What is the optimal cel size?

I'm working with a program called Natural Scene Designer Pro v5.0 which allows the user to create a series of still rendered ray tracings into an animated AVI. I would like to edit these AVI clips in Premiere Elements 10, but before going terribly far into this project, I was curious about a couple of things.
What is the optimal cel size that I should instruct NSD to produce that will most satisfy Premiere Elements?
What are the optimal Project Settings in PE10 that should be used in editing this type of "footage" ?
Initial tests have been done at 320:240 @ 30fps (which does not appear to be supported in PE10 amongst its presets), but eventually, I'd like to make things as large as is practical and for the broadest audience.
It has been several years since I played around with things like this... which then were on another Windows machine and Premiere Elements 2. I need to get reacquainted with Premiere Elements and version 10 looks a little more mature and myself, more gray
Thank you very much for any replies.
Kind regards,
Kelly

Kelly,
Thank you for that clarification. I had mis-read, above, and thought that it WAS an MS CODEC pack.
The problem with too many CODEC packs is that they often install "stuff," besides the CODEC's, and some of that stuff is not good for a Video editing computer. Also, many (most?) of the CODEC's installed are hacked, or reverse-engineered versions, and will often overwrite good, commercial CODEC's, that are installed. This is why Adobe hides its Adobe MainConcept CODEC's - so that other programs cannot overwrite them. However, their "priority" is still vulnerable, and many CODEC packs will change that priority in the Registry, so that its CODEC's are chosen first, by the system.
I am a big fan of the Lagarith Lossless CODEC, when using intermediate files. The same for another one, UT Lossless. They DO compress, but at a lossless level, i.e. the quality stays the same. Two others that I like are both Apple QuickTime CODEC's, Animation and Photo-PNG, which are also lossless. However, on my PC, either the Lagarith, or the UT are my first choices. Both of those are wrapped in the AVI format, where the two QT CODEC's are wrapped in the MOV format. [I buy 3D work from several artists, who are on Mac's, and specify the MOV Animation CODEC. Those have always worked 100% on my PC.]
Now, I see that you have FFDShow installed. One power-user here, Neale, installed that, at the direction of Adobe Technical Support, and all has been great for him. However, and especially in the PrPro Forum, many users have experienced very bad things with it, and for most, PrPro would not even run. Uninstalling that CODEC has proved very difficult, and some have had to wipe their HDD, and reinstall everything from scratch. I shudder, when mention is made of it, BUT Neale has had zero issues, and its installation DID fix a problem, that he had. I avoid it, but that is my personal choice.
Now, back to the Lagarith Lossless CODEC. One issue with some CODEC packs is that what they install is not even close to the latest version of a particular CODEC. Some are very, very old versions. Before I did much work with the Lagarith, I would check out their site, and compare version numbers, between the one installed with the CODEC pack, and what is currently the newest version. It, like the UT Lossless, is free, so it would cost nothing to install the latest version, if you did not get that one. This article goes into a bit more info on Lagarith and UT: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/875797?tstart=0
Hope that helps, and thank you for all of the info that you have provided, and for your patience.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Adobe SendNow - What is the optimal size for custom logos?

I just tried to upload a custom logo (800x200) and it seemed to be stuck up in the top left corner, with a large amount of blank white screen.
What is the optimal size for this please, and how do I centre a smaller logo?
It is of course entirely possible I will need to make one in PS - not a problem - but the right sizes would be helpful info please.
    Many Thanks

That is what I read too - but when I uploaded one it got tucked up in the top left corner of the "custom" setup thumbnail.
Perhaps it is just a glitch in that dialogue, but it certainly looked as if there was a raft of space to the right & underneath.
Still, probably Pilot Error so I will recheck - thank you Dave.

  • X 86 hardware components - what is the optimal choice ?

    hello
If I have to assemble a desktop with the purpose of installing solaris 10, what is the hardware that I need to buy ? The hardware list is a little difficult to understand because it does not specify a processor.
i want to use AMD / Intel processor, preferably dual core, what model numbers are most suitable for solaris 10 trouble free installation ?
What are the motherboards that support that processor ?
Do I have to be choosy about the harddrive ?
Does Solaris 10 require a specific type of RAM ?
Does it require a specific type of DVD+ R/W drive ?
It is not meant to be a mutliple o/s system. It is meant to be a solaris 10 only desktop, with minimal applications such as brwosing, email and star office...
Can the forum guide me on this ?

