What is the difference in PS E12 between 'File Open' and 'File Open in Camera Raw' ?

Both routes launch a screen saying Camera Raw 8.3 - Canon EOS 5D Mark III?
Likewise on this screen there is 'Cancel' and 'Done' Buttons', what is the difference both close that screen.
I am assuming the 'Done' Buttons saves any manipulation of exposure or colours you may have made? and the 'Cancel' just forgets them?
Is there a manual for this product; that one can reference, screen by screen? explaining what each option actually does.

If you are opening a raw file (.CR2), both routes are identical, because you have to convert raw files in ACR anyway.
If you are opening a jpeg file, you can open the file directly in the Elements Editor (Open),
or
you can open it the the ACR module. The dialog is the same (or nearly) as for raw files, with the same sliders and features, including some you don't find in the editor : clarity, advanced denoising...
There are advantages in opening jpegs in ACR, especially because ACR works internally in 16 bits and in a wider color gamut. Very important for me is the fact that the ACR modules saves its edits as 'recipees' in the metadata section of the jpeg files, without changing any pixel value of the original.

Cancel does cancel every edit you have started. You are back to the original file.
'Done' saves your edits, as you rightly assume.
'Open' saves the edits and send them to the editor for further editing if you want, for local retouch or using layers for instance.
'Alt Open' does not saves the edits, but sends the edited result to the editor.
'Save' is only used if you wish to convert the raw files to the DNG format.

    what is the difference in execution time between a program written in C language and the same program made with LabView?

    Hi Pepe
    You cannot say which is faster, the LV or the C programm. The only way to be sure is to program in both environments and to check than. Check this for some benchmark examples:

  • OSD: What is the difference booting into winpe from pxe/media and booting in winpe from OS/Vista?

    Hi,
    We have a task sequence issue. Please see
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/56d783e3-214d-4027-84c1-c03cdf2013f1/osd-convert-boot-to-logical-path-failed-0x80070490-retrying-after-attempt-29-it-fails-and-says?forum=configmanagersecurity
    for more info. What I would like to know: what is the difference/is there a difference between:
    A.booting in PXE/bootable media to WINPE
    B.booting from OS (Vista) into WINPE => will this load the x86 boot image (it doesn’t look like it, I CAN see the image loaded ….wim is exactly the same when loaded from OS)
    The reason why I ask this: see link above: loading TS from PXE/media works fine, when choosing the exact same TS from WITHIN OS (Vista, 32 bit) the TS fails.
    Note: we set the ts step format system disk to NOT run if _SMSTSMediaType is OEMMedia (set in order to not format if prestaged media). So if for some reason this variable would be set booting TS from OS?
    Please advise.

    What I would like to know: what is the difference/is there a difference between:
    There is none.
    Starting a TS using Software Center will download the boot image that's assigned to the task sequence.
    PXE (depending on how many boot images are available on the PXE-enabled DP): the TS will use the boot image that's assigned to the task sequence (it will download that one and reboot into PE for a second time if the first boot image (see smspxe.log) does not
    match).
    P.S. Please don't post another question for the exact same topic. Thanks.

  • What's the difference of character encoding between 1.4.0and1.4.2 in Linux

    As i find, the character encoding about chinese in jdk1.4.2 no langer the same of jdk1.4.0.
    In jdk1.4.0, the character encoding used the "file.encoding" system property, we often set the
    property with "gb2312".
    But in jdk1.4.2, i find that the default character encoding no longer used the "file.encoding" system property.
    Who knows the reason?
    Test Program:
    public class B{
    public static void main(String args[]) throws Exception{
    byte [] bytes = new byte[]{(byte)0xD6,(byte)0xD0,(byte)0xCE,(byte)0xC4};
    String s1 = new String(bytes);
    String s2 = new String(bytes,System.getProperty("file.encoding"));
    System.out.println("s1="+s1+" , s2="+s2);
    System.out.println("s1.length=" + s1.length() + " , s2.length="+s2.length());
    run four times and the result list:
    [root@app15 component]# /usr/local/j2sdk1.4.0/bin/java -Dfile.encoding=ISO-8859-1 -cp . B
    s1=&#20013;&#25991; , s2=&#20013;&#25991;
    s1.length=4 , s2.length=4
    [root@app15 component]# /usr/local/j2sdk1.4.0/bin/java -Dfile.encoding=gb2312 -cp . B
    s1=&#20013;&#25991; , s2=&#20013;&#25991;
    s1.length=2 , s2.length=2
    [root@app15 component]# /usr/local/j2sdk1.4.2/bin/java -Dfile.encoding=ISO-8859-1 -cp . B
    s1=&#20013;&#25991; , s2=&#20013;&#25991;
    s1.length=4 , s2.length=4
    [root@app15 component]# /usr/local/j2sdk1.4.2/bin/java -Dfile.encoding=gb2312 -cp . B
    s1=&#20013;&#25991; , s2=??
    s1.length=4 , s2.length=2
    [root@app15 component]#

    I don't know for sure, but:
    -- The API documentation for String says that "new String(byte[])" uses "the platform's default charset".
    -- The API documentation for Charset says "The default charset is determined during virtual-machine startup and typically depends upon the locale and charset being used by the underlying operating system."
    You'll notice that it doesn't say anything about using the file.encoding system value, so presumably (based on your experiments) it doesn't. I did a search for "java default charset" and didn't find anything specific, but this site says "As of Java 1.4.1, the default Charset varies from platform to platform" and suggests you explicitly hard-code your charset. I would agree with that.

