Total MB - Free MB) from the @ DiskSpaceUsage - Total MB from the DatabaseDiskSpace usage
It is basically the space occupied by the your DB in the ASM disk space. There are few bugs related to this and need to be refined

  • Nasty feedback when trying to record using the internal mic

I get nasty feedback when trying to record using the internal mic on my macbook. I'm running Maverick. Why is this happening?

Note: there may be other issues involved, but without further details I can only suggest that using headphones is the best way to accurately hear what you're recording, adjust gain levels, and avoid feedback. So this should be the first thing to try as you troubleshoot.

  • Can logic express 7 record samples with the internal mic

hey im thinking about buying Logic express 7, however im am wondering if it can record samples using the internal mic, or straight off the soundcard. for example say if i liked a sound i heard on youtube and i wanted to sample that sound so i could use it in a composition, how would i be able to do this? i have been doing this with my PC using a program called Audacity but im wondering if Mac has that option or more specifically if any Logic program has that option.
would anyone be able to help me?

thanks mate, does that come with logic? or is it a separate program, if so where do i get it and how much is it?

  • What is the best book for Analysis Server 2012??

What is the best published book for SSAS 2012?

Thanks for the recommendation, Shankar! I would like to point out that the answer depends on what you mean by "SSAS 2012". Here are a few other recommendations...
If it's SSAS 2012 Tabular, then yes, "SQL Server Analysis Services 2012: The BISM Tabular Model"
is an option - but as a co-author I'm obviously biased! Teo Lachev's book, "Applied Microsoft
SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services: Tabular Modeling" covers some of the same ground and is also very good. If you're just interested in DAX, Rob Collie's book "DAX
Formulas for PowerPivot" is worth a look - even though it's for PowerPivot, the DAX language is the same as in SSAS Tabular.
For SSAS 2012 Multidimensional, because not much has changed since SSAS 2008, any book for 2008 or 2008 R2 will still be relevant. I haven't seen the 2012 edition, but editions of "Professional
Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services with MDX and DAX" for older versions of SSAS were good general introductions; "Microsoft
SQL Server Analysis Services 2008 Step-By-Step" is also good. For more experienced developers there's another book I co-wrote, "Expert
Cube Development with SQL Server 2008" (a refresh for SSAS 2012 is coming later this year); and for the really advanced SSAS developer who wants to understand the internals of the product there's "Microsoft
SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services Unleashed", written by Edward Melomed and several other senior members of the SSAS dev team at the time. For MDX beginners I'd recommend "Microsoft
SQL Server 2008 MDX Step--By-Step", and for more advanced MDX there's "MDX with Microsoft
SQL Server 2008 R2 Analysis Services Cookbook".
For the whole Microsoft BI stack, Brian Larson's books are always good (eg "Delivering Business
Intelligence with SQL Server 2012") and cover more than just SSAS, although they go into less detail.

  • Recording an acoustic guitar through the internal mic - quality terrible

    Hey guys,
I have had my MacBook Pro for almost a year now, and since I got it I always used Garageband to record stuff straight from my acoustic through the internal mic. Now, it seems like after 5 or so seconds, the sound quality goes way down, and I get some sort of flange-like effect. Everything starts sounding really muddy and the strumming turns into really bass-y noise. I haven't made any changes or anything, and I tried it with vocals and guitar, guitar, and vocals, each have the same effect. The sound quality sounds fine on playback for the first few seconds and then it drops. No effects are enabled - its on basic track.
Any suggestions? This is extremely irritating!
    Thanks for your time,
    Jon

    hey there skank,
i don't know what's wrong w/ your Mac, but it maybe time to invest in an external mic, an outboard mixer or a digital(FW/USB) interface & mic combo. i don't think the internal is the greatest for making music. just a thought. a mdest mixer from Behringer is around $60.00 & a decent cardioid dynamic mic is around $80.00-100.00.
    good luck.

I have recently upgraded my iMac Intel G5 iSight (iMac5,1) to OS 10.6.8 and now the internal mic does not work with skype or facebook. I can here static when playing back clips. Do I need to update firmware or reload old system parts. I have zapped PRAM. The blue indicator in system audio panel will appear for a second as I slide the bar for internal mic but then it disappears. Is there a fix?

The sound seems very faint but can here static on playback.

After using the internal mic for the first time I am getting a buzzing feedback from my audio output

Go to System Preferences Sound Input and adjust the volume level down by dragging the slider to the left. With an audio app like Logic there is an option for input monitoring when recording so there might be a feedback loop if the volume is set too high. Garage Band works in a similar way. Always be careful when using headphones as the noise can be frightful and cause hearing damage.

