What is the latest on the iPhone 5 can't-find-the-wifi disease?
Just bought my brand New iPhone 5; my first iPhone ever. I have successfully used wifi at home and at work and now I am at a hotel where the wifi is open, my macbook sees the wifi and can connect and iPhone can't find it. Why is this and what may I do? This is a drag.

My iPhone 5 can't ever find my wifi in my house unless I'm like 5-10 feet from it. I bought the iPhone 5 from Apple's site and my carrier is AT&T? My iPhone 3G's wifi was hands down better than the 5's. Apple needs to get their customers the solution ASAP because everyone will blow through their data plans.
Lawrence, I wish it were so simple. Many of us have tried everything you have suggested and much more. I have even tried two other routers at home. My phone connects to public wifi fine - have tried 3 so far with no problems. Even on my home router, if I remove security, no good. I read that ipv6 is necessary, and one of my routers does support that, but still no luck. The phone started out OK, with a small glitch that I though iOS 6.0.2 would fix. The glitch was slow throughput and failure to connect automatically to known networks, along with dropping the wifi connection when charging and sleeping. My big problems started after connecting through a range extender at home, but I've chased enough coincindental red herrings to feel that is not the issue. If it were, then changing my home router would have fixed it, or there is a serious software bug in the OS. I'm just not going to waste any more time on it. Hoping a replacement will do the trick, but I've also read that many replacements fail. Somewhere, I saw that up to 60% of iPhone 5's are having wifi issues. Can't remember where, but am looking for it. Meanwhile, ZD Net is reporting on it too. The scariest symptom I've encountered is that a few times, after resetting network settings, the "Join" button was disabled. Go figure.

All of a sudden (after completing uploading ios5) my iphone 4 stopped recognizing my wifi airport? It recognizes it and prompts me to enter password..then never connects, asks to resubmit password (Which I know is right as I have my ipad and 2 macbooks running just fine on the wifi as I type)
I have tried hard reboot and even did a restore with no sucess?My brother had the same problem with his 4s yesterday , even though my iPhone 4 was fine with wifi. He reset our home wifi / router and it fixed his problem . Worth a shot...

Hi, all. I've been having intermittent problems for the last month at least (maybe two months) where for no apparent reason, my iPhone 4 can't find any wifi networks. I've been updating my phone as soon my Macbook Air tells me a new iOS version has come out, and I'm currently running 5.0.1 I have found that 100% of the time, if I reboot the phone, it can find wifi immediately upon restart. Sometimes I'll go a week or two without the problem; other times it recurs within four days.
Any ideas for solving this issue would be greatly appreciated!
SandyUnfortunately, I had to reboot the phone last night, so resetting the network settings did not solve my problem.

When you say it "can not scan any wifi network" do you mean it is not detecting Wi-Fi networks?
Is Wi-Fi turned on in Settings > General > Wi-Fi?
Have you tried Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings?
Is it just the home network that the device will not connect to? or any network? -

I have accidently deleted safari from my iphone and can't find it to put it back. I did it ages ago as I didn't know what it was and I was trying to create extra space! Now when I click on a link say in an email, it doesn't come up with a browser. I have looked at the apple site but can only see a download for mac users. Not sure if this is the case because it is preinstalled on the iphone.

What does the wifi symbol on the bottom left of photos in iPhoto signify? I believe that whatever this signifies is preventing me from syncing an album with my iPad and iPhone.
It means the Photos are not in your Library but instead read from an online source.

Photos taken by the iPhone, like any digital camera, should have been uploaded to your computer for safe keeping. Certainly before a major operation like a software update that wipes your phone in the process of updating. If they weren't, and they are not currently on your phone, then they're gone. You can try restoring from a recent backup, but any photos taken between the last backup and the present time will be gone.

The Bluetooth low energy protocol is not backward compatible with classic Bluetooth protocol.

You are correct, Blue tooth low engergy, BTLE.(only) devices are not backward compatible with Classic bluetooth and cannot connect.
However the Apple 4S and above have Bluetooth 4.0 support.. Hardware wise it has bothClassic Bluetooth, like the 3GS, as well as Bluetooth Low Energy. There is no good reason why your 4s cannot communicate to your Sony in-dash player using the Classic bluetooth that resides in the 4S.
I know that this does not answer the why it does not work, but it should work. Do you have to somehow re-pair the new phone up to the player? Not knowing the model of the Sony it is hard to investigate.
And I hate to ask but are you sure that the Bluetooth radio is on in the phone?

If the application supported auto-save, yes, if not, then no.
If you were creating a mail message, it might be in the drafts folder of the e-mail program.
What evidence do you have the computer restarted itself? Did the Apple logo come up? -

There is an app I want to purchase for my iphone , but can't find it on the app store from my MacBook Pro. I have credit on the Mac Book, but can't see it from iphone.
Are you checking from within the Apps section of iTunes on your computer? Is there a reason you can't download it directly to the iPhone?

After I connect my iPhone (3GS 5.0.1) to any Ad-hoc wireless Network then walk away out of the reach of my wifi network, my iPhone can't find any wifi Network afterwards, only by turning off the iPhone completely and turning on again.
switching off wifi and on again or going into airplane mode did't help!
This problem happens only with ad-hoc wifi networks not with normal ones.

Sorry, but the 169.x.x.x IP address is internally generated by the iPod (and iPhone) and indicates that a network has been detected but no IP address has been issued. Your friends iPhone was not connected to your ad hoc network either - it connected to the internet through the 3G network.
You should read through the Vista help screens on ad hoc networking for some insight how this works. You should be able to get some ideas there.
In the mean time, $40 or less will buy you a very capable wireless router with four Ethernet ports and will simplify your network tremendously. Having used Windows ICS for a long time, the addition of a router and a real network simplified things so much.
