What is the Display Duplicates button?

What is the Display Duplicates button?

Very likely it is a duplicate.  Use Get Info to see the source details for both tracks and/or use "show in Finder" to see if they trace back to the same file.  If there's two files then it is a true duplicate. If they go back to the same file then iTunes has mistakenly added a second reference.
If it is mistaken reference you can probably delete it but I am not sure how to do this in your case since I set iTunes to manage my music in a different way. You have to be careful because iTunes default is set up to sometimes delete the file when you delete a track reference. If it is two references to the same file you don't want to delete the file itself.
If they are two different files then you can decide which one to keep (usually the better quality one).

    Have you dropped the iPad?
Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

  • HT2905 Where is the Display Duplicates option in iTunes 11?

I just downloaded iTunes 11 and notice that the "display duplicates" option is not available in the Music Library.  Why?

Two Windows scripts to make playlists of Duplicates and Exact Duplicates. Use shift-delete to remove selected tracks from the library as well as the playlist.
There is also my DeDuper script if you don't want to do it by hand. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping. See this thread for background.

What's the best duplicates finder application for Mac OS X?

Thank you both!  I ended up going for DupeGuru because it was free and it worked well.   Easy Duplicate Finder baited me with the promise of free download then when the search was over I got the "buy the software" if I wanted to delete more than 10 files.
DupeGuru worked well and so far I have not been asked for money.
    This solves my question.

  • HT2905 What happened to the "Display Duplicates" in iTunes 11?

Just updated to iTunes 11 and thought I'd do a little cleaning up.  But I can't find the File > Display Duplicates or better yet, the File > Display Exact Duplicates.  Is it gone?  Or is there now a different (hopefullly better!) way to get rid of duplicates in iTunes 11?

The show duplicates/show exact duplicates features have been left out of iTunes 11. Rumor suggests they will be restored in the next build. In the meantime I have written two Windows scripts to make playlists of Duplicates and Exact Duplicates, either from a selection of tracks or the entire library. Note that, as with the iTunes feature, this list makes no distinction between "originals" and "dupes", you have to decide which is which.
There is also my DeDuper script for automatically removing duplicate copies but keeping one remaining copy of each set. This can preserve ratings, play counts, playlist membership, etc. which are lost in a manual clean up. Please take note of the warning tobackup your library before deduping. See this thread for background on deduping and the script.
If you want to manually remove duplicate tracks use shift-delete to remove selected tracks from the library as well as the playlist. Keep one of each repeated group of files and don't send the others to the recycle bin unless you are sure that there are multiple files on the disc as opposed to multiple entries to the same file. Same advice tobackup applies.

  • What is the fourth control button in the upper right corner of the FF 4 window?

I had to reinstall FF4 during a virus cleaning process, and there are now 4 control buttons displayed in the upper right corner of the window. From the right, there's the usual "Close" (red), "Restore down" and "Minimize" buttons (both blue), and then there's a fourth, green button, with no "ToolTip" associated with it. What's the behavior of this new button?
I'm not normally this curious, but I've just had a battle with the "Antivirus Antispam 2011" malware, and am very sensitive to new graphics that I don't recognize.
    I'm running XP Pro.
    Thanks!

I've found over the past day that its presence comes and goes, presumably based on background apps.
As I'm unable to predict when I'll catch it next time, it's best I close this question and I'll reopen a new question when I can provide a screenshot.
Many thanks for your response, and I'll watch for its reappearance.

  • In the Full Featured LabVIEW example, what makes the entry point button reappear?

My question is this: What piece of LV code or invoke node for the TS engine makes the Entry Point button reappear when a sequence file is loaded?
    Background:
I've inherited a modified version of the Full Featured LabVIEW UI, which has been moderately modified (Enough so that restarting isn't really an option, but it's still similar enough to use them as comparisons for behaviors).  Also, this code was started in LV2012/TS2012, and I'm migrating to LV2013/TS2013, but this behavior was consistent in both versions.
    Here's what I've tried:
I found that when the Connect Command executes (See attachment), the button, which is a TSUI.IButton control, is gets greyed out or hidden.  In the unmodified example UI that's provided with TestStand, the button reappears when a sequence file is loaded.  The problem is that when I load a sequence file in my code, and click on it ahead of running, the button does not reappear. In my code, I can run the sequence successfully by right clicking on the sequence file and selecting Run, so I don't believe the sequence has an error, nor the process model.
    Thanks in advance,
    Seth

    Seth,
The "options" input of the ConnectCommand function controls this. On the Help page for this input, you can see that there are options for "ignore enable" and "ignore visible". Either of these could impact the functionality of the entry point button. You might try making the options for both buttons 0 and see if this resolves the issue. If not, please let us know.

