What is the fastest way to delete photos from My Photo Stream?

Is there an easier way to delete my hundreds of photos from My Photo Stream album than individually delete them from my iPhone? They're wasting the available storage, but will take a long time to delete all of them.

  • What is the fastest way to delete photos on the iphone?

Is there a way to delete old photos that have been taken on my phone any other way than one picture at a time??  I am wanting to free up some memory......

Import the photos with your computer as with any other digitial camera. Most computer photo importing apps include an option to delete the photos from the camera after the import process is complete.
Or select Edit followed by selecting multiple photos that you want to delete followed by selecting Delete.

  • What's the fastest way to signal events from a dll to LabVIEW?

We have a dll that does some number crunching. We would like to signal events without polling from LabVIEW. I've researched three possible solutions: create a windows message and grab from LabVIEW, turn the dll into an ActiveX control and send events, or put the polling in a subvi running in a separate thread. Any comments about speed or pros/cons on the three approaches will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kurt

    Hi,
sometime ago we worked with dll in LV and we have found the next effect:
we loaded the library into memory with some program (not LV). Dll had global variables and we could change them from this program. If we tried to work with this DLL at the same time with LV we could see the changes of this variables (the changes were made with first program).
I think that windows keeps in the memory only one copy of DLL so you can organize the data exchange between applications using global variables in this DLL. Let your non LV application make some operations and then change variable when the event ocures. And let LV at the same time read this variable from DLL and look if the event has ocured.
Hope it helps, but I'm not sure, because we saw this effect but didn't use i

Sounds like you're using WiFi...that will take forever & can produce errors.

  • HT1417 What's the quickest way to delete duplicates without going song by song?

What is the quickest way to delete duplicates from i tunes library without going song by song?  I just transferred my music from my ipod classic to my computer and now I have a lot of duplicate music.  Most is from CD's I reburned or music I was able to get back on my new computer through I tunes.  It is from my personal i pod (one of 4).  I finally figured out how to get it off the ipod and back onto my newer computer. I made sure to go to advanced setting and check "keep i tunes folder organized" but it still saved all duplicates.

Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.

  • What is the best way to delete MacKeeper?

I installed MacKeeper last year in an attempt to free up some hard drive space on my former hard drive. I now have a new SSD and have no need for MacKeeper. In addition, I see that this programme attracts a lot of negative press.
What is the best way to delete MacKeeper from my hard drive and Time machine?

Remove the "MacKeeper" crapware as follows. First, back up all data.
"MacKeeper" has only one useful feature: it deletes itself.
Note: These instructions apply to the version of the product that I downloaded and tested in early 2012. I can't be sure that they apply to other versions.
IMPORTANT: "MacKeeper" has what the developer calls an “encryption” feature. In my tests, I didn't try to verify what this feature really does. If you used it to “encrypt” any of your files, “decrypt” them before you uninstall, or (preferably) restore the files from backups made before they were “encrypted.” As the developer is not trustworthy, you should assume that the "decrypted" files are corrupt unless proven otherwise.
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Applications from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-A. The "MacKeeper" application is in the folder that opens. Quit it if it's running, then drag it to the Trash. You'll be prompted for your login password. Then a dialog will pop up asking why you want to uninstall it. You don't have to provide that information. Enter anything you like in the text box, then click the Uninstall MacKeeper button. All the functional components of the software will be deleted. Reboot.
Do not try to uninstall by dragging the MacKeeper icon in the Dock or the LaunchPad to the Trash.
Here are some general suggestions. If you want your computer to be usable, don't install crapware, such as “themes,” "haxies," “add-ons,” “toolbars,” “enhancers," “optimizers,” "tune-ups," “accelerators,” “extenders,” “cleaners,” “defragmenters,” “firewalls,” "barriers," “guardians,” “defenders,” “protectors,” most “plugins,” commercial "virus scanners,” "disk tools," or "utilities." With very few exceptions, this kind of material is useless, or worse than useless.
The more actively promoted the product, the more likely it is to be garbage. The most extreme example is the “MacKeeper” scam.
The only software you should install is that which directly enables you to do the things you use a computer for — such as creating, communicating, and playing — and does not modify the way other software works. Never install any third-party software unless you know how to uninstall it.

  • What is the quickest way to delete personal info prior to recycling?

We are downsizing and my trusty iMac (10 years old I think) has to go, what is the best way to delete personal stuff?

