What is the Fieldpoint analog input interchannel skew time?

I need to know what the interchannel skew is on Fieldpoint analog input modules because I need to aquire samples fairly close in time to one another simily to the typical MIO PC-based card. Also, I am wondering if the aquisitions can be externally triggered.

The FieldPoint IO modules are designed to continually sample all (4/8/16) channels and write the data to shared memory. FieldPoint controllers then read the shared memory and make the data available to the user (serial/ethernet) or controlling program (RT). There are no provisions for external triggering of ADC conversions. Nor are there provisions to prevent the user from oversampling or undersampling the shared memory (e.g. the controller reads the shared memory 5 times in-between the ADC updating a channel). The interchannel skew can be determined by taking the IO Module All Channel Update Rate (e.g. 1.08 seconds for the FP-RTD-122)and dividing it by the total number of channels (e.g. 8 for the FP-RTD-122). Thus, the delay in between any two adjacent channels
is 135 ms for the FP-RTD-122.
Ultimately, FieldPoint was designed for single point measurements and not for waveform or simultaneous measurements. The capability for triggered, simultaneous or deterministically sampled readings is not currently available in the FieldPoint system.

Aaron

  • What are the 4 analog inputs of my umi-7764 (on the analog input terminal block)

I would like to known what are and how connect the 4 analog inputs of the anolog input terminal block of my umi-7764. I am french, so if you want to answer in french, it will be easier for me .

  • What is the needed analog inputs to UMI 7764

Do these signals need to be 0-10 V? +/- 10 V or what?

National Instruments motion controllers (and therefore the UMI), accept analog inputs in the -10 Volt to +10 Volt range. This means that your analog signal cannot exceed these voltage levels, but it can be anywhere within this range. You then specify the input voltage range over which the analog to digital converters (ADCs) will convert the input voltages to digital values, according to the voltage range returned by your analog signal. You can choose from any of the following ranges:
    0 to 5 V
    -5 to +5 V
    0 to 10 V
    -10 to 10 V (default)
Voltages outside of the range will clamp at the extreme values.
For more information on setting the range of your ADC channels in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX), please refer to the following tutorial:
Developer Zone Tutorial: ADC Settings for Motion Controllers
    Hope this helps!

  • HT1553 What is the best system for a real time cloud back up of documents?  My MacBook crashed, and I lost 2 hours of writing and could not find a way to restore it.

My MacBook Pro crashed while I was rewriting a book, lost more than an hour of work and could not find a way to restore it.  Did not have Time Machine set up, but it appears that Time Machine does not have Real Time back up and documents must be manually stored.
I need an automatic, real time back up to keep this from happening - I'm not happy my MacBook has crashed twice now.   What is the best cloud system for Real Time backup?   Thanks to anyone who can help me, I'm not the most astutde computer guy... James

One way would be to use Dropbox, or a similar sync service, and just keep your critical documents in the appropriate folder. Dropbox, at least, keeps a local copy of everything and syncs automatically to the cloud whenver a change is made. Dropbox is free for up to 2GB of data.
There are also true backup services such as CrashPlan+:
    http://www.crashplan.com/consumer/crashplan-plus.html
which provide automatic backups whenver a change is detected. It's not free, but usually such services aren't too expensive unless you need to back up a lot of data.

What is the best way to get a time capsule to work with a new network name?

Well it seems that you did not explain to us the full story.  Did you change ISP's or something? Why would it not show up anymore?
What colour is the light on the time-capsule? If it's blinking amber, then you probably need to do a factory-reset. That should get it to show up again in AirPort Utility.

what are the process are done in compile time?

if this process occur in runtime that's called
runtime polymorphismExactly. That's usually the case, especially with interfaces. I'm not entirely sure, but I think if you're calling final methods, those are statically linked because they can't be overridden anyway. I guess it saves a method table lookup at runtime.

There isn't any, the reason is TimeMachine is a backup of your entire boot drive, can be many gigabytes in size which Internet Service Providers only provide a fraction of upload speed compared to download speed so it makes online backups rather impractical for most.
You can share some files via a service like DropBox between remote computers, but to backup your whole system it's better to have it stored locally.
After all how can you restore your hard drive if OS X isn't running to get online?

Why is local storage better than offsite? I had a house that burned down and can tell you from experience that local backup was totally useless.

  • What is the raw video input source format for Compressor 4?

How do I import raw video as a source for Compressor 4.
For x264 I use .yuv or .y4m from ffmpeg.
Compressor doesn't recognize these raw video formats.

To clarify...  H.264 is a video compression standard used by both x264 (which is software) and Apple's Compressor 4 (software).  Compressor 4 will take as input a directory of still images and a variety of compressed video formats.  According to the documentation it also can ingest 8 bit YUV422 raw video and 10 bit YUV444 video. But these terms describe a color space and color sub-sampling scheme not the file format of the video file.  I'm looking for the a file format for the raw uncompressed video that Compressor will read.  I tried making a YUV422 format .mov file but Compressor didn't seem to like it.
BTW. Yes to David Brewer, x264 is better than Compressor 4 in every way (better quality, more compression, faster, cheaper). I'm trying to quantify how much better it is.  So I need to make sure they are getting the same raw input.