  • How to change what webpage the new tab button opens.

When I click the new tab button, it always opens to a certain search engine. I've tried to change this default to my preferred search engine, but haven't succeeded. Any hints?

@zoesull, what hijacked page comes up?
If there is a "battle of the add-ons" about which one will control the new tab, you probably need to remove the one you don't want.
Most add-ons can be disabled or removed here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Add-ons > on the left side click Extensions
If there is a disable button but no remove button, then you usually can use the Windows control panel to remove it. (Assuming you're on Windows.)

  • System pref- what do the display numbers mean &other questions

    1. are they the choices that the mini (purchased 9/07) can "send to the display" or are they the monitor's only display choices built into the monitor (like 1024x 768)
    2. whats the advantage if any of a widescreen LCD display
    3. will any "cheap- ie $200-300 LCD viewsonic. samsung, HP monitor work with my new mini if the monitor has a dvi or vga plug?
Its now running my old proview CRT I paid like $129 for .
    4. does the mini have a set / preferred resolution range, again like the 1024 x 768
    Thank you

Great questions edwardh1. I'll tell you what I think are the answers.
    1) The mini does contain several pre-installed resolutions, so it is aware of several "standard" resolutions without any reliance on a display driver. However, whether or not the mini makes some or all of these resolutions available to the attached display will depend on how the mini "detects" the display.
    2) Widescreen is much better for modern digital media. For example, DVD playback on a widescreen is much nicer than on a conventional screen. It's also nice to have a little extra width when using certain programs that have tool palettes. You can stick the palettes off to the side where they don't interfere with your work area. And if you go really big, like a 24" monitor, you can put two pages side-by-side, which can result in a real boost in efficiency with certain tasks.
    3) As to whether any monitor will work with a mini, in theory the answer is yes. But if you hang out on these discussion boards long enough you will see that the road is full of potholes. Apple, as has been the case for a number of years, is always on the leading edge of new technologies, with Windows in a trailing position. If you want examples, think of USB, FIrewire, Bluetooth, DVI...the list goes on and on. Macs use a modern plug-and-play architecture for delivering the display driver to the host (Mac). Windows can perform this trick, but they also have a legacy system where the user installs the display driver (usually from a CD ROM) or else a wizard installs the driver from the internet. The problem with old habits on Windows is that they die hard. So even though modern displays for the most part correctly implement plug-and-play drivers, which in theory Windows does support, there are plenty of cases where the display manufacturers blow it and fail to do a good job of it. Instead they ship the Windows driver on a CD and call it a day. So you can be 90+% confident of a good result when buying a non-Apple monitor, but by no means is it guaranteed.
    4) This question is very similar to your first question. Yes, the mini will have pre-installed several standard timings. I am sure 1024 x 768 would be on that list.
My final comment would be don't worry too much about buying a third-party display. Go for what you want with the confidence it will most likely work just fine.

  • Opening Display with the "Display Release Button"

    Hallo
I have some real problems with my display of the MBP 17. First the not homogen backlight of the LCD, already discussed in different threads in this forum.
Another frustrating problem is opening the display. When you push the Button, it opens for about 1-2 mm. and then it is different to open it normal. My old PowerBook G4 17 and also an MBP 15" at my dealers place open normal for about 1-1.5cm.
Are their more users of the MBP 17" with the same problem. I found antoher machine around here in switzerland with the same problem (but not many MBP17 are arrived here)
I think this first release serie has really some serious bugs in the hardware design and need to be replaced in a secound or third revision!

Probably a setting. Look at the manual.

  • HT4623 What if the "software update" button isn't there?

Does anyone know what to do if the "Software Update" button isn't there? I probably sound really lame, but I want to update to the iOS 5.0 for the iPad 1.

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.0.1. For the iPad Mini the iOS is 6.0.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
