What is the hole above the camera?

Hi, what is the little hole we see 2 millimiters above the frontal camera of iPad 2?
Thank you, regards.

Probably the light sensor.

  • What cause the camera can't grab the image?

Is it because of the way we in store?
or what is the proper way to in store the Machine Vision Camera SI-M350 ?

Thank you for contacting National Instruments. In order to help you install the camera correctly and get your system, could you please provide a little more information about your system and camera:
    - Are you using a frame grabber board (such as a PCI or PXI device)?
    - Is this a firewire camera? USB?
One thing to be sure of is that you have the correct driver installed on your machine for the camera. If this is a standard analog or digital camera, then you will need to have NI-IMAQ installed. If the camera is digital, then you will also need the proper camera file (.icd file) installed on your computer. For firewire cameras, you will need a separate driver, NI-IMAQ for IEEE 1394, installed on your computer.
Again, please provide a little more information and
we will be able to help you more from there.

  • What is the camera video viewer called?

Does anyone know the name of the video viewer in the camera app?

Use the Photos app to view both photos and videos from your device's Camera Roll. Or you can tap at the bottom left of the screen, where your most recent picture is.

  • HT2090 What if the Camera is undetected?

Hey sorry to be a bother,
My camera was working excellent, and was really happy and impressed my the photo booth (camera whore was the term they gave me). But three weeks and my camera stopped working! I tried to restart, update, and configure my setting to see if those were the issues but it was not it
PLEASE I do not want to pay anymore money and turn this mac in to repair my camera, is there any solution you can give me to resolve this problem?
    Thank you very much!

    No bother.
    (1) If you have not already done so, restart Mac and try again.
If the iSight still does not work, and if you are convinced that none of Apple's suggestions from  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 help you, (for example, are you certain that you used the correct "reset" procedure?), yours is most likely a  hardware problem that will require a professional fix.  I know that is not the answer you want, but sometimes reality happens.
Unless you have a current backup, make one now.
Then use the final "Troubleshoot iSight" suggestion:
"... contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service."
If you bought locally, your retailer may be able to help you.
If you want to try on-line help, use http://expresslane.apple.com/GetproductgroupList.do
    (2) If you want to try one more thing on your own first, use Disk Utility to repair permissions.  Then download and apply the latest Combo Update for your Mac OS.
The latest current 10.7 Combo is here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1459
The latest current 10.6 Combo: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
Repair permissions again immediately following the system restart that completes the Combo update.
Properly applying the Combo version of updates can sometimes correct problems with software, but hardware problems require help from an Apple technician because there are no user serviceable parts for iSight.

  • What does "Camera Profile" mean in the Camera Calibration tab in PSE 12?

I recently made the switch to edit exclusively in Photoshop Elements 12. I need help understanding what I need to select for the "Camera Profile" drop down in the Camera Calibration tab. I shoot with a Canon Mark II. Will the camera profile selection affect my prints at all? First, what does the camera profile mean? I go back and forth between Adobe Standard and Camera Standard. Sometimes I get truer color with Camera Standard than the Adobe Standard for my outside photos. I'm so confused as to which one I should be editing with. I just want to be sure this is not going to affect my prints because I just recently ordered a print from Millers and it was saturated, shadowing and skin had orange tone. I have never had a problem with my calibration and have always ordered from Millers with no problem. This is the first print I ordered after editing exclusively with PSE 12 so I'm wondering if I have setting wrong. Thanks so much!

Will the camera profile selection affect my prints at all?
It will affect prints to the same extent that it affects the monitor display, but no more than that. The differences that you see in color rendering when switching between profiles will be embodied in the jpg that you eventually make for sending to the print lab, but will not in itself cause the discrepancies you describe.

  • Is it possible to make an object to always face the camera (in 3d)?

I have an animation with a camera flying through a map in 3D.
Is it possible to make all my texts layers automatically "face" the camera, no matter what movement the camera makes in 3d?
    Thanks in advance,
    Morimitsu Yamauchi

Sure, just use the Basic Motion > Point At behavior and make the camera the target. You'll need to tweak the settings a bit.

  • What are the scrolling arrows above the camera icon in the lower right side of the screen?

When locked, there is a series of scrolling arrows above the camera icon.  What is this?

