What is the file structure for new iMovie for Mac?

Under the previous version of iMovie for Mac, iMovie stored my clips and finished projects in folders that I was able to create on my hard drive.  I have one folder named Events and another folder name Projects.  With the new version of iMovie for Mac (the one that came with OS X Mavericks), I see there now is a file named iMovie Library 2.imovielibrary on my hard drive.  Can someone explain how clips and projects are stored in the new iMovie versus the previous version of iMovie?  Is all my content now stored in the iMovie Library 2.imovielibrary folder?  The "date modified" on my previous Events and Projects folders shows 23 October, so it seems that the new iMovie no longer accesses those folders.  Sound correct?  Can I delete those old folders?  Thank you

Do you know why the file is named iMovie Library 2.imovielibrary?  Does the "2" imply there is another iMovie Library.imovielibrary file somewhere, without the "2"?  Can I rename the package file to iMovie Library.imovielibrary without the "2"?
I wouldn't rename any of the files that iMovie creates in the Finder. You're asking for trouble.
I think the reason for the "2" is that at some point iMovie encountered a folder already with that name.
Did you re-install iMovie version 10 or do anything else that may have been non-standard with your installation?

  • What is the folder structure for iTunes for Ver. 11.0.5

What is the folder structure for iTunes for Ver. 11.0.5 since I have iTunes on an external drive at the moment but want to move it back to the HD temporary so as to back it up to TM, the problem is that it seems that the files are some what disarranged and I'm not sure where and how iTune reads them.

Time Machine will back up connected external drives as long as they are not on the exclude list.
Connect the drive with your iTunes library > System Preferences > Time Machine > Options > if the external drive with the iTunes library is listed, select it and click the minus sign then run the Time Machine backup

  • What determines the file encoding for ${C:file.txt} = 'abc' ?

What determines the file encoding for
    ${C:file.txt} = 'abc'
I'm always getting ASCII as the encoding for file.txt after executing that assignment.

Thanks so much.   I'll keep looking for the MSFT doc on this.  I scanned Bruce Payette's book and did not find anything there.
It turns out to be one of those "by rote" things you have to learn about PowerShell.
My concern about the lack of documentation is that MSFT might change the underlying code in the future to use Unicode and that might break some existing code.  If there was some MSFT provided documentation declaring ASCII as the intended encoding they
might provide plenty of warning if they do a switch in encoding.
I note also that if you try to write characters outside the ASCII set (see example below) that character substitution happens to find an ASCII character to use in place of the one outside the ASCII set.  In the example below a 'v' is substituted for
    the '√' character:
    ${C:xo.txt} = '√'

    regards,
    S.Rajeshkumar

    Hi Rajesh,
You have to download and deploy the following through SDM (for NW04s/EP7),
    1. Business Package for MSS (contains roles, worksets for your Business Package)
    2. PCUI_GP (WebDynpro Component)
    3. SAP_MSS (WebDynpro Coponent - your MSS application files)
To use ESS and MSS in Conjunction, you also have to deploy Business Package for Common Parts.
Backend SAP systems should have SAP HR and SAP FIN configured.

  • What are the optimal values for mac and arp timeout values

    Hi Guys.
What are the best values for "mac address-table aging-time" and "arp timeout" by following scenarios?:
    - single sg300-10 as layer3-switch with a maximum of 10 local (direct connected) hosts
    - and a 3750x-stack with 100 local hosts + hsrp with a other stack of the same sort
or for asa 5520 as internet gateway for 500 clients?
I use at the moment a mac aging-time from 300 seconds and a arp timeout from 3600 seconds.
    Is this o.k.?
    Thanks.

    Marvel.
As far as enhancing the CLI, it will of course be enhanced when new firmware releases provide new features. As far as making it more IOS-like, best to my knowledge, no.  The only other supported CLI on the SB switches are on the SX500 series and SX200E series which the CLI are all consistent. If you bought a SX500 series the commands are nearly identical minus the different feature sets.

