The minimum trigger hold-off time for the NI PXI/PCI-5124 is 2 us with TDC disabled and 10 us with TDC enabled.

Trigger hold off

I've just recieved the Virtualbench for a demo/loan and setup to look at a serial data stream. I ran into the problem of the trigger not holding a stable position, it would trigger on any edge in the stream instead of the starting edge. Usually, I would set the Oscope to a hold off period slightly longer then my data stream, but I can't figure out how or if this is possible with the VirtualBench. I've tried setting it up using both the digital and analog MSO inputs and both behave the same. I've looked the LabVIEW API and didn't see anything either.
Does anyone knows how or if it's possible to do something like this? Note: the data stream packets last ~50usec, transmitted every 100-300uSec. If I slow down the transmit rate I don't have a problem with the trigger.

Hi Ryan,
Pre-trigger time is a similar idea to hold-off in the VirtualBench API. After starting an acquisition, the MSO hardware ignores trigger conditions for the pre-trigger time.
In the LabVIEW API, you can control it directly. It's an input to "MSO Configure Timing".
In the application, you can control it by moving the trigger position on the screen (to the right is more pre-trigger time). In the application, the amount of pre-trigger time is based on the time per divison as well, so if you want an exact number like 50uS, it might be easier to set it through the LabVIEW API.

For all waiting on your preorders- I preordered mine Sept. 5th about 5 hours after the announcement (engraved, standard shipping). It was shipped Sept. 19th and was delivered to my house at 10am today (Sept. 20th), despite having an estimated delivery date of Sept. 21st. As noted in another post, they seem to be coming out of Kunshan, China and then Shanghai and Anchorage, Alaska. Mine might have arrived a day early because Indianapolis is a major FedEx hub and there is a direct flight from Anchorage to Indy. Suspect many will get their Touch models today and tomorrow.

Simple on/off timer for LV 7.0

Hello All
I am a novice trying to use LV 7.0 to control a relay with a digital i/o port of a NI 6008 usb device.
I would like to be able to set the "on time" and "off time" of this relay independantly. Example: 20min on and 5 min off and repeat in a loop until intervals are changed. I found examples done in later versions of LV than I have.....
Any input would be GREAT!!

First of all, check the current drain and voltage of the relay you are driving. Compare to the specs of the DIO device. If the relay draws too much current, you could damage the DIO. In this case, you would need a driver circuit. If the relay is not a 5 volt relay, you would need a driver circuit. A driver can be built with a ULN2003 IC.
For software, write your code to set the DIO output high (or low, whatever turns the relay on). Then create flat sequence structure that just has a time delay in it. Set the delay to whatever you want. Next, change the DIO output, and then another timer. Put the whole thing in a while loop to repeat, with a stop button to stop it. Be aware that the stop button will not stop the loop until the entire sequence of events inside the loop have finished executing.

IOS 4.0.1: Hold off on for now?

After reading Friday of the release of iOS 4.0.1, I thought I'd download it untilI read of some having problems after downloading it. Should I wait, especially since i am out of town away from my (and any) Mac?
Is it suppose to solve anything besides the size and accuracy of the signal bars?

First off, post in the 3GS forum, NOT the iP4 forum.
Second, go grab something that connects into the dock (car dock, etc.), a can of compressed air, and some headphones.
Spray the heck out of the headphone jack and dock port with the compressed air. Like literally, blow the @$$ gas of God into it with the compressed air.
Next, plug the headphones in, and keep them in for a second, then unplug, plug back in, pretty much, get the headphone jack jacked off on your phone.
Then, do the same with the dock connector, but make sure it pops that message up before you unplug.
Then turn the phone off, then back on. Finally, hold the power and home key down until you see the Apple logo. Hopefully this should fix your issue.

What is the best way to scale Red footage in FCX?

