You can delete apps directly on the iPad by pressing and holding any of the apps and after a couple of seconds or so they should start to shake. Then press the 'x' in the left corner to delete the ones that you don't want, and when you've finished deleting press the home button so as to stop the shaking (you can't delete any of the Apple built-in apps). If you don't get the 'x' on any of the apps that you've downloaded then check that Settings > General > Restrictions > Deleting Apps isn't set 'off'
Or you can connect the iPad to your computer and select it on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, and then use the Apps tab on the right-hand side of iTunes to remove the apps that you no longer want on the iPad

If the shows are in fact still on the pad, they will be found in the videos app, not the music or I tunes app. Look there and see if they are still there.
If you don't see them there, go to the searchlight screen ( farthest left home page) and type in the name of one of the shows. If it is on the pad, hiding somewhere, this will find it.
If they are not there, they should not be using up space.
To get them back onto your pad, plug in and sync again. Make sure you transfer purchases first. Before you sync, take a look at the video tab in your I tunes, and check what you want and don't want synced.

deleteing apps for your ipad is disabled. If you are the owner of it go to Settings>general>restrictions and then turn deletieing apps back on.
If you have a jailbroken iPad that will proberly not work.

You can import your photos and videos in the Camera Roll on your iPad to your work computer using you usb cable, then delete them from your iPad by following the directions here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083. If you also have photo stream photos that are not in your camera roll that you want to save, save them to your camera roll so they can be imported too. To do this, open your My Photo Stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll. After importing them you can delete them from your iPad if you want by tapping Edit again, tapping the photos, then tapping Delete.
Once they are on your work computer, you can transfer them to a USB memory stick if you cannot leave them there.
Any photos on your iPad that were synced from your computer can be salvaged by using an app like PhotoSync to transfer them to your work computer over wifi. (They can't be saved to the camera roll and imported with your usb cable like photos in the camera roll.) Deleting these photos from your iPad will require using iTunes. Once you have your own computer again and can install iTunes, you can delete these remaining photos by creating an empty folder on your computer, then selecting this folder to sync to your iPad on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing.

Ok, here was the fix. I found that the date added was 18 minutes apart for the duplicates. Since half the music was added at :19 and half was added at :37, I sorted by date added in the display duplicates window, and deleted the music by date! It took 5 minutes. I know enough to get me in and out of trouble, and that's all I know!

No, at the moment you can only delete music when connected to your computer's iTunes, you can't delete it directly on the iPad.

What's the trick? Can't delete loops from Garageband loop browser.

Am I missing something? I've tried to delete 3rd party loops directly from the Garageband loop browser, but could not. It wouldn't work in Garageband 08, and it won't work in '09.
These loops were all added to the library by drag and drop into the loops browser.
Is there something I need to do with file permissions?

I think you can only delete loops from the browser that you created yourself with GB.
Just delete the loops in the Finder and re-index everything.

2) using selective deletion with specific characteristic values
Assumption for the above is both the options will delete the same data set.

Yes, of course, there are differences.
Selective Deletion:
PROS: You can use to delete data that satisfies a certain criteria (e.g. some characteristic values).
CONS: I think this locks the whole cube during deletion
Deletion by request id:
PROS: You can easily delete all data that belongs to a certain request id (i.e. you can easily delete a bad load).
CONS: If you have already compressed the cube, you can not use deletion by request id to delete a certain request.

If you really want to get rid of it: iTunes>Library>Apps...right-click the app you want to delete, select delete, when prompted, move all files to trash, empty your trash. Then, make sure you first delete the app on your phone, then sync your phone. The app and all traces of its data will be gone.
iTunes meaning launch iTunes on your computer and remove the app from your iTunes library as well.

Yes you can permanently delete them from the iPad, but if you sync with iTunes and the apps and movies are still in iTunes, you have to delete them in there as well or they will transfer back to the iPad once you sync again.

You can delete the currenlty installed apps. Hold down an app until all the apps jiggle. Then on each app tap the x then tap Delete. Press the Home button once to to stop the apps from jiggling.
And you can hide purchases > iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases
But purchase history cannot be delete.

Apps can re downloaded using the same Apple ID for free > Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