Mac's use a Unix based operating system and other controls that make it hostile for viruses to thrive.
However it's possible to carry Windows viruses to other Windows machines by a Mac, also there might be some corruption if your dealing with a lot of Windows files.
So all you really need is a scanner to run when you need it, something like the free ClamXav is good.
    http://www.clamxav.com/
Apple includes a anti-trojan/malicious program type anti-malware service built into all latest versions of OS X, it works and updates in the background.
There has been many attempts at trying to "trojan" or trick Mac users into installing rogue software on web pages. If you see soemthing like this, best to just Force Quit the browser by clicking on the Finder and selecting Force Quit from the menu.
A alternative browser like Firefox will offer more protection.
If you run your typical day to day operations on a Mac in what's called "Standard User", with a separate Admin User account, you'll need to update your Apple Menu > Software Update and your Apple Menu > System Preferences > Security > toggle the "Automatically Update Safe Downloads List" check box on/off about once a week.
Standard User provides more security restrictions, but is also designed not to intrude into those who are less capable use of the computer.
Third party plugins for your browser like Flash and Silverlight (used on Netflix) require a once a week check for updates.
Use a free service like the Mozilla browser check here:
    https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
Always back up your personal data and never install programs that your not 100% you trust the source of.
If you have any questions or suspicions, simply ask the opinions of the more senior users here on this forum.
Good advice is not to install any anti-virus like Norton that demands the operating system remain a consistent state. Apple changes things all the time, which breaks software like Norton or OS X itself when a Software Update occurs.
There are two great free 3D games, simply search for: Nexiuz Classic and Cube 2 Sauerbraten.
If this information helped you, please click "Helpful" or "Solved" thank you.
Good Luck and enjoy your Mac.

  • HT4949 what are the system requirements for mac os x 10.6 server?

what are the system requirements for mac os x 10.6 server?

While not 'intended', it is indeed possible on a portable. Exigent circumstances required me to re-role an aging MacBook Pro 2.16 Intel Core Duo to act as a server on a temporary basis.
It boots just fine from an external drive running Server 10.6.8. I also believe that installation (while not recommended) is not actually blocked.
Tip for the top: just be sure to pull the battery out of the laptop (assuming that's possible) to avoid turning your battery into a grossly distended, non-functional brick... they were not designed to be left on charge permanently!

  • HT5093 What is the file format for 3d files?

Recently I have downloaded Autofesk Inventor Fusion. I created some 3D models there. Now i want to insert it into iBooks Author. But i cannot find what file format I can use?

Collada DAE is the way to go.
The best way to start off is to export a simple box in the center of the world.
If that works, then apply a texture / transparency etc, one step at a time and and test at each single step.
Different exporters will have different levels of support for various features ( for 3DS Max, the in-built exporter was very limited ).
If your software doesnt have a DAE exporter, but can export to eg FBX, there are free converters for FBX to DAE.  The more steps in your chain to get 3D from your modeller onto the iPad, the more problems you may run into - also there is the time required for running those additional steps.

  • What is the file format for blobs stored for mds

Does anyone know what type of file is stored into the blobs for a saved search/layout for mds in the streamed docs table? It doesn't appear to be xml, and looking at the a text version of whats in there it looks like its java code, but it isn't quite that.
If anyone can point me in the right direction of being able to to turn the blob back into something human readable that would be great, as i would much rather be able to edit the blob than wipe out data.

The data storage format for MDS data, while you may be able to figure it out or guess what it is by looking at it, is not published as far as I know. The only APIs that are published (again, as far as I know) are [url http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/apirefs.1111/e14776/toc.htm]here
Editing the data is at your own risk. You could always try raising a request with https://support.oracle.com asking for details, but I wouldn't bet anything of value on receiving the data you're asking for.

