What is the page /_layouts/inplview.aspx?
I am reviewing our web analytics on 2010 and notice that /_layouts/inplview.aspx tends to be at or new the top of the 'Top pages' rankings. It seems to be related to some views in libraries.
I am looking for a better explanation of what it is and why it is showing up on the stats. Ive seen where its related to group views but we utilize folders in our environment.

This page is really an API and not an end user's web page.
The list view webpart has the ability to page, sort columns and filter some values. When this happens, there is an AJAX call to the inplview.aspx and returns a JSON based result set. That is the rows of the defined list view webpart.

ok, I found the keyboard viewer, it only shows the traditional symbol 'return'. something like a sideway u-turn continued with the arrow under. This is the Canadian or US keyboard.

I cannot find any information in the RoboHelp for HTML help
that explains what a "page" is for, and why I would want to use it.
Can anyone point me in the direction of an explanation of why you
use pages?
I suspect that the use of the page may help me with the XML
output from RoboHelp that I need for display within another
program. What is need is to export XML to QT Assistant, which
cannot make use of the empty book files from RoboHelp and instead
requires files to have content. I may have got this wrong, however,
and am happy to correspond with anyone who has experience with QTA.

You may well be right, but I still don't understand. Until
now, I have always created topics as part of books, without any
need for pages. Why does someone ever need to create a page, if the
topic can have the direct connection to the TOC?

There is no need to worry as the lock symbol on the file icon indicates that the PDF files are secured.

Hi Shabeaut,
To create a new permission level, you should manage the Parent (site collection).
Your current location is subsite, and it looks like it has unique permission(broke inheritance) that is the reason you are not able to see the create permission level. and another reason for seeing Inherit Permissions along with other menus in the ribbon.
You should also see Manage Parent along with the menus you see when your site inherits permission from parent.
So, go to your site collection and create a new permission level and assign users to it.
And to assign permission level to your new groups, you will be able assign permission when you create a new group, along with the name, all permissions would be listed in the same page(_layouts/newgrp.aspx).

No background or the page is the size of the screen

I have used Visio for 20 years, currently using 2000, but whole of a suddenly the background, that used to be a bluage green became white, the same as the page so now I can't see the size of the page. It does not matter if I change the page background
color under Tools-"Options". Nothing changes. However, if I change the Page color the whole workspace become that color. From that it's like the whole workspace become the page no matter what size the page is set to. The only way I can see the "page"
is to select View-Page Break. Then it display the page size correct. I even uninstalled the program fully and reinstalled it with the same result. I'm at a loss.
Any idea?

Does any update install on your PC before background disappear? If yes, we can uninstall it temporarily. Let’s open Visio in safe mode to disable some add-ins and macros.
Since Visio 2000 SR1 is end of life, if you need further support, I recommend you can upgrade a newer version of Visio.

What exactly does the MasterPageFile="~masterurl/default.master" in the page mean?

I want to create a site definition that use my own master page in the homepage (VS2012 + SP2010). When the site definition is created, there are already codes in the default.aspx page that simply display a string in the body. And the page refers to a
master page at ~masterurl/default.master.
My question is, where exactly does ~masterurl point to? I want to use my own master page to replace it, but when I change it to any other location rather than
~masterurl/default.master, it gives me an error saying file not found.
So could anyone tell me how can I use my own master page in the default.aspx page? I tryied to place my master page file in the LAYOUTS folder and refer to it using
MasterPageFile="_layouts/site.master" but it does not work, either.

Dynamic token "~masterurl/default.master"
This token references a master page from a content page by using the MasterPageFile attribute together with the value of the MasterUrl property.
As an example, in the following page directive, <%@ Page MasterPageFile="~masterurl\default.master"%>, the token "~masterurl/default.master" is replaced at run time by the value in the MasterUrl property.
This property contains the server-relative full path to the master page, including file name.
Notice the article is talking about these dynamic tokens which are automatically substituted at runtime. Which is what you're seeing.

basically you have to be careful what path you're specifying, depending on the location of the page.

I have a requirement to restrict the access of "InPlaceRecordsListSettings.aspx" and "InPlaceRecordsSettings.aspx" pages for some of the users and allow the access for some of the users.
I have applied the below code on the web.config file but this modification impacting only on the web application level not on the site collection and sub site level.

You can't do it from OOTB.
_layout folder is accessible to the users if they have read access in any of the site even subsite.
You can modify *.aspx file, add your custom control which will check user.

I am displaying the _layouts/Upload.aspx page from a custom form, which enables the user to upload a document to a document library. The problem is that once the user uploads the document a second dialog comes asking the user to set the title of the
document and the following message "The document was uploaded successfully and is checked out to you. Check that the fields below are correct and that all required fields are filled out. The file will not be accessible to other users until
you check in."
I want to bypass this dialog, is this possible?

This morning, Firefox stopped opening .pdf documents that I am trying to retrieve from websites. It does not download them, and the page goes blank, with nothing more happening. What do I do to fix it?

I went to the FAA website, and I needed to review a document. I clicked on the link, the page turned blank, but I never saw the document. I tried again, but I still could not get the document. Word documents still bring up the dialog box allowing me to open the document. I went to another website to find additional information on the project I am working on, and I am experiencing the same problem, when I click on a link to a pdf, it will not open, and the download dialog box does not open.
I have tried looking at applications and plugins, but everything seems to be fine. What do I do to fix this?

My 2nd gen works fine with WPA2 and AES encryption.
You may need to go back and start over. Reset the router back to factory defaults, log on as the admin, set up security, DHCP, and make sure the IP address pool has enough IP addresses to lease to ALL of the computers/devices that will connect to that the router.

I have successfully created an animated button that opens to reveal a quotation with a nested clickable link to the source. What I would like to do is have several of these with different quotes inside them, scattered on the page. I have looked at the composition loader available via Edge Commons, and it seems that would require some sort of Edge animate Stage 'frame' to load the instances into? Is there any way to place them directly into the master page - as div elements...?
The outer of the buttons is the same, on hover they open partialy on click fully, to reveal their particular text - which I thought about loading it at runtime with json, or maybe handlebars...?
I would also like to make the buttons only take the necessary space. ie. before they expand they are only buttons. ( I have set the stage to hidden but it still takes up space). To acheive this, I think perhaps I will have to target the inner components css, and set them as display:none until the button is hovered over, then set :hover and :active pseudo classes inside edge. Is this feasible?

Also - as you can see, at present I have several symbols in parallel. Would I be better off nesting the text containers inside the outer button container? and would I be better off creating styled mini- pages of text data, and then loading them - instead of loading them as symbols? I have had to create seperate symbols because I cannot adequately stle the text - so some is bold, some is italic etc. within one text field. Or can I? I guess I could nest several text fields inside one symbol...?

In your example you were still loading into an animation But from yor example, I guess I would need to place all my examples inside an outer edge composition... but then I think positioning them accurately with css, making adjustments etc. will be fairly tricky.