  • What is the difference aside from size between the 15 and 17 inch MBP

    im trying to decide which one to get. money is not the issue here. I do need to carry on the laptop in my camera bag worldwide. I want the fastest most adept laptop. Photoshop ( when they offer the new version ) and garageband must run very smoothly. Will the 17" run that better than the 15" or is this just about a bigger screen?
    anyone have experience with both?
    own both?
    thanks

    it's really just the screen, a couple of extra ports and the availability of a 7200rpm drive as a custom build, if this appeals to you. that's it.

    Hi
    What's the difference (in layman terms) between the Generators and Image Units in the Library?

    I may be wrong, but I believe that Image Units are part of the operating system (core video, core gfx, etc), thus can change with OS changes. Generators and filters are coded specific to Motion...

  • MR11, F.13, F.19 ,what's the differences?

    can anyone tell me what's the differences among them?

    Hi,
    Good evening and greetings,
    Technically speaking, MR11 is highly sophisticated wherein you can get the information like Goods Received, Invoice Received Value, PO raised for etc and you can take a decision making before clearing the GR/IR balances.
    Before MR11, F.19 was used and it clears based on the Automatic Account Clearing rules maintained in the system. There is no much difference between F.13 and F.19. Hope this clears.
    Please reward points if found useful
    Thanking you
    With kindest regards

  • What is the difference twixt Reader 9.x & 10.x

    What are the differences twixt Reader 9.x & 10.x and what are your opinions on them (Pro & Con).
    Thank you...

    Well, I was under the impression that the major difference is that 9.x is here for us PPC users while 10.x is for the "newer" Mac Intel, OS 11 users.
    Kind of keeping us in the loop, unlike WoW did ;^)

  • What is the difference in 2nd and 4th generation?

    What is the difference in a 2nd generation iPod touch and a 4th generation? I want to know if it's really worth upgrading.

    Definitely worth it. The iPod touch 4th gen has a front facing camera, which means it has FaceTime installed. FaceTime is an app that allows you to video call anyone else with FaceTime. Also, iOS 5, the latest operating system which brings features like iCloud and text messaging to the iPod touch, cannot be downloaded on the 2nd gen. So basically, you won't be able to update a 2nd gen anymore, and you won't be able to FaceTime. There are other perks, let me know if you would like to know more. But in my opinion, iOS 5 is reason enough to upgrade.

  • What is the difference between Topic Keywords and Index File Keywords?

    What is the difference between Topic Keywords and Index File Keywords? Any advantages to using one over the other? Do they appear differently in the generated index?
    RH9.0.2.271
    I'm using Webhelp

    Hi there
    When you create a RoboHelp project you end up with many different ancillary files that are used to store different bits of information. Many of these files bear the name you assigned to the project at the time you created it. The index file has the project name and it ends with a .HHK file extension. (HHK meaning HTML Help Keywords)
    Generally, unless you change RoboHelp's settings, you add keywords to this file and associate topics to the keywords via the Index pod. At the time you compile a CHM or generate other types of output, the file is consulted and the index is built.
    As I said earlier, the default is to add keywords to the Index file until you configure RoboHelp to add the keywords to the topics themselves. Once you change this, any keyword added will become a META tag in the topic code. If your keyword is BOFFO, the META tag would look like this:
    <meta name="MS-HKWD" content="BOFFO" />
    When the help is compiled or generated, the Index (.HHK) file is consulted as normal, but any topics containing keywords added in this manner are also added to the Index you end up with. From the appearance perspective, the end user woudn't know the difference or be able to tell. Heck, if all you ever did was interact with the Index pod, you, as an author wouldn't know either. Well, other than the fact that the icons appear differently.
    Operationally, keywords added to the topics themselves may hold an advantage in that if you were to import these topics into other projects, the Index keywords would already be present.
    Hopefully this helps... Rick

  • What is the difference between "Invisible" (11g) and "virtual" index?

    Hi
    What is the difference between the "Invisible" index and "virtual" index?
    Thanks
    Balaji

    Indexes can be visible or invisible. An invisible index is maintained by DML operations and cannot be used by the optimizer. Actually takes space, but is not to be used as part of a potential access path.
    AFAIK, a virtual index is created by the tools used in SQL statement access path tuning to provide an alternative for the optimizer to test. It does not take any real space as it is a pure in memory definition.

  • What is the difference between the drop and create the index and rebuild index ?

    Hi All,
    what is the difference between drop and create index & rebuild index ? i think both are same...Please clarify if both are same or any difference...
    Thanks in Advance,
    rup

    Both are same. Rebuilding an index drops and re-creates the index.