The preferred and/or fastest method to ensure removal of all personal data depends on whether the computer is going to the recycling heap for safe disposal or whether it will be given/sold to a future user.  In the former case, removing and keeping the hard drive can  be the fastest way to do so, but that depends on the design of the computer in question.  Since you have a 10 year-old iMac, I'll assume it's an iMac G4.  Hard drive removal is more involved for that model, than it is for other Macs that can be opened quickly.  The other method is to boot the computer from the installer disk, run Disk Utility and select the hard drive to erase and reformat as a Mac OS Extended volume.  Choose the option to "write zeros" to the drive, as this will overwrite the existing data.  It takes longer, but you indicated that you wanted to remove personal info.  If you're donating the computer to an organization for future use, re-install the OS and include the original disks.

  • What is the fastest way to transfer files and applications from an older iMac to a new MacBook Pro?

What is the fastest way to transfer files and applications from an older iMac to a new MacBook Pro?
I have a Firewire cable and Thunderbolt adapter, but no icons showing either Mac appear on either desktop.

The fastest way is to use Carbon Copy Cloner and a external drive formatted GUID OS X Ext. J in Disk Utlilty, then connecting to the new Mac and using Migration Assistant in the Utilites folder.
Even faster, if you can determine your going to replace all the apps from fresh sources anyway (like if the older Mac's OS X verison is old thus the apps) then just use a external drive and copy just your files to it, then connect to the new Mac and transfer over.
Some apps you can just grab the registration code and install it fresh on the new machine with the old code, talk to the developer about transfering the program, as long as it's deleted on the older Mac in the process.
It used to be Firewire Target disk mode was fastest, but since Thunderbolt came out...
Notice this support doc hasn't been updated since june 2012, no Thunderbolt info

  • What is the best way to scan and sort old photos in iPhoto

What is the best way to scan and sort old photos in iPhoto?  They do not have digital dates.

    Hey Chicago Sue,
Once you scan them and have them on your desktop. You should use Automator and assign the common IPTC tags to the images, so that when you do import them into iPhoto, they get recorded.
Here is an example of an action in Automator:

  • What is the fastest way of getting data?

With a scanning electron microscope, I need to scan a 512*512 pixel area with a pixel repetition of 15000 (two channels), meaning averaging over 15000 measurements. Simultaneously I have to adjust the voltage output for every pixel.
I am using a 6111E Multifunction I/O board in a 800MHz P3. The whole task has do be done as fast as possible (not more than 20 minutes altogether).
What is the fastest way to get this huge amount of data with averaging and output in between? (E.g. do I use buffered read with hardware triggering or is there a faster way?)

Using the NI-DAQ API (not LabView) will give you a significant amount of more control over what happens and when to the data stream; which translates to a more efficient program. But you need to program in C/C++ or Delphi then. The Measurement Studio provides ActiveX controls that are like the LabView ones for C&C++ (theyre slow like the LabView ones though not a lot you can do about the Windows GDI).
What are you trying to sample 15000 times? The 512*512 pixel field?
Thats almost 15Gigs of data! And it means you need to process data at 12.8MB/s to finish it in 20 minutes. I hope you know C, x86 assembly and MMX.
I would setup a huge circular buffer (NI-DAQ calls them double buffers), about 30 seconds worth or so, to use with SCAN_Start. Then I would proces
s the actual buffer the card is DMAing the data into with a high priority thread. Progressively sum the scan values from the 16bit buffer (the samples are only 12 bit, but the buffer should still be 16bits wide) into a secondary buffer of DWORDs the size of the screen (512*512), and youll need two of those, one for each channel. Once the 15000 scans are complete, convert each entry into a float divide by 15000.0f, and store it in a third buffer of floats.
If you wish to contract this out, send me an email at [email protected]

i suspected it might be from query and i need to find the root cause of problem immediately
    pls advice

    Hi Ester,
Haven't got clearly what you written.
You mean to say, there is modifications done to query for updation?
if it is a standard code then I don't think it is used for modification.

  • What's the fastest way to share files live between 2 Macs in the same room?

Please can I have some advice on this scenario?
I'll need to share HD video footage between 2 new Mac Pros in the same room. 1 Mac will be used to upload the footage and the other to edit it using FCP. The footage can be stored either on hard drives in the edit machine or on desktop hard drives connected to the edit machine (or if there is a better option I'm open to advice).
What is the fastest way of sharing the files and what is the simplest way?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

What is the fastest way of sharing the files and what is the simplest way?
Fastest way? a fiber channel SAN connecting the two machines to a common fiber-channel based storage array. Can't beat it for performance, but it comes at a cost (think $20K as a starting point, depending on the amount of storage you need).
Simplest way? Some external media (thumb drive, external hard drive, etc.) that you shuffle between the two machines
Intermediate: a NAS-based storage box on your network, although be aware that real-time editing of HD video can overwhelm many low-end NAS boxes.
