What is the enable 3G option do?

Hello,
I recently updated to iOS 5.1 and noticed that my battery was draining ALOT faster... So seeing as they put in the new "Enable 3G" option and I was on wifi I decided to turn it off cause I wasn't usin 3G. But when I turned it off I saw my service bars drop to one... Then pause for a second, then searching and then no service... Is that what the option is supposed to do? Completely disable you service? Or just the 3G?
iPhone: 4s
iOS: 5.1

It disables 3G and you fall back to 2G ("Edge") service, if available.  Sounds like the Edge network coverage is low in your area, which is normal as carriers upgrade their network to faster 3G service.

can you tell me where the enable disk option is on Itunes 11.....I cant get to the home page so have no idea where to find it

    Hi,
When you say "What I see is only the General tab asking for sync? " Is the same General tab in the Options menu?
The View Passwords is generally under Options > Security > Saved Passwords
It is possible to check that the new device has the sync account attached in the Sync Tab in Options. If you already did please ignore this option.

Where do I find the enable cache option in CS5?

First, define the site.  Go to Site > Manage Sites.  Enter the Local site folder where you want to keep your files.
Under servers, add the  FTP log-in details for your remote site as provided to you by your web host.
Root directory is where your hosting provider told you to upload the publicly accessible files.  Commonly used root folders include public_html, www or htdocs but this varies by host.  If unsure, contact your hosting provider for details.
When you're done defining your site, hit TEST to verify connection and then SAVE your settings.
In the DW Files Panel (F8) click on Remote Server and hit the green Down Arrow to GET files from remote site to your local site folder.

    Hi,
One of my clients has an environment similar to yours with an internal pair of F5s and a pair used for the access from the internet.
I am only going to focus on the method using an F5 Load Balancer and SSL Offloading. the setup of the F5 will not be covered in detail but a reference to the documentation to support SharePoint and SSL Offloading will be provided
Since you arte going to be using SSL Offloading you do not need to extend your WebApps to use separate IIS WebSites with Unique IP Addresses
Configure the F5 with SSL Offloading
Configure a Internal AAM for SSL (HTTPS) for each WebApp that maps to the Public HTTP FQDN AAM Setting for each WebApp
Our environment has an additional component we require RSA Authentication for all internet facing Sites. So we have the extra step of extending the WebApp to a separate IIS WebSite and configuring RSA for each extended WebSite.Reference:

  • What are the web host options that will work with iWeb?

What are the web host options that will work with iWeb?

Most website hosting services will work with iWeb created sites so long as you choose a Linux account.
If you are new to FTP, you should choose a host who has good 24/7 tech support in your language of choice.
A couple of examples are shown here...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/Website-Hosting.html
The first one allows a trial period and a 30 day money back deal. The second has a free version which you can subsequently upgrade to a paid one with more facilities once you are satisfied with its performance. This means you don't have to commit or pay until you are satisfied and have learned the techniques.
iWeb gives you two options for publishing via FTP...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/Publish-Website.html
The latter method allows you to add tags for SEO...

... and to optimize iWeb's bloated code for faster download performance in the browser...

what is the web gallery option good for if it doesnt work on any other computer, other than mine? If i choose save "online" where do i find ftp server ? and what type of sites does this work on?

Saving collections and I suppose web gallery (although I have neverf used it) is really just a reference to file locations on your computer.  So it will not work for any other computer that is not exactly like yours.

I purchased a  MBP 13.3/2.5/8GB/128GB FLASH from Apple store in Manhattan Beach,CA some months ago. It has only 128 GB storage.
I soon realized that I did a big mistake not upgrading the storage when purchasing. I thought I could upgrade later which is not possible I understand.

    Hey leiv karsten,

  • What is the Bluray Stream option for in Mpeg2 preset?

I just noticed by accident that in the mpeg2 preset quality tab when I clicked the SD DVD drop-down box that there is an option to create a bluray stream. Am I correct to assume therefore that it is possible to create a bluray mpeg2 file direct from a QT Ref exported from FCP timeline; but it would have to be authored in another package, e.g. toast, encore? Has anyone used this? What is the quality like? Is there an avchd option somewhere - I couldn't find one so I presume there isn't one.
TIA for anyone who can shed more light on this.

One draw back with Toast 10 is that it will re-encode the video no matter if you have NEVER re-encode set. A bug since version 9, for what I read. One good thing is that you can put the HD/Blu-ray onto a regular DVD using Toast. These bit rates are higher than what you are used to... 10,000-18,000 Mbps. You can use either Mpeg-2 or H.264. H.264 being you better bet to use, if you can. These video files are wrapped in a .m2ts container. (I think that's the right) Lastly, Toast encoding time is terribly slow (zzz), at least on my machine.
Google it and do some reading... And there are other forums that people have posted their experience/questions making these DVD's.

  • When to rebuild? and what is the rebuild later option?