  • What is the best way to configure my time capsule if I just want to use it for storage?

I have a time capsule that I just want to use as backup storage - I don't need it for accessing the internet. What is the best way to set it up? I just tried and it seems to override my normal internet WLAN, which isn't what I want. If I re-insate the existing WLAN, presumably the backup won't happen automatically on the time capsule. Any insights very welcome!!
    Dave

To work as a backup location the TC has to be part of the existing network.
The best way to achieve that is to plug the TC into the existing modem router and put it in bridge mode.
Apple lately have tried to force people to use the TC as the main router.. and the setup via airport utility pushes you in that direction but it is wrong.
You bridge it and use it as storage.. that is fine.. Simply turn off the wireless if you prefer to use the existing wireless, although for Macs the TC will often work better and you can pick up internet through it at the same time.
With access by wireless you cannot have two separate networks. If you try to do that, then you will have one connection with internet and no backup.. and another connection for backup with no internet and be forced to swap between the two.. do not do this!!
You can even setup wireless as roaming.. so same name and security and password as your existing modem router.. and allow the computer to determine which is the best signal to join.

  • What is the reason for query take more time to execute

    Hi,
What is the reason for the query take more time inside procedure.
but if i execute that query alone then it excute within a minutes.
    query includes update and insert.

I have a insert and update query when I execute
without Procedure then that query execute faster but
If I execute inside procedure then It takes 2 hours
to execute.Put you watch 2 hours back and the problem will disappear.
do you understand what I want to say?I understood what you wanted to say and I understood you didn't understood what I said.
What does the procedure, what does the query, how can you say the query does the same as the procedure that takes longer. You didn't say anything useful to have an idea of what you're talking about.
Everyone knows what means that something is slower than something else, but it means nothing if you don't say what you're talking about.
To begin with something take a look at this
When your query takes too long ...
especially the part regarding the trace.

  • What is the command to display files full time information

what is the command to diaplay a file's full time information?
Iwant time as well as date.
ls -l some times gives time, but i want the year of modification as well.

Would you not be able to use ls -lu to see when the
file was last modified.No. -u explicitly asks for the access time, not modification time. And that does nothing to modify the time display format that the poster was asking about.
    $ man ls
-u Uses time of last access instead of last modification
for sorting (with the -t option) or printing (with the
    -l option).
You do need to have -atime specified when the
filesystem was mounted to allow access time updates
and sometimes this is switched off for better
performanceI'm not sure what that has to do with time display.

  • What are the fieldpoint basics? Have I understood correctly?

Sorry for being a complete newcomer on this subject.
I've got a bit of distributed I/O in a lab at work, and instead of cabling up PCI devices centrally from all over the room, I've begun thinking that a networked approach would be better. Of course I know of "Fieldpoint" as a topic within NI, but I've no experience of it whatsoever.
Am I correct in assuming that.....
Fieldpoint is a network-based distributed I/O architecture (Ethernet)?
Fieldbus is the communication protocoll used to communicate with Fielpoint controllers?
I need "LV Realtime" to be able to use Fieldpoint?
The individual host-controllers can be accessed from anywhere on the ethernet network?
How does Fieldpoint compare to a USB-based VXI or PXI solution. Aside from the USB/Ethernet differences which is clear to me. Which is easier to expand? Which is more flexible?
Sorry for the newcomer questions, but everyon's got to start somewhere.....
    Thanks
    Shane.
    Using LV 6.1 and 8.2.1 on W2k (SP4) and WXP (SP2)

Am I correct in assuming that.....
FieldPoint is a network-based distributed I/O architecture (Ethernet)?
Yes, FieldPoint is a distributed I/O architecture. It can be ethernet, serial (RS-232 or RS-485), CAN, or FieldBus based.
FieldBus is the communication protocol used to communicate with FieldPoint controllers?
No. The serial controllers use the Optomux protocol. The ethernet controllers use a custom protocol developed by National Instruments. The Fieldbus and CAN controllers use FieldBus and CAN messaging protocols, respectively.
I need "LV Realtime" to be able to use FieldPoint?
No. You can use FieldPoint modules over a network without LabVIEW Real-Time. To embed programs within the [c]FP-2xxx series of RT controllers, you will need LabVIEW RT.
The individual host-controllers can be accessed from anywhere on the ethernet network?
For the ethernet based controllers, assuming you have not enabled security, you can access them from anywhere on the same subnet. If you are on a different subnet, you will need to know the IP Address in advance to acquire data from them.
How does FieldPoint compare to a USB-based VXI or PXI solution. Aside from the USB/Ethernet differences which is clear to me. Which is easier to expand? Which is more flexible?
Generally speaking, FieldPoint is slower, but has better isolation and is more rugged. Additionally, FieldPoint is better as a mix and match system, but does not have the breadth of offerings of VXI/PXI. Furthermore, FieldPoint as an I/O system and not a DAQ system, does not offer deterministic sampling, triggering, or synchronization.

    Hi SigPhil,
The Max order to analyze control on the Color Map tab specifies the maximum order for which you want an accurate measurement of intensity. The Color Map displays more orders than you select because it uses the additional orders for internal calculations. You can look at the Developer Zone article Performing Order Analysis with the LabVIEW Order Analysis Toolkit for more information.
