What is the OS for a macbook pro

I have bought a used Macbook Pro with the serial number of W8*****GQL. What is the os that came with it? Currently it has no os.

It most likely came pre-installed with OS X 10.6.x (Snow Leopard). However, it may have also qualified for a firmware update to add Internet Recovery. If so AND you purchased OS X Lion at some point in time, you might be able to restart into Internet Recovery (command+Option+R) until you see a spinning globe and Reinstall OS X Lion. Otherwise, you may have to call Apple and order a Snow Leopard DVD for your model.
It's too bad where ever or whoever you bought the MBP from didn't reinstall the factory OS and give you the disks that came with it.