  • What is the internal  processing for idocs

Dear friends this is subbu working as a abap consultant.
can any body explain the how idocs are transfered (inbound process and outbound process)

1.Here out bound means sender.Inbound mens --receiver.
    Data Creation in Idoc
IDocs are text encoded documents with a rigid structure that are used to exchange data between R/3 and a foreign system. Instead of calling a program in the destination system directly, the data is first packed into an IDoc and then sent to the receiving system, where it is analyzed and properly processed. Therefore an IDoc data exchange is always an
asynchronous process. The significant difference between simple RFC-calls and IDoc data exchange is the fact, that every action performed on IDocs are protocolled by R/3 and IDocs can be reprocessed if an error occurred in one of the message steps.
While IDocs have to be understood as a data exchange protocol, EDI and ALE are typical use cases for IDocs. R/3 uses IDocs for both EDI and ALE to deliver data to the receiving system. ALE is basically the scheduling mechanism that defines when and between which partners and what kind of data will be exchanged on a regular or event triggered basis. Such a set-up is called an ALE-scenario.
IDoc is a intermediate document to exchange data between two SAP Systems.
*IDocs are structured ASCII files (or a virtual equivalent).
    *Electronic Interchange Document
*They are the file format used by SAP R/3 to exchange data with foreign systems.
*Data Is transmitted in ASCII format, i.e. human readable form
    *IDocs exchange messages
*IDocs are used like classical interface files
IDOC types are templates for specific message types depending on what is the business document, you want to exchange.
WE30 - you can create a IDOC type.
An IDOC with data, will have to be triggered by the application that is trying to send out the data.
FOr testing you can use WE19.

An IDoc is simply a data container that is used to exchange information between any two processes that can understand the syntax and semantics of the data...
1.IDOCs are stored in the database. In the SAP system, IDOCs are stored in database tables.
2.IDOCs are independent of the sending and receiving systems.
3.IDOCs are independent of the direction of data exchange.
The two available process for IDOCs are
    Outbound Process
    Inbound Process
AND There are basically two types of IDOCs.
    Basic IDOCs
Basic IDOC type defines the structure and format of the business document that is to be exchanged between two systems.
    Extended IDOCs
Extending the functionality by adding more segments to existing Basic IDOCs.
To Create Idoc we need to follow these steps:
    Create Segment ( WE31)
    Create Idoc Type ( WE30)
    Create Message Type ( WE81)

    BDM2 - IDoc Trace
    BDM7 - IDoc Audit Analysis
BD21 - Create IDocs from change pointers
    SM58 - Schedule RFC Failures
    Basic config for Distributed data:
    BD64: Maintain a Distributed Model
    BD82: Generate Partner Profile
    BD64: Distribute the distribution Model
    Programs
RBDMIDOC – Creating IDoc Type from Change Pointers
RSEOUT00 – Process all selected IDocs (EDI)
RBDAPP01 - Inbound Processing of IDocs Ready for Transfer
RSARFCEX - Execute Calls Not Yet Executed
RBDMOIND - Status Conversion with Successful tRFC Execution
RBDMANIN - Start error handling for non-posted IDocs
    RBDSTATE - Send Audit Confirmations
FOr testing you can use WE19.
There are two filtering in IDoc.
    Segment Filtering:
Segment filtering can be achieved using T/Code BD56. Here you can suppress a whole segment irrespective of data inside it . You have to give Message Type / Sender Prrtner / Receiver Partner.
    Data Filtering:
Data filtering can be done in dustribution model (BD64) where you can restrict whole IDOCS or partials IDOCS to be send based on data in fields inside IDOC depending on whether the segment in which you filter is at the highest level or at a lower level. For example in MATMAS if you put a filter of E1MARCM for a particular plant , only data for this plant will go and other plants will be ignored.

  • What is the internal CR 2032 battery for?

    Early 2008 Power Mac.
I read another post that it helps the computer "remember" where the boot drive or hard drive is for startup. Is that correct?
I get the flashing folder with a question mark on startup and have tried starting up from the installation disc, ran Disk Warrior, ran Apple Hardware Test, connecting to another computer to see if the tower is "recognized" as an external drive and nothing...
Just wondering if the internal battery replacement is worth a shot.
    Thanks!

And if you un-select the boot volume and reselect?
What if your backup system clones? any on USB or Firewire?
My guess is not the battery (I am on original on a 8.5 yr old 1,1) but that Nvram is messed up which does happen due to a mix of faulty USB Apple kb or mouse and / or PCIe cards - and all such cards and devices need to be removed and unplugged to "clear things up.,"
Sometimes moving the drive sled to another drive bay or sled.
Do the two resets with nothing no boot drive present - just slide it out 50%.
And try using another PC keyboard and mouse, one that lacks any NVRAM or firmware actually.
Leaving Apple keyboard out for a week or two can 'bring it back' and let you continue to use it.
Don't ignore any USB device or cable or extension.
The nice part is that a decent keyboard and mouse and even extension cost under $25 for all three.