  • What is the file extension for photoshop for the blanks following  the period in "photoshop,___"?    I have  an older desktop which includes older photoshop files which I have asked a technician to extract for me.  He asks for the extension.  I can't

I ned the extension for the photoshop program, that is, the letters following the period as shown by the blanks in this:  "photoshop.____"   I cannot find the extension in my laptop.  The photoshop program is a couple of years old and my files are in a desktop out of use for a couple years.  I brought the desktop to a technician, asking him to extract the photos.  He asks me for the file extension.

If you using Windows you can use the control panel Folder options or from Windows File explorer menu tools>Folder options view tab to change what Microsoft hide on you.  Have windows display extension. Apple hide information from users also.

  • What's the best camcorder for mac and quicktime or youtube?

    Aloha all,
Instead of iSight,,,, what is the best camcorder compatible for mac and transfering video to powerbook G4 and PPC G5 Quad and for use with youtube and or CitizenTube.... ?
I have a Canon SD 500 this should be enough because only can down load a max of 10mb to youtube. But I cannot use as a webcam to pass straight to computer which is fine,. Any Suggestions???
    Mahalo REID

    You're welcome, Reid
I was also wondering about microphones.
Which microphone you use is your decision based on what you want to do and the level of quality you need. As explained in this kBase document, you have a wide range of choices of connections:
      http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=165044
I use this Logitech USB Desktop Microphone for my iMovie voice-over, GarageBand podcasting, and other general purpose voice work. It works well for that, but it is obviously not a professional music quality mic.
if the mic ... hooks up to the digital ... or the analog audio input?
The simplest way to connect a mic to your G5 is via USB. That simplicity, adequate sound quality, and low price are the main reasons I chose my Logitech.
If you need a higher quality (and price) mic for more critical applications, this site offers more information about GarageBand, including this page about microphones.
... are there digital optical microphones for the digital in on the G5?
If there are, I would suggest you stay with analog microphones. I may be wrong, but from this Google search for digital microphones, it seems to me that digital microphones are largely subjects of engineering studies at this time. You might find a microphone pre-amp that takes analog microphone inputs but provides a digital output signal you could connect to your Mac's digital input if you really want or need to use your digital in port.
    Enjoy shopping,

  • What is the best utility for mac book pro 10.10.2

What is the best utility/ antivirus program for a mac book pro running 10.10.2.