Hi everyone,
I'm currently editing a feature film in Final Cut X Pro (10.0.9). I've edited on FCX in the past, but this is my first feature project with it. The feature was shot on two cameras. Camera A was a Red Epic (5K). Camera B was a Red Scarlet (4K). An assistant editor was in charge of getting the project set up. I'm the co-director, so I didn't come on board the edit until a few weeks after he had everything imported, in sync, and properly structured in keyword folders per scene number. The guy did a great job and organized the **** out of everything. He then cut a few assemblies for us.
Now I'm working on it on my own and it's been going great, but I have two questions which have dogged me:
1. There's been a handful of shots I've wanted to enlarge / scale / zoom-in on. A good example is a medium shot, which I prefer to now be a CU of the actor's face. The way I've been doing this up until now, is by selecting the clip in the timeline, going to the Video inspector window in the top right, and changing the Scale percentage. I usually find though that, if I go beyond 150%, I lose a lot of quality. Now, at first I thought this was just because I was using Proxy Media (only for Playback) in my edit. So I did a test and opened the same clip in a separate project reel. I then scaled the clip again to 175% but de-selected 'Use Proxy media for Playback.' So in essence, I did an 'online' to see the raw media in my timeline. And after doing this, the scaled clip's quality definitely improved. But not enough to give me the confidence to do this often throughout the film.
So my question is, is there a better / smarter way to do this? I've been reading PDFs lately about tbe best practices for a Red workflow with FCX. And I see that they recommend making tweaks to files using the 'RED Raw Settings Control.' I confess, I've never dabbled with this. To me, any sort of RED tweaking will happen during the mastering phase. Not during the basic edit. But would this option be better for scaling clips? Or is scaling clips something I should hold off on for now and do in the more final stages of mastering.
2. This second question sort of ties into my basic Project Property settings. So first, a recap of the workflow we used to get the project into FCX:
- Imported all RED Raw footage from both cameras.
- Synced up audio and multi-cam clips.
- Playback settings are 'Use proxy media.' (no Optimized media was created and as far as I know now, Optimized / Proxy media wasn't creating during Import, nor were Import folders / keyword collections created at that point.)
Now, when I look at my Project Properties, it says my 'Video Properties' are in 5K. And my Render Format is Apple ProRes 422 (Proxy). So the way I read that, any straight up Export I do of the default video file is going to be 5K. That includes any sort of Apple ProRes export.
So is this correct? Even though I'm viewing my reel as a Proxy for Playback, is it okay that my Project Properites video size is still 5K? Or should've that been changed to 1080p before I did any editing on this project? Is the 5K project setting slowing me down? Or adding on more time to my Vimeo Shares and straight Exports?
I know I'm asking a lot of questions here, so perhaps it will be easier if someone can explain what their workflow is with 5K footage in 5K. We're doing a small screening of the rough cut tonight for friends and I wanted to export an Apple ProRes 422, but it's like 300GB big! So it seems the only option I have is to use the Apple Devices preset and export an H.264.

What Luis said: set the project to 4k or smaller .... whatever is good enough for the output you require. Editing in 5k already requires you to upscale the 4k footage.
The RED Raw settings have nothing to do with the scaling. They are meant to dial in white balance, color, saturation and other parameters.

Wether the 5k project is slowing you down depends on the specs of your hardware. Do you intend the output to be 1080? Then your scaling problems are over.

Apart from what usasapsd usasapsd mentioned, you need to maintain working hours and assign them to the Factory calendar and/or Shipping Point.

Creative X-Mod Volume Knob Doesn't Work *Time for Creative to fix th

Just bought a Creative X-Mod and it works well except one thing.
When I turn the Volumeknob the volume doesn't go up and down, neither does it Mute when I press it. Everything else seems to be working with it so I can't figure out whats wrong.
. Have tested on my laptop too and there it works.
2. Have updated everything, including motherboard drivers.
3. Have searched the forums and there are some threads about this problem but no solution.
4. Have tried diffrent USB ports.
So whats wrong? Seems like it's time for a solution to be honest.

Bump and update.
Have now pretty much gone through every USB port and all drivers which could have any impact on the X-mod. Nothing.
Creative Support seems to know nothing as well.
The one guy on the forums who claimed to have a fix doesn't answer PMs.
If Creative doesn't get on top of this it's going back to the store.

- Try a reset. Nothing is lost:

Same thing happened to me today. I wasn't even using the phone for the past 6 hours and suddenly I can't connect to the internet, none of my internet apps would work - nothing. I tried to call AT&T from the iphone and it locked up - couldn't turn it off, change to the home screen - nada - brick.
Did the Home/Power button thing and that worked but this I've only had this phone for about 4 weeks and it's locked up more times than my 3GS did the whole two years I had it! Ridiculous

Doing those doesn't turn off your phone?
As stated hold down the top button only until you see the red slider to power off your phone.
If that doesn't work then take it to Apple and see what they say.

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