    Well.  That makes sense.
(I'm in a nefarious divorce and was concerned it was some sort of data backup going on.)
    Thanks!

  • What is the thing called that is above the iPad camera.

On my iPad when I look closely right above the camera on the side where the screen is there is this thing that looks like a speaker in a circle shape. Does anyone know what it is?

Are you sure your Speck cover supports the "smart cover" feature? If so, you may need to talk to Speck about the problem, though a restart of the iPad may help. If not, see if you can find a genuine Apple cover to try. If that works, then the problem is almost certainly with the Speck product.
    Regards.

  • What is the new hole on the face of the iPhone 4S for?

Above the screen of an iPhone 4 you find a long horizontal hole used as a speaker to place next to your ear.  The iPhone 4S has an additional horizontal hole above the "ear speaker".  What is this new hole for?
Wild guess..  A second microphone for noise cancellation (so Siri or the person you are speaking to can hear better in a noisy place)?
In any case.. (a pun) you might want to avoid buying an iPhone screen film cover that doesn't have the new cutout for the new hole

I don't see a "hole" on the black iPhone 4s images on the Apple web site. Best guess is that this is not a hole but a sensor of some kind (proximity, light level, whatever). I don't expect a screen shield to significantly impact it's functionality.

My camera is not working properly. It often gets stuck or says " camera not available" and if I take video via manual mode it gets stuck with a photo but the video is being taken. What's the problem?

You are talking to fellow users on these forums, not iTunes Support or Apple - I've asked the hosts to remove your phone number from your post.
For the Camera app, try closing it via the taskbar and see if it works when you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Camera app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar at the bottom of the iPad's screen, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Camera app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't fix it then try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
In terms of syncing, you will need iTunes on your computer - if you haven't already downloaded it then you can do so from here : http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
You can conncet the iPad to your computer and select it on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (you can enable the sidebar on iTunes 11 on a PC via control-S), and use the tabs on the right-hand side of the iTunes screen to sycn your content to the iPad.

For the excel file, what app are you viewing/editing it in ? If the values are different then it may be that the app that you are using doesn't support all the formulas that are being used in the spreadsheet. Apps that 'support' excel documents include Apple's Numbers app, and from third-parties apps such as Documents To Go ('premium' version) and QuickOffice Pro HD.

  • What is the difference in PS E12 between 'File Open' and 'File Open in Camera Raw' ?

Both routes launch a screen saying Camera Raw 8.3 - Canon EOS 5D Mark III?
Likewise on this screen there is 'Cancel' and 'Done' Buttons', what is the difference both close that screen.
I am assuming the 'Done' Buttons saves any manipulation of exposure or colours you may have made? and the 'Cancel' just forgets them?
Is there a manual for this product; that one can reference, screen by screen? explaining what each option actually does.

If you are opening a raw file (.CR2), both routes are identical, because you have to convert raw files in ACR anyway.
If you are opening a jpeg file, you can open the file directly in the Elements Editor (Open),
    or
you can open it the the ACR module. The dialog is the same (or nearly) as for raw files, with the same sliders and features, including some you don't find in the editor : clarity, advanced denoising...
There are advantages in opening jpegs in ACR, especially because ACR works internally in 16 bits and in a wider color gamut. Very important for me is the fact that the ACR modules saves its edits as 'recipees' in the metadata section of the jpeg files, without changing any pixel value of the original.

Cancel does cancel every edit you have started. You are back to the original file.
'Done' saves your edits, as you rightly assume.
'Open' saves the edits and send them to the editor for further editing if you want, for local retouch or using layers for instance.
'Alt Open' does not saves the edits, but sends the edited result to the editor.
'Save' is only used if you wish to convert the raw files to the DNG format.

  • I dropped my iPhone 4S in the toilet. Now it won't shut off and the camera light stays on. What should I do?

I dropped my iPhone 4S in the toilet. I dried it and shook out as much water as I could. I removed the SD card and put everything in a bowl of rice. It is still in there and everything appears to be working normally, but it won't shut off and the camera light stays on. I've tried the restart thing where you press and hold the pwr button and the home button. What should I do?

What model iPod do you have? If yo have a 2G iPod. many developers when they updated their apps to support iOS 5 and 6 dropped compatibility for iOS 4.2.1 and earlier.