    Drewski66 wrote:
What is the best utility/ antivirus program for a mac book pro running 10.10.2.
Nothing that is not already incorporated in OS X 10.10.2.
There will always be threats to your information security associated with using any Internet - connected communications tool:
You can mitigate those threats by following commonsense practices
Delegating that responsibility to software is an ineffective defense
Assuming that any product will protect you from those threats is a hazardous attitude that is likely to result in neglecting point #1 above.
OS X already includes everything it needs to protect itself from viruses and malware. Keep it that way with software updates from Apple.
A much better question is "how should I protect my Mac":
Never install any product that claims to "clean up", "speed up",  "optimize", "boost" or "accelerate" your Mac; to "wash" it, "tune" it, or to make it "shiny". Those claims are absurd.Such products are very aggressively marketed. They are all scams.
Never install pirated or "cracked" software, software obtained from dubious websites, or other questionable sources.
Illegally obtained software is almost certain to contain malware.
"Questionable sources" include but are not limited to spontaneously appearing web pages or popups, download hosting sites such as C net dot com, Softonic dot com, Soft pedia dot com, Download dot com, Mac Update dot com, or any other site whose revenue is primarily derived from junk product advertisements.
If you need to install software that isn't available from the Mac App Store, obtain it only from legitimate sources authorized by the software's developer.
Don’t supply your password in response to a popup window requesting it, unless you know what it is and the reason your credentials are required.
Don’t open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize, or click links contained in an email:
Most of these are scams that direct you to fraudulent sites that attempt to convince you to disclose personal information.
Such "phishing" attempts are the 21st century equivalent of a social exploit that has existed since the dawn of civilization. Don’t fall for it.
Apple will never ask you to reveal personal information in an email. If you receive an unexpected email from Apple saying your account will be closed unless you take immediate action, just ignore it. If your iCloud, iTunes, or App Store account becomes disabled for valid reasons, you will know when you try to buy something or log in to this support site, and are unable to.
Don’t install browser extensions unless you understand their purpose:Go to the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. If you see any extensions that you do not recognize or understand, simply click the Uninstall button and they will be gone.
Don’t install Java unless you are certain that you need it:
Java, a non-Apple product, is a potential vector for malware. If you are required to use Java, be mindful of that possibility.
Java can be disabled in System Preferences.
Despite its name JavaScript is unrelated to Java. No malware can infect your Mac through JavaScript. It’s OK to leave it enabled.
The same precaution applies to Adobe Flash Player. Newly discovered Flash vulnerabilities appear almost weekly.
Beware spontaneous popups: Safari menu > Preferences > Security > check "Block popup windows".
Popup windows are useful and required for some websites, but unsolicited popups are commonly used to deceive people into installing unwanted software they would never intentionally install.
Popups themselves cannot infect your Mac, but many contain resource-hungry code that will slow down Internet browsing.
If you ever receive a popup window indicating that your Mac is infected with some ick or that you won some prize, it is 100% fraudulent. Ignore it.
The same goes for a spontaneously appearing dialog insisting that you upgrade your video player right this instant. Such popups are frequently associated with sites that promise to deliver "free" movies or other copyrighted content that is not normally "free".
The more insistent it is that you upgrade or install something, the more likely it is to be a scam. Close the window or tab and forget it.
Ignore hyperventilating popular media outlets that thrive by promoting fear and discord with entertainment products arrogantly presented as "news". Learn what real threats actually exist and how to arm yourself against them:
The most serious threat to your data security is phishing. Most of these attempts are pathetic and are easily recognized, but that hasn't stopped prominent public figures from recently succumbing to this age-old scam.
OS X viruses do not exist, but intentionally malicious or poorly written code, created by either nefarious or inept individuals, is nothing new.
Never install something without first knowing what it is, what it does, how it works, and how to get rid of it when you don’t want it any more.
If you elect to use "anti-virus" software, familiarize yourself with its limitations and potential to cause adverse effects, and apply the principle immediately preceding this one.
Most such utilities will only slow down and destabilize your Mac while they look for viruses that do not exist, conveying no benefit whatsoever - other than to make you "feel good" about security, when you should actually be exercising sound judgment, derived from accurate knowledge, based on verifiable facts.
Do install updates from Apple as they become available. No one knows more about Macs and how to protect them than the company that builds them.
Summary: Use common sense and caution when you use your Mac, just like you would in any social context. There is no product, utility, or magic talisman that can protect you from all the evils of mankind.

  • What is the proper name for Mac OS? OS X? Apple Mac OS X?

It's a tad bit confusing for me since I am new to Apple.
What do you call it the true name for it?
    Apple Mac OS?
    OS X?
If I type in OS X It shows all the versions released form Apple.
Like in the snap shot below.
    http://i1157.photobucket.com/albums/p600/napninjanx/Snapshots/Untitled_zps2d1aa9 90.png
When I searched for MAC OS it did not show the versions of released OS X for Apple.
    Like in the snapshow below.
    http://i1157.photobucket.com/albums/p600/napninjanx/Snapshots/2_zpsbae85e49.png
But when I searched on eBay for Snow Leopard it showed the brand name
    http://i1157.photobucket.com/albums/p600/napninjanx/Snapshots/3_zpsbcb588ac.png
Then I thought going by brand name and model is the way to know the proper name for it.
I think the proper name for it is Apple Mac OS X that's how you type it in order to know other realses if I am not mistaken.

You can call it Mac OS X or OS X and others will know what you mean.
If you click the apple at the left side of the menu bar, About This Mac, you will see OS X so that is what Apple calls it.