    Hi,
Something happened yesterday that is causing aperture to crash repeatedly. I think the problem may be with one project where I tried to edit a few raw files and also tried to do a round trip in photoshop with another file. The first symptoms were that the edits using the hud tool did not show up on the display in the viewer or alternate display. Then I quit aperture and restarted it and got about 54 versions of the file I was trying to edit. Then I deleted these and tried to do the edit in photoshop. First time I tried 'edit in external' it didn't open photoshop, then on the second try it did. Well the photoshop edit made it back, but now aperture just quits abruptly whenever I try to do anything.
Is this a case for rebuilding my library? I've got some concerns before trying this because I have about 70,000 images in several hundred projects. Also how long with this take? Finally, what is the option to rebuild later for? The dialog box informs me this will clear the database and I can rebuild later.... hmm that doesn't sound good. Are they expecting me to rebuild from the vault or what? I've got 7 projects not yet backed up to the vault.
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Kendall,
Thanks for the suggestions. I actually had already tried this before my post and had first moved the two projects that I worked on last outside the library but that didn't solve my problem because aperture still shows the projects in the list but grayed out. When I tried to delete these projects it would crash. Its possible that I didn't find the project that was causing the trouble and in any case, I think yours was a good idea so maybe it will work in other instances. Oddly I was able to back up my library to the vault without crashing with the two projects replaced back into the library and then I just hit the rebuild option which took much less than the time needed to back up to the vault. Now everything is okay!

  • What is the best "insurance" option for an iPhone?

Hey all. So I'm almost at the point where I can finally afford getting myself an iPhone and I definitely don't have the funds to be able to replace it if something were to go wrong. So I'm wondering what is the best insurance plan for an iPhone? I'm not the clumsiest person, but I have been known to drop a gadget every once in a great while and I definitely don't want to break an iPhone.
Apple obviously has AppleCare, but that doesn't cover physical damage. I know Best Buy's covers accidental damage, but that's 15 bucks a month...more than I'd like but that's a nice incentive. Are there any other good options that would cover physical damage? I used to work for Best Buy and I've never had any trouble with their BTP plans, I'm just not a huge fan of the idea of paying 15 bucks a month. Any other plans I don't know about?

Safeware http://www.safeware.com/ specializes in laptop, etc coverage, including smartphones. I bought a laptop policy from them around 2002, but since I never had to claim on it, cannot speak as to their customer service or anything. A google on "smartphone insurance" may turn up more specialized companies.
I recently noticed, and it was total news to me, that one of those credit cards I picked up in college for the free t-shirt and have had for 10-15 years, includes insurance coverage for my mobile phone. This particular card is branded AT&T and doubles as a calling card, and I'm guessing that's why. I haven't checked into the details, but people might keep an eye out for something random like that.
I should ask my renter's insurance about the phone.

  • What does the mail sync option do?

Ok, so I have a MacBook Pro on Leopard. In iTunes i have the option to sync my mail (I use Gmail and .Mac) with my iPhone. Well, I'm running my iPhone and Apple Mail on IMAP on both Gmail and .Mac. so what exactly does this sync option do for me? I'm already synced since its IMAP. Am I missing something, or is that sync option only useful for those running POP?
And its disabled at the moment, in case you were wondering.
PS - IMAP Gmail on iPhone rocks.

  • What's the best importing option for a Flash video?

I've got a few encoded high definition videos that are now .flv files and I'm wondering which is the best option to choose when importing the .flv file into my Flash project? I'm looking for fastest loading/streaming with best quality to be the result. If I choose a streaming option like progressive download from a web server, would the choice be dependent on the type of server the file(s) are hosted on? I'm using Flash Professional 8.

    Hi,
The best importing option for video is streaming from flash media server. Below I discuss the drawbacks if you use other alternatives.
    i) If you use embed video option
File size will go huge. Loading time will be higher. This is not a good option if you have big size video files.
ii) If you use progressive download from a web server
Video file gets downloaded to the client machine during the progressive download. Since video file is downloaded into the client machine, there are chances of the external user to reuse the same video.
iii) If you use streaming from flash media server
Video directly gets streamed from Flash Media Server. In this case, video file download does not happen on the client side. Video file security concerns are already addressed by Flash Media Server protocols.
    Thanks

  • What does the "Export Mail" option in Mail app backup? Attachments?

Does it back up everything including attachments? What about the sent messages, draft, etc?

You can export each mailbox(folder) to another location like external drive.  It will export everything.  Later you can import them back if you like.

  • What makes the "Enable Root User" option available?

I've read the articles on enabling and disabling the root user.  They all get to the Open Directory Utility where you need to "Choose Edit > Enable Root User" .  I can successfully do this on MacBook Air with Lion, but not my Mini with Mavericks because Enable root User is not enables (grey).  WhatdoI need to do to enable it, or another way, what would cause it to be disabled?

Never mind.  I have decades experience with Unix/Linux etc. (just not so much with OS X), and in this instance I know I need root.  Besides, if not this time, then sometime soon.  Thanks for your efforts though.
All the more reason for my question. You can always get root via sudo. If you didn't have that experience with UNIX then it might be a more difficult question of explaining how to use the Terminal. The only reason to enable the root user is to perform an Aqua login as root. All of the system-level operations are far more easily done in the Terminal than in the UI. Plus, nobody, including Apple, ever enables root so there is no telling what performing UI actions as root will do. I'm not being pedantic here. I am just repeating what I hear from Apple. I filed a bug report on the buggy "enable root" operation and Apple's response was literally "why not just use sudo?".