....it really doesn't provide me with info as to what is the optimal size/resolution of images to import, ...
    I did, I think:
optimal in terms of 'fit' for a fullHD project is 1920x1080
optimal in terms of 'fit' for a 720p project is 1280x720
optimal in terms of 'fit' for a SDef project (final delivery DVD) is 720x480
optimal for a project with maximum wide Ken Burns panning is 10.000x6.000 (=KB allows a max factor of 5x)
optimal in terms of compression is as little compression on import as possible - a .raw photo file converted to .tiff or .png with some hilarious MBs of data
optimal in terms of handy is a 2k res photo as jpg with 2-5Mbs (just a rule of thumb)
optimal in terms of processing in iMovie is 8bit compression, optimal in terms of quality is 10-12bit compression (no idea wether iM supports that)...
=> there is no SINGLE answer because there are several 'optimums' ....
the resolution should be close to your  videos res.
if you add Ken Burns, multiply
doesn't care for dpi - that is for print only
avoid CMYK codecs, video is RGB only
iMovie supports alpha only in png
avoid too much compression BEFORE import - lots of MB is good. Lots of jpg to jpg to jpg generations is not good.
and so on, and so on........

  • What is the max file size that a Adapter Engine [J2SE] can handle ?

We are having a scenario where a 4 GB compressed file needs to be sent across without mapping, I'm trying to explore the possible options to tackle this scenario.
Some of the options, we are considering :
    - Sending a file from one Adapter Engine [J2SE] to another Adapter Engine [J2SE] bypassing PI. Adapter Logs will be monitored. What is the maximum file size that can be then handled assuming a standard installation ?
    - What is the max file size that Adapter Engine [J2SE] can send through PI without mapping?
Any help with the above options or with any other possible solutions to handle extremely large file transfers will be much appreciated.

    Hi,
j2se is not a good option here
if you have 4gb then you need a copy solution
    a) build an proxy that will just copy the file from sender dest to receiver
    b) build an adapter that will do the same as proxy)
this way processing of this message will be controlled with SAP PI/XI
it will be as quick as copy & paste of the 4gb file
I did the a) for one of the flow for 300 mb and it works perfectly

  • What's the FPGA step size and how to calculate it?

    Hi there,
I inherited an vi with problem in it. It's basically reading the binary file then display it. So the vi reads the binary file by using Read From Binary File, the output data from this function then sends to FPGA after multiply a number (32767/10). But unfortunately I got a wrong output. The final output value for some reasons looks got attenuated. People told me maybe it's related to the FPGA step size, so I want to know what is the FPGA step size and how to calculate it. Can someone answer my questions here?
    Thanks in advanced!!!

    Hi Weny,
It sounds like you are trying to find out the output resolution of your FPGA module.  It would be helpful if you provided what FPGA module you are using in your tests so we know what information to provide.  For instance, the R Series Manual provides information on how to calculate the required DAC output code to generate the desired output voltage.  You should also try to keep the accuracy of your device in mind.  The analog output signal you are generating will be subject to gain, offset, and noise errors.  You can use the specifications sheet (such as the R Series Specifications) of your device to determine what accuracy your board will have.  The specs also provide information on the resolution of the board.  You can search ni.com for the manual and specifications for your particular device if you are not using R Series.

  • What is the best image size format for imovie iOS

I want to create a few black images with white letters as title slides and use them with some of my videos I am creating using imovie with my new ipad3.
What is the best image size?
    thanks!
    Jeremy

It all depends on what you want to do with the images.
If you don't want to do any moves on the images then make them the exact size of the video.
The iPad 3 edits in full HD, 1920 x 1080.
If you want to do small moves, then make is larger.
But keep the 1920 x 1080 dimensions otherwise iMovie just chops the image to that ratio.
    good luck

  • What are the optimal hardware specification requirements for Adobe Photoshop CS6?

Greetings to the staff and users of this forum,
As the title clearly stipulates, the question is "What are the optimal hardware specification requirements for Adobe Photoshop CS6?".
Unfortunately, I am not satisfied with the specs specified on the website, as I believe they are far lesser than the specs needed to run the program at its full potential. This belief comes from my experience with the product Adobe Photoshop CS2 that I currently run on my computer. In effect, Ps CS2 cannot fully run without inducing time lags on my computer (i.e. when using 500 pix diameter smudge tool/ using liquify gallery), even though my specs are already higher than those specified for CS6 (mine are: Intel Core 2 Duo 6300 1.86 GHz, 3 GB RAM). I can assure you that I get those time lags even when almost in safe mode (only system main processes running) and that my computer is clean from any process/virus that could lower its performances.
I've been through two chat rooms and four telephone operators to always get the same answer: the specs on the website.
If any user here could provide me with proper higher specs, I would really be grateful.
    Thanks,
    phdwengr

  • What is the maximum file size Flash Catalyst beta 2 can import?

I have designed the webpage in Illustrator cs2 and tried to import to Flash Catalyst beta 2 (FC), however it does not respond to me at all. I think maybe my AI file size is too big. Therefore I reduced my AI file down to 1 page only and now FC has no problem importing my file. I would like to know what is the maximum file size that FC beta 2 can import? thanks

In beta1 I believe the max size was 15megs, I am not 100% for Beta2 but I doubt they would have changed the amount.
I created an online menu for a fake restraunt for fun, the file was quite large with the high-res photos in it. How I got the whole file into Catalyst from Photoshop is I removed the large background images and then imported them individually into the Catalyst project.
    Hope that helped
