What is the different between Sharepoint fast search service and Sql server fulltext search?

HI ,
I want to kow what is the different between Sharepoint fast search service and Sql server fulltext search?
Or Can I abstract the Sharepoint fast search from the Sharepoint platform as a isolate component?
Thank you.
James

They are very, very different beasts.
Firstly FAST Search for SharePoint is the old name for the product and is only relevant for SharePoint 2010 not 2013. It got merged into the standard SharePoint search for the 2013 release.
SharePoint search is aimed at providing a Bing or Google like experience for your intranet content, as well as providing some nifty features that are purely SharePoint releated along the way. That means it can crawl SharePoint content, file shares,
outlook mailboxes, internal and external websites and probably fifty other different things if you really tried. Whilst i'm not an expert on SQL full text search I believe it's intended to provide a search feature for content held within SQL databases
and tables.
Can you run SharePoint purely for Search? Yes, definitely.

  • What's the different between buying Creative cloud membership and  buying subscription?

What's the different between buying Creative cloud membership and  buying subscriptions(month to month/yearly)?
If i am not allowed to buy creative cloud in my country, Can i still buy subscription?
    Looking forward to your reply.
    Thanks
    MM

Those are two separate monthly subscriptions to individual apps allowing you to cancel at any time. It's the most expensive but the most flexible way of subscribing.
Creative Cloud is a collective term for a subscription to the entire Master Collection of apps plus all the extra products and services which come with the entire Cloud membership. http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/creativecloud/tools.html
If you definitely only want one app then a standalone subscription is the way to go.
If you want at least two apps, then a yearly Cloud membership is cheaper overall.
Which country are you in? Cloud memberships are not available in all countries.

  • Hi all, I wonder what is the different between iphone4 AT&T, sprint and verizon?

Hi all, I wonder what is the different between iphone4 AT&T, sprint and verizon? does verizon is CDMA? does CDMA have a slot sim card? what is the version for iphone 4s AT&T? 5.0.1 or 5.1?

AT&T is a GSM carrier. Sprint and Verizon are CDMA. The CDMA iPhone 4 has no SIM slot. The CDMA iPhone 4S does but the phones still can't be used on GSM in the U.S. The software versions are the same across carriers at this time.

  • What is the different between (3.5G up arrow) and ...

Hi, my phone is asha 303...
Simply i have two (SIM) carde from different operators, when i but one of them it show signal as (3.5G and Up arrow), and when i put the other SIM card it shows just (3.5G) but without the up arrow...!!
I dont know which is the best of them and what is the mean of that up arrow althouth they both 3.5 appear??
That arrow appear with that sim in normally i mean without data connection or any thing..!!

    Moron wrote:
Why up arrow not appear with the other operator that contain HSPDA (3.5G)?
That is a very good question actually which I never figured out myself either. The operating system of your Nokia 303, Nokia Series 40, displays HSUPA for some operators in idle, for others you need an active packet-data context. Nokia Series 40 displays HSDPA for some operators in idle, for others you need an active packet-data context. By the way for the same operators, a Symbian/S60 shows complete different behaviour. Fascinating stuff.
In the latest Nokia Series 40, those with Dual SIM, this indicator changed again a bit. But Moron, you are about your Nokia 303, aren’t you?

  • What is the different between ipod touch 2nd generation and 3rd generation?

    Hi all
I bought a 3rd generation 8GB ipod touch for SGD$308 and the reseller selling the 2nd generation at SGD$288.
I read on the article apparently for the 3rd generation only the 16GB and 32GB ipod touch have voice command and 50% faster processor speed.
My question is what exactly is the difference for the 8GB 3rd generation one as compare with the 2nd generation.

i just bought an ipod touch 8 GB 3G from best buy yesterday ( i wanted to get the 32 GB one, but they didnt have any). I asked the guy at Best Buy if the 3 models (8, 32, 64) were the same (same processor speed etc) except for flash drive size and that the 32 and 64 models came with a mic. He said yes, and now i find out that the one i bought has a slower processor than the 32 and 64 version . I already opened it and added 2 songs and a couple of apps, can i take it back and buy a 32 one since i was given false information ?

  • What is the different between component and component type in extract struc

    Hi All,
What is the different between component and component type in the Extract Structure?
I used them, but I never really know the different between them yet.
    Thanks,
    Grace

The difference between Component and Component Type are:
Component This is essentially the field name in the extraction structure. These can either be SAP delivered field names or custom field names (e.g. Y* or Z*).
Component Type This defines the data definition for the field, along with associated attrributes and descriptions for anything using that Component Type, to define the corresponding Component. If you double-click on any Component Type in an extraction structure, it will show you the definitions that have been setup for that Component Type (will display as Data Element but it's essentially synonymous - Component Type refers to structures and Data Elements refer to tables).

  • What is the different between Photoshop element and Photoshop CS 6?

What is the different between Photoshop element and Photoshop CS 6?
Which version is latest Photoshop CS 6 or Photoshop CS 8?
Can Photoshop CS 6 & 8 compatible with Window 7 or Window 8.1?
What is the different between Photoshop Element and CS 6 ?

They are two entirely different and separate applications, each one with its own separate and independent development and engineering teams.
Photoshop is a professional level application that makes no apologies for its very long and steep learning curve. It has a bunch of features that are absent in Elements.
Elements, on the other hand, is a simplified application lacking much of the power and refinements of Photoshop proper, but it has hand-holding features designed to appeal to amateurs and beginners.
If your needs are not complicated, Elements may just be the ticket for you.
Please realize that you are not addressing Adobe here in these user forums.  We are users just like you.  Personally, I have no connection to Adobe.

  • What are the different between craxdrt.dll vs. craxddrt.dll

What are the different between craxdrt.dll vs. craxddrt.dll
    When to use craxdrt.dll?
    When to use craxddrt.dll?
    Thank you very much.

    Hi David,
Craxddrt is the embeddable Designer control. You can design reports with it using it's report design interface.
The RDC has been deprecated as of version 9 and no longer shipped in CR 2008. Craxddrt is shipped with 2008 but you are no lnger licensed to use it, it's the designer UI in .NET IDE.
I suggest you move to our .NET Assemblies and RAS which is the replacement for the RDC.
    Thank you

Hello Guys . I need some help about the NB550D. What is the different between the NB550D-109 and the NB550D-10G?? Is just the colour?

I've checked local and internet shops - strange thing - now, a month after they've started to sell NB550D, in my country (Poland) you can buy only 10J model (with C30) - only green! But the price changed from 1299 to 1199 :)
And 10G model (blue with C50) disappeared - sold out!!!???

  • What's the difference between SharePoint 2013 and Office 365 Team Sites?

    Hi there,
What are the differences between SharePoint 2013 and Office 365 Team Sites?
If I would like to develop a professional corporate website with SharePoint technology (because the company allready uses Office 365), do you recommend using SharePoint 2013 (in the cloud) or Office 365 Team Sites? And why?
    Thank you very much!

You cannot make SPO Team Sites anonymous-enabled, therefor they're a moot point for a public website.
While slightly out of date, take a look at this:
