What is the "flagged" screen saver option

I'm hoping this is a way to have only specific iPhoto pics be used in the screen saver rather than all. But I haven't be able to figure out how to use the flagged option for a screensaver. If I click on the flagged option I get a message "The selected soruce contains no pictures. Please choose a new source that contains pictures or add images to the source." I'd love to do that, but how?

Thanks much for such a simple answer! I'd need the greyed out flag in iPhoto but didn't know what it was and hadn't used it. Now I learn about that and the flagged screen saver

If you used system cache cleaning software it can mess up Apple software. Stop using such software. Remove Mackeeper if present using these directions:

If you started typing something in the search field of the System Preferences, it might be hiding. Quit and reopen System Preferences to be sure it isn't hiding because it is searching for another panel.
Lastly, if none of the above apply, go to your hard drive -> System -> Library -> PreferencesPanes folder and see if it is hiding there. If it isn't, get your 10.5 installer disc that installed 10.5 on your Mac, and restore it with http://www.charlessoft.com/ 's Pacifist, and then run the 10.5.8 combo update to ensure the version matches the operating system.

IPhoto Metadata and the Collage Screen Saver

I'm loving the new screen savers that came with Leopard, and I like the collage screensaver. I have good information that I entered in the iPhoto "info" box for photo names and dates. However, when I turn on the "Annotated" option in Desktop & Screen Saver preferences, it only displays the original File name and date (some stupid names instead like "P1764670" instead of "Camping at Inks Lake"...and sometimes the original date on a photo was wrong, so I correct them)...Is there a way to make the Collage screensaver look at the data I've painstakingly entered into iPhoto? At the very least, is there a way to migrate the data from iPhoto to rename the files and dates of certain photos? Does iPhoto '08 offer a solution that iPhoto 6 does not?

The desktop image is fine, taken from the exact same pool of jpg photos. However, as soon as the slide show screen saver comes on, the images are scrambled. What is it about the apple screen saver algorithm that scrambles the pics?

Word of the Day Screen Saver--Press "D" Key

I have been using the "word of the day" screen saver that comes stock with Yosemite (10.10.2). When active, it will scroll words across stopping randomly on words and then provide the definition. Ok, so far. But it will also display a message with the definition to the effect of, "Press D key to see more". What is the intended result of this? When I press "D" it simply wakes up and returns to the Desktop.

Word of the Day has a button to select the dictionary to be used - the New Oxford American Dictionary and a Japanese dictionary were available options as well as "Automatic".

Yes, precisely. The crash of "word of the day" cannot be related to the Lion upgrade. Some other issue must be at fault. And to clarify and be specific "Apple" did not say it was not supported but rather one person working in customer support said "word of the day" was not supported - and since some of us Lion users having the screen saver work and only just now failing, that one person at Apple seems to have made an error in guessing what the problem is. Why keep discussing this? Because "word of the day" is a useful screen saver in an educational setting and it is worth the effort to fix it and restore it as a screen saver option. Hoping there is a fix soon.

Dave I'm glad to say that it works perfectly but I'm embarrassed to say that my 12 year old nephew hooked it up in about 10 minutes.
If you have the Kanex Mini DisplayPort cable it will work, what confused me was changing the display settings in System Preferences,
and dragging the mac screen from the mac onto the tv. Sorry I cant be more helpful but you have the right cable now you need a 12 year old nephew.

I missed the  logo screen saver.

Was searching high and low for the  logo screen saver but I'm restricted to Albums, Photos and Slideshow. Did I miss out anything? I prefer the simple screen saver because I don't want to light up my dark room with the rest of the screen saver options.

I got a cool trick. In iTunes > Apple TV > Summary tab, I chose *Custom Sync* and check the *Show only the synced items on my Apple TV*
Now when my Apple TV goes into screen saver mode, I get a black screen! Brilliant! Luv it.
By the way, I do not sync Music and Photos to my Apple TV. Music video image art doesn't show up in screen saver. My Apple TV is mainly for TV Shows and Movies.

Save As places the file inside a .mov container. No re-encoding.
Your still have the option to save this file as "self-contained" (all the parts travel with the file) or "reference" (small file sized movie that merely "points" to the movie parts).
A reference movie can't play if the source files can't be found. If they are moved or deleted the reference movie will fail and it can't be re-created.
Exporting is done to convert one QuickTime format to another. Typically you do this with a high quality source file. Exporting previously compressed files is a bad idea that leads to unpredictable results.
QuickTime doesn't open WMP formats without third party software help (Flip4Mac is one). You can't convert (export) WMP formats without paying extra fees to upgrade their software.

I maxed out the screen brightness before I clicked on "restore defaults" in system preferences> energy saver (which has to do with battery, not exactly screen brightness) to see if the screen went back to a "normal" brightness level, but it didn't. I don't think it restored the brightness to default..

NB -- I am doing this from memory, but isn't the Constraint (or limits in EAS' HBRs) just a way to reduce member selection scope even beyond security?
I think I have used this once as I generally design apps to rely on Planning member security and not add in an extra layer.

Select the drive in Disk Utility, click on the Erase or Partition tab, select the Format type: dropdown menu that will list your format options. For OS X the only option you should use is Mac OS Extended, Journaled. This is the standard format for OS X drives.
Then there are options for Windows - MSDOS (standard FAT format) or ExFAT (an advanced FAT system with most of the characteristics of NTFS.) OS X can read and write with either filesystem. NTFS is only readable, not writeable, by OS X.
